A/N: A rewrite of the third and fourth quarters of the Star Wars movie of the same name with my own original characters and plot line. Enjoy.
I only own my OC's.
Obi-wan could feel himself turning slowly in circles as the blue electric bolts of the force field restrained him in suspended captivity. The sound of growling Geonosians from outside followed by the door opening got his attention and it was all he could do to look round as Count Dooku walked into his holding cell. It should go without saying that the auburn haired Jedi Master who felt anger rise up inside him at the sight of his deceased master's master and how far he had fallen.
"Traitor!" he said, with barely concealed fury as the former Jedi came to a stop. "Oh no, my friend. This is a mistake. A terrible mistake. They've gone too far. This is madness," the fallen Jedi replied, his hands out in front of him. "I thought you were the leader here, Dooku," Kenobi continued, giving the older man a hard glare. "This had nothing to do with me, I assure you," Dooku replied as he began to circle his prisoner.
"I promise you I will petition immediately to have you set free," he continued. "Well, I hope it doesn't take too long. I have work to do," was the straight, and somewhat blunt, reply. "May I ask why a Jedi Knight is all the way out here on Geonosis?" the Count continued, not looking at Obi-wan as he said this. "I've been tracking a bounty hunter named Jango Fett," the latter replied. "Do you know him?"
"There are no bounty hunters here that I'm aware of, the Geonosians don't trust them," Dooku replied as he came to a stop in front of Kenobi. "Well, who can blame them? But he is here, I can assure you," Obi-wan replied as he began to turn away. "It's a great pity that our paths have never crossed before, Obi-Wan," came the reply which echoed around the chamber. "Qui-Gon always spoke very highly of you."
A silent pause followed as Dooku gathered his thoughts. "I wish he were still alive. I could use his help right now." "Qui-Gon Jinn would never join you," Kenobi replied as he came back around to face his enemy. "Don't be so sure, my young Jedi," Dooku replied as he began to walk again. "You forget that he was once my apprentice just as you were once his. He knew all about the corruption in the Senate, but he would never have gone along with it if he had known the truth as I have."
It may have been the way the fallen Jedi had said it or it may have been the tone in his voice Obi-wan would never be sure, but something set off an alarm bell inside his head at these words. "The truth?" he asked. "The truth," Dooku said, coming to a stop and looking up at him in another bout of silence before continuing to walk and talk. "What if I told you that the Republic was now under the control of a Dark Lord of the Sith?"
"No, that's not possible. The Jedi would be aware of it," Obi-wan replied in disbelief. "The dark side of the Force has clouded their vision, my friend," was what he got in answer as Dooku stopped once again. "Hundreds of Senators are now under the influence of a Sith Lord called Darth Sidious," Dooku answered, looking up at him. "I don't believe you." Obi-wan said as he came around to face him.
"The Viceroy of the Trade Federation was once in league with this Darth Sidious," the other continued, pausing to allow his words to sink in. "But he was betrayed ten years ago by the Dark Lord. He came to me for help; he told me everything. The Jedi Council would not believe him. I tried many times to warn them as you know, but they wouldn't listen to me. Once they sense the Dark Lord's presence, it will be too late by then."
Dooku stopped and took a step forward. "You must join me, Obi-Wan, and together we will destroy the Sith." There was a pause before the Jedi Master responded without any hesitation in his voice. "I will never join you, Dooku." The white-haired man looked down at the ground for a moment before turning and walked to the door on the other side of the cell.
He stopped and looked back at Obi-wan, only his face visible as the dark clothes he wore blended in with the blackness of the passage. "It may be difficult to secure your release," the Count said before he turned and walked away leaving him alone. It should go without saying that Dooku's words were swirling round and round inside his head. A Sith Lord controlled the Republic Senate?
At any other point it would have seemed like an utterly ludicrous suggestion and Obi-wan would have dismissed it without a second thought, but given all of the events that happened in the last few years, especially his and Qui-gon's encounter with Darth Maul on Naboo following the whole escapade with the Trade Federation, which had unfortunately resulted in the death of Kenobi's master and the former's promise to train Anakin.
Furthermore, throughout the whole affair leading up to his current predicament, the attempted assassinations of Padme following her arrival on Corscant by Zam Wesell which had resulted in the pursuit of said Clawdite through the busy streets of the planet by both himself and the younger Jedi Knight only for her to killed by a saberdart, fired by the then unidentified bounty hunter Jango Fett.
