As the young woman was walking out of the old building, she tried to keep hold of her emotions. Her entire family had just been murdered. And for what, really? The man who claimed to have known the future failed in his plan to take over her power. Did her family really die for nothing?

'No' Frieda thought as she slumped over the wooden doors 'it was all to preserve the peace…'

The peace that she has been forced to protect by the will of Karl Fritz. If what the intruder was saying was true, the young woman could never be sure if she really wanted to believe in the teachings of the first king. Sure, she's been brought up to be a pacifist, but the sheer rage that took her over once she saw the mangled corpses of her closest relatives could never compare to anything that she had heard when she was a little girl.

"Your majesty!"

The young woman looked up to see a few soldiers running up to her. For a moment she considered the haggard state that her attire was in. Even though it didn't seem to be doing anything, for some reason she forced herself to straighten up her clothes.

"What happened?!" One of the military policemen asked her after they've reached the doors.

Frieda was starting to feel effects that the traumatic experience left upon her. A deep feeling of uncertainty over her decision making left her greatly confused.

"A revolutionary tried to take away my power" she slowly explained, looking at the surprised faces of her subordinates "but he's been put down…"

"What revolutionary…?"

"Are you hurt, your majesty…?"

All these questions were making her head spin. The young woman was desperately trying to focus her mind on the events that had taken place just minutes ago, yet whenever she thought about her dead parents, brothers and sisters, her brain would just shut.

The only thing she knew for real, was that something had to be done, right now.

"Kenny!" Frieda cried out.

The crowd of military policemen went silent. The tallest soldier, wearing a fancy top hat, stepped forward.

"Aye…" He spoke as he looked up.

Whenever the royal family needed something done, the best person to turn to, was always Kenny Ackerman. While the man was well known for his wrongdoings during his stay in the underground, her late uncle managed to make him join their cause. Over time, he proved himself to be a valuable asset, especially when it came to dirty, difficult tasks.

"Where is the breach in the wall?" The young woman asked him with the most serious tone that she could muster at this extreme moment.

"Shiganshina" Kenny responded.

"The revolutionary lived there with his family, before he attacked us" Frieda explained, recollecting the intruder's words "I want you to find them."

"That's more like it" the tall rogue said with a smile "finally, somethin' cool…"

"Excuse me, your majesty…"

The young woman looked over to see a worried expression of another policeman.

"What is it?" She asked him.

"Could you please tell me if Lord Reiss and the rest of your…"

"They're dead" Frieda suddenly exclaimed.

All of the soldiers looked at her in shock. Seeing that they wanted her to elaborate, the young woman closed her eyes, before continuing.

"The attacker managed to kill all of the other members of my family" she explained without emotion "all of you who don't have anything to do, will have to go down there and retrieve their remnants for a proper burial…"

"Remnants…?"

"Oh my…"

"How could the revolutionary even…"

"Enough!" Frieda cried out with authority.

This seemed to have brought the military policemen out of panic. Noticing that, the young woman continued.

"I am still the ruler of the walls. This changes nothing between us. My family have died, so the peace that we all so desire could be maintained."

Frieda looked over the faces of her subordinates. Amongst confusion, she could also see honest sadness in their eyes. The only odd thing that stung her was Kenny's wide smile.

"What's so funny?" She asked the smiling man.

"Nothin', I swear…" he exclaimed holding back a laugh "…respect to your folks…"

She knew that he had hated her father, ever since the two of them met. Yet, his role in preserving the internal peace was way too great to simply dispose of him.

'At least he held his tongue.'

"That's what I thought" Frieda exclaimed after a moment "everyone! Soon we'll have to deal with many more important problems, regarding the fall of wall Maria. After you're done with the burials, I want you to return to your normal tasks. Understood?!"

"Yes, your majesty!"

"Good" she spoke with a feeling of relief "now, get to work!"

As the crowd of soldiers began to disperse, she saw that Kenny was slowly walking up to her.

"What exactly do we know about the guy?" He simply asked, once he made sure they would not be overheard.

Once more, Frieda tried to think through everything that she had learned from that short talk with the intruder.

"He knew about the secret location" she stated "he's been spying on the royal family for years. He must be someone important, someone who was known by a lot of nobles…"

"And what about Shiganshina?"

The man was from the outside world. With this kind of knowledge, he must've outstood in some way.

"Search for any unusual events that had taken place in the last thirteen years" she ordered "I have suspicions that this individual was out of place."

"Out of place?"

Frieda looked deeply into the rogue's eyes.

"Anything that might seem impossible or simply improbable."

"Right" Kenny responded with mixed feelings "and what to do with his family?"

"If they're still alive, you'll be looking for his wife, son and daughter" Frieda spoke.

Suddenly, she wasn't sure about any of this. Why was she even ordering Ackerman to find them? The reasonable part of her screamed that they could pose a threat to the peace, by their close affiliation to the revolutionary. However, the real reason the young woman wanted this information was way too wrong for her to admit.

With fresh pictures of her slaughtered family, Frieda wanted to take revenge.

'Don't overreact' she thought all of a sudden 'they might be innocent…'

Was this her own thoughts? Or was this Karl Fritz speaking? Nonetheless, she quickly decided on what to do.

"Just find them…" She spoke with a heavy heart "I shall decide on what to do, when I meet them…"

"Fine…" Kenny responded with a tiresome expression "I'll find his brats and the wench…"

And with that, he walked off.

She was left alone.

The young woman collapsed to her knees.

Frieda could finally feel the whole weight of this tragedy. She wanted to cry and scream. She wanted to curse the power of titans and even the very notion of pacifism that led to this moment. But she still needed to keep an appearance. Even if it was just to convince her own self of the importance of this peace, that she was the protector of.

"Why did they have to die…" The young woman sobbed quietly.

Nearly her whole family was gone. In seconds. Only, because she was too slow…

Suddenly, she jolted up.

Not all of her family was gone.

'I will protect you…' Frieda thought fiercely 'I will do everything in my power to keep you away from all the suffering…'

And with this newfound resolve, she walked forward.
