Hey everyone, Wolf here. I hope y'all's day is going well. This is chapter 2 of Universal Traveler. I will be starting the Star Wars crossover this chapter. I plan on having Percy get a lightsaber, I'm thinking something dual bladed that he can disconnect and dual wield, like Cal Kestis in Jedi: Fallen Order. I might have him fight an inquisitor and his lightsaber be inspired by that. idk, I'll put some more thought into it first. Anyway, I still own nothing, all rights go to rick Riordan and Disney. On with chapter 2.
Percy POV
I walked through the portal, and everything went black for a couple minutes. Then, I fell to the ground in what looked like a giant futuristic city. I saw what looked like an important building in the distance, so I started making my way there. I stopped for food about halfway there, seeing as I hadn't eaten in hours. they were serving some weird food, no hamburgers. It seemed to be alien food. I also saw a lot of aliens on the way, and let me tell you, my universe's definition of alien is off, if they are the same in this universe. I also stopped by a store to buy a cloak; something told me that it would be a good idea. I didn't know what the currency was here, so I just summoned some gold, because who doesn't like gold? I reached the building, which looked like a giant temple now, and I went through the front door. I found someone and asked, "Where am I?"
"This is the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, I'm surprised you don't know this." They replied.
"What is a jedi?" I asked.
"Master Yoda is over there, you should go ask him, seeing as he is one." the person replied.
I looked over in the direction that they pointed and saw a small green person with long pointy ears. That was probably Yoda. I made my way over to him and saw that he was meditating. I waited patiently, and after a bit, Yoda spoke.
"Questions you have, yes? Answer them, I shall." he said, it took me a bit to realize that he spoke kind of backwards.
"Yes sir, I do have questions. Where am I? What are Jedi? And why was I sent here?" I asked him.
"Many questions, you have. Bring you to the council, I will." Yoda said.
the small jedi got up and started walking, and I decided it would be best if I followed him. I was kind of worried, he mentioned a council, I hope they weren't like the Olympians used to be. We reached what looked like an elevator and stepped inside. At least this one didn't have bad music. in fact, it didn't have music at all. We rode in silence, and when we reached the top, we both stepped out.
"Wait here, you should. Gather the council, I will." Yoda spoke.
"Ok, I can do that" I replied to him.
I was waiting there for about 15 minutes, and during that time, I was trying to imagine what this council would be like. I heard Chaos' voice in my head, "Whatever you do, don't piss them off. they are good people Percy, just remember that." she said.
The doors opened, and Yoda said, "Ready for you, we are."
I walked in and saw a circular room, with chairs around the edges. Most of the chairs had someone sitting in it, but some had what looked like a hologram of someone sitting in them. I waited for someone to speak, since I didn't know the customs here. I didn't know if it was rude to speak without being spoken to, or anything like that.
"What is your name?" A bald guy with dark brown skin asked me.
"My name is Percy Jackson." I answered.
"Why are you here? I sense something blocking your mind and emotions from us." the same guy spoke again.
"This may be a bit hard to believe, but I come from another universe. I was told to come here because I would be needed. The creator of my home universe sent me here, after she named me her successor. I can do a power demonstration if you would like." I found myself telling the truth because I felt like I could trust these people.
"Telling the truth, he is." Yoda spoke
"Please do." the bald guy said.
I decided to start with water, since it was what I was the most used to. I turned water molecules in the air into liquid form and made shapes out of it. I then turned it into an ice sword, and did a demonstration with it, then evaporated it again. Next, I went with fire. I had never used it, but it was pretty easy. I summoned some regular fire, and made it move around the room. "Those are only two of my powers, I haven't used any of the others yet." I informed the council.
"Very interesting, master Yoda, do you think he can be trained as a Jedi?" The bald guy spoke again.
"I do, train him myself, I will." Yoda replied.
The council gasped. Apparently, this wasn't a common thing to happen. "This concludes this council meeting for now, we will meet again to discuss Percy's progress later on." The bald guy said. he then walked up to me and introduced himself. "I'm Mace Windu, nice to meet you, Percy."
