What Flynn doesn't know is that this won't be his last encounter with the Terminal Guardian... The guy is basically a recurring villain that pops up from time to time, and that's just my opinion, but I believe despite him Working for the Ashura-kai, the Terminal Guardian came to respect Flynn with every victory the boy had against him.

Ps - Have you ever thought about the possibility of turning Terminal Guardian into a funny element in the fanfic? As I recall, in each of his appearances, the Terminal Guardian used a different disguise to try to trick Flynn, to the point where he even dressed up as a woman. This guy really reminded me of the trio of Team Rocket, Jesse, James and Meow from Pokemon. Hehehe! -Lucian Naruto

Exactly. He will indeed be a reoccurring comedic antagonist. Honestly, I mostly gave him Pot of Greed because Flynn hasn't gotten a new card in awhile.

Chapter 4 Connection

In Mikado…

New crown Samurai were lined up in a massive group. A group of rowdy citizens were off to the side.

"Yeah, go kill those ritual sorcerers!", citizen 1 said.

"They're the reason my friend and sister died! Kill them all!", citizen 2 cheered.

"Get them!", citizen 3 cheered.

In Shinjuku…

"Are they sure about letting those 'angels' stay here?", one of the underground residents questioned another.

"Just try not to mess with those guys. They have real solid vision.", another replied.

Many were keeping their distance from the Samurai being rather afraid of them.

"The spiky haired guy said your the strongest so I'm dueling you.", Nanashi replied to the perplexed Flynn.

"But that was after-", Jonathan was questioning.

"Sounds fun. How about it, Flynn?", Walter said.

"Okay…? I accept.", Flynn replied, nodding still confused that Nanashi specifically wanted to duel him.

The two sat down in front of the mat. Flynn switched out Allure of Darkness for Pot of Greed in his deck. Nanashi held out his hand for Rock Paper Scissors.

"They do that here too?", Flynn thought.

Flynn threw rock and Nanashi threw scissors. Nanashi looked at his hand sweat dropping.

"Again?", Nanashi questioned as Flynn sweat dropped.

"I will go first.", Flynn said.

Issachar wondered what kind of deck he'd have. Judging by what Nozomi said it seemed most people in Tokyo didn't have synchro monsters like their home.

"Duel.", Flynn said, as he looked over to Nanashi who was giving him a funny look.

Nanashi LP 4000

Flynn LP 4000

"Why do you guys say that at the beginning?", Nanashi questioned and Flynn cupped his chin.

"I don't know. I just do it because everyone who duels in Mikado does.", Flynn replied, shrugging.

"I guess the Terminal Guardian was just following Flynn's lead when he said 'duel'.", Issachar thought.

"I draw.", Flynn said.

Flynn

Hand: 6

"I activate Call of the Mummy. Once per turn I can special summon a zombie monster from my hand when I control no monsters.", Flynn said.

Flynn

Hand: 5

Call of the Mummy

(Continuous Spell)

Effect: Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 Zombie monster from your hand. You must control no monsters to activate and to resolve this effect.

"Zombie? Wait, he uses a zombie deck? Wasn't he riding on a dragon earlier?", Asahi questioned.

"Doomkaiser is a zombie dragon.", Flynn replied.

"So, it's a dragon and a zombie? That's rather confusing…", Asahi replied.

"Why…zombies though?", Manabu murmured, getting chills at just thinking of the undead.

"This card is a good example of what I mean. I activate its effect allowing me to special summon Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon.", Flynn said.

Flynn

Hand: 4

Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon

(ZOMBIE/ DARK/ EFFECT/ ATK 2400/ DEF 2000/ LV 7)

Effect: You can Tribute Summon this card in Attack Position by Tributing 1 Zombie monster. When this card destroys a Zombie monster by battle and sends it to the GY: You can Special Summon that Zombie monster.

"So, Flynn has big monsters in his main deck too?", Nozomi thought.

"Then, I set a monster and a card facedown.", Flynn said.

Flynn

Hand: 2

"This doesn't seem that special…I can beat this guy.", Nanashi thought as his gaze met Flynn's poker face.

"I draw.", Nanashi said.

