Chapter four:
Yugi's heart and the pharaoh's power
The following day, sunlight crept into Yugi's room, gently shining over her eyes. Yugi winced and cursed the sun covering her head with the blanket. "why do I even have a window right there. I was having such a great dream. Atem had returned." Yugi said sadly to herself. She started to get up only to feel something warm wrap around her waist. She looked down and saw an arm. She followed the arm to see a person lying next to her. 'Atem, it wasn't a dream,' she thought. Gently she ran her fingers over his cheek. 'he is back,' she said. Subconsciously ran her fingers down his neck to his chest and abs. 'I think I like Atem with a tan. It makes him look so hot' she blushed.
Suddenly but gently, Atem grabbed her hand. "You know that tickles." He said as he sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. "Morning, Aibou, did you sleep well?" he asked. Yugi nodded as she couldn't form words. She couldn't believe how sexy and hot Atem looked in the morning. "I think I like the tan as well," Atem said, making Yugi blush with embarrassment. "You can read my thoughts," Yugi said. 'Yes, I'll never leave you again unless I am kicking and screaming.' Atem told her with his mind pushing the feeling of love to her.
With that said, Yugi broke. She needed to hear that. She lunged into Atem's chest, wrapping her arms around his waist. Atem chuckled as he hugged her. "you have no idea how much I miss you." He said, pulling her up to look into her eyes. "I regrated my choice to leave the moment I enter the afterlife." He added. "You did?" Yugi asked. Atem nodded as he cupped her face. "the moment I entered the afterlife, I felt like something was wrong. Something was missing. I felt the same way when I thought I lost you during the dual with Pegasus and when the orichalcos took your soul due to my stupidity. I promise myself I will never let that happen again. I didn't know how to get back to you. So when the Gods gave me a chance, I jump at it." He said. Yugi could feel what Atem wasn't saying. She could love a massive amount of love rolling off Atem into her. "Why did you come back?" she asked. Atem was confused at first, then he saw her face full of hope. "the more I thought of how much we have been together, the more I realize how much I love you." He said as he brought her face closer to his until their lips met in a sweet but passionate kiss.
They didn't know that from their location and going out, there was a pulse of pure light energy. Most people just felt a sense of happiness wash over them. Those who study magic felt the strength in the wave. On a small, mostly destroyed island was a figure with sandy blonde and golden eyes. "it's time," they said sadly and walked into their cave. At the same time, while he was sleeping, Marik Ishtar's back glowed, and a red light shot up and disappeared into the sky.
Back with Yugi and Atem. They broke the kiss but kept their forehead touching. They were both delighted. Suddenly Yugi pulled away and stood up. She played with the helm of her shirt nervously. "Atem, I need to tell you something, and I hope it doesn't change how you feel about me." She said as she slowly pulled off her shirt to revile a white cotton bra that showed a bit of cleavage. "I am a girl. I have always been a girl. I just haven't been able to develop until recently." She kept her eyes shut, not wanting to see Atem's reaction. Atem got up and cupped her face again. "Yugi, please look at me." Yugi opened her eyes to see Atem with a look of concern and love. "I already knew. I found out a long time ago, but I said nothing out of respect for you. I figure it would come up eventually." He said, kissing her forehead.
Yugi felt relief, but she was curious. "how," she asked. He sat her back down on the bed. "keep in mind this is not what I told my father. He caught me calling you she and her. Do you remember when you woke up in a heated state after the dualist kingdom?" he asked. Yugi blushed at that memory. She had a hot and heavy wet dream. "well, I found out I could enter a person's dream. Whenever I thought you were having a nightmare, I would enter and change the bad dream to a good one." Yugi nodded with understanding.
