Hermione, Ginny, and Daphne laid out beside Daphne's pool in her backyard, enjoying the summer sun. "Ginny," Miss Greengrass called. "Do not forget to reapply your sunblock!"
"Thank you Miss Greengrass!" Ginny called back, grabbing her sunscreen.
"Oh, seriously girls. You have been friends with my daughter for years now and come over fairly often. You can call me Elizabeth, and my husband Richard."
"Thank you Elizabeth." Ginny said.
"Let me know if you need anything." Elizabeth went back into the house.
"This is a fantastic way to spend the day." Hermione said, Ginny and Daphne hummed in agreement. "Where is Pansy?"
"Her parents are having a dinner party, so she is at home preparing to play hostess." Daphne replied.
"Are you going?" Ginny asked, Daphne scoffed.
"Our friends are not pleased that we have 'taken in a mudblood', their words I promise." Hermione just sighed
"As long as they don't act out and they just stick to their petty insults I don't really care." Hermione groaned as the warmth from the sun disappeared. "Did the sun disappear behind a cloud?" She opened her eyes and laughed.
"I hope you are calling me a cloud because I am fun to look at." Draco smirked.
"I didn't know you were coming." Hermione said, sitting up and giving him a kiss.
"And miss a chance to see you in a bikini? I may not know a lot about muggles but their clothes make you look hotter than ever." Hermione laughed as she got up.
"I'll talk to you two in a little while." She said, following Draco back into the house.
"Have fun!" Ginny and Daphne called.
They entered Hermione's designated room in the Greengrass house, Draco kissing her neck as she closed and locked the door. "I have missed you." Draco whispered against her neck.
"You saw me last week." Hermione said, turning around so she could kiss him. Draco smirked against her lips as he pressed her against the door, wrapping her tanned legs around his waist.
"Yes, but that was in the presence of my parents. I have missed this." Hermione just chuckled.
"I could torture you come more when we are with the Malfoys and Greengrasses." Draco groaned as he carried her and sitting on her bed, Hermione on his lap.
"Or, you could let me enjoy this. Before I return home and listen to my parents trying to marry me to Pansy." Draco kissed down her neck, pausing and breathing on her sensitive spots. Hermione squirmed as Draco kissed her collar bone then back up to her ear. "Stop squirming," Draco whispered in her ear. "We said nothing until next year, keep moving like that and I will not be able to stop myself."
"Then stop doing what makes me squirm." Hermione countered before capturing his lips with hers. Draco squeezed her butt as she buried her hands in his hair. After a while Hermione took a deep breath. "We should stop." She said moving her hands from Draco's hair to his chest. Draco groaned as he fell back onto the bed, taking deep breaths. "Do I need to move?" Hermione asked, running her hands down his torso, feeling his quidditch muscles under his shirt.
"I have not decided yet." Draco said, moving his hands down her legs to her thighs, drawing lazy circles with his fingers. Hermione leaned forward and placed her head on his chest.
"How long do you have?" She asked.
"Not long, Theo can only cover for me for so long." Draco sighed. Hermione sat up, a confused look on her face. "What?"
"You said your parents are trying to marry you to Pansy. Don't they know she's dating Daphne?"
"No," Draco laughed. "They think they are just really good friends." Hermione laughed. "Now, come lay down with me and tell me about your week." Hermione happily compiled, telling him about her shopping trip with Daphne and her family's trip to France.
Hermione smiled at Daphne as a school owl appeared with their Hogwarts letters. "I wonder who made Prefect." Hermione commented, opening her letter and reading through the school supply list.
"I bet you did." Daphne said. "You are top of our class." She smirked as the Prefect badge fell out of Hermione's letter. "Told you." Hermione squealed. Elizabeth and Richard walked into the room.
"Oh, Hogwarts letters!" Elizabeth said, picking up the letter. "I remember being Prefect." Her eyes fell on the badge in Hermione's hand. "You made Prefect Hermione?"