As a result, he had been assigned by the council to track down the Mandalorian which had led him to the uncharted planet of Kamino and the discovery of a Clone Army being created under orders, as he was told by the Prime Minister Lama Su, from Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas whom was thought to have been killed long before then. Fett had been hired as the template for the clones which led to their first meeting as well as his son, Boba.
Kenobi had quickly decided, with little doubt, that he was the killer he had been tracking. Despite trying to capture Jango, which had led to a titanic one-on-one fight between them, the latter had made use of his blasters and missile equipment, managing to defeat the Jedi Master by destroying the platform they were battling on, sending him plummeting into the raging sea below before making his departure.
Luckily, or rather unluckily now given his current state of imprisonment, he had managed to place a tracking device on their ship, the Slave I, and had followed them to Geonosis where he had overheared a meeting between Dooku and the leaders of the commerce guilds, and learnt that they were behind the separatist movement and had built up a new droid army similar to the one the Gungans had faced on Naboo.
He had also learned that it was Nute Gunray who had ordered Padme to be killed in retaliation for said affair. Kenobi had attempted to transmit his findings to the Jedi Council, relayed by way of Anakin and Padme's ship, but he had been found and captured by droidekas before he could finish his report. His main hope was that a rescue party were en route to the planet (he was right in this assumption), but was unaware that both knight and senator had already been captured.
Kenobi's thoughts were suddenly interrupted when a strange sound from outside the chamber reached his ears. The sound of a jetpack; and there was only one person on the planet of Geonosis who had one. Perhaps Jango Fett had come to mock him about the foolishness of a Jedi sticking his nose where it didn't belong. This train of thought, however, changed when the sound again reached his ears.
A second jetpack.
Now Obi-wan was very confused. He knew, of course, that the bounty hunter had come here with his son, but he didn't have his own set of armour. Well, not as far as he knew so that only left one other possibility. There was a second Mandalorian who, for reasons only known to whoever they were, Jango and Dooku, was present for the formation of the Droid Army.
But then there came a series of sounds that turned his thoughts into quite another channel. First he heard a loud amount of growls and grunts coming from the guards outside which were evidently questions which meant that they were not expecting the new arrivals and were asking why they were there. Next he heard what was obviously Jango responding, but it was difficult for him to make out what was being said.
The growls of the Geonosians became louder and more guttural as they were clearly not satisfied with the response they got and were no doubt asking Fett why he had come and what he was doing with whoever was with him. Silence followed for a few moments before being broken by several loud whizzing sounds as multiple blasters were fired in quick succession of their being drawn.
Loud panicked cries and pain-filled screeches came from the guards and those around them as their assailants made quick work of them. For a few moments there was what sounded like complete pandemonium from outside before an eerie silence fell. Needless to say, Kenobi strained his ears to try and catch the faintest sound, but nothing came until he heard what could best be described as Jango and his companion talking, their conversation muffled by both the walls and their helmets.
Next moment the door to the Jedi Master's cell shot open and he watched as a very familiar bounty hunter in chrome silver and wollen blue Mandalorian beskar armour walked rapidly inside while the shadow of another figure could be seen in the doorway as could the bodies of more than a few Geonosians. "Well, you're the last person in the galaxy I ever expected to come to my rescue," Obi-wan said as Jango Fett began working over the control panel.
Said bounty hunter spoke without turning. "I'm not doing this for you Jedi," he growled back as he fiddled with the console. "I'm only doing this because the kid out there would never let me hear the end of it." The last part of that sentence stuck with Kenobi whilst he continued to spin around in a circle. "I heard that!" came a sharp voice followed by the sound of footsteps and a second, yet smaller figure, also clad in Mandalorian armour, strode into the cell.
His fiery orange and black armour was in stark contrast to that of his elder and there were two trigangular shaped crests on the front of his helmet that reminded the Jedi Master of the ears belonging to canines. Unlike Jango he had a short cloak attached to his utility belt that reached to an inch or so below his knees and a holster could be seen attached to his upper right-hand thigh that was clearly home to the Westar 34 Blaster Pistol he was holding in his right hand.
