As he exited the room, he saw her. Leia. She pulled herself upright, wiping angrily at her tears. She stared at him; her jaw tight.
Just then, his comm beeped. Aggravated, Vader brought it up.
"What is it?!"
"Lord Vader, we have captured a ship entering the system. We're bringing it in via tractor beam now. You ordered us to inform you if anything unusual should happen." Captain Piett reported.
Vader almost snapped at the man. How was this something unusual?
He reached out with the Force to see if they were Rebels or just scavengers. That's when he felt him. Kenobi.
"Hold that ship. I will come down personally." He said, snapping off the comm.
"Kenobi," he growled to himself, turning to the door with a whoosh of his cape.
"General Kenobi?" Leia asked, some hope rising in her voice.
Vader turned, pointing his finger at her.
"Do not even think about it, Princess Leia. He will not reach you. He will not live long enough to escape this battle station himself. I will see to it!"
"No!" she exclaimed, "He will come find me! He will rescue me from you. There is nothing you can do to stop him," she said confidently, her chin high and defiant.
"Is that so?" Vader snarled. "No, he will not rescue you, Princess. You will stay here with me. No one is taking you from me. You are mine."
Her back straightened; her fists clenched.
"No one owns me. Certainly not you."
Vader snarled again, his voice cracking through the vocoder.
"I see, Princess. Now, sleep," he ordered, using the Force to push against her shields.
Leia fought, wobbling on her feet.
"No."
"Sleep," he commanded again.
She sank down to her knees.
"No," she said weakly.
"Sleep," he said for the final time; his voice deep and commanding.
She collapsed onto the floor.
Using the Force, Vader lifted her and set her on the bed.
How much she looked like her mother, he thought.
Kenobi.
Vader stormed out of the room, fists clenched and lightsaber drumming against his side, as he went to end the man who had caused him so much pain. The man who put him in this suit. The man who took his child from him! The man who would not live to see another day.
