Chapter 13:
you did what?
A couple of hours later, they meet the gang at Seto's house. They were having a picnic in the backyard under the Sakura tree whose petals were falling around them. "So tell me again, what happens?" Joey asked, still not understanding. Yugi giggled. "Atem was never supposed to be sealed in the puzzle. He and Yuki were supposed to combine their power to defeat Zorc the first time. But when Yuki died, it threw the whole universe out of whack. So the gods had to find a way to put it back in balance. So they found me and knew I would get Atem's and Yuki's power. They wanted to ensure I had people around me to keep me balanced. I have you, Tea, Tristen, the Ishtars, the Kaibas, and grandpa. But the Gods also decide that Atem, Mia, and Bakura also need a second chance. They allowed Atem to come back to me, and they sent Mia and Bakura to Ryo and Marik." Yugi said. "we just got a little lost along the way." Mia said, snuggling into Marik, who squeezed her. "what about Yuki?" Tea asked. "I was never meant to be with Atem, regardless of how I felt," Yuki said, pushing a strain behind her ear. "Correction, you were not meant to be with Yami. If things worked out the way they were supposed to, you would have lived a long, happy life with Atem and reincarnated as me. Just like Atem would have become Yami." Yugi said. "but I thought you were her reincarnation, Yugi," Tristen said. Yugi shook her head. "no. think of us as twin sisters, two sides of the same coin but not the same person." She said.
Tea suddenly had a thought come to her. "The figures in the hospital." she exclaimed. "What figures in the hospital?" Yugi asked. "The day we almost you. Three figures were standing around you when the doctors were getting ready to call it quits. Tristen, Joey, and I thought it was either Atem or maybe Lady Yuki and her siblings, but now I am thinking it was the three Egyptian Gods, bring you back to us. Guess we should thank them." she said. "it's possible with Yugi being Slifer's daughter, like myself, I very much doubt they would want her to die early," Yuki said, taking a sip of iced tea.
"so what is going to happen now? We have three Yugis, three Mariks, and Three Bakura. Man, that will get confusing," Mokuba said, rubbing his temples, trying to suppress a headache. Yugi took a drink of her soda. "I don't think so," she said. Yuki flipped her hair. "And what makes you say that Yugi," she said, teasing her little sister. "Because your ride is here," Yugi said, pointing to the gate. Everyone looked and saw three pure white horses and standing holding the rain was Pharaoh Atem in the pharaoh's clothes, smiling. Yuki couldn't believe what she was seeing. She jumped up and ran to him. "Atem!" she yelled, crying happy tears as he caught her in his arms, laughing.
"What the hell, now we have two Atem?" Joey said. "No, Joey. To maintain balance, they split the pharaoh into two people. Pharaoh Atem stayed in the afterlife, waiting for Yuki while Yami returned to me." Yugi said, snuggling into Yami before standing up. Yuki dried her eyes and turned to look at Yugi. "I don't know how you knew but thank you. You did save us all." Yuki said as she cupped Yugi's cheek. "Will we ever see you guys again?" Yugi said. "Maybe, but remember, even if we are in the afterlife, I am still with you. " Yuki said, pointing to Yugi's heart before climbing onto one of the horses. Lady Mia and Lord Bakura had ready to mount their horses. Pharaoh Atem was about mount behind her, then stopped. He looked up at her and winked. "Yami," he said before tossing something at him. Yami caught it. it was a soft velvet box. "don't make the same mistake twice." He said as he mounted the horse sitting behind Yuki with his arms around her. He clicked his heels, and the horses started to take off into the sky into the sun.
Yugi looked at the box Atem had given Yami. "what's that, Yami?" she asked. He opened it only to close it before Yugi could see it, smiling. "Grandpa, I need a word." He said back to grandpa moto. "you have my blessing, son." Grandpa yelled, knowing what Yami wanted. Yami turned back to Yugi and got down on one knee. Everyone knew what he was doing. "Yugi, we have been through hell and back. Will you join me for one more adventure?" he said, opening the box for her to reveal a diamond and amethyst gold engagement ring. Yugi started to cry, happy tears. "Will you marry me?" he asked. Yugi had her fingers cover her mouth as she couldn't speak, but she shook her head up and down. Yami took the ring out of the box, slipped it onto her ring finger, and then picked her up and swung her around. Everyone cheered and hollered in congratulation. Grandpa chuckled at seeing his granddaughter so happy, and he turned to Aknamkanon taking a sip of his tea. "I told you we need to start making plans." He said. The laughter filled the air as Yugi and Yami started their next adventure.