On his back was a black and dark free speech red JT-12 Jetpack while a Vibrosword could be seen in a scabbard on his back while a handle for something was visible sticking out from behind his jetpack. "And if I recall correctly, this kid is the one who pulled your sorry backside out of that mess on Ord Mantell and let's not forget that whole affair with that Devaronian gang who double crossed us back on Nar Shaddaa remember?"
Jango turned away from the console to glare at his younger compatriot. "If all your gonna do is gripe about our past mistakes, Skoran," he shot back, "I can take you straight back to your own lovely cell and lock back in again so that you can stay there and think of all the good times we had whilst thinking of a better escape plan though I doubt another opportunity will arise."
Before Skoran, which was clearly the boy's name, could reply, Obi-wan cleared his throat and they both looked up at him. "As interesting, and slightly amusing, as it is to watch the two of you both bicker amongst yourselves, might I remind the pair of you that we are running on borrowed time." The two armoured figures looked at each other before the younger of them raised his blaster and fired two shots, in rapid succession, at the glowing orbs both above and below the Jedi Master.
The glass surrounding the lights within them shattered upon impact and they flickered rapidly before they dimmed and finally darkened as the restraints holding Kenobi in place disappeared and he dropped onto the one below him before jumping down onto the floor and straightened up while nodding in thanks to Skoran. "Now then, I suggest that we find our way out of here and off this wretched planet before they reorganise," the boy said.
"No arguments from me," Obi-wan replied in agreement. "I was already on those bugs hit list after rescuing you, kid," added Jango as they made for the entrance of the chamber. "Might as well add more of them to the already growing list of targets painted on me and-" He and the other two stopped in their tracks as the moment they exited the holding cell they found an immense number of Geonosians covering them from every angle with both spears and blasters.
It should go without saying that Kenobi's two companions knew that either one of two things happened. Whether the older had been spotted going to Skoran's cell and his intentions marked by Dooku or someone had missed the sentries that he had taken out in order to free his companion. Either way, there was nothing the trio could do but surrender. When the leader of the Separatists himself stepped forth from the ranks of their captors did they see that their first assumption was correct.
A cold, malignant smile of triumph appeared on the former Jedi's face while his eyes gleamed with victory. "I knew that you were sprightly Jango - very sprightly," he said in a smooth tone that complimented the look on his face. "But for all your virtues I knew that you are still a bounty hunter, you would only stay as long as you are paid what you are owed, and you would be unable to resist going to rescue your friend." "Let the kid go, Dooku, he has nothing to do with this," Fett replied firmly.
Dooku chuckled. "You evidently do not realise that I know just what your young companion is capable of," said he. From the way that the Mandalorian clenched his left hand into a fist Obi-wan could see clearly that he did. "What harm could he possibly bring to you?" Fett asked. "Enough to ruin my, or rather, my master's plans, for this galaxy," the count replied. "By that you mean destroying the Republic and making it into a pyramid with your handler on top," Skoran shot back snidely.
The much older man frowned slightly. "Your impudent attitude will be your downfall... Flanverson," he replied and Kenobi saw the boy start at this. "Oh yes, I know well enough of your exploits, and of those that you seek and what they have done to you. Revenge is a decidedly unpleasant matter," Dooku continued before stretching out his hand. "But it does bring people together as allies, so therefore I recommend that-"
If it wasn't for his trained eye, and being used to lightning fast reflexes, Obi-wan might have missed what happened next. In an instant both man and boy, who were still holding their blasters, which they had lowered when they saw that they were outnumbered, whisked them up and each fired a single shot straight at the Sith Lord in front of them. Luck was not on their side as Dooku, no doubt anticipating such an action, easily dodged the oncoming blaster bolts.
In an instant the Geonosians leaped upon them. All three gave a valiant, but inevitably futile struggle before they were restrained with their arms binded. "Jango, Jango," he said, as said bounty hunter and Skoran had their blasters wrestled from their hands. "I expected you to do something original. This has been done so often, and what good has ever come from it? I assure you that I, and my confederates, are armed to the teeth, and we are perfectly prepared to use them."
"Well, you've got our answer anyhow," the orange and black armoured figure retorted as his wrists were being tied together, "if you think we're going to join you, then you've got a brain like a Bantha." "Couldn't have put it better myself kid," added Fett who, along with Kenobi, was being put through a similar procedure. "Your insults are a trivial hampering considering what your fate will be," Dooku replied before he waved a hand at the Geonosians holding them. "Take them away," he ordered.
