The Kalos region, like all other regions is a place that demonstrates the feelings and bonds between people and Pokemon. When people smile, you see Pokemon smiling along with you and when Pokemon cry, you'll find yourself crying along with them. In the southeastern part of Kalos, in the town of Vanville, a young woman was currently asleep, unknowingly things were about to change.

A small bird Pokemon with grayish-purple feathers flies into a white house with a orangish-red roof on top. It flies to an open window that leads to a kitchen. Inside was a woman in her early thirties with dark brown hair and blue. She wore a black T-shirt, above that was a tracksuit with a shirt tied around her waist. She was busy making breakfast for the day when she spoke to the little bird Pokemon.

"Fletchling wake Serena up for me, would you?" Grace asked.

Fletchling tilted it's head sideways, knowing where this was going to lead. Several other of Grace's Pokemon joined Fletchling, they were a Klefki, Skiddo and Gogoat.

"Of course I already tried once, but as usual once is never enough." The woman said as she set a stack of pancakes down on the table. Fletchling understood and flew into his trainer's daughter's room. Fletchling understood this all too well. It's bad enough that his trainer's daughter sleeps late at night but she tries to make the days shorter by sleeping in. Fletchling then approached the slightly open door and squeezed himself inside. The room was all pink with plush dolls all over the room. Fletchling then flew over and landed right in front of the girl's face. It's beak then glowed white, and it raised it's head up high then came down with great force.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The girl screamed out loud, which was loud enough to make her fall out of bed.

Fletchling then picked up one of the plush dolls and dropped it on the girl's head.

"GRRRR I told you a million times not to wake me up like that!" The girl yelled. Fletchling then tilted it's head sideways, pretending to be clueless about the whole thing. The girl then lunged towards the bird Pokemon, trying to catch it but failed when it flew overhead. It then landed on her head and the girl heard her mother calling for her.

"Serena, breakfast is ready." The woman said, calling from the kitchen. Serena didn't respond, instead she went to her closet and looked for some sweatpants to wear.

"Serena come on, your breakfast is getting cold." Grace said while getting a stack of pancakes ready.

"Coming."

Serena was a normal sixteen year old girl who had no interest in adventuring. Like her mother she had blue eyes and honey-colored hair that went down to her waist. Even though she was sixteen, she had no interest in traveling when she turned ten. She had been closed off from it ever since she was a young girl. She could remember how much trouble so she was a outcast, even today. But there was one day she remembered very well. Afterwards she felt even more closed off.

Serena then headed downstairs to the kitchen and sat down at the table.

"Here you go dear." Her mother said while handing a plate of bacon and eggs. On another plate was a three stack pancake platter on the table. Serena then started eating with her mother sitting across the table. After a few minutes, her mother spoke up.

"Hurry and finish, you have Rhyhorn Race practice after breakfast." Grace said while taking a harness out of the closet.

"Do I have to?! You know I don't enjoy being thrown around and bucked off every time I get on Rhyhorn!" Serena complained.

"Yes you must, practice makes perfect if you want to be a great Rhyhorn Racer like me, now go get changed and meet me out front." Grace said with a stern voice, she knew how her daughter would react.

"Okay, fine." Serena then went back to her room and changed into a pink tracksuit with hearts on the waist. Serena always felt agitated around this time of day. Her mother was a professional Rhyhorn Racer back in the day, now retired and she wishes for her daughter to follow in her footsteps, much to her daughter's dismay.

Serena then headed outside to find her mother and Rhyhorn all ready. They head off to a open field that was perfect for practice.

"Okay Serena, now remember be one with Rhyhorn." Grace said, trying to motivate her daughter.

"Righhht." Serena said tirelessly. She knew she couldn't win against her mother.

"Uh Not Again." She moaned as she mounted Rhyhorn all the while reminiscing a little about the past.

As Ash and Andrew were on their way to Kalos, Drake headed over to Fuchsia City to pay a visit to an old friend. After a short walk, Drake entered the Fuchsia City Gym.

"Hey Koga, I know you're in here!" Drake called out. Suddenly the elderly ninja appeared right in front of him.

"Hello, Drake. What brings you here?" Koga asked the champion.

"Thought I'd check in and see how you were doing." Drake replied. "After all, it's been a while since I last saw you."

Back in Kalos, specifically Lumiose City. A small blue frog Pokemon leaped out of a window in Prof. Sycamore's Pokemon Lab and began exploring the city. While there, it began to sense Ash's strength and instantly became excited.

Meanwhile a plane began to draw closer to it's destination. On board was Ash, his trusty partner Pikachu, the Sinnoh Champion Andrew Richardson and Ash's friend Alexa. Ash looks out his window while thinking about a old friend named Nick and his Eevee, and saw all sorts of water Pokemon dancing and riding the waves of the sea.

