Chapter two:
The letter from a lost love
True to their words, the gang visited Yugi in the hospital as often as possible. In a few weeks, they notice dramatic changes in Yugi. Her spiky hair had just passed her shoulders in soft curls that enhanced Yugi's cuteness. Her skin was also more delicate, so Tea brought her some lotion to keep it from getting dry. Yugi's lip got fuller and kissable. A few times, Joey and Tristen had to look away when Yugi gave them a puppy dog look when she wanted something. It was ten times stronger than before. Every time they folded and did as asked, both Yugi and Tea will giggle. Most of the time, it was to get a burger or coco cola from the store.
One day the gang found Yugi in a fetal position on the bed. They immediately rushed to her to see what was wrong. "Yugi, are you alright?" Tea place a hand on her shoulder. Yugi slowly sat up, wincing. "My stomach is killing me." The blanket fell enough for Tea to see a tiny blood spot on Yugi's nightgown near her pelvic region. She immediately knew what had happened. "Joey, Tristen, please get the nurse and ask for a low-dose pain killer and a heating pad." She pushed the guys out of Yugi's room, receiving confused looks, but the guys did as their friend asked. Tea then walked into the bathroom and ran a hot bath. Lucky the hospital had lavender and Sakura blossoms bath bombs.
She plopped one in the tub and returned to Yugi, who was holding her stomach. "Yugi, I know it hurts, but I want you to get in the tub. It will help you feel better." Yugi nodded and removed her soiled hospital gown with Tea's help. Slowly she sank into the filled tub to get some relief. "I see the treatment seems to be working." Tea joked and pointed to Yugi's chest, where small mounds were forming. Yugi covered them with her hand and bubbles, slightly embarrassed. "The doctors are unsure how big they will get. Mama was a medium-size D cup. I am hoping for a large b or small c. I want them to look good and normal." Yugi refuses to look up at Tea, feeling slightly self-conscious about her body. "Once your treatment is complete, if you are unhappy with them, you can look into breast augmentation." Tea said, taking a soft rag and washing Yugi's back, trying to get her to relax.
Yugi looked up at her, confused. "Some people don't like their breasts; they are too big, too small, or don't look right. So, they get Breast augmentation to either make them bigger or smaller. We can look into it later" Yugi nodded.
Yugi smiled as a memory came to her. "what" Tea looked at Yugi, seeing her smile. "I remember. Do you remember when I switched the rope the puzzle was on to a chain?" Tea nodded. "Well, Atem told me he didn't care what I used to hold the puzzle. Everything looks good on me to him. Standing in front of the mirror, I saw him behind me. He had his arms around me, hugging me. I know he was a spirit, but I felt his arms. It was one of the few times I loved having him hold me." She said as a tear fell down Yugi's cheek. Tea saw it and wiped it away. "You still miss him, don't you.?" She asked. Yugi looked at her. "Do you ever stop missing someone who lov…care for." Yugi yelled at herself for her slip up. Tea acted like she didn't hear it. 'Joey was right' she thought. "No, you don't." Tea said. She decided to change the subject.
"Did your mother ever go over the menstrual cycle stuff with you?" She asked. "She and my father died in a car accident shortly after the botched treatment when I was 10." Yugi said, lending back a little, feeling the pain decreasing. "that's okay. Do you understand why you were feeling pain in your stomach?" Tea asked, fully prepared to discuss this. Yugi shook her head. "You started your cycle. Once a month, you will bleed for 5-7 days. Sometimes this can be painful. You can take pain medication like ibuprofen or Midol to help with this and another side effect like bloating." Tea explained. "What is bloating?" Yugi asked, showing how uninformed she was. She knew what a menstrual was but not how it works. "Where you feel fat but you're not. You can also feel moody and might cry more. You can change from happy to sad in a second. Boys like to tease us about that." Yugi nodded with understanding.
The water in the tub started to cool down, so Tea got a towel and helped Yugi out. She sat Yugi down on the toilet. Tea got Yugi's bag and pulled out fresh clothes for her and a pad. She handed them to Yugi, showing her how to use the period pad. "Put it in your panties; we will talk about tampons later." She said. "Once you are released, we can go shopping for new cloth. I don't think you've ever been shopping for girl's clothes." Tea said with a smile. Yugi shook her head. "Never thought about it. You get your wish, though." Tea raises an eyebrow. "You always say you need female friends. Now you have one." Yugi joked. Tea giggled at that. "I guess so. Let's get you re-dress." She helped Yugi put on a smile yellow dress with several small eyes of Horus. They walk back to Yugi's bed. Tea sat behind Yugi with a Hairbrush, brushing out Yugi's hair. She put in a high ponytail with her bangs framing her face.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. The nurse and the boys walk in. "These young men told me you were in a bit of pain." The nurse Nina said. Yugi nodded. "Yes. I started my menstrual cycle, and I am cramping." Yugi looked at Tea to confirm the right words, who nodded. Nina looked at Yugi's chart to see if she could give Yugi some med. "Dr. Miyazaki was hoping for you to have at least one before you leave. I'll double-check with her, but I see no problem with it. I'll be right back" she walked out only to return a few minutes later with Dr. Miyazaki.