The trio could do nothing as they were hauled off by their captors. "Well, this is just kriffing great," Jango muttered as they were marched along. "Personally, I think you should be more concerned about your son," Skoran said. "He's got a good head on his shoulders, but I'm afraid he might not have it on them for too long if Dooku gets his hands on him." "He's smart, he'll keep out of trouble," the bounty hunter replied as they continued on. "I hope."
Some time later...
In the gloomy tunnel leading out to the Petranaki Arena of Justice, Anakin and Padme were roughly tossed into an open cart. The murmur of a vast crowd could easily be heard from the vast area outside. They could do nothing as the guards extended their arms along the framework and tied them to rings on the inside of the railings so that they now stood facing away from each other whilst the driver checked over his mount.
Knowing that they were facing what could very well be their end, unless a miracle happened and that was extremely unlikely at this point, the former turned towards the latter, who also did the same, and spoke. "Don't be afraid," he said, in an attempt to provide some way to keep their spirits up. "I'm not afraid to die," Padme replied quietly and a moment of silence passed between them before she continued.
"I've been dying a little bit each day since you came back into my life." Anakin did his best to keep his facial expression neutral. "What are you talking about?" the Jedi Knight asked though he had a feeling he already knew what the answer would be. "I love you," the Nabooian senator replied. A look of what can best be described as incredulousness mixed with confusion came over Skywalker's face.
Anakin looked at her for a moment or two before replying. "You love me?" he said. Another moment of silence passed before he sighed and looked down at the floor of the cart before replying. "I thought we decided not to fall in love." He looked back up at her as he went on. "That we would be forced to live a lie and that it would destroy our lives." "I think our lives are about to be destroyed anyway," Padme replied, reminding him of their situation.
"My love for you is a puzzle, Annie, for which I have no answers. I can't control it... and now I don't care," she continued. "I truly, deeply love you." As she said these words the two began to lean in towards each other. "And before we die I want you to know." By slightly straining themselves against their bonds, it was possible for their lips to meet in the center and share a kiss that held nothing, but their feelings for each other.
They were still doing this as the driver climbed into the seat in front of them and let out a cry that was clearly an order for the Orray harnessed between the shafts to move forward. Anakin and Padme slowly, reluctantly, pulled away from each other as, with a slew of cries from all around them, and blinding sunlight, they emerged into the arena the tiers of which were packed with row upon row of yelling, crying and howling Geonosians.
All of them watched as the cart slowly made its to the center of the arena, where Obi-wan, Jango and Skoran, the latter two missing nearly all of their hand held weapons and jetpacks stood chained to three of six upright posts that were, at an estimate, twenty feet in height and three feet in diameter. The trio watched as the cart went past with the two Jedi exchanging a glance while Padme kept her gaze ahead.
The cart stopped close by and the pair were taken down from it by a guard each and marched over to the posts. Nobody, except for Flanverson, noticed their only female companion pull a wire from her belt and place it in her mouth as she turned her back and her arms were raised above her head. Anakin and Kenobi shared another glance as the former walked over towards the post between the latter and Fett.
"I was beginning to wonder if you had gotten my message," Obi-wan said blandly. "I retransmitted it as you requested, Master," Skywalker replied with a hint of sarcasm as the guard escorting him attached his manacles to the chains on the post. "Then we decided to come and rescue you," he continued. Kenobi glanced up at his bound hands before replying. "Good job!" It was clear he was referring to how his former padawan and Padme had gotten captured so recklessly.
As the cart drove away Anakin's arms were pulled high above his head by one of the guards who attached the chain to one of the rings at the top of the post. There came another combined roar from the crowd as Poggle the Lesser, waving his hand at his people, Count Dooku, Viceroy Nute Gunray, and other dignitaries belonging to the Trade Federation arrived in the archducal box high above the arena and took their places while drums began to beat.
He let out a loud whirring growl followed by a few clicks, which was clearly a call for silence as the crowd and drums abated in their noisemaking. Silence followed for an instant before Poggle raised his hand once again and let out a whirring growl once again mixed with clicking and the crowd went wild with loud screams. It didn't take a translator for those chained up to know what the archduke had said; "Let the executions begin!"
