Total Drama: Dragonborn
…
Chapter 1: Surprises in Store
Chris looked at his assembled collection of contestants for the reality series he was about to host. But if you knew what went on inside the actor turned TV host's mind, you wouldn't call them contestants, more like victims.
In truth, Chris had something special planned for this new series that even the studio executives didn't know about. Not that they could do anything about it anyway, thanks to a special new friend Chris had recently become acquainted with. This new friend had promised him a whole host of promises and favours to change things up a little on the show. Among those things was including two more contestants adding to the twenty-two already here. One of whom would already be supplied, but the other, Chris would have to select from among the ranks of celebrity stardom.
Chris had no trouble finding the next addition to the cast of contestants; it was stupidly easy to find some lingerie supermodel, bribe her agent and feed her a lie that if she won, the prize money would go to her favourite charity. The stupid model fell for the bait easily.
Chris's silent partner, so to speak, had brought in his contestant and Chris briefly met the man. In all honesty, the guy looked like a method-acting live action role player, which Chris figured would be good for laughs at seeing the other contestants deal with some freaky cosplayer.
But now, Chris had to announce to his victims of the news.
"Alright, campers, I have some surprises for you all," he said to them with a disarming, charming grin.
"Great… like this could get any worse," the goth girl, Gwen, muttered under her breath despairingly.
Chris ignored the moody young woman by saying, "I know on the application forms you signed there would only be twenty-two of you, but I kinda lied about that," he said with a snicker.
"Wait… there are gonna be more contestants joining us?" the musician, Trent asked in surprise. "Who are they gonna be?"
"Well, it just so happens the twenty-third camper is just about to arrive," Chris said as he turned to see the boat arrive from the mainland and the model he had convinced (read: tricked) into coming onto this show stepped off the boat, towing a small suitcase behind her. All the campers stared at the woman awestruck. Well, the girls were awestruck, but the male half were dazzled by who it was standing before them.
She was tall with a slender athletic hourglass figure. She had long toned looking legs and arms were lean and slender ending in elegant perfectly manicured hands that had some simple gold jewellery on them. A long golden blonde mane of hair framed her face that could only be described as angelically beautiful with subtle skilful make-up that put even Lindsay's to shame. Soft full looking lips were curled into a warm and friendly smile and her eyes were a deep sapphire blue as she gazed at the contestants calmly.
"Everyone, meet Victoria's Secret supermodel Candice Swanepoel!" Chris declared proudly.
"It's nice to meet you all," Candice said to them with another warm smile that dazzled nearly everyone.
The science geek, Cody, looked up to the heavens with tears in his eyes and whispered, "Thank you! Thank you, God!"
"Will anyone explain to me why a Victoria's Secret model is a part of this show?" Heather asked the question on every camper's mind. Internally however, Heather was seething; she was already making plans to win this contest but with the appearance of a legitimate celebrity/supermodel being part of the cast, it would appear she would have to revise her plans a little. But she was confident that she could get the upper hand on this stupid supermodel.
"Well, since you asked, we convinced Ms Swanepoel to join the show because we needed a big name to go with this, plus we offered to donate a large contribution to one of her favourite charities," Chris said giving a textbook answer.
"Works for me!" Owen crowed happily as he stared longingly at Candice who then joined the campers.
"So, any other campers joining us?" Bridgette asked, wondering if some sports star like a pro footballer was going to join them.
"Glad you asked, Bridgette," Chris responded. "This leads me to introduce my partner who brought this idea to me who's bringing the next contestant with him now," he said.
And walking into view was a pair of individuals; one was a tall gangly looking man wearing a finely tailored purple suit and walking beside him was a comparatively taller man clad head to toe in midnight black armour.
"Mr Cheeseman, I see you've brought our final contestant," Chris said with a smile.
"Indeed, I did," Mr Cheeseman replied with an accent that sounded like a mix between Scottish and Irish. "Martin? Say hello to your fellow contestants," he prompted the armoured man beside.
The armoured knight did not say anything but simply nodded in response. "Heh, fellow of few words," Mr Cheeseman explained easily. "Well, I look forward to watching you. Mind telling them the next surprise, Mr Mclean?" he asked Chris.
"With pleasure," Chris said. "Now, you won't be staying here at this summer camp," he told the contestants who all had surprised looks on their faces. "Rather, we'll be sending you into a, shall we say, highly advanced virtual reality simulation," he explained.
"How advanced are we talking?" Harold asked.
"Anyone seen the Matrix?" And almost everyone nodded. "About as advanced as that," Chris said.
"Cool! So, if one of us gets hurt or dies, we'll die in real life?" Izzy aske excitedly much to the consternation of the other campers.
"No, nothing quite so dangerous as that," Chris replied. "You can die, but it's not permanent. You'll simply… respawn close by, like a videogame," he then said after a moment of trying to think of an explanation.