"You too, I like you guys better than the council in my home universe, they aren't exactly the nicest. And they aren't Jedi either." I replied
"Good to know, anyway, it looks like Master Yoda is waiting for you, best not keep him waiting." Mace said.
I then walked over to Yoda. "What does it mean that you'll train me?
"In the ways of the Force, train you, I will." Yoda said, "find you living quarters, we shall."
"Ok, lead the way." I replied.
With that, we made our way back to the room I waited in, but we went to a different elevator. It was then that I realized that there were multiple elevators in this room. Each of them had some strange writing next to them, I guess it's this universe's written language. We stood in silence as we went down in the elevator. When we got out, I saw many people walking around, adults and children. We made our way through the maze of corridors, until we made it to what I guessed was like the dorms. Yoda found an empty room, and went inside, motioning for me to follow him. It looked like an apartment, just with futuristic technology.
"Your room, this is. Living here, you will be. Your first lesson, tomorrow, you will have." Yoda said, "First, a lightsaber, you must have. Get you one, we shall."
He walked back out, and I followed him again. we were walking for about 10 minutes, before we stopped. We went into a room, and I saw what looked like electric sword hilts, but they were like no hilts I had ever seen before. A robot walked up to us and asked, "What are you here for?"
"A lightsaber, this one needs" Master Yoda replied.
"Ah, Master Yoda, good to see you again. A bit old for an apprentice, is he not? Although, I trust your judgement." The robot said.
"Do you have a melee weapon already? if you do, may I see it?" The robot asked.
I pulled out Riptide and activated it. The robot took it, and a glowing light came out of its eye, like it was scanning it. "Very well crafted, and very durable. Let's see what we can find for you." it said before handing Riptide back to me. I capped it and put it back in my pocket.
"The sabers, call to you, do any?" Master Yoda asked.
"I don't hear anything." I replied, confused.
"Close your eyes, open yourself to the Force, feel anything, do you?" Yoda asked.
I closed my eyes and opened my senses. I felt a tug in my gut. I opened my eyes, and one of the hilts was glowing. Master Yoda and the robot didn't appear to see it. I walked over to it and grabbed it off the wall. It was an elegant hilt, silver with blue designs, and it resembled the ocean. It was about a foot and a half, with a split in the middle.
"Ah, a dual blade, a rare choice. Activate it, press the blue button about halfway between the middle and the end." The robot said.
I did, and a blue laser elongated out of the hilt. It was my favorite shade of blue, and it was the perfect length for me. I saw the same button on the other side, so I held out the weapon horizontally and pressed it. Another blade, the same color and length as the other one, came out of the other end. I was holding a dual bladed laser sword. I had the urge to twist the sides, and they came apart, so I can dual wield, have a double blade, or a single blade. Talk about a cool weapon.
"A good choice. I am curious why that one called out to you though, nobody has ever touched that weapon since the person that made it died, about 500 years ago." the robot said.
"I have always had a connection to the sea, I guess." I replied.
"The Jedi who made that what a Nautolan, they are being who are connected to the sea and can breathe underwater." the robot said.
"Then it is fitting for me. I grew up loving the water." I said.
"A lightsaber, you have. Ready for your training tomorrow, you are. Awake at 0600, you should be." Master Yoda said.
"Thank you, mister robot." I spoke.
With that, we left and went back to my dorm. The sun was going down, and I had a perfect view of the sunset from my room. Master Yoda left to go do Jedi things, I guess, and I just sat there watching the sunset.
'Hey Chaos, you there?' I contacted her mentally.
'Yep, what's up?' she responded almost immediately.
'How is everyone back home doing? how did they take the news?' I asked her.
'They all understood, although Annabeth was sad that she couldn't see you again before you left, she thought the ring was beautiful. She told me to tell you not to do anything stupid and not to piss off any all-powerful beings.' Chaos said.
That made me chuckle, 'I'm glad she liked the ring, I spent a while trying to think of the perfect design. And tell her that I'll try not to mess up without her to fix my messes.' this got a laugh out of my patron.
'Anyway, thanks for the talk and update Chaos, I need to get some sleep, I start my jedi training tomorrow.' I said.
'Ok, sleep well my champion' she replied.
