Popov was going to be having a dancing competition with his class. Each princess had to pick a prince to be their dance partner. Everyone was very excited for the dance.
"This will be so fun!" Clio said with enthusiasm.
"Fun?" Hildegard questioned, "Maybe, but also very stressful. I know all of the princes will want to dance with me. Picking out a Prince that's good enough will be hard..."
"So, who are you planning on picking as your dance partner, Amber?" Clio asked Amber.
"Oh, well that's easy, I'll just get Desmond to dance with me." Amber was sure Desmond would be there to help her out like he always did.
"Desmond?" Hildegard said in a doubtful tone "Good luck with that, the boy probably doesn't know the first thing about dancing, all he knows about are books!"
Amber just shrugged that off, she knew Desmond would be a perfect dance partner. He ALWAYS paid attention during class, so clearly he had to know the most in dance class.
Amber left class and caught up to him right before he left school. "Desmond, could you do me a favor?" Amber asked with a smile.
Desmond was so happy inside, he always loved when Amber asked him for favors, even if they weren't always the easiest. "Sure Amber, what do you need help with?"
Amber then explained to him how she needed a dance partner for a school dance competition.
"Oh dance, umm sure! I'd love to do that." Desmond sounded happy but was secretly very concerned and he wasn't sure if he'd have the confidence to dance in front of an audience. On top of that, he'd be dancing with Amber, something that would only be adding to the butterflies in his stomach.
"Well Desmond, we have two days to practice the dance, will you be available to practice after school tomorrow?" Amber asked, as Desmond confirmed he'd be able to do it.
"Thanks a lot, Desmond. I'm happy you'll do that for me!" Amber told him.
"No problem, Amber; I'm happy to help," Desmond replied, however he still worried about the day of the competition.
Two days later, and it was the day of the competition. Desmond had dressed up with the outfit Amber had suggested he should wear. When it came to clothes Amber always knew what was the best thing to wear. In this case, she had decided he should wear a vest, it would apparently look perfect for the dance, and increase their chances of winning. Desmond wondered, however, what Amber would be wearing. She'd be arriving soon, he just hoped he wouldn't let her down.
"Desmond, great you used the vest!" Desmond turned around to Amber's voice, seeing her approaching.
Once he saw her he immediately began getting butterflies and his stomach and began blushing. "Yes, I.. I did. I wore the vest." Desmond answered, trying not to stumble over his words. He still couldn't get over how amazing and stunning she looked in her dress.
Eventually, their turn came to do their dance. They held hands together, and then the music started, next their dancing started. At first Desmond was nervous, but eventually he almost forgot how scared he had been. He felt accomplished, he had actually done this. After their dance the audience applauded, Amber curtseyed, and Desmond gave a bow. He had done it, he had danced in public and not only that, but he had danced with Amber!
"I'm sure we'll win now Desmond!" Amber exclaimed, as she gave Desmond a hug, as he hugged her back.
He just hoped his blushing wouldn't be too obvious to anyone. "Yes, we.. we might win!" Desmond agreed.
"Oh, you're too modest!" Amber said with a laugh.
The End.
