The theme for this chapter is Yang's birthday, because it's Yang's birthday. Though it might not be by the time I post this.

Jaune was going to make this day perfect or die trying. He had been planning this for weeks, and he was not going to screw this up. It would be Yang's first birthday since they started dating, so Jaune took this as a test to prove how great of a boyfriend he was despite the fact that his girlfriend was very much out of his league. Jaune somehow, someway, was able to convince Junior to let him rent a large private room at The Club for Yang's party. He knew that despite trashing the place and some issues with the staff that it was Yang's favorite place to hang out, have fun, and party.

That was later tonight though, for now Jaune needed to keep her busy for the rest of the majority of the day before that happened. Luckily for him he knew she was having a smaller get together with her family for lunch so there wasn't much pressure there. It wasn't too big of a deal since he's known her father and uncle for a while now already, and it would be nice to have something more private before the craziness that would be the actual party tonight. After that though he didn't really have anything planned in between then and the party. Maybe they could just wander around Vale or something, perhaps go to the arcade. That was always fun, and if he was lucky he might be able to win her some sort of stuffed animal or something. As long as he didn't spend all their points on beating her at DDR that is. After making a few calls to make sure everything was good for tonight Jaune decided to get himself ready to meet Yang and her family for lunch.

The lunch itself was rather enjoyable. They met at Yang's favorite diner that she loved going to since she was a kid. The food was amazing, though it did leave Jaune feeling rather bloated and in desperate need of a nice nap. Ruby was legitimately hunched over, trying in vain to prevent herself from face planting onto the table. Yang was the only one that didn't seem phased at all, as energized and radiant as ever. Which was amazing considering she probably ate more than the rest of them combined. Jaune thought Ruby was supposed to be the one with the hyperactive metabolism, so he had no idea how his girlfriend wasn't currently in a deep food coma.

It was also nice seeing Tai and Qrow again, even if he did have to deal with a few half joking threats concerning the horrible things they would do to him if he ever dared to hurt Yang. Yang admonished them, but Jaune just brushed it off knowing that's just how they were and it was simply them showing how much they cared for her. Before they left Tai and Qrow gave Yang their gifts for her. A t-shirt with art of a piece of chibi-butter on it with the words "I'm Butter than you" above it from Tai, and a gift card from Qrow. After that they gave their goodbyes, Yang giving them both back breaking hugs as they departed. Ruby told them that she'd see them later tonight at the party, and then dashed off with a quick hug with Yang apparently recovered from her food induced stupor. Yang turned to him and asked what party Ruby was talking about, and Jaune simply responded that she'll just have to wait and find out later.

After that they did end up at the arcade. Yang lamented that she couldn't eat any greasy arcade pizza because of how full she was, but was ready to have fun. Jaune got them both cards to play the games with, full of credits that would last them hours. They spent hours playing just about any game they could get their hands on. Yang destroyed him in just about any shooting or racing game they played, while the fighting games were much more even with Jaune getting just a bit more wins than losses there. Yang reluctantly agreed to play some DDR with him even though she knew he would absolutely obliterate her, and obliterate her he did. He couldn't help it, he couldn't hold himself back. At a certain point it was simply instinct to him, and eventually Yang just stepped off and watched him go. Yang found him absolutely mesmerizing like this. Something about the look of concentration on his face, and the astoundingly perfect footwork you'd never usually expect from Jaune usually just made her heart flutter in admiration.

Unfortunately all of this didn't leave them with many credits to spend on games that actually awarded tickets for prizes. Jaune decided then that he'd have better luck getting her something at one of the crane games. He looked around and eventually spotted the perfect prize. It was a cute yellow bear with a stubby flaming tail from the Spheremon series, and luckily for him it was in prime claw grabbing range. However these games were always harder than they seemed, even when the prize seemed within reach. The damned plush mocked him every time it slipped from the claw's grasp as it was carried to the hole it was meant to drop into. Jaune was determined though, he had fought Ursa before, some stupid yellow fluff bear wasn't going to best him damnit. Sweat poured from his brow as he used the last of his cards credits and moved the claw towards the bear. The claw went down and grasped the bear's soft body with its metal pincers. It moved the bear towards the hole, and for a moment it seemed it was slipping from the claw on the way there once again. Luckily as it fell it hit the rim of the bin and fell into the hole giving Jaune his prize. Jaune grabbed it and triumphantly presented it to Yang. Yang smiled and hugged it close, before giving him a firm kiss on the lips and proclaiming Jaune as her hero.

After that Jaune took her back to the dorms so they could get changed. Yang came out of the RWBY dorm wearing this cream and black get up that Jaune thought looked absolutely amazing on her. When they got to The Club Yang instantly perked up. She looked at Jaune excitedly and he nodded. When they went inside Junior himself greeted them before taking them to their private room. When they opened the doors they saw all their friends from Beacon and in unison they yelled out Happy Birthday. Yang actually squealed in joy, before turning to Jaune and hugging him, repeatedly telling him thank you. Jaune just told her that she deserved nothing but the best before politely suggesting that she stop crushing his bones and go enjoy the party. After that Yang dashed off.

Yang was having a blast, dancing with her friends, enjoying some of the best strawberry sunshines in all of Remnant, and being surrounded by her favorite people on the planet. Although at some point Jaune seemed to have disappeared and Yang wondered where he was. As Yang was looking around the room for him a gigantic cake was rolled into the room and right in front of her. Sparkling candles were lit as everyone in the room started singing happy birthday to her. The song ending Yang went to blow out the candles, but before she could the top of the cake burst open and Jaune popped out his face covered in frosting and shirtless with only a bright yellow ribbon covering his chest. Yang yelped in surprise as he suddenly hugged her, and her startled shriek turned into laughter as she swiped some frosting off of him before sticking it in his mouth telling him she couldn't wait to unwrap him when she got home. Jaune blushed with a smirk on his face before pulling her into a deep kiss. Eventually they pulled away from each other and Jaune continued to hold her close.

"Happy Birthday Yang."
