Summary:

Music will interject when you don't have the words.

"I'm in a funk…" Dai sighed, twirling his drumstick between his second, third, and fourth fingers. Lately, his music wasn't popping as it should. He was unsatisfied with himself, and he was too immobilized by his unspectacular playing to improve or divine the source of his music's decline.

"Don't give up so easily, Dai!" Gotetsu completed the crossing of his limbs by also crossing his arms. "Play what makes you happy!"

"What makes me happy?" Dai visualized Susumu on his bike, immediately taking cover under his covers to hopefully escape his gay thoughts. "Nonono!"

"What's wrong, Dai?" the god of stone asked.

"Quit suggesting things out of the blue!"

Gotetsu lifted his tea to his mouth from the base of the cup. "Only lookin' out for you, Dai!"'

Dai's heart was quietly (or not so quietly) thumping out the rudiments of a song. The covers couldn't offer cover when the pounding was coming from inside rather than outside.

He remembered how light Susumu felt, falling into his arms off Hangnail's hanger. The fleeting few seconds Susumu was close enough to wrap his whole body around, which Susumu of course forgot along with the Jyarikishin using him for a hostage.

Dai's music didn't pop lately because his free time was wasted banging out his frustrations instead of playing, as Gotetsu said, what made him happy.

It was difficult living up to Susumu's image of him as this cool soloist when he could hardly admit to the boy he liked that he liked him.

Hide as he may, however, his heart's insistences were more difficult to ignore.

Dai climbed back down off his bunk and sat at his drums again.

Love, he conceded, he'd find the right notes for.
