Minato was always hailed as one of the strongest Shinobi to ever grace the Leaf Village. Despite this fact, Minato was not perfect. There was one thing Minato had no affinity for. Minato could not perform Doujutsu. Minato's mother was an Uchiha but Minato never activated his Sharingan. Minato went with his father's clan name rather than his mother's so most people had no idea he was an Uchiha.
After the Nine tails attack, Hiruzen decided that he wanted Naruto to live in the Uchiha compound so Naruto could at least have some small form of family connection. He told the public that Naruto was an Uchiha so the other Uchiha could teach him to suppress his Kyubi Chakra and they could also suppress it if Naruto himself was unable to.
Even within the Uchiha, there was only one who actively expressed interest in him and helped him. This was a teenage boy with short unkempt black hair who worked in the Anbu which was unusual for Uchiha. The boy was none other than Shisui Uchiha. Shisui would often help Naruto train and keep any bullies away from him. The two considered each other brothers even though in reality that wasn't the case.
Naruto was about six years old punching a wooden dummy in a training grounds area on a cold winter day. He was wearing a black coat that had an Uchiha symbol on his black pants and a red scarf tied around his neck. There was a big red target on the chest of the wooden dummy and Naruto was smashing his fists into it repeatedly. As he did this Shisui approached him with a black box that had an Uchiha clan crest on it. The moment Shisui walked over Naruto's face would light up with joy and form a big goofy smile.
"Hi, Shisui!-What's that?" Naruto asked as his greeting was interrupted by his curiosity about the box Shisui held. Shisui chuckled at the sight of Naruto being excited and curious.
"Well, I figured you could use something to train with so I got you something," Shisui told him and Naruto began to jump in place with excitement.
"Wow, really what is it?!" Naruto exclaimed with joy. Shisui then opened the box and pulled out a weapon from it.
"This is a kusarigama. Kusarigama is a traditional weapon that consists of a kama on a kusari-fundo – a type of metal chain with a heavy iron weighted spike at the end of it. It can be used effectively with training and you could even learn to extend or shorten the chain with your Chakra" Shisui explained as he handed Naruto the weapon.
"Wow!" Naruto exclaimed as he held onto the black chain and began to wildly swing it around.
"Careful there, Don't wanna hurt yourself kid," Shisui said with a smile as he backed up a bit.
"I'm gonna practice with it every day until I get super good at it, then I'm going to become Hokage!" Naruto declared to Shisui.
"I'm sure you will Naruto." Shisui said as he put his hand on Naruto's head and ruffled his hair before walking off. Later that night Naruto was walking to Ichiraku ramen when he saw a black-haired girl that looked around his age surrounded by a bunch of ten-year-old boys.
"You think you're better than us pale eyes?!" One of the boys yelled at her.
"No I- I don't think anything like that." Hinata quietly attempted to defend herself.
"Hey get away from her!" Naruto shouted.
"Leave while you still can freak!" One of the boys shouted back at Naruto.
Naruto pulled out his kusarigama and swung it horizontally as it became covered in Naruto's yellow Chakra and it extended outwards wildly. As the kusarigama shot out toward the upper half of one of the boy's bodies, the boy caught the kusarigama immediately before it harmed him.
"How dare you try to hurt me you freak!" The boy shouted as he grabbed onto the chain of the kusarigama and roughly pulled it forward causing Naruto to be sent flying over to him. The boy then kneed Naruto resulting in him spitting out blood and falling to the floor. The three boys began to kick Naruto and rip up his clothes. Shisui suddenly body flickered in front of the three boys with his glowing red eyes coldly staring down at them.
"leave." He told them and they all quickly obliged at the moment they saw his deadly eyes. Shisui's eyes then turned to normal as he looked down at Naruto.
"Let me help you up." Shisui said as he held out his hand which Naruto took Shisui pulled him up and Naruto's red scarf fell off his neck.
"I'm sorry I was so damn weak." Naruto told him with a disappointed frown on his face.
"Nothing about that was weak, You fought a battle when the odds were against you just to stand up for someone you hardly know. That's not weakness Naruto that is strength." Shisui told Naruto.
"Yeah, I guess your right." Naruto said as his frown quickly turned into a smile. As the two began to walk away Hinata rushed over to Naruto. "Your um scarf fell." Hinata uttered to Naruto as she attempted to hand it to him.
"Keep it." Naruto responded without thinking about it anymore. "Oh um okay sure." Hinata responded shyly which resulted into a chuckle from Shisui as he walked off back to the Uchiha compound with Naruto.