Dr. Miyazaki was an Egyptian woman, which was why Yugi liked her, with dark blonde hair and silver eyes. She was very kind to Yugi and thought of her as a daughter as she was friends with Yugi's mother. "Morning, Yugi. I hear you are having some cramping?" she asked. Yugi nodded and smiled at the doctor. "I'll see to Nina getting you some Midol, but I think you might be leaving soon." She said. Yugi's eyes went wide. "You mean my treatment is almost done, and I can go home soon," Yugi asked. Dr. Miyazaki chuckled at Yugi's surprise. It's part of the job she enjoyed. "Everything is going well. I should be able to discharge you within the next couple of hours. However, I would like to see you once a month for at least a year to make sure no problem arises, alright?" the doctor said. Yugi nodded, still in shock. She was going home soon. Dr. Miyazaki smiled, made a note on the computer, and left. "I'll be back soon with discharge paperwork."
"Looks like you are busting out of this joint." Joey jumped for joy. Even though he understood why Yugi was in the hospital, that doesn't mean he likes it when one of his friends is hurt or sick. "Is grandpa going to pick you up?" Tristen asked, causing Yugi's eyes to widen. "Fudge cookies." Yugi said as she opened her bag, pulled out her laptop, turned it on, and went to skype. Yugi called her grandfather Solomon Moto. Within a second, he answered. "Hello Yugi, how are you doing?" he said. "Great, the gang is here as well," she said
Yugi turned the laptop to show Tea, Joey, and Tristen. "Hiya Gramps," they said. "Hi kids, thanks for taking care of Yugi for me." He said, smiling. "No problem, grandpa," Joey said, giving a thumbs up. "Hey grandpa, guess what? The doctor says I might be able to go home tonight." Yugi said, smiling brightly with excitement. "That is excellent news, Yugi. I wish I could be there to welcome you home. I should be home either tomorrow or this weekend." He said.
Grandpa was on one of his expeditions in Egypt. "That alright, grandpa. I can't wait to hear what you found out this time." Yugi said, giggling. She loved hearing her grandpa's stories. He had discovered more about Atem's past before he was pharaoh.
"Grandpa, I have a question. Not to sound rude, but I understand other people mistaking Yugi for a boy knowing the history, but why did you refer to Yugi as grandson at times." Tristen asked respectfully. Grandpa looked at Yugi, who nodded before answering. "Several reasons. I didn't know if you all knew, and I knew Yugi never corrected anyone. I wanted to wait and see what Yugi wanted." He said. "Understandable." Tea said. "I'll call you when I get home. Be safe. I love you." Yugi said. "Love you too, my girl. I found new, maybe embarrassing, records about Atem when he was a baby. I'll tell you when I get home." He said, hanging up. "let's get you out of here and then to the mall." Tea said while the boys groaned. "What, Yugi needs a new female wardrobe." Tea place her hands on her hips. Yugi just shook her head in joy.
Suddenly Yugi's dual-deck started to glow. A little brown ball of fur popped out of nowhere. "Kuriboh, what are you doing here, and how did you get here? I thought the portal to your realm was close when Atem left for the spirit realm." Yugi said. Kuriboh looked a little hurt, so Yugi held her arms open for it. "Come here. I miss you too." Kuriboh gently ran into Yugi's arm and snuggled into her chest. Tea noticed a letter in Kuriboh's tiny hands. "he's got a letter." Kuriboh looked at the letter and then handed it to Yugi. "Is this for me? Thank you. You know some people aren't used to seeing dual monsters without a dual disk, so what do you said I'll let you out when I get home. Okay?" Yugi rubbed Kuriboh's head as he nodded and disappeared into the deck. Yugi opened the letter to find it was written on papyrus. The familiar scent of cinnamon filled Yugi's nose. "What does it say, Yug?" Joey said, trying to read over her shoulder. "No way," was all Yugi could say.
