"I-I…uh, I challenge, thee, d-d-dragon, to combat! To freedom-free, to free Princess Antonia Stark from y-your vile imprisonment!" The unsteady voice rose into a squeak by the end.
"Is he serious?" Bucky looked away from the high arrowslit window to peer through the doorway of the room where Toni was lounging on a daybed, loose-limbed and utterly relaxed, book in hand.
"Huh?" She looked up from Fun With Singularities, frowning, before the shrill voice outside caught her attention.
"Is that…?" She craned her neck to look out the nearest window. "Oh, holy shit! It is!" She laughed, mocking. "That's Hammer down there! Oh, excuse me, Sir Hammer."
Bucky watched her, bemused, as she tossed her book aside and went to lean out the window.
"Oh. My. God." She snorted, her whole body shaking. "He made his own armor. He saw what I made Rhodey and he tried to copy it. This is…this is priceless."
"You want me to freeze him?" Bucky asked dubiously, wondering if attacking …that… was even worth the energy it would take to draw breath.
Toni snorted. "Don't waste your time." She pushed away from the stone window frame and flopped back onto the daybed.
"Let me tell you all about Sir Justin Hammer."
Bucky wound his way around the side of the castle, moving with the silence and fluidity the Winter Dragon was known for when hunting.
"Can you hear me, Princess?" The human in the clunky, steam-powered armor continued to yell from the other side of the moat. "I've come to save you! Defeat the e-evil dragon," his voice went high-pitched again there, "and make you my bride!"
Where did he even come up with this shit? Bucky rolled his eyes before springing forward, surging out into view with a roar.
"AAAAAHHHHH!" Sir Justin Hammer shrieked, arms flailing as he fell backwards.
His armor made a crunching noise and abruptly went to pieces around him.
A weedy, bespeckled human lay there at Bucky's feet, staring up at him in absolute terror.
Bucky lowered his head, wisps of snow blowing from his snout. The human's eyes, already huge behind his glasses, grew even wider.
"Boo."
Hammer shrieked again. Metal went flying as he scrambled to his feet and, in nothing but an undershirt, socks, and smiley-face boxers, tore away from the castle as fast as his feet would carry him.
Bucky shook his head. "What a putz."