"I heard you moaning and thought you were having a nightmare." Atem said. "you went in" she finished his sentence. "yes, imagine my surprise when I found you in a compromising position, that when I found out you were are a girl. I was even more surprised when I saw who you were with, me," He said, raising an eyebrow, teasing her a bit. Yugi's face turned an even darker shade of red. "at the time; I won't say I wasn't interested. I even got a little hot and bothered myself at seeing us together." He said, turning a little red himself. "I was going to talk to you about it later, but then we found out about me and started on my journey of finding my memories. It never seemed like a good time. As I stated, I realize how much I loved you." Atem said.
Yugi took a deep breath and decided to take a risk. She ran her fingers up and down his chest and abdomen, getting very close to his groin. "not right away. Maybe one day we can see if reality is better than a dream." She said seductively. Atem felt his member start to twitch, begin to get hard. "why you little minx." He said. He couldn't believe his innocent light would try something so bold. He jumped on her and started tickling her sides mercilessly. "No, Atem, you know I am very ticklish. Hehe," she cried. Either Atem or Yugi noticed how close they were to the edge of the bed until they fell off it. Atem landed between Yugi's legs. "ow," they both said before busting up laughing. Atem placed his forehead onto Yugi. "I love you, my aibou." He said, rubbing their nose together in an Eskimo kiss. "I love you too, my Yami," she said, returning the kiss. Atem helped her up. "let's get dressed and get some breakfast." He said. Yugi nodded and went over to her closet.
She pulled out a dark red corset top with black leggings with a black mini skirt over them. She also pulled out a black jean jacket. Once again, Atem turned away from her out of respect while changing. Once she was done, Yugi found Atem wearing a similar outfit. He wore a black muscle shirt, dark blue jeans, metal bracelets, and his neck belt choker. Yugi brought her hand up to her bare neck. Atem noticed this. "Yugi is your neck hurting?" he asked. Yugi said nothing and went over to her new jewelry box. She pulled out a black choker with small ruby in front. She put it on and smiled at Atem. "it feels strange not wearing one." She said. Atem smiled as he walked over to her. "it's beautiful just like you." He said, giving her one more kiss before taking her hand and escorting her to the kitchen, where Aknamkanon and grandpa greeted them.
"Good morning Grandpa, Aknamkanon/father," they said in unison. Grandpa brought Aknamkanon and himself some coffee. "good morning, Atem, Yugi, did you sleep alright?" Grandpa asked. "better than I have in a long time." Yugi said. "I agree," Atem said, bringing her hand to his lips for a kiss. "I feel whole again." He added. Yugi nodded in agreement. "I can see that, so what are the plans for today." Aknamkanon asked, looking up from the newspaper, trying to keep himself up to current events. "the guys should be here soon to continue our discussion from yesterday." Atem said. Suddenly the doorbell rang. "and that should be them. I'll let them in." he said, standing up and walking into the hall to the front door.
"Yugi, there is something I want to discuss with you," Grandpa said somewhat seriously. Yugi nodded as grandpa sat down across from her. "I know that Atem is back, and I know how you feel about him, but I hope you are using your head and don't rush into anything." He said. Yugi's eyes went cold, and the temperature in the room dropped a few degrees. "are you comparing me to my cousins, Grandfather, the ones who sleep with anyone and don't care about what could happen. I thought you knew me better than that." She said coldly. Grandpa knew he messed up. Yugi rarely calls him Grandfather unless she was pissed. "ill let you know something. Although we haven't discussed sex yet, when we have it, we will be using protection unless he puts a ring on my finger and I take his last name, no matter the name. Please don't mention it again." Yugi said, not noticing her voice was getting louder to the point she was yelling. She stood up and walked into the living room. Grandpa shook his head, not sure what to say. Aknomkanon placed a hand on his shoulder. "We can talk about it later." He said. Grandpa nodded and went to get drinks for their guest.