Nanashi

Hand: 6

"I activate the effect of Vice Dragon from my hand. When my opponent controls monsters and I don't I can special summon it with its attack and defense halved.", Nanashi said.

Nanashi

Hand: 5

Vice Dragon

(DRAGON/ DARK/ EFFECT/ ATK 2000/ DEF 2400/ LV5)

Effect: If your opponent controls a monster and you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand), but its original ATK and DEF become halved.

Vice Dragon ATK 2000 / 2 = 1000

Vice Dragon DEF 2400 / 2 = 1200

"Then I will tribute it to summon Prime Material Dragon.", Nanashi said.

Nanashi

Hand: 4

Prime Material Dragon

(DRAGON/ LIGHT/ EFFECT/ ATK 2400/ DEF 2000/ LV6)

Effect: Any effect that would inflict damage to a player increases their Life Points by the same amount, instead. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that would destroy a monster(s) on the field: You can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.

"His deck is similar to mine.", Issachar thought as scratched his cheek.

"Then I will set a card.", Nanashi said.

Nanashi

Hand: 3

"I will attack your facedown monster!", Nanashi declared.

Walter had a very funny look as Flynn revealed Pyramid Turtle.

"When my Pyramid Turtle is destroyed by battle I can special summon one zombie monster from my deck with 2000 or less defense.", Flynn replied.

"So it's similar to my Masked Dragon then.", Nanashi thought.

"I choose to special summon Malevolent Mech - Goku En with my Pyramid Turtle's effect.", Flynn said.

Malevolent Mech - Goku En

(ZOMBIE/ LIGHT/ EFFECT/ ATK 2400/ DEF 1400/ LV6)

Effect: You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this card was Summoned this way: Send it to the GY, then take damage equal to its original ATK in the GY. This card must be the only Zombie monster on the field to activate and to resolve this effect.

Nanashi's eyes widened, surprised to see Flynn special summon such a high level monster from the effect.

"It's because it's based on defense points instead of attack points…That small wording difference really does make the difference.", Nanashi thought as Flynn manually shuffled his deck after searching for Goku En.

Flynn's fellows recognized the monster from when Damien used it.

"I haven't seen that card for a long while.", Jonathan commented.

"Yeah…like Ha Des it makes me think of Flynn's rigid gramps.", Walter replied.

The Tokyo residents looked a bit confused at this.

"Did his grandfather have a similar deck or something?", Nozomi questioned.

"Yeah…", Walter replied, sounding confused at the question.

"I will end my turn…", Nanashi said.

"Woah, Flynn has a mech just like me!", Asahi said, showing Ohka to Flynn.

"Yeah, but his looks much more sinister…", Nanashi murmured, surprised to see Flynn using zombies.

He had kind of expected him to use something else. Like warriors or machines or something more you know heroic. When he imagined dueling a Samurai he never expected that he would find himself facing the undead. Flynn didn't hear Nanashi's murmur currently focused on Ohka.

"That's interesting. I guess they must be an archetype. Though I have only heard of one mech card besides Goku En and Ohka.", Flynn replied.

"Archetype?", Asahi questioned.

"Like my deck. I'm sure you noticed all my cards have X-Saber in their name.", Isabeau explained.

"Ooh…I see.", Asahi replied.

"I wonder just how many other Samurai have archetypes…There's bound to be more…", Nikkari thought as he frowned.

"I draw.", Flynn said.

Flynn

Hand: 3

"I summon Spirit Reaper.", Flynn said.

Flynn

Hand: 2

"I will attack your monster with Goku En! Azure Inferno!", Flynn declared, making Nanashi sweat drop.

Asahi looked vindicated as yet another person did attack names too. Both Flynn and Nanashi were forced to send their monsters to the graveyard.

"I attack you directly with Spirit Reaper!", Flynn declared.

Nanashi LP 4000 - 300 = 3700

"You put that card in attack mode to just nick me?", Nanashi questioned.

"Spirit Reaper's effect activates, you are forced to discard a random card from your hand.", Flynn explained as Nanashi's eyes widened.

Considering Flynn couldn't see the cards his picking was random. Nanashi snicker as he was forced to send Exploder Dragon to the graveyard.

