Kai: Just saying you wrote more than double the first book in the same amount of time.

~Kai's~

There were two letters on the dining room table and beside me was my sister Jinx though if you call her that, better run for the hills. Our father took time off work and came back to the mansion once we told him about school reform.

"You both need to go through the new acceptance exam to be admitted as Juniors at ESA" our father's voice is stoic. Our father Maximilian Blaze, a Blaziken who is the head of the Blaze industry. We cover pokemon biology/testing as well as vegetation and crop industries across the world. "You understand what happens if you both fail to get in?" He looked at us both expectantly.

"Yes dad we understand" Both Nix and I said in unison.

"Also Kai we don't need any more slip-ups" My father sent a glare my way. "Make sure both of you keep up with your training and pack up your bags in preparation to move into the school dorms" With that said he then left the dining room. "I'll be back at the end of the semester to make sure everything goes well. Now to get back to work" As always our father was out. I decided to head up to my room as he left to do as he asked. I packed my clothes, blankets, headphones, and judo outfits in two duffle bags. I decided to take a break and rest on my heating rock. It's a smooth piece of stone and can heat up to a comfortable 300 degrees celsius.

How rude of me not to explain, I'm Kai Blaze, a soon-to-be third year at ESA. Before the school reform, I was the Judo club captain for two years. My dream is to become stronger than the infamous Tyler Loft. My hero since I saw him compete in Holy road, which was only when I was in the eighth grade when I saw him a little over two years ago. I then watched all of his previous matches and the ones to come. My father never let me watch his contests since he said those are for frilly gay men. However, I snuck in and watched a few. I wish I could've gone to see him in the contest when he was here during winter break last year. Luna even got the chance to fight him, of course, she lost though from the recording he seemed really weak. I wonder why that was. I do remember reading Ferrum had a crisis with their previous Dean and some students were involved. After that, I did see the Grand festival and the Chroma League. He had a great show during his duo performance with Mona the Empoleon. Only for him to lose because Yowai caught him off guard. His showing in the Chroma League was a massive change and in all three rounds, he was awesome. In the first round, he took out a whole team of three by himself and I had to hand it to the opposing team to try to get it back, but Tyler was too good. In the second round, he got reckless and showed a new aggressive side. He was going as far as demolishing the distortion world. He proceeded to the finals and lost to the golden boy Volcan, not after Showing Liz a thing or two. As a first year, he did well but it looked like he was still getting his bearings. Though this past summer was awesome with all the amazing fights I couldn't stop watching. Two major appearances from our new gym leader Xavier and the Mysterious Axel who resembles Tyler's devil power very closely. I'm happy to say Tyler won the whole tournament making him number one.

"Wake up, the movers are here" Nix woke me up by turning off my rock and I instantly felt cold.

"I told you before to not turn off my rock" I complained through a tired groan. I got up and stretched my body.

"Anything special you can give to them otherwise bring your bags with you to the school" Nix then walked out with her hands in her pockets. I didn't realize I fell asleep. I looked at my bags and then proceeded to my closet. Moving a few things out of the way I reached the back where I had secret things hidden away from my father's and my friends' view. The only other pokemon who knows about this is Nix. In a drawstring bag labeled 'delicate', I stuffed what I could from the secret compartment I have and placed the bag on my bed. I grabbed my three bags and went downstairs where one of the butlers was.

"Can you tell the movers they can take my rock, tv, and video games?" I said casually as I went outside. The butler bowed. I then joined my sister outside as we had a limo waiting for us and we got inside. We live at the edge of Evergreen which is a fifteen-minute drive to the school.

"It seems we got a new school president with the new reform. His name is Sol Lumino. I hear he was asked to be the president personally thanks to the legendary committee" Nix started to explain what was going on. She was slouched. I remembered she spends her time with Luna and gets the inside scoop. "Not only that but we will do some form of entrance exam to weed out the students and what type of class they'll be in. That's all I cared to remember" she let out a sigh.

"Thanks for letting me know" I showed my appreciation with a smile.