With that I felt her presence leave my head. I laid there trying to go to sleep, until I finally fell asleep. Of course, what would a typical day for me be without a demigod dream. I was standing in a dark room, and there was a person standing in the middle. He was tall, with white hair, and had a cloak on. He was talking to someone via a hologram, I couldn't see the person's face, because he had a hood on, but he looked like the guy with white hair's boss. I tuned into the conversation.
"Everything is going as planned master, Grievous is going to kidnap the chancellor in two months." the guy with white hair said.
"Good, good Dooku. Grievous is easy to manipulate, which makes it easier for us." The hooded figure said.
"Yes he is, he doesn't know that it is really a trap to lure in Skywalker and Kenobi." Dooku said. "Master, I sense a presence, although it is masked." Dooku turned and looked right at me. "Shall I dispose of him?" I knew they were talking about me.
"No, bring him over to you." The Master said.
I felt my dream body being pulled over to them. "Who are you?" he asked.
"None of your business." I replied.
"Perhaps you will be of use to us yet, Dooku, wake him up. he is somehow here in a dream." the Master said.
"With pleasure." Dooku said, right before he raised his hands and pulled a child of Zeus and shot lightning out of his fingertips. I shot out of bed, drenched un sweat. I looked at the clock and realized that it was 0530, 30 minutes before I have to meet Master Yoda. I started getting ready for the day. I found some Jedi clothes in the closet; they looked like a cross between robes and regular clothes. I put them on and left my room, trying to find the meditation area. That's where Master Yoda said we were going to be meeting today. I ended asking someone for directions, and I learned that I was going in the wrong direction. It took about 10 minutes to get there, and I had about 5 minutes to catch my breath and prepare for the lesson.
Master Yoda walked in at exactly 0600, right as the sun was coming up.
"On time, you are. A good thing, that is." Master Yoda spoke.
"Today, meditation, we shall be practicing." He said.
This is going to be fun. I can't sit still for the life of me. I looked around for a good place to sit, and that's when I realized that there was a pond in the middle of the garden. I walked over to it and sat down on a rock in the middle of it. Master Yoda sat down on a smaller rock beside me.
"Calm your mind, you must. Something to center yourself on, you must find." Master Yoda said.
I focused on the water, the still ness, the ripples, the fish swimming in it. I heard master Yoda speak. "Good, good. Calmed yourself, you have. Now, gather your worries, your doubts, your emotions. Release them into the Force, you shall."
I gathered my negative emotions and imagined them leaving my body. After I did this, I felt lighter, calmer.
"Now, feel, how do you?" Master Yoda asked.
"I feel lighter, calmer, like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders." I responded, keeping my eyes closed, and keeping my mind clear.
"Good, good. A key part of being a Jedi, meditation is. Negative thoughts, cloud your judgement, they do. Act rashly because of them, you may." he explained.
For about 6 hours, we just sat there, Master and Apprentice, meditating. We left the meditation area at around 1200, when we went to go find food. We reached the Jedi's equivalent of a food court at around 1215, and we got something to eat and sat down. It would have looked kind of funny to everyone back home, actually. A 6'2 human and a small green creature eating lunch together.
"Master, what is the force? I've heard people mention it, but I don't fully understand it." I asked him.
"Hmm. An energy, it is. Surrounds and connects all living things, it does. Use it offensively and defensively, Jedi can. Helps us connect to it, meditation does. Feel anything during meditation, did you?" Yoda asked.
"I did feel something. I felt a connection to everything and everyone in the room. Is that the Force?" I asked.
"The Force, that is. Surprised, I am, that made that much progress, you did. For many people, to reach that level, years, it may take." Master Yoda said.
We finished eating and left the dining area. We then went to what seemed kind of like a dojo. I saw staffs and metal poles on the walls. I also saw a wall that had lightsaber hilts on it. There was a large area in the middle of the room, probably meant for sparring.
"Your saber, bring it, you did, yes?" Master Yoda asked.
"Yes Master, I did." I replied. I unclipped it from my belt, holding it in my right hand.
Another person in Jedi robes walked in through another door. I was surprised to see that it was Master Windu.
"Here for your first saber lesson, Percy?" he asked.