Nanashi

Hand: 2

"Is losing one card really that big of a deal?", Asahi questioned.

"It can be. There are times when one card can swing a game.", Nikkari replied.

"Then I will attack you directly with Red-Eyes! Inferno Necro Blast!", Flynn declared.

Nanashi LP 3700 - 2400 = 1300

"I end my turn.", Flynn said.

"I'm in a bad situation…I need something to beat that dragon.", Nanashi thought.

"I draw.", Nanashi said.

Nanashi

Hand: 3

"I will set a monster and end my turn.", Namashi said.

Nanashi

Hand: 2

"I draw.", Flynn said.

Flynn

Hand: 3

"I activate Zombie World. It's effect turns all monsters on the field and the graveyard into zombies.", Flynn said.

Flynn

Hand: 2

Nanashi, Asahi, and Manabu looked very confused hearing such an effect.

"How is that useful?", Asahi questioned as the prentices sweat dropped.

"You'll see…", Isabeau replied as Walter grimaced.

"I will attack your facedown card with Red-Eyes! Inferno Necro Blast!", Flynn declared.

The card destroyed was Totem Dragon.

"The effect of my Red-Eyes triggers. When he destroys a zombie monster you control I can special summon it to my side of the field. Dragonic Domination!", Flynn said as those unaware's eyes widened.

"W-What?! You can steal monsters with that!", Manabu questioned.

"I activate my trap Divine Wrath. When a monster effect is activated I can discard a card to negate its activation and destroy that monster.", Nanashi countered.

Divine Wrath

(Counter Trap)

Effect: When a monster effect is activated: Discard 1 card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that monster.

He discarded Hardened Armed Dragon.

Nanashi

Hand: 1

"Huh. That's interesting…", Flynn said as he sent Red-Eyes to the graveyard.

Nanashi breathed a sigh of relief knowing he'd be in a bad situation otherwise.

"Then, I will attack you directly with Spirit Reaper. With that your forced to discard again.", Flynn said.

Nanashi LP 1300 - 300 = 1000

He grumbled as he sent Masked Dragon to the graveyard.

Nanashi

Hand: 0

Nanashi sweated nervously as he found his hand was completely empty now.

"W-What his hand is completely empty now!". Asahi said.

"You see now, Asahi. By continuously making him discard he's severely drained Nanashi's options for a counterattack. He could have defended himself with Masked Dragon and Exploder Dragon.", Nikkari explained.

"I end my turn.", Flynn said.

"I draw.", Nanashi said.

Nanashi

Hand: 1

"Finally I really needed this card right now.", Nanashi thought.

"I activate the effect of Totem Dragon. During my standby phase I can special summon it from the graveyard if I control no monsters and all my monsters in my graveyard are dragon type.", Nanashi said as Flynn smirked and the other Samurai grimaced.

"What dragons?", Flynn questioned, confusing Nanashi.

"…Zombie World turns all monsters on the field and in the graveyard into zombies…", Nozomi said as Nanashi's eyes widened.

"Your dragons are all zombies right now. Therefore you have no dragon monsters in the graveyard and the effect doesn't activate.", Flynn said.

"You've gotta be shitting me…", Nanashi grumbled as he returned Totem Dragon to the graveyard.

Flynn was surprised to see the teen cursing.

"So, he doesn't just get to steal zombie monsters with his cards, but he also disrupts his opponent's strategy?", Manabu questioned, sounding horrified.

"Yep. That's Flynn's deck in a nutshell.", Issachar replied with a funny look, understanding Nanashi's pain.

"Not gonna lie that sounds kind of villainous.", Manabu replied with a funny look.

Outside the Sky tower…

"I was always right about that guy…he's openly betrayed Mikado now…I'm going to finally avenge Kenny and all the masters that fell because of him!", a master Samurai grumbled.

His eyes were intense glaring constantly as he walked forward. He had gone ahead of the crown Samurai. This was his own personal mission. A spirit creeped up from the shadows of the Sky tower. It appeared behind him all that was visible were glowing red eyes and a massive scythe. It's form didn't seemed to be fully material right now simply appearing a black wispy shadow.

"Do you desireeee power, foolish human?", the spirit said, making him jump.