Once again the drums started up as different gates around the arena began to open and from them three creatures began to emerge. The first one was a Reek, a large, muscular quadruped native to the planet Ylesia and the Codian Moon. They were powerful and territorial mammals with a single central horn atop their head and a cheek horn on either side. This one in particular was equipped with a nose ring in order to make it easier to corral by its handlers.
Second came an Acklay, a non-sentient mix of a crustacean and a reptile with amphibious traits that allowed it to inhabit the water and land of its homeworld of Vendaxa. The gigantic creature was protected by a hard, shell-like carapace of bony nodules. They walked on six hardened, skin-covered claws, and hands for grappling prey. Its mouth was filled with razor-sharp teeth, and used an organ beneath its chin to sense body electricity given off by its prey.
Third was a Nexu, a predatory feline creature native to the planet Cholganna with four red eyes and a defensive mane of sharp quills. Their four eyes gave them excellent vision, with the second pair allowing them to track prey by its body heat using infrared vision. The nexu was 4.51 meters long and typically 0.94 meters tall and possessed sharp teeth and long claws, perfect for climbing trees. Their double tails were forked and whip-like.
Finally, from a fourth gate came a large, blood red Gundark with a jet black mane and fur on its arms. They were known to be vicious carnivorous desert mammals from the planet Vanqor. Renowned for their power and ferocity, the large creature had sixteen claws and keen hearing. It was also common in the galaxy to tell someone that they "looked strong enough to pull the ears off a gundark" which meant that they were healthy and strong.
As the Reek came out into the sunlight it let out a loud guttural roar that only made the crowd cheer more and more. The Acklay emerged from its tunnel into the arena by walking sideways, much like that of a crab, where it was promptly poked by one of the picadors, causing it to roar at him and make his mount jump back, but it still made its way forward nonetheless. The Nexu's opening act was far more imposing.
Letting out a roar as it leapt into the arena the picador closest to it moved his mount closer in order to poke the creature with the prod he was holding and shock it. In response, the creature let out growl followed by a short, yet harsh shriek as it jumped at the rider and yanked off of the Orray by his left shoulder, all the while letting out screams of agony as the Nexu's teeth crunched through his neck.
As it pulled the body of its unintended first victim away, two more Geonosians, also armed with electrical shock prods, jumped down from the walkway above. "I've got a bad feeling about this," muttered Anakin, who was watching the whole scene with a sinking sensation in his stomach. "Gee, I wonder why?" Jango replied sarcastically whilst rolling his eyes underneath his helmet.
Unbeknownst to the others, Padme had taken the small piece of wire out of her mouth and was currently using it to pick the lock on her cuffs while Skoran reached up and, grabbing hold of the chain with his hands and pushing his feet against the post, began to slowly, but surely, climb up it. A horn sounded from somewhere above them as one of the two picadors who had entered the arena jumped onto the Orray and flicked its reins in order to bring it into a canter.
The Gundark let out a loud howl before it was forced forwards by a fourth rider, but gave no resistance except growling loudly when struck the prod the Geonosian carried. Both the Reek and Acklay were already in line with each other, with the new rider driving the Nexu of the now dead previous rider with a shock of electricity and forced it into line with the creature letting out a low growl as it was forced away from its meal.
Likewise, the Gundark was also being corralled into formation alongside its fellow beasts. Up in the box, Dooku stepped forward to get a better look at the events while Poggle raised his hand and simply basked in the adoration from the crowd. The quartet tossed their heads, looking around at each other, roaring or screeching as they were moved forwards by the picadors prodding them every so often with their shock prods, mainly the Acklay and the Nexu.
Now Kenobi wasn't normally one to feel the cold icy fingers of doom, but as all four of the creatures caught sight of the three captives they slowly started moving toward them with slightly more vigour in their steps. In particular the Acklay was being driven towards him, probably on Dooku's request though he would probably never know, with it being shocked by the picador behind it once again in one of its hind legs.
This time it turned around and screeched right in the faces of both mount and rider, but getting no reaction it focused its attention back on the Jedi Master secured to the post in front of it. Anakin too was watching with a somewhat nervous expression on his face as the four creatures began to get even closer. Even Jango seemed to share this though it was difficult to tell due to his helmet.