Atem opens the door to see the Kaibas, the Ishtars, Yugi's friends, Mahad and Mana. "Morning Atem, how are…" they were cut off by Yugi's yelling, "he put a ring on my finger, and I take his last name, no matter what the name is." Atem could sense Yugi was greatly upset but could tell by what. "I don't think I ever hear Yugi that mad before." Tea said. Joey and Tristen agree with her before entering the living room to find Yugi going through her card on the couch. Atem sat down next to her and placed a strain of hair behind her ear. "You alright?" he asked. Yugi looked at him, trying to calm down. Atem could have sworn her eyes changed from regular amethyst to dark red, then back to amethyst. "ill tell you later," she said. Grandpa and Aknomkanon came in with Tea. "Yugi, I…" Grandpa started to speak only to be cut off by Yugi. "it's fine, grandfather." She said, taking a cup from him. Tea, Joey, and Tristen had wide eyes. They never hear Yugi call Solomon, grandfather, in a hateful tone. She would sometimes say it to defend him, but in anger, she told grandpa to drop whatever he would say till later. They knew something was wrong, but they let it go for now.
Seto sat down in the recliner and opened his laptop. "So just to recap. Atem, his father, Seth, and Isis are good to go. Mahad and Mana are tougher. Either one of them has a living reincarnation that we know of." He said, looking over some files. Yugi pulled out her Dark magician and Dark magician girl cards. "unless you count these two." She laid the cards on the table so everyone could see them.
Suddenly both cards started to glow, and with a small pop, both monsters were in the living room, kneeling before Yugi. "Good morning, Mistress," they said in unison. Everyone had wide eyes and opened mouths in shock. Tea was the first to recover. "okay, does anyone know what is happening here? First Kuriboh and now these two." She asked. Dm (dark magician) and Dmg (dark magician girl) look at each other. "good ahead," Dm said. Dmg giggle, sat down on the arm of the couch next to Yugi. "When Atem went into the afterlife, all of the pharaoh's power or shadow magic transferred to Yugi, and even though he has returned, the power remains with her, Mistress Yugi," she said. Yugi blushed at the Mistress Yugi title. "Even if she didn't have the power, the local census of duel monsters is they all love and adore her," Dm said. Yugi's blush only deepened as Dm spoke. "Yes, and as long as she carries her deck with her, we can help in any way we can." Dmg said giving Yugi a hug. "So that's why you couldn't help yesterday. I didn't have my deck." Yugi said. Both monsters nodded sadly.
"Please forgive me, but I thought the pharaoh's power could only be transferred from the pharaoh to his successor," Isis said as she cocked her head to one side. "not true, Isis," Seth said. Everyone looked at him. He sat on the loveseat with his hands folded and chin rested. "As you remember, I was Atem's successor, even though I ruled for many years before my death," Seth said before Atem interrupted him. "You did very well according to the stone tablet." He said. Seth nodded and continued. "I never received the pharaoh's power. I assume when Atem was a seal in the puzzle, the power was seal as well." Seth said. Everyone agreed with his assessment. "So Yugi has all of Atem's powers, even the mind crush?" Tea asked. "mostly likely." Seth answered.
Yugi leaned her head on Atem's shoulder and hid her face in his arm. She remembered the two times Atem used the mind crush power. It scared her and how she had that power. Atem could sense how scared Yugi was regarding the power. "She doesn't have to use it if she doesn't want to." He said, patting her hand and kissing the top of her head to calm her down. Dmg rubbed her back. "never fear, milady. You have the two of us and all of our friends to help." She said with a smile. Dm stood up. "we must be getting back to our realm." He leaned toward Yugi taking her chin in his slim fingers. "if you need us, please don't hesitate to call upon us." He said. Yugi nodded as he vanished. "That includes if you just need something to cuddle with and Atem is not around," Dmg said, giving her a wink before disappearing.
"As I was saying, Mahad and Mana are the ones I am having a hard time with," Seto said with his chin between his thumb and pointer fingers while looking over his files. Yugi looked at Mahad and Mana. "could I make a suggestion?" she said. Seto looked up at her. Yugi look over at Mahad. "Please correct me if I am wrong. But weren't you Atem's teacher also part of his court of magicians?" she asks. Mahad immediately caught on to what Yugi was thinking. "yes, I taught almost all the children who lived in the palace. I did enjoy teaching even if some of my pupils were more challenging than others." He said, glaring at both Atem and Mana, who chuckled nervously. "Could you get some teaching certification for Mahad in the modern age, maybe history?" She said. Seto's fingers flew across the keyboard. "Excellent idea, Yugi. Would that alright with you, Mahad?" he asked.
