One year has passed since Shisui gave Naruto a lkusarigama and Naruto tried to use it to protect Hinata. Naruto was now one year into his time at the academy. After a long boring day at the academy, Naruto headed down to a training grounds area in the Uchiha compound. Naruto began to set up a bunch of targets before pulling out his kusarigama. Yellow chakra surged throughout his weapon as he began to pierce each target straight in the middle of the bullseye.
Shisui appeared in a flash behind Naruto as he placed his hand on Naruto's head and ruffled his hair. "I can see you have been working hard with the kusarigama huh?" Shisui said with a smile as he looked down at Naruto.
"Yeah, I have to train a lot if I wanna be Hokage." Naruto responded as he continued to pierce each target with striking accuracy.
"I have someone I would like you to meet." Shisui told Naruto.
"Really? Who?" Naruto asked with a puzzled expression on his face as Shisui has never introduced him to anyone before.
"You will see in a moment, just follow me," Shisui told him before he began to walk off and Naruto hurriedly followed after him as he stuffed his kusarigama in his pocket.
Shisui and Naruto walked throughout the Uchiha compound before reaching the Uchiha Clan Leader's house. In front of it stood two Uchiha boys just like Shisui and Naruto. One of the boys looked older than Shisui's age. His hair was slightly longer than the other three and he was dressed in Anbu attire just like Shisui. The other boy looked to be the same age as Naruto. The boy seemed familiar to Naruto but it took him a couple of seconds to figure out how.
"Oh, I think he's in my class." Naruto said as he and Shisui reached the other two. Naruto stood behind Shisui as the other older boy began to speak.
"Naruto I am Itachi and this is my little brother Sasuke, The two of you will be training together from now on." Itachi explained to Naruto as Shisui lightly pushed Naruto in front of himself. Sasuke then saw the weapon in Naruto's pocket and he walks over to him.
"Wow, what's that?" Sasuke asked Naruto as he looked at his pocket.
"Oh this is a kusarigama, it's a weapon Shisui gave me." Naruto said as he scratched the back of his head and smiled.
"Here look at what I got." Sasuke said as he pulled out three shurikens before continuing to speak.
"Itachi has been teaching me Shuriken Jutsu." Sasuke told Naruto proudly.
"We should go train together." Naruto suggested to Sasuke.
"Sure!" Sasuke responded and the two of them headed out towards the forest. Once Naruto and Sasuke reached a forestry area they would begin setting up targets all around them. Once the two of them were ready Sasuke would pull out six kunai. He would put three in each hand before flowing his purple chakra into them. He then shot out all six shurikens causing each one to perfectly hit all six of the targets in the bullseye. Naruto then charged his yellow chakra into his kusarigama as he swung it and the chain began to expand. As he swung it horizontally across the blade would perfectly pluck out each of the shurikens.
"Wow, you're good at that!" Sasuke exclaimed with shock.
"We both are, We are going to be the best weapon users in the village!" Naruto declared. A couple of days later Naruto and Sasuke were sitting in class together when Iruka sensei began to speak.
"Okay class everyone follows me out to the yard so we can do some taijutsu demonstration." Iruka instructed the students and they all obliged. Taijutsu was one of the only times where everyone could finally get the chance to fight so everyone was a bit excited. Once they all got outside Iruka looked down at all the students.
"We need two volunteers to have a taijutsu battle and show us how it's done." Iruka told all the students. Sasuke and Naruto made eye contact with each other before nodding and then lifting their right hands to volunteer.
"Very well." Iruka said as Naruto and Sasuke bowed to each other while all the other students circled them.
"Go Sasuke!" Some cheered.
"Go Naruto." Others cheered. The popularity of Naruto and Sasuke was pretty evenly split. Naruto was also an Uchiha so even though many parents told their kids to stay away from him, his skills and popular heritage made him well-liked among people his age.
