Episode 0: The End of the Beginning
Ashened skies covered the cityscape. The smell of smoldering rubble burned through the air as everything laid in ruin. Cities were trampled and destroyed amidst a battle between two giants, one born from light, and the other created from darkness. Only few remained alive amongst the destruction and chaos, aiding the Giant of Light in his battle. Their fight had been so lengthy, that the two crossed multiple cities until they reached the outskirts near the ocean. It seems even nature wasn't safe.
"Shuwa!" The Ultra cried as he clashed blows with his dark counterpart. The jet-black giant mirrored his moves perfectly. It knew his weaknesses, his strengths, his techniques, and his limits. Vanguard could tell this was a losing battle. His color timer rapidly blinked red, signaling the ultra's weakened state. Vanguard's blows were no longer effective; his movement was sluggish and rougher than Mezias'.
Mezias caught the Ultra by his wrist during one of the attempts, gripping it tightly and forced Vanguard to fall to his knees. "You could never hope to win against me. After all, why resist the inevitable?" Every attempt to flee or finish the fight had all ended in failure, the Dark Ultra had always found a way to counteract them.
"The future is already set in stone!" He declared, creating an energy blade in his right hand. The JEDF had arrived at the scene with their advanced vehicles and weaponry, but by the time they had arrived, it was already too late. Sensing that they would try to stop him, Mezias thrusted the blade into Vanguard's chest, mortally wounding the Ultra.
They opened fire on Mezias, suppressing the giant and forcing him to take a more defensive position against the barrage. Vanguard gripped his chest tightly, his life force bleeding through the wound. He knew that he didn't have much time left, and the galaxy would certainly be overtaken by Mezias.
"Haaan..Tyowah!" He cried out, transforming into a multi-colored form. Vanguard put his hands close to his chest, creating a concentrated form of energy directly from his color timer. A ray of light was released and fired towards Mezias. The dark ultra swiftly avoided the attack, but it didn't matter anyways; Vanguard had hoped that it missed.
The ray had managed to tear a hole through space-time, creating a wormhole behind Mezias. With the last of his energy, Vanguard flew towards Mezias and tackled him into the wormhole, bringing the giant along with him. The Dark Ultra attempted to escape from within but was dragged back by Vanguard.
After only a few seconds, the wormhole closed as quickly as it had appeared. Members of the JEDF had left their vehicles to see just what had happened, grateful that the Giant of Light had given them a chance to thrive once more.
"Vanguard, you bastard!" Mezias roared in anger, attempting to push Vanguard off him as they traveled further into the wormhole. The Ultra persisted until the end, as the two had suddenly appeared in the black void of space, in a time before their battle.
Baffled and livid with rage, Mezias put both of his wrists next to each other to create a blast of electricity, only to feel that something was restricting him from moving any further. He had begun to freeze up in the vacuum of space. His attack was halted as he was forced to watch Vanguard's body slowly fade away into particles of white mist, resembling the stars behind them. The last thing that he would ever hear was the Ultra's color timer, slowly beeping quiet and quieter, until there was nothing.
To any other being, this surely spelt their own victory. But for Mezias… it wasn't. It meant that Vanguard would be there to stop him once more. The only question was: who would it be this time?
And so, lost within the void of space and lightyears away from any signs of life in the known universe, Mezias was imprisoned.
