Chapter 2

Barrowpaws POV

Barrowpaw was bored, he wished he could have gone with Dandelionpaw to see that kittypet. He watched his mentor discuss with Frogstar and Squirrelwhisker about the kittypet.

Barrowpaw guessed that they were going to put more patrols towards twoleg place because that's where she ran. He was about to go closer to listen in on their conversation, when he saw Rabbittail, Sandhop and Dustfeather walk into the camp with Dandelionpaw slowly walking behind them. What did she do this time..

They ran up to the leader and started discussing things while Dandelionpaw came towards Barrowpaw. "What did you do this time, crowfood for brains" Dandelionpaw responded with, "attacked a kittypet." He went wide-eyed and asked with concern, "What did she look like" Dandelionpaw sighed, "Black cat, pink collar, and yellow eyes."

he paused, "w-what a coincidence.." He said anxiety drenched. She gets annoyed, "What is that supposed to mean" Barrowpaw stepped back, "Uuh.. Nothing?"

They both stopped when Frogstar announced, "Let all cats old enough to catch prey gather here around the highrock!" As all cats gathered the leader started with, "We're going to have more patrols near the twoleg place, due to the spotting of a black kittypet" Borrowpaw jumped up and asked, "Can I go?"

Dandelionpaw jumped up two and said, "I want to go too! I want to learn my lesson, I promise I won't attack any kittypets again!" Frogstar stared at her in thought, "That is up to your mentor.." They looked at Rabbittail, "no, you aren't allowed to leave camp until I say so." Dandelionpaws excited expression vanished, meanwhile Barrowpaw felt relieved.

If Dandelionpaw found out i'm crushing on a kittypet i'd never hear the end of it thought Barrowpaw. Barrowpaw looked at his mentor expectingly, "I don't want Barrowpaw to go, i'm not sure any apprentice should.." Frogstar nodded at that answer. Barrowpaw had tried to hide his disappointment but his ears and tail drooped.

As the meeting continued Barrowpaw noticed that Dandelionpaw wasn't next to him anymore. He spotted her sneakily walking away from camp. She was in a spot just right so only Barrowpaw could see her.

Quickly he jumped up and followed her, making sure she couldn't see. As he followed her he realized she was heading towards twoleg place. I can't let her hurt that kittypet thought Barrowpaw who had started to catch up with her.

"Dandelionpaw!" Barrowpaw called, Dandelionpaw turned, "Barrowpaw? What are you doing here?" She tilted her head in confusion, "Stopping you from doing something stupid!" Barrowpaw hissed.

Dandelionpaws eyes widened, "Wait, are you on the side of the kittypet?" Barrowpaw paused, not wanting Dandelionpaw to know, he needed to have a quick cover. "N-no! I just think you should give her a chance? What did she do anyway?" Asked Barrowpaw.

Dandelionpaws eyes were nothing but slits, "She mocked clan cats! and she wouldn't get off our territory!" Barrowpaw stepped back mocked clan cats? Does that mean… "I'm sure it was a misunderstanding?" His statement sounded more like a question.

Dandelionpaw growled, although her size wasn't intimidating, her bite sure was, "So calling us, dumb hostile forest cats is a misunderstanding?" Barrowpaw paused, "…yess?" With that she hissed and said, "Ugh! This is getting us nowhere!" She then bolted as fast as she could towards twoleg place.

Dandelionpaws POV

Dandelionpaw knew she wasn't a good runner, especially in the cold weather, but she couldn't stand sitting still in camp with an intruder on their territory. Her paws thumped hard against the snow, she was determined to make it to twoleg place. Her fur started to get heavy as it collected with snow.

"Trouble running a clan cat?" The black kitty-pet slyly stalked out of the surrounding bushes. Dandelionpaw, now not needing to run further, shook off the snow and growled, "What are you doing here kittypet?" She rolled her eyes and said, "I have a name you know, dumb forest cat."

Dandelionpaw growled, "I don't care for your name! Just get off our territory!" Barrowpaw, full speed crashed into the kittypet by accident. The kitty-pet let out a yowl of content as Barrowpaw hurriedly got off her flustered.

Dandelionpaw had heard the putrid sound and said, "Barrowpaw get away from her!" "I-I um" He turned to the kitty-pet "I'm sorry about this… mouse brain!" he hissed at

Dandelionpaw. Dandelionpaw stared at him, "What? Are you kidding? Why are you siding with her? What about the clan?" "I don't see the difference between kittypets, the clans or rouges! We're all cats!"

Barrowpaw exclaimed. Dandelionpaw looked outraged, "So are you saying that a kit and a leader are equal? Should a kit be running the clans?" She hissed. "You're missing the point! I- um well-" Barrowpaw was a stuttering mess.

The kittypet looked at him, amusement in her eyes, "You're pretty cute for a clan cat." Barrowpaw nearly passed out, he was flustered. Dandelionpaw was in shock, "You're flirting with a kittypet? b-but what about the clan?"

Her anger turned to sadness when she looked at him. Barrowpaw didn't know what to say and his response just came out as a very odd gurgle noise.

Dandelionpaw felt crestfallen, she no longer cared for the kittypets rudeness, she only cared for her friend's morals. She didn't understand why he would do something like this, "Just explain it to me, why do you feel this way about a kittypet?"

The kittypet who pressed herself against him trying to look innocent, is she trying to get to me? thought Dandelionpaw Wait, why does Barrowpaw look like he's enjoying himself? Barrowpaw stuttered "H-hey want to go somewhere where you don't get discriminated against, also my name's Barrowpaw"

She looked at him and purred, "I noticed and Pine." They both walked off and Dandelionpaw stared at them in despair. I thought we were friends… She went back towards camp, knowing that there was no point in chasing.

As she snuck back she noticed that most of the warriors were either on the patrol or most likely hunting, but she saw Frogstar sharing tongues with squirrelwhisker, his mate. She walked up to them, "Hey, can I ask you something?" and sat close by. "Anything you like"

Frogstar nodded, "Of course Dandelionpaw"

"What would you do if squirrelwhisker left with a kittypet?" Frogstar purred in amusement, "I doubt that will ever happen!" "Thats what I thought.." Squirrelwhisker tilted his head in confusion, "What was that?"

Dandelionpaw shook her head, "Nothing that you would understand.." Squirrelwhisker had a concerned expression, "Is everything okay, Dandelionpaw?" He asked. She nodded in defeat and went back to her den. She layed in her nest and let her eyes flutter to a close.