Dear Aibou,
I bet you are surprised to hear from me. It has been far too long. I recently found a way to communicate between the world of the living and the afterlife. The afterlife is not all it's cracked up to be. Don't get me wrong. I love that I am reunited with my father and friends from the past. I missed them. However, I noticed something was missing. I find myself missing you more and more each day. So I talked to my father about it, who spoke to the Egyptian Gods who stated I was not where I belonged. At first, I was confused until my father shocked me. He said that I, along with him, Mana, Mahad, Isis, and Seto, return to the world of the living and live again. Did you hear that, Yugi? I am coming back! I cant wait to see you and all of our friends. I am not sure exactly when we will arrive, but it will be soon. Let Kaiba know that Seto wants a few words with him about his attitude. Tell everyone ill see them soon—especially you.
Love,
Your Pharaoh
Atem.
Yugi was in shock and was shaking as she finished reading Atem's letter. "I don't believe it. Atem is coming back." She looked up at her friends, who were all wearing huge smiles. "that great Yugi. We can take him to that new nightclub, Czar's." Joey said. "Czar's, isn't that run by Marik Ishtar?" Yugi asked, trying to get her mind off Atem for the moment. "Yeah, and it's the hottest new joint in town, and so far, it's been the place to be for good music, food, and fun." Tristen said, giving Yugi a wink.
"I guess I need to call the Ishtars and Seto." Yugi said as she turned back on skype and first called Seto. He answered repetitively quickly. "Hello Yugi, how is your treatment going?" Seto said. He found out about Yugi during the KC grand tournament but didn't confront her until after Atem left. Since then, Seto and Yugi have had a closer relationship, almost on a sibling level. He has been more open and friendly to her. "Good. I should be getting discharged tonight. So the reason for my call is that I received a letter from your favorite opponent. I won't tell you how that is possible since you don't believe." She said.
Yugi and Seto agree to disagree regarding what happened between them and the shadow magic. "What does the only real competition I have besides you have to say." He leaned back against his chair. "he's coming back. You will have another chance at the title of king of games." Yugi said, giggling, as she pushed one of her bangs behind her hair. "Let me guess you would like me to get some ids together just in case." Seto smiled as he was amused at Yugi's behavior. It reminds him of his little brother Mokuba. "Yes, please. It won't be just him. His father, Aknamkanon, Isis, Mahad, his cousin Seto, and his childhood friend, Mana." Seto nodded as he wrote down the names. "He also said that Seto wanted to talk to you. Most likely about your belief regarding your heritage, which I think it's a waste of time." Yugi said, rolling her eyes.
"Very well. How are you getting home?" Seto asked in concern.
He still didn't believe her friends could do anything right. "I'll call a cab or walk. The gang is here, and they will be with me." Yugi said, knowing what he was about to say. Since they have gotten closer, Seto has been more protective of Yugi. She usually didn't mind it, but sometimes it wasn't very beneficial. He shook his head. "Send me a text when you are discharged, and I'll send a car." He said. "you're not going to hack the hospital records?" She teased. "I only hack the records if you don't tell me if something wrong." He said with a smile. "I'll text you. Bye, Seto." Yugi waved goodbye. "See you, Yugi." Seto ended the call.
Yugi shook her head at her black screen. "I swear he is going to claim me as his sister one of these days." She looked up and saw her friends looking confused. They didn't know how friendly she was with Seto. "What was that about, Yugi," Joey asked, getting slightly jealous of her friendship with Seto. "Seto and I talked a few weeks after Atem left. Since then, we have been on more friendly terms. I thought he might have a crush on me for a while, but Mokuba told me he had been trying to get Ishizu to go out on a date with him. Now I think he sees me as a sister or close friend." Yugi explains. They nodded. Yugi decided to call the Ishtars the next day since it was getting late.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door, and Dr. Miyazaki walked in with papers in her hand. "I have your discharge papers work and your follow-up appointment in a month." said the doctor as she handed Yugi the form and a pen to sign. "Thanks, Doctor, for everything." Yugi smiled as she signed the paper and sent a text to Seto. "You welcome, Yugi. now unless it's for an appointment, I don't want to see you back here anytime soon, got it, kid." She said. Yugi nodded, giving her a mock salute while Joey grabbed her wedge sandals and bag. Tristen helped her put them on while Tea made sure they had everything. Dr. Miyazaki loved the fact Yugi had such caring friends. Knowing this made her feel more at ease about sending her patients home. She walked them to the door where Seto was waiting with the limo. No one said a word as they all climbed in and headed for the kame Game shop for pizza and soda.