Meanwhile, Padme had finally picked through the lock for the right side of her manacles and freed her right hand while Skoran had reached the top of his post and was doing his best to get his helmet off. "Just relax. Concentrate," Obi-wan told his former padawan as the creatures got closer. "Easy for you to say," Fett replied. "What about Padme?" Skywalker asked while not noticing his fifteen minute old girlfriend was now pulling herself up by the chain holding her in place.
"She seems to be on top of things," was the reply he got from Kenobi who had turned his attention back to their oncoming foes. Anakin glanced round in time to see that the senator from Naboo had reached the top of the post. Beside her, Skoran had done likewise and was now removing his helmet. "Not that I'm impressed by your climbing skills or anything kid, but do you have a motive behind what you're doing?" Jango asked, glancing up at his younger companion.
"Of course I do!" the boy yelled back as he finally raised his helmet high enough which allowed the others to properly see his face for the first time. Padme was the closest and she halted in efforts of trying to pull the chain free when her eyes spotted him. The boy was, if she had to guess, around fifteen years of age, or more, with light-colored skin and short reddish auburn hair that was somewhat scraggly and unkempt.
But what got her attention more than anything else was this. His left eye was covered by a black eyepatch while the other, hazel brown in colour, seemed to hold the life of two in it. Another shock occurred when something fell out of the helmet. A lightsaber handle that looked near enough exactly like Obi-wan's, even down to the notched hand grip and the red activator button.
Before they could do anything else, a loud growling screech came from the Acklay, which had reached said Jedi Master, and had drawn back its left spear claw and was poised to strike. Kenobi dodged to the side just in time to avoid the swing which missed him by mere millimeters. His attacker let out a growl of frustration before it brought its right claw up to repeat the move once again.
Moving quickly, he twirled to the side just as it did so as with a loud snap his chain broke from the blow which left a hole in the post. Letting out a screech, the Acklay followed after Obi-wan who stopped his side slip before darting to his left to avoid another strike, getting another screech of frustration followed by another strike. While this was happening, the Reek gathered itself to charge and it only took another stab from the rider next to it to send the creature charging forwards with a roar.
Straight at Anakin.
Reacting both quickly and decisively, he jumped up into the air while the beast hit the post hard. Twirling in mid air, Anakin landed on its back, wrapping part of his chain around its horn as he did so. The Reek backed off, shaking its head angrily to try and dislodge its unwanted rider, but only succeeded in tearing the chain from the post while the crowd cheered at the spectacle they were witnessing while in the archducal box, its occupiers continued to watch in silence.
The Nexu was next to attack, with a loud roar it leapt onto the post Padme was on and, digging its claws in, scrambled up it like a monkey. As it got to the top, she swung the chain around her head and hit the creature in the face causing it to back off down the pole. Growling in frustration the cat-like creature leapt up at her once again and took a swipe at the young woman. She turned to avoid it only for the claws on its left paw to tear off a fair sized strip of it leaving her midriff exposed.
It also left superficial claw marks across her back making her scream out in pain before sliding back down the post and jumping back down to the ground, roaring once again whilst preparing to jump up and finish off its prey. Up in the box, Nute Gunray beamed and clenched his hands in victory whilst letting out a short laugh at the same time and sharing a smug look with one of the other Federation officials.
Throughout the other fours ordeals, Jango was busy dodging the strikes of the Gundark and had cut it close on multiple occasions. "Anytime today, kid!" he called up to Skoran who had replaced his helmet and was holding the lightsaber handle in his right hand. "Keep your hair on!" he snapped as the blade activated with a whizz and a fiery orange blade extended into being and on full view for all to see.
Several cries of shock rang out through the crowd while, up in the archducal box, Dooku did his best to keep his composure at the sight while inwardly he was both amazed and curious at how someone whom he had thought to be a simple bounty hunter's apprentice/child was holding onto a weapon only found on either a Jedi or Sith. Furthermore, orange was not a common colour either and was one of the more rarer sights in a lightsaber.
Holding the blade before him the one-eyed boy sliced through the joint closest to his left hand and freed it. He flexed his gloved fingers and shook his hand at the wrist to release any potential strain before slashing at the other joint near his right hand and the cuffs fell between his legs, taking the chain, which was still attached, with them. Not skipping a beat he grabbed hold of the chain and jumped off of the post and swung straight towards the Mandalorian.
