Dear diary...or should I say journal? Sakura says diary. Journal? Diary? Oh well, I'll figure it out later.
This past week has been...trial and error for me. I got little paperwork done because I was preoccupied with chaos! Hanami was mad at me for a good two days, I learned that I suck at cooking, I'm an amazing pillow, and Shikamaru is a hair guru.
See, Sakura didn't tell me about things like this! I thought I knew it all because hello, I help make three kids but...being away for so long made me forget a few things I guess. It took me the longest to figure out how to undo my mess...and learn some new tricks.
I guess I'll start off slow? A lot things did happen and...a lot of teachable moments happened.
See, it all started on Monday with the eggs...
Monday
"Come say bye to your mother! I yell through the house. "And here is your lunch box." I handed her the blue bag on the counter.
"Thank you, Naruto."
There she goes. This is the first week since the flooding, my first day being a...what did Shikamaru say?
A Househusband..how troublesome
Right, a househusband! I don't know what to expect but I will admit, I'm a little excited to spend time with the kids. Besides, if Sakura can do this, I know I can!
"You're just going to keep standing there or are you going to kiss your wife goodbye." Sakura suddenly appeared in front of me.
I cut away from my thoughts flustered and kissed her on both cheeks and forehead. "S-Sorry, just a little-"
"Nervous?"
Can this woman read my thoughts?
"What? Read your mind?" she joked.
Maybe she can.
"Listen," she put my hands in hers and smiled warmly at me. I could feel my shoulders relax a little. "It may be a little hard trying to do work and getting used to this arrangement but you can do it. You just have to find your balance! Once you do that, it'll be a breeze. And besides, you have this," Sakura raised up the journal she gave me yesterday. "This is going to be your best friend. Use it."
"I will, don't worry!" we embraced and kissed one last time before she went off to work. "I love you."
'I love you too. And...try to survive, okay?"
As Sakura closed the door, it became very real very quickly that I am officially alone. I looked down and all three, well two, Arashi looking at everything but me, were staring back at me.
"So... Who wants breakfast!"
"I thought you are supposed to be at work?" I heard my son say from behind.
"Yeah! Mommy is supposed to be here." Hanami expressed.
"Well," I felt the heat of the egg sizzling as I flipped it. "Something happened at work. You remember daddy smelling bad yesterday?"
"Like nasty eggs!" Hanami covered her nose.
I stiffed a chuckle. "Y-Yes, like eggs. A pipe burst in daddy's office so everybody has to stay home for a couple of months to fix it."
"You're going to be home all the time?" I could hear the excitement in his voice.
"Yes! But that doesn't mean I still don't have work," I grabbed some black pepper from the cabinet and sprinkled some on. "I have a lot of paperwork to get through still. You know with the-"
"So are you gonna spend time with us?" he interrupted.
"Shina-chan..." I put the eggs on their plates and placed some fruit on the side. "I do have to work, however, I do want to spend time with you guys." I sat the food down in front of Hanami and Shinachiku. "I'll try my best to balance."
Being Hokage took me away because I do not remember this baby food looking like this..and smelling like this! Is this safe? This looks like throw-up!
"What...is...that." Shinachiku picked at the food I put in front of him and Hanami.
"What do you mean? it's eggs-oh no don't spit that out Arashi-chan!" I scooped another portion in his small spoon and tried to feed it to him again but all I got was a loud whining response. "Come on, you got to eat this or your mommy will kill me" I whined back
"This," he picked up the egg with his fork by the edge. It made a big slap sound once ins lipped off. "Is an egg?"
"Yes! See-"
I took his fork and ate a piece of egg. I don't see what's bad about it. Okay, it looks different than what Sakura makes but it's still...good? Oh my God, what is this taste? Did I just crunch on a shell?! Did I put too much salt? Or not enough
"It's alright..."
I can feel the broken pieces sliding down my throat
My son just looked at me and shook his head. "Sure, Dad. I'm going to get my things."
As soon as he walked away, I spit the egg into the sink. I could hear my daughter laugh at me and turned to her, "Okay, so maybe I do need more cooking lessons..."
nasty ass egg
"Hanami, you fin-what are you doing?!"
Hanami held her egg patty in both hands "Daddy look!" she throw the egg as hard as she could in the air from her chair, it stuck to the ceiling.
I gripped my hair in panic "Ah m-my ceiling! Why did you do that Hanami?!
"Yay, it stuck! Auntie Ino taught me slimly things stick! It sticks! Sticky eggs!" Before I could say anything else, she ran to the back, probably to tell her brother what she did.
"Oh, Sakura-chan is going to kill me once she sees this."
I sighed and cleared both plates and put them in the sink.
How the hell am I supposed to explain why there's an egg patty on the ceiling when Sakura gets home?! Hopefully, she'll be too tired to notice. Do I just wait until it falls or...
I turned to my one-year-old at the sound of him grabbing at the mushed baby food.
"Oh, so you want to eat this now, huh?"