"Yes Master, I am. Although, I have fighting experience from my home universe, and swords are my specialty." I replied.
"Good, that will make this easier. Show me your saber." Master Windu said.
I raised my saber and activated one blade. I did some experimental swings and found that the blade weighed almost nothing. It still felt perfectly balanced though. I then activated the other blade and did some swings and spins. After I got used to that, I detached the blades, and got used to dual wielding them. When I was done, I reconnected them and deactivated the blades.
"An elegant saber, you have chosen. Although I am surprised that that particular saber called to you. As I'm sure the saber droid mentioned, nobody has touched that weapon in 500 years. It was only taken off the wall to be cleaned, and that was done by the droid." Master Windu explained.
"It just felt right. I've always had a connection to the sea." I replied.
"Show me your stance." Master Windu said.
I took up my usual stance that I use with riptide, but it felt wrong. I moved around until I found a stance that felt right. My feet were shoulder width apart, with my knees bent slightly. I was holding the sword over my right shoulder, with the blade and my head turned to the side, looking at Master Windu. I had both hands on the hilt, spaced out so that I had a hand on each side of the hilt. Master windu walked around me, inspecting the stance. He seemed surprised by it, but he approved.
"I saw that you changed from your initial stance, why?" he inquired.
"The first stance you saw was the stance I use with my sword, Riptide. It felt wrong with this weapon though, seeing as the blade weighs almost nothing. So, I changed the stance and found this one, which felt right." I explained.
"That makes sense. The stance that you use can determine whether or not you win or lose a battle. You chose a strong stance with both offensive and defensive capabilities." Master windu said.
"Now, are you prepared to spar? We don't usually move this fast with apprentices, but you seem to have more fighting experience than most people your age." he spoke again after a couple seconds.
"Yes Master, I am." I replied.
We took up stances about 10 feet away from each other. I took up the same stance, and Master windu took up a stance with his legs shoulder width apart, knees bent, and holding his saber pointing up to the side. I really liked his saber, Not as much as mine though. A purple saber is cool, but blue is still my favorite color. We started circling each other, waiting for our opponent to make the first move. I decided to start with a strong side slash, which was easily blocked by him. He did a string of attacks, a few side slashes followed by an overhead slash, which I dodged and then followed up with a diagonal slash. He parried it, and then did a feint, slashing to one side, but changing at the last moment to the other side. If I wasn't an experienced fighter, I would have lost, luckily, I was the best swordfighter in a thousand years back home, so I parried his feint and followed up with a kick to the stomach, which knocked him down onto the ground. I held my saber to his throat. "Yield Master." I spoke.
"I yield" he said. We deactivated our weapons, and I helped him up.
"I don't think I've ever seen someone that good with a lightsaber this early in their training." Master Windu complimented, "But don't let it go to your head, there is always someone that can defeat you. Everyone has weaknesses, what is yours?"
"Well, someone back on my home world once said that my fatal flaw is personal loyalty. She said that I would sacrifice the world to save a friend. But, I have always found a way to save both my friends and the world." I told him.
"That is something that you must control Percy. If your enemies found out, they could exploit it and get you to do something rash that could cost your life, or others." Master Windu said.
"Yes Master, I will learn to control it." I replied.
"I think that's enough sparring for today. We will work on your skills with your saber in dual blade form tomorrow." Master Windu said.
"Yes Master, I will see you tomorrow." I said to him.
With that said, Master Windu left. I walked over to Master Yoda, who had observed the entire thing. He stood up, and we walked back to the meditation area. We walked there in silence; I was deep in thought about what Master Windu had said. He was right, I did need to learn to control my fatal flaw, or it would end up getting me, or someone else killed.
We reached our destination, and we went back to where we sat this morning. I sat down and cleared my mind. I gathered my emotions and released them into the force. I could feel Master Yoda doing the same beside me. I imagined myself at Montauk beach. The waves were high, probably because of my emotions. I focused on calming the waves, until they were calm enough for me to swim in. I dove in, and swam down, sitting down on the bottom. I watched the marine life go by, fish, sharks, even some dolphins. I was pulled out of my meditation when I heard Master Yoda start speaking.