"Whatever, I thought I'd be nice after dad was being a hard ass" she scoffed. I smiled knowing this is her way of showing she cares. The ride to the new school was bland but upon arrival, I was amazed at the reconstruction they did over this summer. The school stems from the Evergreen stadium into four blocks and I assume each block is for each grade. Not only that but the dorms were spread out around the area. Students were roaming about looking for where to drop their things off as well as the main entrance. When the limo stopped Nix and I got out and we noticed we got a few stares from those around us. When we made our way to the main entrance there was an odd-looking Garchomp but he had fur and the color scheme of a Mightyena. He was holding a box. He had a name tag and it read 'Aristotle' and underneath he had the title of teaching assistant. Beside him were other pokemon with name tags and boxes. I assume they are all staff here. Though the Garchomp was struggling with his job.

"P-please, take o-one of these before yo-ou enter" he stuttered. I'm guessing he was referring to what was inside the box he was holding. It was a blue ball the size of a blueberry and I grabbed one.

"Thank you" I then made my way inside and the signs were leading us to fill the auditorium. On my way in I saw familiar faces Like Luna and Pollon. As well as new ones like this orange Lycanroc I passed in the hallway.

"Kai, it's good to see you" I looked to my side and it was Pollon.

"Glad to see you as well" I gave her a cheeky smile.

"No need to fake it with me, I already know" Pollon gut punched me with her words.

"Fine, I'll drop the act," I said with a defeated sigh and lost the fake smile. "However we should sit down," I said and Pollon agreed. We decided to sit next to Luna and Nix as other students were filing in. It took another twenty minutes for everyone to arrive and fill in the gym. Not too long after a very well-dressed man with an interesting mane came to the center of the room.

"I'm glad to you all here and let me welcome you to the newly formed Elemental Sector Academy. Composed of the former three city schools now into one. We also are welcoming students from foreign regions with the new reform. I am the president Sol Lumino, the legendary sun deity Solgaleo" With that introduction everyone was in shock. "Classes will start in three days, but of course, you all have yet to move into your dorms. The reason is I have an entrance exam for you all" The whole room started to whisper surprised. "Don't worry you can't fail but if you perform well you may reek benefits. First, we need you to activate your Orbs, the blue drop you got when you came in. Please whisper your name to it and let it scan your body. It will then take the form adaptable to your personality" Lumino explained.

"Kai Blaze" I whispered to the blue Orb and then it scanned my body. My orb then turned to spiked bracelets and attached itself to my wrist. I then noticed everyone around me calibrating their Orbs as well.

"This will be your way of communication, news, and keys to traverse this new academy. Now once you finish just tap your Orb and a screen will come up. If you notice there will be another student there. You will fight this student in one of our eight battlefields and our teachers as well as I will evaluate each battle as it happens. When you are done you will receive your room assignment. Now I feel like I talked for a while so I will leave you all to it" He then left exiting the gym.

"It says I get to fight a guy named Percival," Luna said.

"Never heard that name before" I chimed in.

"He's a transfer from Kanto with high fire manipulation ability," Pollon explained in a monotone voice. I then noticed she was going through student battle data.

"These things already have info on us?" I asked with alarm.

"No, silly," Luna laughed at me. "What they do have, is our previous fight data uploaded from previous years of going to school. Percival must have had his transferred when he applied here" I feel stupid for her to explain that to me. As we continued our conversation I noticed a Haxorus watching us from the corner of my eye and it wasn't like he was lost in thought, more like he was hyper-fixated on one of us.

"Since my match isn't for another hour I think I'll go explore what this place has to offer" I left before the other could object. They would rather me not be alone, especially after what happened not even a month ago. I was walking around and saw a lot. We have a cafe, a food court, a general store, and a pharmacy. I then decided to explore the higher levels of the building. There were classrooms, locker rooms, and vending machines. While I was on the third floor I looked out the window which had an overview of the center of campus. It had a perfect view of the Evergreen stadium in the center of our region and of course, there was a match going on. I then looked down and saw an Altaria with a Sylveon sitting in a gazebo. I sighed as I continued walking, ignoring the sight in front of me.