"Yes ma'am." Hermione said. "I have to go write to my parents."
"Tell them to come over this evening, I will treat you to a congratulatory dinner." Elizabeth smiled at her.
"Are you sure?" Hermione asked. "You don't have to."
"Honey, you spend so much time here, why would I not? You have become as much a daughter to me as Daphne and Astoria, speaking off." Elizabeth picked up Astoria's letter and together with Richard, who congratulated Hermione, went in search of their youngest daughter.
"I have to tell Draco." Hermione said, eyebrows furrowed. "But how?" Just then they heard the fireplace in the drawing room come to life.
"Guess that answers your question." Daphne smirked as they walked into the drawing room. "Ginny?" Daphne asked, seeing the redheaded girl dusting off the ashes.
"I had to warn Hermione." Ginny gasped.
"Why what happened?" Hermione asked as the fireplace lit up again and Draco stepped out.
"I have great news." Draco said, pausing at the look on the girls' faces. "What is wrong?"
"Ron has been made Prefect." Ginny said.
"I am going to kill him." Draco said as Pansy stepped out of the fireplace.
"What did I miss?" She asked, looking around.
The six teens sat on the Greengrass' patio furniture. Hermione pacing, Draco and Ginny sitting on opposite ends of the couch, and Daphne on Pansy's lap. "Did I mention how happy I am that you are here?" Daphne asked her girlfriend.
"No, but you can show me later." Pansy informed the blond, her eyes on Hermione. "You good Hermione?"
"No." Hermione said. "What am I going to do? I have been able to avoid him since last summer, but this."
"Come sit." Draco said, holding out his hand. Hermione bit her lip as she took his hand and let him pull him into his lap. "It'll be okay. We can figure this out."
"Can we?" Hermione asked. "I will have to spend time with him now. Especially if we get put on rounds together."
"If one of the Hufflepuffs or Ravenclaws become Head Boy or Girl then usually they try to force Inter - House Unity." Daphne reminded them. "There is a good chance you will be paired up with one of the other houses." Hermione sighed as she laid her head on Draco's shoulder, he started rubbing her back and whispering sweet words to her.
"You know." Pansy said. "We can probably just talk to the Head Boy and Girl." They looked at her. "I mean, if you get to them before Weasley you can probably ask to stay paired with your friends or someone from another house to increase Inter - House Unity."
"Either way," Draco said. "I will not leave you alone with him."
"Thank you." Hermione said, kissing him. "I'm just happy you and Pansy are also Prefects."
"I always had a thing for powerful people." Daphne said, kissing Pansy's check causing the group to laugh.
"I need to get back, I stayed here longer than I meant to." Draco sighed.
"I wish you could just tell your parents you came to tell your girlfriend you made Prefect." Hermoine sighed.
"I do too, but we are going out to celebrate so I need to keep them happy." Daphne smirked, causing Draco and Hermione to raise an eyebrow.
"What?" Hermione asked.
"Where are your parents taking you?" Daphne asked. Draco told her. "Perfect, Pansy, is there any way you can convince your parents to take you there tonight?"
"Probably, why?" Pansy asked.
"Just trust me." Daphne chuckled as everyone looked at her in confusion.
The Grangers followed the Greengrasses through the entrance of a wizarding restaurant. "Wow." Daniel said as a house elf took his coat and disappeared.
"Good wow right dad?" Hermione asked, flattening her emerald green mini slip dress.
"Of course, where are we going?" Daniel asked Richard who came back from the hostess podium.
"It says the back room has been reserved for all fifth year Prefects and family." Richard said. "I wonder who did that."
"Maybe the Malfoys." Daphne suggested. "You know how they like to show off, come on let's go find out." The group made their way to the back room where a table with eight name plates sat in the middle, and groups of tables surrounding it, each with a family name. "Hermione!" Daphne said, looking at the nameplates. "You are to sit here, between Draco and Ernie Macmillian." Hermione walked over to Daphne and looked around the table, smirking when she noticed Ron was beside Pansy. "You did this." Hermione whispered to her friend who shrugged.
