Addison and Zed couldn't stop staring at their newborn twin daughters, excited to introduce them to their excited family. "Our beautiful babies," she cooed.
"Our little hybrid babies who are the best alien human zombies to ever exist," he jokingly added.
She snorted, running a hand through the oldest baby's hair. "I can't believe their hair is cyan. Really mixed us together well. Isn't that right, Zari?"
Zari continued to sleep, which didn't surprise them. "I know we're supposed to enjoy it when they sleep because they'll keep us up all hours of the night but I want them to do something." Addison was aware she was whining but didn't care.
A knock on the door, and they glanced up to see both sets of parents and his sister. "Are those my granddaughters? I need to hold one or both of them," Missy demanded.
Zed gently handed over the baby in his arms. "This is the youngest."
"Hello, sweetheart. You two are absolutely adorable." She wisely chose not to comment on the babies' hair color but it didn't matter to her anyway.
"What are their names?" prompted an impatient slightly whiny Zoey.
Addison beamed. "I'm holding Zari Rose while the baby Mom has Ziva Christine."
Missy cocked her head in confusion. "Did you name your daughter after an NCIS character?"
Addison and Zed both snorted, not even mentioning that Zari was also named after a TV character. Sue them, it fit the theme and they loved the names. "Maybe," he hedged.
"Well, I think it's adorable. Can I hold one?" Zoey pleaded.
"Sure." Addison reluctantly gave up Zari to her sister-in-law, and Zoey melted the instant the baby was in her arms.
"This is so much better than a dog." Not that she didn't love animals but her nieces definitely trumped them at the moment.
"Bright hair but it fits them," Zevon observed. He couldn't wait for a chance to hold his granddaughters and looked over at Zoey.
"Fat chance. Ask Missy, Dad." Zoey flashed him a smile before turning her attention back to Zari, proud of herself for refusing to give the baby up.
"Yeah, you'll wait your turn."
"Missy!" scolded Dale, although he too wanted a turn.
"Everybody gets a turn with the babies. Take it down a notch!" Addison scolded. But the sight of her babies with their family made her emotional and she teared up again, hating the hormones still coursing through her body.
"Are you tired? Poor thing, you must be exhausted." Missy handed Ziva over to a delighted Dale and went to go fuss over their daughter.
"Hello, sweet girl. I love you and your sister. Your mom's amazing, and your dad's pretty nice too," Dale murmured to Ziva, who blinked her eyes open for about forty five seconds before closing them again.
"You two did well - I'm so proud, especially of you, Addison," Zevon told his daughter-in-law when Zoey reluctantly finally gave Zari up and handed her over.
"Thanks." Addison blinked back more tears and leaned against her husband.
Zed kissed her. "I love you, Addy. You and our girls mean the world to me."
"I love all three of you too," she sniffled.
Addison and the twins went home the next morning, and she and Zed dove head first into parenthood. Learning how to raise children, especially hybrid babies, wasn't easy but they figured it out. And two years down the line, they added another little girl - Aurora - to their family. Their fourth and final daughter, Anastasia, made them whole and completed them just sixteen months later. All four kids grew up with the best of all worlds since Seabrook was a safe haven, an accepting community for everybody - monsters and humans alike.