Mahad nodded, looking forward to teaching again. "Mana could be his little sister or…" Yugi said, looking between Isis and Mahad. Isis noticed what Yugi was looking at, A diamond wedding band on her left finger, and Mahad had a matching one on his hand. It causes her and Mahad to chuckle. "we have only known her for 24 hours, and she already figure it out." Isis said as she sat down in Mahad's lab. Everyone was confused, even Aknamkanon. "we're married. We had been married before Aknamkanon's death. So it wouldn't be a problem for Mana to be our daughter." Mahad said, placing a hand on Mana's shoulder, who was sitting against his leg. "I think of them as my mother and father since I never knew my real ones." She said, squeezing Mahad's hand. "Perfect, I'll have these finalized in a few days," Seto said as he closed his laptop.
"Now what," he asked. Tea jumped up and smiled. "Why don't we head to the mall. I bet our friends will need some new clothes to get accustomed to the modern world." She said. "Good idea, Tea. We can't keep borrowing clothes." Isis said. Ishizu looked at her new twin sister. "you know I don't mind sharing my clothes." She said. Isis smiled at her. "that might be true, but still…." She said, not wanting to insult her new sister. She never had a sister before. "Sister, you know they have that new historical jewelry store you wanted to check out," Marik said as Ishizu blushed and glared at her brother. The latter smiled innocently before turning serious again.
"Before we go, I have a question." Marik said nervously. "since you all have returned, is there any possibility of others returning." He asks, not looking up at them. Yugi got up and kneeled on both her knees next to him. "what do you mean?" she asked. He took a deep breath. "this morning, when I woke up, I thought I felt him for a second. It was faint, but it was there." Marik said, frightened. Ishizu and Odion place a hand on his shoulder. "why didn't you say anything before?" Odion asked. Everyone was concerned. "I didn't want to alarm anyone, and ….." Marik couldn't bring himself to say what he was feeling.
Yugi placed a hand on his. He looked up at her and saw bright eyes. "After he was sent to the shadow realm, I was happy at first. Then I felt like something was wrong. Something was missing. I started to think about it before the initiation. I always felt a warm, welcome presence even though we live underground. After the initiation, it turned cold. It was only when I near Odion I felt the warmth again. Then when our father beat Odion to a point, I thought he would kill him. The warm presence disappeared completely." Marik had tears leaking from his eyes as he tried to fight them. "what do you feel now?" Yugi asked, treating it like only she and Marik was in the room. "The warm presence is coming back. I didn't notice it until this morning, and my back hurt slightly." He said. Yugi look at Atem then back to Marik. 'I wonder,' she thought. After she and Atem had their first kiss, she also felt a warm presence. She thought it was just with Atem, so she didn't think of it till now. "Marik, Forgive me, but I need you to remove your shirt." She said.
Marik looked at her, confused. "please just bear with me." She added. Marik nodded and took off his sleeveless light purple hoodie. He turns to show Yugi his back, who gasps. "what?" he asked. Everyone looks to see what Yugi saw. "Some carvings have disappeared. The one under where Slifer the sky dragon was." She said. Marik jumped to a nearby mirror. He saw she was right. "what does that mean." He asked. "I don't know but going back to your question. Even if he did, we would take care of it. You are our friend, and we won't let anyone mess with you." she said as she got up and gave him a hug which he returned. "besides, I got a gut feeling that your dark half wasn't evil." Everyone looked at her in confusion. "Correct me if I am wrong, but you three were forced to live underground, with no opportunities to figure out what you want to do with your life, right?" Yugi asked. They nodded. "what if you were given that chance. What if you were given a choice to live above ground. Would your dark side exist?" Yugi said with conviction. That statement made everyone think.