"Ace, why did you have to side with Angel? If you stayed neutral none of that would have happened" I sighed. I tapped my bracelet and my screen came up. My screen came up and it showed my opponent Zeek Blitz. I sighed again, why does my past have to catch up to me now? I keep it moving as my fight will take place on battlefield number five in the junior section of the school.

"Please students we don't have much time, you will have a five-minute time limit to show us what you got" a teacher explained our guidelines. All I did was stare at the eclectic zebra in front of me with guilt.

"Let's have a good match" his voice unwavering as I remembered before he stepped out on that day. "Don't think about anything, let's fight if you want to do anything else let it be after" Zeek pressed in his glasses and I finally met his eyes.

"If both sides are ready. Battle, begin!" The teacher announced.

(Dragoncraft theme - Shadowverse anime) A/N: Kai's theme

Without flinching, Zeek released his electric power and it changed the field around us and it was zapped with electricity. He then charged at me with fire all around his body and I took it head-on.

"You must've forgotten what my ability is" I chuckled a bit. As it is now my turn. I countered by smashing his face with my steel-like tail. With him sliding back I charged my fire at him and shot him with a Fireblast. To my surprise, after he got hit, I got electrocuted. How was he able to shock me without using a move? I then looked at the stadium floor. This electric terrain isn't just a power boost but he's using it as an alternate way of attacking. He knows not to let me get in close. This is what I get for trusting him with my battle tactics in the past.

"If you think keeping me away will save you then you think very lowly of me. I'm not the same Kai from two years ago" I stood still to their eyes and took a couple of deep breaths. At this time Zeek started to attack me with bolts of electric energy and even tried to use a spark on me. I was able to dodge and keep my breaths calm. Then with a simple exhale you see the whole electric terrain surge and disappear. Zeek looked at me surprised as I slowly walked toward him. With each step, you could hear a little sizzle. "Flareons have a heat pouch in their lungs that can heat up to three-thousand degrees Fahrenheit. Not to mention my external body heat will adjust to one thousand eight hundred degrees Fahrenheit" I gave him a smirk. I have a few more minutes before my collar pelt puffs out to help cool me down.

"Y-you didn't have pr-roper control of that before" he stuttered. My muscles then flexed from my move superpower and I got underneath him and tossed him up in the air.

"I told you I'm not the same as before!" I used Lava plume and we were trapped in a tornado of lava. "Now I'll show you my battle technique, the eye of the storm!" I jumped up and wrapped my body around Zeek as we descended back to the stadium floor. With me using superpower and me forcing him to crash in the center of the lava. In seconds we crashed into the stadium floor.

"Battle over, vitals from Zeek shoes he fainted. The winner is Kai Blaze!" The teacher announced and I was shocked he was able to call it so quickly. Our Orbs can scan vitals tech is amazing. I quickly decided to leave before I whiplash for using super for too long. The longest I can last is a minute. When I climbed up the stairs and sat down, it was when my body collapsed. Then the fur around my neck puffed up and now it covered my mouth, nose and a part of my eyes. Yup, my body's cool down mechanism and I hate it because it makes me look cute. I then heard a beeping and tapped my Orb and my screen came up with a message from the Dean to meet with him now. I also got a room assignment which was marked E7. I didn't see any dorm buildings with letters only year numbers then rooms and then why the letter 'E'. I decided to go quickly, there was a map to his office and luckily since my match was one of the last ones everyone is out of the building trying to move into their dorms. So they don't have to see me like this. As I reached his office I saw a Gogoat leaving as I arrived. Her cheeks were flushed and she was looking at the ground walking away.

"I wonder what happened?" I asked myself.

" " I jumped a bit when the Dean said my name. I guess it doesn't come through on mic but his voice is sort of deep but has a true growl of a lion. "Please, come in my office" wasn't like a command but his stature made it seem like one. While walking in I acknowledge the fact that for some reason he feels familiar to me. I shook it off as I studied his office. A picture with other legendaries, there were only ten others in that picture with him. Another photo with him and Lunala, many other pictures but not really notable. "I'll drop the formalities since we're in private" surprised to have that be the first thing that comes out his mouth. " I hate the whole Dean thing and being an uptight adult figure, so when your here I want you to be able to be yourself" he chuckled to himself as he took a seat on his desk. "Have a seat young one" I looked around the room where there were two chairs and then a couch. I decided to sit on the couch.