"So, what kind of simulation is it going to be?" Noah asked warily.
"You'll be in a simulation of life in a post-apocalyptic American state," Chris replied.
"Which state?" Geoff asked curiously.
"You'll have to find out for yourself, Geoff-ster," Chris said with an almost sinister chuckle. "A few things you'll need to know before you go in. You'll start off with nothing more than the clothes on your back, plus these nifty little wrist computers!" A crate was brought out and opened to reveal some bulky looking wrist computers.
"I am not wearing that!" Heather said scathingly. "It'll clash with my outfit!" she added.
"You sure about that, Heather?" Chris asked her slyly. "These babies come with radios, radiation detectors, catalogue your inventory and even act as a medical scanner of your body, to name a few features," he said enticingly.
"Ugh! Fine!" Heather muttered in disgust as she realised that she might need such an ugly looking device to play this stupid simulation.
"Oh, and Mr Martin?" Chris said and the armoured knight looked at him. "You're gonna have to give up your armour and weapons," the host told him.
"And if I want them back?" the man known as Martin asked.
"You can always find them out in the simulated world," Chris said with a smirk. "Happy hunting. So, c'mon, fork 'em over!"
Martin sighed as he began to pull off his heavy looking onyx armour. He pulled off the full helm to reveal his face to everyone and everyone stared in surprise, even Chris looked a little surprised too.
Martin had pale scarred skin with silver-blonde hair atop his head with the sides shaved closely to see the shadow of his scalp. A close-cropped beard of silvery bristles covered a strong anvil like jaw with lips set in a firm serious line and his eyes were a deep and dark indigo colour that seemed to smoulder with a quiet intensity.
"Whoa!" Gwen uttered as she stared transfixed at the surprisingly handsome looking man before everyone. Martin then noticed everyone looking at him intently and he said, "What?"
"Nothing!" Courtney squeaked out and she blushed as Martin looked at her with those deep indigo eyes. "Crap! He's gorgeous!" she whispered to herself; she had thought that Justin was the most handsome contestant of this show, but Martin quickly looked to be the second most handsome contestant.
Martin grunted before he then proceeded to undo the buckles and straps that held his armour, shedding each piece off until he was left in nothing more than a loin cloth, revealing his mostly bare body to everyone. What amazed everyone was just how muscular Martin was and how many scars he had; the scars ranged from claw marks, burns, punctures and slash wounds.
"Gimme all your one-dollar bills!" Izzy hissed at the girls as she looked at Martin with what could only be described as pure wild lust in her eyes. She had already thought this Martin guy was going to be interesting, but seeing the man like this already had her hormones going into overdrive.
The male campers were awestruck at the physique Martin possessed. Some of the more athletic boys like Duncan, Geoff, Justin and DJ were impressed as they knew it would take a lot of work to reach such a level of physical fitness, while the others who weren't so athletic were envious.
Cody whispered to Noah, "He looks more like Thor than Thor in the movies!" Noah nodded in agreement, his dark brown eyes wide with surprise.
"Impressive," Candice said to herself quietly; her time as a model had allowed her to see many men in the fashion industry of varying physical shapes, many of whom she called friend and colleague. Her boyfriend Hermann was on such specimen, but Candice would be lying if she said she didn't find this Martin fellow attractive on a primitive physical level.
"Okay! We've all seen him without that larping armour on, can we get on with this?" Heather asked in irritation, though one could see that she was staring at Martin very intently with well-hidden lust in her eyes.
"As much as I like seeing everyone ogle the new guy, Heather does have a point," Chris said in amusement as he could see the looks of lust and envy on the campers' faces. "We do have a few more points to address," he then stated.
"Such as?" Bridgette asked as she reluctantly pulled her gaze away from Martin's near naked body to look at the host of the show.
"You'll start off with the clothes on your back and the wrist computers we've supplied, so you're gonna have to forage, salvage and craft whatever you need to survive in the simulation, because you're gonna face more than a few things that won't like you," Chris said to the campers.
"Like what?" Leshawna asked in worry.
"Oh, mutated wildlife, out of control robots, angry mutants. Everything you would expect to find in a post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland," Chris replied with a wide smile. "Plus, you'll be facing each other," he then said with an almost sadistic look on his face.
"You mean-?" Harold asked in fear as he glanced at Duncan who quickly caught on and looked at him with an evil smile on his face.
"Yes, you can face each other in this simulation, but there's some stipulations to that," Chris said.
"Like what?" Courtney enquired.
"If one of your fellow contestants attacks and you don't retaliate, they'll only do minimal damage to you." Duncan's face fell at that. "But if you retaliate, then you can damage each as normal." Duncan perked up at that.