Letting go at the right moment Skoran, clenching the blade in both hands, brought the blade slashing down on the creature's head, slicing off its left ear right down at the bottom. It left out a howl of pain and reeled back whilst clutching at the wound. Twirling the saber with expert swordsmanship he turned to face Jango and cut through the man's cuffs in a similar way as to how he had freed himself.
Rubbing his right wrist with his left hand the older man glared at his younger friend from behind his helmet. "Geez, kid, did you have to cut it that close?" he asked with a hint of indignation. The boy snorted in contempt. "Like you're any better, or are you forgetting that time on-" A growl from beside them brought them back to reality and they jumped back just in time to avoid the Gundark, which had recovered, as it lunged at them only to collide head first with the post instead.
"You help Padme! I'll get Obi-wan!" Skoran said turning his attention the Jedi Master who was rolling across the ground this way and that in front of the post he had been chained too as he continued dodging strikes from the Acklay that were coming at from seemingly every direction with the creature itself letting a constant stream of screeching roars whilst Poggle watched the display with growing apprehension
Meanwhile, Anakin was still riding the Reek which was charging around the arena with the Jedi Knight hanging on for dear life with the chain still wrapped around its horn. Two of the picadors had caught up with him and they were either waiting for the chance to dislodge him from the creature or kill him themselves. Their efforts only served to further irritate the horned mammal.
Suddenly the young Jedi leaned too far over to the left and fell off the animal before he found himself being dragged along, letting out a yell as he did so. Back at the posts, Padme stood up, gathering the lengths of her chain as the Nexu climbed up towards her with a murderous glint in its eyes. Without hesitation, she jumped off the post and into the air and swung round on the chain and whacked the beast hard in the center of its chest with both her feet.
Losing its grip the feline tumbled off the post and back onto the sandy ground below where it lay still. It should go without saying that, up in the archducal box, Nute Gunray was fuming with rage. "Foul!" he shouted whilst sharing a similar look with one of his fellow officials. "She can't do that! Shoot her... or something!" As Padme climbed back up the pole, the Nexu, despite taking a bad fall, quickly recovered and began to stalk around the bottom of the post once again.
This, however, meant that while its eyes were on its intended target, it was blind to all else that moved. Just as it turned back and looked like it was going to try and climb the post again there came a loud whizzing sound before a shining wire tipped with a grappling hook rapidly wrapped itself around the creature's neck as Jango Fett tackled it to the ground once again and drove his elbow into its neck eliciting a roar of pain from the Nexu.
Back with Obi-wan, the Jedi Master had ducked around the post as the Acklay charged straight at him. It slammed into the post, cracking it in two places; breaking it into three separate pieces before it fell flat, forcing Kenobi onto his back from the shockwave from the two pieces that hit the ground took him off balance. He glanced up at his attack as the Acklay let out a screech before it bore down on him once again.
Not waiting to see what it would do next, Obi-wan scrambled to his feet while the creature climbed over the pieces and took off after him. Skoran would have gladly helped him as he said that he was going to were it not for the fact that the Gundark had recovered from the pain of its earlier injury and had cornered him between the post that Jango had been chained to and the one Anakin had placed against.
Speaking of the Jedi Knight, he was still being dragged along the ground by the Reek which had now done a small circle around the arena with the two picadors who were now riding alongside, but still behind it on their Orrays. Thankfully, and no doubt beginning to tire from its exertions, the horned mammal slowed to a stop while one of the riders charged straight at Kenobi and thrust his spear at him.
Moving quickly, Kenobi grabbed the picador's long weapon and with a seemingly effortless heave reverse pole vaulted the rider over him and sent him tumbling onto the sand, dazed and confused. Back with the Reek, it let out a growl as it finally rid itself of the chain around its horn, which was no doubt why it had stopped in response to some more rational part of its primitive mind telling it to properly figure out its situation.
While it was doing this however, Anakin, with his left hand raised in front of him and the other, still held in the manacle, holding onto the chain. Back at the posts, Jango was still wrestling with the Nexu and was doing his best to keep it focused on him. His grappling line was still wrapped tightly around its neck and the creature was struggling furiously to shake off the bounty hunter.