The voice of the spirit sounded both distorted and almost serpent-like.

He instinctively raised up his gauntlet at the spirit's presence.

"I can feel your desireeee issss strong…", the spirit said.

The master sweated nervously as he felt overwhelming power radiating from the spirit. As he gazed into the spirits eyes he suddenly was bombarded with images of his comrades then when he found them soulless. The master stumbled backwards at the spirits stare.

Elsewhere…

Suddenly alarm bells rang through a building.

"Synchro spirit detected. I repeat. New synchro spirit detected.", a robotic voice said.

"W-Woah, you think it's the angels?", one of the men watching the machine said.

He suddenly clicked a button and saw there was a white dot blinking at the Sky Tower. However, there was another spirit off somewhere roaming on the screen.

"It can't be. We would have multiple signals if it was them. It must be a spirit that just arrived.", a different man said.

In Shinjuku…

Flynn looked offended at the insinuation his cards were villainous.

"Their zombies, they infect and turn other living things into zombies. That's what they do.", Flynn replied as the others sweat dropped.

"I mean that is their thing…that's what they do in every media I've seen them in.", Nikkari said.

"Ooh…that's why his deck does that. I didn't think of that. They do what zombies do, but as actual in-game effects.". Asahi replied.

"I end my turn…Yeah, I'm basically under siege by a legion of undead in-game. ", Nanashi replied.

"I draw.", Flynn said as he looked over to Nanashi.

Flynn

Hand: 3

The teen seemed annoyed, but not quite angry. Flynn found it strange he cursed in mild annoyance.

"Do all kids curse here?". Flynn asked as Nanashi raised an eyebrow.

"You say that like it's a big deal. It's just a word.", Nanashi replied.

"They are totally messians.", Manabu whispered to Nikkari.

"…I guess it's just a culture shock. I thought you were really upset for a moment.", Flynn replied as he looked down.

"What were you worried or something?", Nanashi asked and Flynn nodded.

This left Nanashi stunned.

"He hardly knows me. I don't have any real power or anything. Why is so he concerned about pissing me off?", Nanashi thought.

"I didn't want to upset you.", Flynn replied.

"Why?", Nanashi questioned.

"Do I need a reason why?", Flynn replied, which only further confused.

"You surface dudes are weird…", Nanashi replied.

"He simply tends to get bothered when someone is upset, especially if he thinks he caused it.", Isabeau replied with a chuckle.

This made Flynn lightly blush.

"Yeah.", Walter replied, remembering how concerned he was after he stormed off after their tournament duel.

"I activate Pot of Greed. Allowing me to draw two cards.", Flynn said.

Flynn

Hand: 2

Pot of Greed

(Normal Spell)

Effect: Draw 2 cards.

Flynn

Hand: 4

Isabeau took note of the difference between using it and Allure of Darkness. With Pot of Greed Flynn was left with much more cards to use than Allure of Darkness. As Nikkari mentioned, one card can indeed swing a game.

"I activate Book of Life. It allows me to resurrect one of my zombie monsters and banish yours from the graveyard. I will resurrect Pyramid Turtle and banish your Totem Dragon.", Flynn said.

Flynn

Hand: 3

Book of Life

(Normal Spell)

Effect: Target 1 Zombie monster in your GY and 1 monster in your opponent's GY; Special Summon the first target, also banish the second target.

"But all of Flynn's monsters are zombies!", Asahi said.

"That's so strong…", Nanashi said.

He was confused as to why Flynn didn't resurrect Red-Eyes.

"I summon Plaguespreader Zombie.", Flynn said as the other prentices sweat dropped.

"Hoy, isn't that a bit overkill, Flynn?", Walter questioned with a funny look.

"I tune Plaguespreader Zombie with Pyramid Turtle.", Flynn said.

"He's going to synchro summon too! I can't believe we're going to see another synchro monster in person!", Asahi cheered.

"From the dark depths of the grave arise, great dragon noble even in death! Your dreadful roar signals your enemies doom! Synchro summon! Level 6! Doomkaiser Dragon!", Flynn chanted.

"That's his monster from earlier.", Manabu said.

