Sadie's POV
It was supposed to be a chance at finding my Uncle Amos. Instead, I met some demigods, and discovered a secret organization. My name is Sadie Kane. Eye of Isis, and tied with my brother for second most powerful magician in the world. Allow me to explain what's going on: my uncle committed murder about a month ago, and no one can find him. The victim was a man who apparently worked with our grandfather, whose name was apparently Abraham Kane. Not related to Abraham Lincoln btw. Carter saw the man trying to stab a young woman, so he ruled it as defense. We wanted to welcome him back, but we cannot find him anywhere.
Right now, the only thing we had that had any way of giving us any leads was a board game we found in his closet. It was called Sea of Senet. Apparently, he invented the game when he was younger for reasons. It was fun to play, but I figured maybe we could find whoever else he played the game with.
So I was following a lead to one of them in Manhattan. The woman had apparently been seen on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. As I went, I bonked into a boy.
"Ow! Watch where you're going," I said in a highly annoyed tone.
"Sorry, just trying to get home." The boy said.
He picked something off the ground before helping me up.
"Thank you. Who are you?" I asked.
"Will Solace. You?" Will answered.
This boy gave me serious surfer vibes. Blue eyes, freckles, and a sweet smile. His blonde hair and flannel shirt didn't help.
"Sadie Kane. Now I need to get going, if I'm ever going to see my uncle again, I need to follow this lead."
"What happened to your uncle?"
"Vanished. Only lead I have is some friends he played a game he invented with. It's called Sea of Senet."
"Did you say, Sea of Senet?"
I raised an eyebrow.
"You play?"
"No, but I've seen Chiron play. He's good."
"Wait, any chance you know an Annabeth Chase?"
Will's eyes got round.
"How do you know her?"
"She helped me stop an evil ghost from becoming a god." I answered.
"Why am I not surprised. Who's kid are you?"
"Actually, I'm on the Egyptian side of things. How about you help me follow the only lead I have, and in exchange, I tell you about what happened several months ago, fair deal?"
"Fair deal."
We shook hands. Then we went to the Upper East Side.
I explained everything, and he showed me a secret street. He explained it was a pocket that allows demigods to be in the mortal world, without monster attacks occurring. I smiled. That was rather genius. Will and I found a milkshake axe throwing bar with the game. Where the woman I was looking for was playing a round of it.
She looked like the woman that my uncle's diary described; reddish black hair, grey eyes, and Argentinean skin. A smile floated across her face, and I watched curiously. She seemed to be a pro, which wasn't a surprise, given that she probably played with the person who created the game.
I got her attention once she was done.
"Are you Carmen Sandiego?" I asked. "Former girlfriend of Amos Kane?"
The woman got a look on her face.
"Who's asking?" The woman asked.
"His niece, Sadie Kane." I answered.
She smiled softly. I could easily see why my uncle loved her; she was kind hearted, and I could tell she was gentle.
"What do you need?"
"My uncle's location. I can't find him anywhere."
"I know where he is. He did ask me if I wanted to get lunch with him at some point."
She then took me by the arm.
"Come with me."
She took us to the back, and typed something into the keypad.
"It's a verbally fastened door. Three phrases to open, and get one wrong, and your fingers won't be able to type on it ever again." Carmen explained.
We went once she was done. Will tagged along at my insistence.
We went into a secret room. It was filled with scrolls, and the same board game from earlier.
"Welcome to a base for The Secret Society of the Tide." Carmen said.
"What's that?" Will asked.
"A group of people who are from the pantheons based around the Mediterranean Sea, and who's pantheons have had problems with each other."
"Wait, my uncle was a member?" I asked.
"Of course. He was the one to suggest the name, as the tides are something we all are connected by. Most recent communication from him was him asking us to keep an eye on you children."
"Why am I not surprised anymore?" I asked sarcastically.
"Your uncle is in a demigod town over in Hawaii."
"Finally! But where exactly?"
"That I don't know, but I'll tell you later after the lunch date, fair enough?" She said, handing me something. It was a tile, with the Maw symbol. And my initials, S and K.
"Once I find him, come back here and I'll tell you via the code that we used whenever magicians watched us."
"But, I don't know it."
"Lucky for you, you can take this scroll. It has all the codes you need to know."
"All right, but one last question before I leave, why so secretive?"
"So that the gods cant break this up. Better to remain in contact with those who may know extra advantages in battle that just act like we never knew about them."
I smiled. That was a good reason.
Will went back to his home, and I relayed what I knew to my dear brother. He was hyped now that we had a lead.
Meanwhile, I went and crashed. Today had been exhausting.
