1730hrs
It was a cloudy evening at the Shinonome household.
The two inhabitants sat at the porch, investing themselves into a little playtime while waiting patiently for a certain teenage android girl to return with ingredients to make dinner. The inhabitants in question was the child Shinonome Hasake, who was dangling a fake feather in front of the family black feline ol' Sakamoto, who enjoyed playing with it. The android girl was Nano, who went out half an hour ago for grocery shopping.
"Hoo! This is fun!" Said the cheerful and playful Sakamoto as he pawed at the dangling fluffy toy.
Hakase just sat quietly and let the toy feather idly dangle from her palm as she observed the skies. The atmosphere was turning gloomy at every second, and at every second made Hakase start worrying about her guardian/sibling-ish android girl Nano. She hoped that Nano would make it back on time before the rain would start to fall.
"Sakamoto-san?"
The feline snapped back from his playful so stance and looked up to the owner of the voice. "Ah yes, Hakase?" Sakamoto responded as he took notice of the soft tone of the eight year old girl. "What's wrong?"
"It looks like it's going to rain," Hakase replied.
Sakamoto scurried over to sit beside Hakase and took a good view of the skies. "Ah, here's nothing to worry about, kid," he reassured. "Nano will be back. Besides, didn't the weather forecast stated that today is light rai-"
"Your favourite building in the horizon just disappeared."
"EH?" Sakamoto looked at the spot where Hakase described. He saw a very misty block slowy engulfing the buildings in it and it was slowly heading towards the Shinonome household. The feline froze and slowly move his muzzle at the skies, only to find the rain clouds moving past the roof rapidly. "Oh, dear..." Sakamoto shuddered.
"What is it, Sakamoto-san?"
"Look, look!" Said the feline as he pointed the sky with his shivering paw. "It's monsoon!"
"What!?" Hakase exclaimed after confirming the surroundings.
"This is bad!" Sakamoto cried. "During my time before you kids adopted me, I had to hide inside an underground gutter during one of the last monsoons."
"Doesn't that get you freezing wet, Sakamoto-san?"
"I didn't care! I was so desperate to not get blown off the streets!"
The duo snapped their sights to the sound of rattling metal not before a gust of strong cold wind blew against their faces. The lines of the drying rack started shaking violently and Hakase's pyjamas was slipping off the grips of the pegs.
"My PJs!" Hakase screamed and she dashed down from the porch, jumped towards it and fortunately caught it before it started to fly away with the wind. Hakase wouldn't celebrate yet because they were more clothes left on the rack.
"Kid! Nano's PJs!" The feline screamed hysterically.
Hakase quickly placed her PJs between her armpits to hold on and scurried to the clothes rack to jump up and get Nano's PJs off the pegs before the wind does it. However, Hakase lacked in height no matter how hard she tried jumping and Nano's PJs were blown off the rack.
"NO!" Hakase and Sakamoto screamed as they watched Nanos
's PJs started flying away in slow motion.
A figure extended a hand out and caught the PJs.
"Hahaha! SAFE!" Aioi Yuuko celebrated punched the air with victory.
"Wow!" Hakase and Sakamoto gasped in awe and ran towards their friend and gave her a hug.
"Aioi-chan! Thank you, Aioi-chan!" Hakase cried happily as she buried her face into the teenage girl's green jacket. "If it weren't for you, Nano-chan won't have anything comfortable to wear for her sleep. You're such a life saver!"
Yuuko blushed and let out a goofy chuckle from the praises she was getting. "It's nothing, Hakase," the taller girl said as she scratched the back of her head.
"Oi, Aioi."
Yuuko looked down to the black feline who was embracing her leg like a child.
"Can you be a dear and stay with us a little while? Nano went out to the supermarket."
Hakase gasped in excitement and started jumping around Yuuko. "Yes yes, Yuuko! Stay!" Said Hakase as she tugged on Yuuko's hand.
"Ah, Nano-chan is still running errands after school, I see. I happen to come over to ask Nano-chan to help me with my homework so I won't have anything to do during the summer break."
Hakase and Sakamoto's eyes lit up with joy. "Yay!"
The happy chatter was cut short when the trio flinched at the sound of a heavy rumble from the clouds. The cold wind blew steadily for now ever since Yuuko arrived at the Shinonome household.
Yuuko let out a little huff and made her way to the clothes rack. "Why don't you guys go in the house first, I can bring in the rest of the clothes," she beamed with hospitality.
"Oh Yuuko-chan, you are hopeless," said Hakase as her eyes comically turned beady again.
"Eh?"
"I'll go get a basket for you!" Hakase ran inside the house with giggles trailing behind her.
Yuuko and Sakamoto looked at each other. The teenage girl shrugged her shoulders and motion her head towards Hakase as if to ask what was that all about.
Sakamoto caught up on it and replied with a chuckle, "Ah, she does that all the time ever since the 'mature' incident, Aioi. For the moment there I thought she was going to uproot the entire rack," the feline said the last line with full of fear and dread.
"Ah," said Yuuko, as if It wasn't a big deal.
After all, crazy chaotic things happened in everyone's so-called ordinary life.