I activate Doomkaiser's effect when it's special summoned, allowing me to special summon a zombie monster from your graveyard. I choose Prime Material Dragon. Roar of the Living Dead!", Flynn said as Nanashi's eyes widened.

"W-What?! Again?", Nanashi questioned.

He looked intimidated seeing Flynn's bigger field than if he summoned Red-Eyes.

"Flynn…did you have to summon Doomkaiser? You've already won.", Jonathan replied, sweat dropping.

"Well he is the master of overkill.", Walter replied.

"I like Doomkaiser.", Flynn replied with a deadpan expression.

"See that is a valid reason to summon a monster.", Asahi replied as Nikkari and Manabu sweat dropped.

"Well, Doomkaiser is Flynn's favorite monster. He likes summoning it whenever he gets the opportunity to use it at its fullest.", Issachar said.

"Favorite…?", Nanashi questioned, never thinking of such a thing.

He knew Asahi obviously liked her cards, but considering the need to switch out cards to optimize a deck he hadn't considered it. It just seemed silly and childish to him. There was something about the way Flynn looked at the card. There was an indescribable bond between the two. He guesses as long as your favorite is a strong card like Doomkaiser it could be fine.

"A synchro dragon huh? Though it's technically a zombie…", Nanashi thought.

Strangely, Flynn with a synchro dragon did feel correct. But…he felt like it was the wrong synchro dragon. He imagined him having…something else as a silhouette of a dragon appeared in his mind.

"Let's see what that card you drew was. I attack you with Spirit Reaper.", Flynn said as Nanashi grimaced.

Nanashi LP 1000 - 300 = 700

Asahi gasped as Nanashi revealed Odd-Eyes Dragon. If it wasn't for Zombie World he could have summoned it last turn.

Nanashi

Hand: 0

"Then I attack you directly with Doomkaiser! Death Spectral Howling!", Flynn declared.

Nanashi LP 700 - 2400 = 0

Nanashi sighed after his loss, leaning on his hands. He picked up his deck looking at it. His gaze seemed thoughtful.

"I get you like your dragon, but did you really have to annihilate the kid like that?", Walter questioned.

"No, it's fine. I feel like I have learned something from dueling Flynn…I have never dueled against a deck like his before.", Nanashi replied.

Nanashi bit his lip, feeling slightly embarrassed.

"So…thanks.", Nanashi said to Flynn.

Flynn smiled, feeling happy that he ended up helping Nanashi unknowingly.

"I'm glad.", Flynn replied, happily.

"Does he have to smile so brightly like that? Stupid idiot…he doesn't even know me.", Nanashi thought.

Nanashi imagined Ryou with the same smile overlapping with Flynn for some reason. He lowered his head as the image made him feel weirder.

Outside the Sky tower…

"You cannot hide it from meee…your feelingssss summoned me hereeee. You want…justiceeee.", the spirit said as it leaned over him casting a massive shadow over him.

The master Samurai trembled, shaking violently.

"Y-yes! That's what I want!", the master Samurai replied as a sinister grin stretched on the spirit's face.

"Yesss…you want my power, human?", the spirit asked.

"Yes!", the master Samurai replied.

"Thennn give me your body…!", the spirit said, before the master panicked.

"W-Wait n-n-", the master Samurai said, before the spirit slithered down his throat.

The master Samurai screamed as he struggled and begged. Tears rolled down his face as he struggled violently. His body started to swell and grow in size. His eyes glowed a fierce red. His face dissolved to reveal a skeletal armored head. Shadows swirled around him creating armor. It created a black chestplate with a rib cage design. As well as two black shoulder pads lined with gold and black leg and crotch guards lined with gold. Also black gauntlets with silver skeletal parts on it and black greaves with gold designs on them. Along with white puffy pants. He gained a blue cape which had a collar and materialized a black scythe with its handle lined with cloth.

"Ahh…now, time to find the target.", the spirit said.

There was a low angry rumbling as the spirit materialized. Ghostly wisps suddenly floated through the air.

"Heheeee. It seemssss Doomking is angry another spirit is trying to claim hissss chosen vessel. Unfortunately your generalssss will be too late, old man.", the spirit replied.

To be continued…
