Later that morning...
Buttercup opened her eyes.
For a moment, she panicked that she wasn't in her bedroom with Blossom and Bubbles beside her, but then she remembered and stood up, stretching.
"Wow, so it all wasn't a nightmare after all." She said to herself.
"Um, young lady?" A voice said.
Turning around, Buttercup saw a woman who seemed to be on her late twenties.
"Are you lost, sweetie?"
Buttercup got ready to fly again, but before she could a thought kept coming to her. I can't keep on living in the streets, I could get worse So she took a deep breath, and nodded.
Buttercup let the nice lady carry her to her car and, surprisingly, she already had a booster seat. Maybe she had kids.
"You're Buttercup, aren't you? The Powerpuff Girl?"
Did she and her sisters really had to be well known?
"Yeah."
"That was quite a night you had yesterday."
Alarm crept into Buttercup. Did the whole world see it?
"I'm gonna have to call and say I can't work today." The woman said. "I'll be right back. My name's Rachel, by the way." She said, she then backed up from the car to take the call.
Once finished, Rachel moved to the driver's seat, put her seat belt on, and the car soon began to move.
"Just wondering, ma'am. Where exactly are we going?"
"Home." She replied.
Blossom gazed at the window. For about thirty minutes straight, she hoped to see a familiar, green flash.
But it didn't came.
The Professor had excused the girls from school today because of the issue. The toasts he gave Blossom were right beside her, but she didn't eat, fearing that if she looked away from the window for a second, she wouldn't see if the green flash came into view.
Suddenly, a memory took control of her eyes.
Blossom frustratedly threw another paper to the garbadge can, which was getting filled by the second. She didn't have homework, but she wanted to practice on her spelling. Ms. Keane had told everyone to practice for their spelling test that Friday. And still, Blossom still didn't know how to spell some things such as Alligator, Lemonade, Woodchuck, and Spaghetti. She sighed as she leaned back on her chair and rubbed her temples with stress. As she did, however, she noticed outside the window it was snowing. A thing that usually didn't happen.
She heard the door opened, and Buttercup and Bubbles entered the room. "Come outside!" Bubbles said excitedly. "It's snowing!!!"
Despite actually wanting to go, Blossom shook her head. "Thanks, but no. I gotta figure this spelling out. You guys have fun."
Bubbles' pigtails fell with sadness. Seriously, how does she do it? Blossom wondered. "Agh, alright." Bubbles left the room.
But Buttercup didn't fell for it. She floated towards Blossom and grabbed her paper.
"Hey, Buttercup!" Blossom reached for her paper but Buttercup held it higher. "Come on! Give me a break!"
Buttercup shook her head. "Not until you take a break from your stupid studies and go play outside for at least five minutes."
Despite Buttercup disturbing her thinking, Blossom laughed and smiled. "You're not gonna leave me alone until I go outside, aren't you?" Oddly, she already even forgot she was studying in the first place.
Buttercup smirked. "Yep. Now come on, grab a sweater and let's see who can make the biggest snowman."
They played for hours.
Blossom's eyes got ready for tears the tenth time that morning.
She looked up at the sky. My sister wouldn't leave me, she told herself, she will be back and we will find her
"We're here." Rachel announced.
Buttercup looked from the window to where they were.
A mansion.
It's front yard was decorated with topiary trees. And a gravel path beyond the front gates led to the front doors of the mansion.
"Wow..." She whispered. She then unbuckled her seatbelt and followed Rachel to the entrance.
In the main living room, Rachel pointed on a couch for Buttercup to sit in. "I'm a doctor, so i'm just gonna check on you to make sure you're nice and strong." Buttercup nodded, embracing herself for the pain she'll receive in just a few seconds.
Rachel slowly pressed on the left side of Buttercup's stomach. Buttercup winced.
"That hurts?"
Buttercup couldn't help but nod.
The nurse then nodded at Buttercup's skin. "Those are quite a few bruses, I'll put some special cream on those."
She then shined a light in Buttercup's eyes. "I saw you with a patch last night, but it looks like you're okay. If you don't mind me asking, how did you got it?"
"Knife."
"A knife!?"
Before Buttercup could answer, Rachel hugged Buttercup and gave her a small kiss in her forehead. "You're safe, don't worry."
Buttercup felt her eyes widen and heart stop for a second, the whole world seemed to stop for a second. She didn't remember the last time she got kissed by a woman.
Sure, the Professor kissed them goodnight every day, but with a woman...
Maybe she finally found a mother.
I'm not gonna cry.
I'm not gonna cry.
I'm not gonna cry.
Later...
Rachel gave the last one of Buttercup's bruse cream and let go.
"All done with that."
Buttercup sighed in relief, finally, no more doctor stuff.
"Now we're gonna get your temperature and teeth a look."
Buttercup's heart sank.
Rachel reached Buttercup's level. "Open wide."
Embarrassment flooded through Buttercup but she opened her mouth.
"Oh my..." Rachel backed down and looked at Buttercup with a stren glance. "Who did this to you?"
"B-B-B-Bad guys." Buttercup wasn't just gonna frame her sisters in front of the really concerned nurse.
Her sisters...
She wondered what they were doing now.
Rachel sighed. "In my option at least, five-year-olds shouldn't be fighting crime and having a whole city to their hands."
Buttercup thought of what it would be like for her if she didn't have powers in the first place. She would be... normal.
Before she could think more of what it would be like to live a regular childhood, Rachel spoke, holding a thermometer in one hand. "I'm gonna put this thermometer inside your mouth, alright? I promise it will not hurt."
Buttercup nodded nervously as the thin item entered her mouth. After a while, it finally buzzed. Buttercup flinched when it did.
Rachel gently took it and nearly dropped it when she saw it. "One hundred and five degrees! You're gonna stay here a while, Buttercup."
The Powerpuff didn't see the point in arguing in that.
"I also checked, i'm sorry, Buttercup. But it looks as if you're suffering from shock. You also have nerve problems because of your teeth injuries, and it's causing an infection to spread to your stomach. You might need proper teeth surgery to stop it before it properly spreads and gets worse. It'll aslo heal your nerves."
Buttercup began to panic. Fever, shock, nerve injuries, teeth surgery, stomach infection. Has anyone survived all of those before?
Before she could asks questions to Rachel, the door opened, and in came in two girls which looked like they had her age. What shocked her is that they looked very familiar. One had long, red hair like Blossom, and the same eyes too. The other had blonde hair just like Bubbles with the same blue eyes, except instead of pigtails, her hair was well brushed in a ponytail.
Once they noticed Buttercup they stopped and stared in confusion.
Rachel stood up and smiled. "Buttercup, these are my girls, the red haired one is Erica, and the blonde one is Emily. Although they are twins, Erica's the oldest. Girls, this is Buttercup the Powerpuff girl, she'll be staying with us for a while."
For a moment, as they rushed to Buttercup, she expected laughing and insults, but instead, she heard. "Hello," and "Hi."
Buttercup finally opened her eyes.
"You're a long way from home." Erica said.
"You don't look well." Emily added.
"Girls, please." Rachel said. "She's our guest, remember?" She then looked at Buttercup. "Why don't you shower right now, and afterwards we'll eat some lunch. Emily, would you show her the bathroom?" Her youngest daughter nodded and signaled to Buttercup to follow her.
Buttercup did. Forgeting she hated baths in the first place. Along the way, couldn't help but smile. She was with The Perfect Family.