"Why am I here? Did I do something already?" I was a bit nervous.

"None of the sort, actually I'm here to congratulate you" he let out a hardy laugh.

"For what?" I was confused.

"Through teacher evaluation and mine as well you've been selected to be a part of the elite class of the academy. No matter what year you are, you can be selected to be a part of these elite twenty students" he gave me a warm smile. He really is the sun deity. Everything about him is warm.

"How is that possible? My father always said I was average and that there are students my age already gym pokemon and gym leaders" I let out a disappointed sigh and sunk my head in my collar fur.

"Let's not self deprecate" Lumino scoffs. He then pulled his Orb screen "You are rank fourteen in the elite class and remember two thousand students go here now" he put a hand on my shoulder.

"I'm here to let you know these students get special treatment as well as harder classes. You will get a full debrief on your first day of classes. Do you have any other questions?" He asked as he went to grab water.

"Where is my dorm located?" I felt a bead of sweat drop.

"Yup, I forgot to mention. It's a refurbished clubhouse that was used by the tennis team. If you know where that is" he chuckled.

"I do and thank you" after I said that I took my leave heading towards the tennis courts.

(Circhester Theme - Pokemon Sword and Shield)A/N: New ending theme

In the time it took to leave the school building I noticed my collar fur returned to normal and Lumino didn't say anything about it while I was in his office. He was probably trying to be nice. I wonder what the other students are like. He said anyone from any year can be an elite and that we get special treatment. As I was walking I pulled up my Orb screen but it only showed info I knew. I'm rank fourteen, junior, male and a Flareon. One thing that did change was that it showed my roommate Macalister Nexus and that he's rank seven. I then came up to a pristine building that had five floors. It was fenced off but I could see a pool and grill in the back. Coming to the fence it instantly scanned my Orb and let me in. Walking straight into the building, the first floor looked like I entered a hotel. Nothing I haven't seen but didn't expect this for a school.

There was a buffet area and next to it was a lounge area with a few TV's. Walking towards the elevator was the entrance to the back and I passed by a fully decked out gym. I guess I'll have to spend time exploring later. I'm drained for the day and look at the directory for my room. Looking at it, each floor has two rooms, I wonder why that is? Taking the elevator up I reach the fourth floor and head to 'E7'. There was a note on the door ' Baggage delivered for Macalister and Kai'. I guess my heavier things were brought here already. I noticed a keypad on the door and tapped a button and it scanned my Orb. I then heard a click and the door opened. I walked inside and it was a big room. Bathroom instantly to the left and coat closet to the right. Walk in further and there is a kitchen and it's sort of connected to the living room. I then met eyes with a Haxorus sitting in the living room watching tv. Wait, it's the one for earlier.

"I had my eye on you before, but to imagine you'd be an elite as well" he then got up.

"My name is Macalister Nexus and please call me Nexus. I'm your roommate for the year" he got up and put out his hand. When he got up I realized he is a lot taller than me and I'm 5'9.

"I'm Kai Blaze" I shook his hand.

"I took the room down this left hallway and left you the one down the right hallway" he gestured and I took the time to look at this room like I had a flat on a beach.

"Thanks" I then walked toward my room. What an interesting Haxorus, usually they are loud, rude and ready to fight anyone they see as a threat. It seemed like just now he was analyzing me and what I would say. Let's just hope this year can be normal and have no problems.

Action: Here is the beginning of ESA, this may be a simple start but Let the adventure continue.

Kai: I'm a lot more depressed than Tyler. *Sigh*

Luna: We are a different cast compared to him and his friends.

Nix: Just proves that the younger the edgier.

Pollon: You're one to talk.

Nexus: Let's not do this right now, please it's only the first chapter.