Naruto charged toward Sasuke as he shot his fist out towards Sasuke's face but Sasuke simply shifted his body and avoided the blow. Naruto shifted his body with Sasuke and sent another punch at Sasuke only for him to leap out of the way. Naruto leaped with Sasuke and Sasuke attempted to punch Naruto in the chest. Naruto grabbed Sasuke's arm before his fist connected then he pulled him closer as he began to release a series of punches into Sasuke's chest. Sasuke then firmly planted his foot into Naruto's chest before kicking him away and forcing him to let go. Sasuke lept into the air and shot his leg down towards Naruto's shoulder. Naruto quickly grabbed Sasuke's leg and slammed him onto the ground before pinning him.
"It seems Naruto is the winner." Iruka announced and all the kids clapped.
"I guess I'm the winner of our first fight." Naruto said as the two of them laughed and Naruto got off of Sasuke. Iruka would continue to get different volunteers to show off their taijutsu and eventually the day at the academy concluded. As Naruto and Sasuke walked Sasuke would turn toward Naruto.
"Hey, do you want to train for a couple of hours?" Sasuke suggested to Naruto.
"Sure but we need to stop at my house so we can get training equipment." Naruto told Sasuke and he nodded.
Naruto and Sasuke soon arrived at Naruto's house in the compound and the two of them walked inside. The two walked into the kitchen where they saw a note pinned to the wall with a kunai and a scroll on the kitchen table.
"What's it say?" Sasuke asked as he pointed to the note. Tears began to stream down Naruto's face as he read the note and handed it to Sasuke. The note said "Hello Naruto it's Shisui, At the time you read this I will already be gone. I don't have the time to explain why but you should know I will be watching over you even in my death. I have left you a summoning scroll for crows to aid you and Sasuke just as they aid me and Itachi."
"So what now?" Sasuke asked as tears began to streak down his face as well.
"We use this." Naruto responded as he grabbed the summoning scroll and opened it up.
"We will use these crows just like Shisui did and your brother does." Naruto told Sasuke and he nodded. The two of them bite their thumbs and signed the contract with their blood before practicing with the crows all night long. A couple of months later Naruto and Sasuke were coming back from a long day of school at the Academy followed by a longer training session when they entered the Uchiha compound. It was a cold night and no one seemed to be outside.
"Do you want to ask my parents if you can stay the night at our house?"
Sasuke suggested to Naruto. "Sure, I don't see why not." Naruto responded and the two of them made their way toward Sasuke's house. When they entered they saw Fugaku and Mikoto on the ground covered in blood with Itachi standing over them.
"What's going on-" Naruto was cut off by Itachi dashing towards Naruto and slicing his chest open with his katana. As Naruto fell Itachi grabbed Naruto by the neck and threw him against the wall causing it to crack as Naruto fell to the ground motionless.
"Itachi why are you doing this?!" Sasuke shouted frantically as he fell back from pure fear alone. Sasuke looked into Itachi's eyes and Itachi put him through a genjutsu of Itachi killing his parents over and over again.
"You don't need to worry about why, All you need to worry about is how you're far too weak to do anything about it. Your hatred isn't enough right now, You are weak Sasuke." Itachi told him as Naruto's body began to become covered in red chakra as it began to heal his body.
"Nine tails brat." Itachi muttered before disappearing in the blink of an eye.
Naruto later woke up in a hospital bed with Sasuke standing next to him.
"W-What happened?" Naruto managed to mutter out.
"Itachi murdered our entire clan but I also found something out." Sasuke told Naruto.
"What is it?" Naruto asked.
"Earlier when Itachi sliced you up and smashed you into a wall, you're body healed itself with red chakra then Itachi called you a nine tails brat. I'm not supposed to tell you this but I will anyway, the nine tails was sealed into you and it is the reason why the older people of the village hate you."
Sasuke explained to Naruto. Naruto seemed shocked but only for a moment.
"Then I will use the nine tails power to grow stronger and the two of us will find and defeat Itachi for what he did." Naruto declared to Sasuke and he nodded.