"Grangers." Lucius said. "I am surprised you are here."
"My daughter made Prefect Malfoy." Daniel said. "Why would we not be here?" Lucius and Narcissa just looked around and held back groans when they saw they were sitting with the Grangers and Greengrasses. "How wonderful," Richard said, holding his chair out for Elizabeth. "We can tell you how much we enjoy Hermione being here."
"Why are you here Greengrass?" Lucius asked, helping Narcissa into her own seat. "Daphne was not made Prefect."
"No, but Hermione is like a daughter to us." Elizabeth said. "She spends so much time at our house. You would really like her if you got to know her, we know Draco does." Draco, who was sitting at the Prefects table, coughed on his drink. Hermione hid her smile behind her menu, secretly placing her hand on his leg. Ron glared at the two from his seat, listening as the adults talked about how proud they were of their children. "Something wrong Weasley?" Pansy asked, taking a sip of her water.
"Mind your business Parkinson." Ron said, almost breaking his glass as Hermione laughed at something Draco said. Pansy and Daphne shared a smirk and a wink.
Hermione and Daphne boarded the Hogwarts Express, stopping at the compartment Blaise, Ginny, Theo, and Neville were sitting in. "I have to go to the Prefects compartment." Hermione told them. "But Draco, Pansy, and I should be back to tell you how it went and to catch up."
"Let us know if Ron does anything stupid." Neville said.
"Of course." Pansy said, appearing beside Hermione. "You really think we would let anything go by our notice?" With that the three Prefects walked to the Prefects compartment and sighed, noticing that everyone was sitting based on house. Hermione looked at her friends as she went and sat beside, but as far as she could, to Ron. "Did you have a good summer?" Ron asked.
"I did." Hermione said, not looking at him.
"You and Malfoy looked pretty cozy." Ron said.
"We are friends." Hermione reminded him. She looked over at Draco and Pansy who were keeping their eyes trained on them. Finally the Head Boy and Girl started the meeting; Hermione, Draco, and Pansy all gave a sigh of relief when they explained that the rounds would be done by members of different houses. After the meeting Draco, Hermione, and Pansy walked to their friends compartment. Pansy moving to sit with Daphne on her lap and Hermione sitting on Draco's. "How did it go?" Ginny asked.
"We are to do rounds with members of different houses," Hermione said. "We will know who and when each week. I am to round the train with Draco." Everyone gave a sigh of relief.
"Thank Merlin." Theo said. "I did not want to get into a fight the first day back."
"You know I love you guys." Hermione said, smiling at her mixture of friends.
"We love you too." Daphne replied, smiling at her best friend.
After making sure the first year Gryffindor girls were comfortable and knew where their dorms and restrooms were Hermione made her way to the entrance hall to patrol with Pansy. "Do you want to go together or split up?" Hermione asked once Pansy joined her.
"Go together, I barely got to see you this summer." Pansy said as they made their way up to the seventh floor.
"Well, usually when you came to the Greengrasses you and Daphne would disappear, which is fine. I know Draco and I did the same thing." Pansy just shrugged. "So, as you are both my friends, do I need to threaten you if you hurt her or do I threaten her if she hurts you?"
"I could ask you the same thing." Pansy laughed. "Has Draco told you his parents are trying to get us to get married. Thankfully my parents are against it."
"Yes, why are they doing that?" Hermione asked.
"Because they are purebloods and want him to be with a pureblood, preferably a member of the Sacred Twenty - Eight. I am one of the more…preferable options."
"That makes it sound like you are a prized pig or something." Hermione scrunched up her nose.
"Hey, they might be your in - laws one day." Pansy pointed out. Hermione had no response to that. For the rest of the patrol they talked about their summers and what they wanted to do with their significant others now that they were back in school.