"What happens if we don't retaliate at all and we get killed?" Cody asked.
"Then your murderer will get a bounty on their heads, at which, everyone else is free to try and claim the bounty by killing them," Chris explained and Duncan gave a little groan of frustration at that while Harold breathed a sigh of relief.
"So, we'll all be facing each other? Like the Hunger Games?" Beth asked.
"Not quite," Chris said. "Since there are twenty-four of you now, you'll be divided into teams of twelve," he explained.
"I have to be on the same team with Sadie, or I'll die!" Katie cried out.
"I'll break out in hives! It's true!" Sadie stated fearfully.
Chris ignored that by continuing with, "So, when I call your name, please stand over here." Everyone waited with bated breath for Chris to call out the first contestant.
"Geoff!" Geoff walked to stand on the spot indicated by Chris.
"Ezekiel!" Ezekiel moved to stand beside Geoff.
"Eva! Tyler! Izzy! Courtney! Harold! Bridgette! DJ! Duncan! Martin! And… Sadie!" Chris called out in rapid succession.
"Wait! What about Katie?!" Sadie cried in dismay.
"You twelve will be known as… the Stupendous Settlers!" Chris announced as he handed over a banner with a blue colour scheme and the symbol of a hand holding a workman's hammer.
"The rest of you campers will be known as… the Rambunctious Raiders!" Chris then told the other campers as he produced a black flag with a red skull painted on it.
"Awesome! I'm a raider! Woohoo!" Owen crowed triumphantly.
"Now that that's settled, let's get on with the show, shall we?" Chris suggested with a smile. "Chef? Bring it in!" Chef Hatchet drove in semi-trailer towing a large mechanical monstrosity that looked like it was made of pure tetanus.
"Is that thing even safe? Who built it?" Noah deadpanned.
"It's safe, we tested it to make sure," Chris grinned while Chef Hatchet gave a shudder.
"Settlers! You'll be first to go in!" Chris then told the Settlers team. "Raiders, you'll go in after them," he said to the Raiders team. "Are you all ready?" he asked.
Martin simply moved forward to stand on the pad of the teleporter. "Let's do this," he grunted. "You coming, or what?" he asked looking at his teammates.
"Hell yeah! Wait for me, Marty-boy!" Izzy said with a cackle as she practically pounced to stand very close to Martin.
"Well, if he's doing it, I guess we all should too," DJ said with a shrug of his shoulders as he moved to stand on the pad.
"Settlers? Are you ready?" Chris called out to them from a control panel.
"Just get it over with already!" Eva growled out aggressively.
"Okay then," Chris said as he put his hand to the switch and after a moment, he flipped it.
The machine hummed to life and wheezed and clanked to life. A few pipes came loose much to everyone's alarm. "Don't worry! Those weren't even necessary!" Chris said with a cheesy grin plastered on his face.
"Stop! I want off!" DJ cried out in fear and before he could even jump off the pad, in a flash of bright blue light, the Stupendous Settlers disappeared.
…
In a blink of light, Martin and his team found themselves standing in the middle of a road. It was a bright sunny day and it appeared there were woodlands on either side of the road the team stood on.
"So, this is the simulation of a post-apocalyptic America?" Geoff asked as he cast his gaze around the road. "Not what I thought it would be, bro," he said.
"What did you expect?" Courtney said to him. "Ash filled skies with plains littered with bones and skulls of people?" she added.
"Chris did say that the simulation was of post-apocalyptic American state, so maybe the apocalypse has passed," Bridgette said thoughtfully.
"Either way, we'll need to find shelter," Martin said to everyone. "Then we'll need to find food and water," he added.
"He's right," Harold said in agreement. "In a situation like this, it's important to find somewhere safe to shelter in and then find food and water," he added.
"Oh, come on! It's a simulation!" Courtney said scathingly. "It's not gonna be that realistic!"
"You forget what Chris said about dying in the simulation?" Duncan reminded her.
"Yeah, but it's not permanent!" Courtney retorted.
"Wanna test that theory?" Eva threatened.
"Enough," Martin said firmly and clearly making everyone look at him. "We're not getting anywhere bickering. We find somewhere to shelter and then we start looking for food and water," he told them.
"I think we should listen to Martin here," Bridgette said in agreement. "We can argue about how realistic this simulation is later," she added. She then looked at Martin and realised he was still mostly naked save his loincloth and said to him, "And maybe we should start finding you some clothes."
Martin then turned around and walked ahead. "Hey! Wait up, Marty-boy!" Izzy cackled as she dashed after Martin and launched herself on the young man's back, wrapping her arms around his thick neck. "Do I even weigh anything to you?" the ginger-haired girl asked him.