She walked over to Atem taking his hand. "it's the same with Bakura," she said, squeezing Atem's hand. "young one, please explain." Aknamkanon gently demanded. Atem and the others told him all about what Bakura did after his death. He was interested in hearing Yugi's thoughts. Yugi took a drink of her Tea before speaking. "Bakura saw his whole village killed before his very eyes. No one told him why nor was anyone there to help through the grieving process. He might not even be allowed to grieve." She said. What Yugi was saying was making everyone rethink Dark Marik and Bakura. "If they both came back and showed remorse. I would give them another chance." She said. "We needed you 5 thousand years ago, Yugi," Seth said as he smiled at her. "Your compassion would have been greatly welcome in the pharaoh's court," Isis said. Aknamkanon chuckled. "if you and your grandfather lived while I was ruling, I would have sought a betrothal between you and Atem." He said. Both Yugi and Atem blush to hear that. "Father…" Atem started to say, but Yugi cut him off. "While it's an honor to be considered, what your son and I have is still too early to discuss a possibility of an engagement or marriage." She said.
All the Egyptians couldn't believe what they were hearing. "she can even give a respectful, diplomatic rejection. Solomon moto, are you aware your granddaughter could have been a princess or maybe even a queen on her own in our time." Seth said, shaking his head. "the last time we heard Yugi talk like that was when we met Mr. Hawkins and Rebecca." Joey joked.
Yugi's eyes widen in surprise when she remembers Rebecca. "what's wrong, Aibou." Atem asked when he was her face. "Rebecca. As far as I know, she doesn't know the truth about me and still has a huge crush on me." She said. "Yugi, yes, she doesn't know about you being a girl. I know that according to Arthur, she had been hangout with that Leon Von Schroeder. She may no longer have that crush anymore." Grandpa said. He and Mr. Hawkins have been talking quite a bit. Grandpa did tell him about Yugi, but he didn't know if Arthur told his granddaughter. "Let's hope, so I don't want to see that reaction. Thanks, grandpa." Yugi said. Grandpa smiled as he knew Yugi had calmed down since their disagreement earlier. They will have to talk about it, but that'll be later.
"We will worry about Rebecca another day. Let's go to the mall." Tea said as she pulled Yugi up. Yugi could help but laugh at Tea's antics. "Tea, let me check my account. I am not sure I have enough to cover everything they may need. Some of the prize money from tournaments have cleared the bank yet." Yugi said as she pulled out her cellphone to check her account. Atem placed a hand on top of her cellphone. "Yugi, when the gods allow us to return. They allow us to bring our wealth with us. Each of us had a bank account with 1 billion dollars." He said. Yugi thought if one more surprise came out, she would lose it. "All right, then let's get going." She said. She didn't want to think about the money. Yes, she earned quite a bit of money from the recent duel tournament she was in but not that much, and most of it went to her saving for college or her first car.
"it will be best if we take my limo," Seto said as he opened the door to the said car. He motioned for all of them to get in. once in, he tapped the front window to let the driver know they were ready and took off. Yugi sat next to him. "You know I am amazed at you, Seto." She said. Seto looked at her in slight confusion. "what do you mean?" he asked. "a couple of years ago, you would ever help us out or even hang out with us. We wouldn't have been able to do half of the stuff we accomplished. So what I am trying to say is thank you. For everything." She said.
Seto stared at her with his intense eyes. Everyone seemed to be holding their breath, unsure how this would play out. Yes, Seto Kaiba might have become friendlier to them but still. Slowly he broke out a genuinely warm smile. "it's not a problem, Yugi. I agree. A few years ago, I wouldn't think twice about a couple of losers. I guess you grew on me." He said as he looked out the window. Yugi smiled as she also looked out the window. Joey was going to say something, but Tea stomped on his foot, effectively shutting him up.
