Across the galaxy
Tony Stark and Nebula are on board the Benatar, which is floating through space. Their oxygen is slowly running out and the ship's life support systems will soon be lost.
The two were currently occupying their time with a game of paper football. Nebula flicked it it Tony's direction in frustration.
"You don't need to do that." Tony commented. "Because, uh you're just holding position."
She flicked the paper football at him.
"Oh yeah, that was close." He admitted. Nebula once again flicked a paper football at Tony. "That's a goal. Now we're tied one a piece."
"I would like to try again." She said back in a dry tone, flicking another paper football towards Tony.
"We tied up. Feel the tension? It's fun." He questioned the woman. Then a poor attempt on his part was made to flick a paper football.
"Well, that was awful." Tony said to himself. "You have a chance to win."
Shortly after saying that, the paper football passed through Tony's hands.
"And...you won. Nice job." Tony congratulated Nebula for her victory, then held his hand out.
"Fair game. Good sport." He shook Nebula's hand. "Have fun?"
Nebula studied his hand, confused. Then finally, she shakes it.
"It was fun." Nebula muttered.
After the paper football game, Tony records what might be his final message through his broken helmet.
"This thing on?" The helmet scans Tony. Tony leans against the wall while taking deep breaths. He looks skinnier and weak with malnutrition. "Hey, Miss Potts... Pep. If you find this recording, don't post it on social media. It's gonna be a real tear-jerker. I don't know if you're ever going to see these. I don't even know if you're... if you're still... Oh god, I hope so. Today is day 21, uh 22." Tony stood at a window, looking out into space. "You know, if it wasn't for the existential terror of staring into a void of space, I'd say I'm feeling better today. The infection's run its course, thanks to the blue meanie back there." Nebula was sitting down in the back of the Benatar. "You'd love her. Very practical. Only a tiny bit sadistic. Some fuel cells were cracked during battle, but we figured out a way to reverse the ion charge to buy ourselves about 48 hours of time." Tony and Nebula work on replacing the fuel cells in the ship. "But it's now dead in the water. We're 1000 light years from the nearest 7-11. Oxygen will run out tomorrow. And that'll be it. And Pep, I ... I know I said no more surprises, but I was really hoping to pull off one last one. But it looks like... well you know what it looks like. Don't feel bad about this. I mean, if you grovel for a couple of weeks, and then move on with enormous guilt. I should probably lie down. Please know that... when I drift off, I will think about you. Because it's always you."
With that, Tony turns the helmet off. He rubs his thumb over the left eye, and then leans down, to what would be his last sleep. Nebula walks over to him, and carries him to Drax's seat, and lays him there. She walks away dejected, giving him some privacy.
A vast bluish nebula illuminates the space surrounding them. Then, Tony's sleep is disturbed by a bright glow and someone tapping on the glass.
"Hey Stark, wake up." Hovering outside the Benatar is someone in a red and blue uniform with a yellow S in the middle Iron Man knows all too well.
"Ugh." Tony groaned. "What are you doing here, Superman?"
But he wasn't alone. A blond-haired woman and three other figures also hovered outside the ship. The other four were revealed to be Captain Marvel and the Digimon Tamers in their biomerged forms, Gallantmon, MegaGargomon and Sakuyamon.
Behind the five was a red and white armored dragon Digimon known as ShineGreymon.