"No," came Martin's blunt response as everyone then caught up to him and walked beside him. As everyone walked along the road, Bridgette looked at Sadie who looked to be on the verge of tears. Surmising that she might be missing Katie, Bridgette tried to give some comforting words by saying, "Hey, it's gonna be okay. You'll see Katie again soon."
"I wanna be a Raider… I wanna be with Katie," Sadie said with a whimper. Bridgette gave a little sigh as she realised that Sadie was pretty much inconsolable at the moment.
Martin having heard the exchange spoke, "You're going to have to get used to being without Katie. So, you'd better get used to it," he said.
"Hey! Harsh, much?" Courtney said to him.
"It's the truth," Martin said simply.
"Yeah, but you could be a little nicer about it!" Courtney chastised.
"Don't have time for it," Martin said without even looking at her.
"Jerk!" Courtney muttered at Martin's apparent callous nature.
"Well, I'm just glad the other team has more girls on their side than we do," Ezekiel said.
"And what is that supposed to mean?" Bridgette asked not liking the apparent sexist subtext in the prairie boy's words.
"Well, my pa always told me that guys are stronger than girls and should always help them if they can't keep up," Ezekiel said with his rustic unsophisticated nature.
Everyone stopped to look at the farmboy in astonishment and offense. "You wanna say that again, farmboy?!" Eva snarled angrily, ready to tear Ezekiel's head from his shoulders.
"Whoa! Calm down, everyone!" Geoff said trying to defuse the situation. "It's not like he said guys are smarter than girls or anything!" he added in defence.
"Well, they are," Ezekiel said stupidly.
Everyone then looked at Ezekiel with looks of disapproval and Martin then spoke in a cold tone of voice that had everyone shivering in fear, and the look in his dark indigo eyes gave the look of some chilling beast of prey poised to attack. "Ezekiel. Consider yourself banished from this group," he said coldly.
"Huh?" came Ezekiel's less than intelligent response.
"I didn't take you for hard of hearing, boy," Martin said calmly and coldly. "You are off this team. I don't care where you go, so long as it isn't with us," he told the boy. "Unless anyone can think of a reason to keep him on?" he asked looking at everyone and they all shook their heads.
Martin nodded his head before he glared at Ezekiel and said to him, "You have ten seconds to start running, then I'm coming after you."
"But, Chris said…" Ezekiel tried to say when Martin cut him off with, "You think I care about getting a bounty right now?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. "Unless you want to find out what dying and coming back feels like, I advise you start running. You have five seconds left."
Ezekiel then started running away as fast as his legs could carry him, a look of sheer panic on his face as he fled into the wilderness before disappearing entirely.
Martin gave a grunt of satisfaction before he continued walking along the road. Looking back at everyone, he said to them, "Well? Are you all coming or what?"
"Right behind you," Bridgette said quickly as she fell into step with the taller man.
Izzy then whispered to Courtney, "I got first dibs, just so you know!"
"What?!" Courtney asked in surprise at what Izzy had implied in those words. Izzy giggled maniacally as she ran after Martin.
"Weirdo!" Courtney muttered to herself at Izzy's antics before she quickly followed the others who were all following Martin who appeared to have become the de-facto leader. This fact did rankle Courtney a little as she felt her counsellor-in-training experience would make her the most suitable choice to be leader, but it seemed that Martin had taken the position before her. Courtney would let it slide for now, but the second she saw Martin fail at being a leader, she would easily take over the position. That said, she would admit that Martin certainly had a hot body… wait… where the heck did that come from?! Courtney shook her head to rid herself of the thought; the guy might be good looking, but she wasn't gonna let that distract her from the competition.
Annoyed with herself, Courtney followed after her team, hoping to find some shelter and perhaps some food as well.
TO BE CONTINUED…
A/N: There! First chapter of this is done and dusted! I'd been planning this crossover for a long while, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. Obviously this meant me having to watched every episode of Total Drama Island to see how Martin/Dragonborn would fit in without seeming like just another contestant that simply brought their skillset to the table and had no impact on the canon whatsoever. Adding Candice Swanepoel was my own choice because sometimes real life reality shows do bring in a Big Name celebrity into the mix to boost ratings and such, plus I'm a huge fan of Candice ^w^ It was either going to be her or a character from a different series like Saeko Busujima from Highschool of the dead, but I suppose we'll see after this chapter.
But after conferring with some friends, I decided that I could make this a crossover with Fallout 76 with Chris giving the campers the excuse of it being a virtual reality simulation with Sheogorath helping out. Not to mention what happens to some of the Total Drama characters in the series, plus some of the Fallout 76 mutations could affect some of the campers in really hilarious or disturbing ways.
Anyway, not much more to say, so I'll leave this here and please, do let me know what you think of this as a first chapter and if you have any suggestions for this story, feel free to leave them in a review or PM them to me.
Be kind to one another,
Angry lil' elf.
