CHAPTER 2
5 years passed and it was 1983, Aquila was now 5 and she had a younger brother, Draco, who was 3. They were in Diagon Alley with their mother when the dark haired 5 year old spotted someone out of the corner of her eye. "Minnie!" She called and broke free from her mother and ran to the older witch that was standing outside Flourish & Blotts. "Aquila Druella!" Narcissa called trying to catch up with her daughter through the crowd.
Minerva looked up when she heard her nickname from when she was in school, her eyes landing on Narcissa Malfoy when she heard the name that came from her mouth. Suddenly a small pair of arms were wrapped around her waist causing her to glance down at the girl, her breath caught as she froze.
Narcissa finally reached the pair and grabbed her daughters arm, pulling her off of Minerva. "I apologise, Professor McGonagall. I don't know what has gotten into my daughter." The blonde spoke firmly her gaze was now on her daughter as she finished her sentence.
The older witch cleared her throat and gave a quick nod. "It's quite alright, Mrs Malfoy. But I do need to be heading back to Hogwarts now." And with that Minerva was gone leaving the blonde to deal with her child.
Minerva rushed to the hospital wing and into Poppy's office in a panic. "Minerva, what happened?" The mediwitch quickly stood up and made her way over to her friend.
"I saw her, Pops. I saw Aquila." She tried to breathe and figure out what happened at Diagon Alley. "Her mother is Narcissa Malfoy." She added turning to her friend.
Poppy nodded and sat Minerva down on the sofa and offered her a glass of scotch. "We knew this day would come, Min. She will have to grow up all over again." She told her friend as she wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
Meanwhile at Malfoy Manor, Narcissa had put Draco down for a nap and was sitting on her bed with her daughter. She knew Aquila had knowledge of things she shouldn't, her first word was Min, instead of Mum or Dad. She'd ask about professors at Hogwarts though she had only met one or two. Today shocked her learning that 'Min' was Minerva McGonagall.
"Darling, how do you know Professor McGonagall?" Narcissa asked her daughter softly as she held her in her arms. "You haven't seen her since you were six months old."
Aquila looked down at her lap, she felt sad that her mother had pulled her away from the older witch and she didn't understand why. "She's my friend." The young witch said softly hoping her mother wouldn't hear.
"Okay, sweetheart. But no more running off in public, anyone could grab you and take you away from me." She whispered into her daughters hair before leaving the room with a sigh. 'Why did my aunt make me promise to name my daughter that?' She questioned herself, no one would touch the name, her parents would only call her daughter by her middle name.
It took another 3 years for Narcissa to figure out what happened at Diagon Alley that day. She had gone through every family record she could find, even her aunts diaries which helped her the most.
August 4th, 1960
It has been some years since losing my daughter at her fathers hand, for loving someone who wasn't pure. I gave her permission to marry when they could, now the laws are changing I wish I could walk my baby down the isle. I miss her dearly, she was my youngest, my baby. I still keep an eye on her love from afar, I have never seen Miss McGonagall so removed from the world. I believe the two will find one another again, I can only hope I am still alive to see it. I have seen that she will be the daughter of my niece, Narcissa, who I know will love her just as much as I do. Soulmates will always find each other.
At the end of the entry everything in Narcissa's mind became clear. Her first born, her daughter was her great-aunt that was burned off the family tree before she was born. This hit the youngest Black like a ton of bricks. Her daughter was soulmate to Minerva McGonagall. She decided to keep reading.
December 25th, 1960
It's another Yule without my dear Aquila. I always buy her a gift and hide them in the manor so that one day she can have them. I won't live to see my baby again, I hope that her new mother will allow her to follow her heart and protect both girls.
I have been in contact with Minerva recently, though I haven't told her when Quil will return or to whom, I have informed her that I accepted her as my daughter-in-law years ago. I love them both, I hope they will be safe.
This had the blondes eyes wide open. It seemed her aunt never stopped loving her daughter or supporting her, even after the girl was gone. Her fingers glided across the entry. "I will protect them, Aunt Vi." She whispered closing her eyes. She could swear she heard her aunts voice thanking her.
Narcissa hide the diaries away and made a note to go back to Black Manor and find the gifts. She had to protect her now 8 year old daughter from her husband and the pureblood world. She knew it would take time, but she would find a way to accept that her daughter was going to be with her old professor, one day.