"Get some food, we should. Hear your thoughts on the day, I would like to." he said.
We made our way over to the dining area and got something to eat. We sat down at the same table as we did at lunch. I realized how hungry I was after that sparring session.
"So, enjoy today, did you?" Master Yoda asked.
"Yes Master, I did. Back home, I was never able to meditate because I couldn't sit still. I found today that, by sitting by the water, I was able to focus on the water and clear my mind. I also felt better after releasing my emotions. I like the food in this universe, it's different from back home. Also, I enjoyed getting to spar again. I haven't gotten to spar with anyone in a while, at least, not a good spar. I was the best swordsman back home, so I was the person that taught everyone else how to fight. Nobody could fight me for more than a couple minutes. I was the leader back home, people always looked up to me, so I had a lot of pressure on my shoulders. Leading is hard, as I'm sure you know. It's harder than most people think. You have to keep yourself calm and collected at all times. if you panic, then everyone panics. A leader has to stay strong for the people that he is leading. It was hard for me to do that back home; I was lucky to have my girlfriend Annabeth to help me with it. Anyway, It felt good to not have to be the leader today, I felt like a normal person almost." I spoke.
"Lead alone, nobody can. Under the pressure, crack, most people will. A strong person, you are. Glad that you are my apprentice, I am." Master Yoda replied.
"And I am glad that you chose me to be your apprentice, I have learned a lot already, and it has only been a day since I got here. Thank you for everything you have done for me Master." I spoke.
"Welcome, you are. Now, Force training, you have." Master Yoda said.
We finished eating and left the dining area. We went down a different set of hallways, until we reached another room. Nobody else what there, it was just Master Yoda and I.
"The basics of using the Force, I will teach you. Place your saber on the ground." Master Yoda spoke. Once I had done so, he continued, "good, now, sit across the room. Feel the Force around you. Use it, you can. Feel the Force around the weapon, do you? Use it, you shall, to lift the saber. Once brought the saber to you using the Force, you have, over, this lesson will be."
"Yes Master" I replied.
I closed my eyes, and reached out with my senses. I could feel the Force around me. I could feel my lightsaber on the ground. I tried to lift it with the Force, I felt it wiggle, but then it fell still. I tried again, but got the same result. I kept trying, for half an hour. Not once did I manage to lift the saber. I opened my eyes and got up, frustrated. Why couldn't I lift the stupid saber?
"It's impossible, I've been trying for half an hour, and I can't lift the damn thing." I complained to Master Yoda.
"Stop trying, you must. Do or do not, there is no try." Master Yoda said.
"Yes Master." I replied.
I sat down again and closed my eyes. I reached out again, and I felt the saber through the Force. I focused on the Force around the saber. I reached out my hand, palm up, and lifted it, and the saber went with it. I pushed my palm towards me, and the saber floated over towards me. I opened my eyes and grabbed it out of the air. I got up and turned to Master Yoda.
"Good job, my padawan. Succeeded, you have. You must keep a calm mind. If clouded, your thoughts are, then succeed, you will not." He spoke.
"Yes Master, I will do my best." I replied.
"The best you can do, that is." Master Yoda said. "Soon, sundown will be. Back to your quarters, you should go. At 0600, in the meditation area, you shall be."
"Yes Master." I replied.
We then left the room, and Master Yoda went somewhere, probably doing Jedi Master stuff. I managed to navigate the labyrinth of hallways and find my room before sundown. I got changed into sleeping clothes, then sat down and watched the sunset through my window. after the sun had gone down, I sat down on my bed and meditated, releasing my emotions into the force. I decided not to contact Chaos, because I needed my judgement to be clear, even if that means not contacting anyone for a bit. I managed to get to sleep fairly fast, and I actually had a dreamless sleep for once.
Alright, that's chapter 2. Geez, over 4000 words, that's a lot for me. Anyway, if you liked it, or even if you didn't, reviews are always appreciated. I'd love to hear y'all's thoughts on what I've done with the story so far. Yoda is one of my favorite characters, so I decided to have him be Percy's Master. I hope everyone enjoyed reading this, because I sure enjoyed writing it. I'll see y'all next chapter. Wolf out.