"Wow Pikachu, come take a look!" Ash exclaimed.

"Pi Pikachu!" Pikachu said, looking as amused as his trainer.

"Wow, you and Pikachu sure are excited Ash." Alexa said, looking at the overexcited teen.

"Are you kidding?! A new region means new challenges to face and new Pokemon to see. Right Pikachu?" Ash asked his partner, who nodded in agreement.

"Eh, you've been to one region, you've been to them all." Andrew remarked, slightly bored and leaning his seat back.

Suddenly the intercom came on.

"This is your captain speaking, please fasten your seat belts and return your seats to a upright position. The weather in Lumiose City is currently sunny with a fresh 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Please relax as we are beginning our descent." After ten minutes, the plane finally landed and everyone was getting ready to disembark.

"We have now arrived in Lumiose City, please remember to take all carry-on luggage you brought with you. Thank you for flying Kanto Airlines and have a good day." The captain said as some bat-like Pokemon flew alongside the plane.

When Ash and Pikachu step outside, they were greeted by a small Pokemon with a white upper half and green lower half, then took in a deep breath and spoke.

"HEYYY KALOS REGION ASH KETCHUM FROM PALLET TOWN IS FINALLY HERE! PI PIKA!" Ash and Pikachu shouted loud enough for everyone to hear.

"What's with all the yelling?" Alexa asked.

"Yeah, you're gonna blow everyone else's eardrums out if you continue." Andrew added.

"Just saying hello to the Kalos Region and as soon as I walk down I'll say hello to the Kalos League." Ash said as he walked ahead, not paying any attention to the stairs.

"Hey dude, you might wanna-"

"WOAH AH AHHHHHH AHHHH!" Thud, Pikachu jumped off at the last minute before his trainer fell.

"Stop-" Andrew grimaced.

"Ash, are you okay?" Alexa asked.

"Oh yeah I'm okay." Ash said with swirls in his eyes, Pikachu nudged him to see if he was okay.

"You know you have a bad relationship when it comes to stairs." Alexa said, concerned about Ash's well being.

"You could say that again." Ash said, feeling a bit embarrassed. Suddenly, a small pink Pokemon flew right above them.

"Oh that is a Spirtzee." Alexa explained. "Hey Ash, I'm gonna head inside and make a phone call, meet me when you're done okay?"

"Got it."

The blue frog observes Ash, having followed him across the city.

When Ash was done, he was about to head inside as a shadow loomed overhead and jumped over them before landing right behind the two before heading off. Ash and Pikachu were astonished by what they had just seen. It all happened fast but Ash and Pikachu knew what they saw was a Pokemon, a very similar one at that but different. They then head to the entrance, and unbeknownst to them three figures were watching.

When they headed inside, they found Alexa was waiting for them.

"Hey, Alexa you won't believe what we saw."

"I know, I saw it as well." Alexa reminded the two.

"It looked like a Blaziken, but the form was completely different." Andrew noted.

"Sounds interesting, but one other thing remember how I told you that my younger sister is a gym leader on the plane ride here." Alexa said.

"Yeah, I said I would challenge her for a gym badge." Ash replied with some concern.

"Well, you see."

"What Alexa?"

"She just told me she's currently away from her gym at the moment." Alexa said nervously, knowing how Ash would react.

"WHAT AW MAN!" Ash said, he and Pikachu were down because they craved a good battle.

"I'm sorry." Alexa apologized, she knew Ash and his Pokemon were always ready for a battle.

"It really doesn't matter." Andrew interrupted. "This is a good opportunity to explore Lumiose."

"Yeah, Pikachu and I will do that until she comes back." Ash said.

"Actually, you can find another gym in Lumiose. You can challenge it for a badge instead." Alexa told him.

"That's great, thanks Alexa." Ash said as they head into the city.

"Well guys this is where we go our separate ways, I'll meet you down the road okay?" Alexa said.

"Got it, see you later Alexa." Ash said as the three head into the city.

"Good luck Ash!" Alexa yelled out.

'He sure is full of energy, go get them Ash.' Alexa thought to herself.

As Ash, Andrew and Pikachu travel through the city they see various restaurants, clothing stories, services and especially more Pokemon they have never seen before. After awhile they were standing in front of a huge structure known as Prism Tower. Inside is the first gym he would challenge after arriving in Kalos. As they entered, a young boy and a younger girl spotted them going inside. Ash and Pikachu then approached a room with what looked like power generators inside. As they came up to a door, a screen lit up.

"Welcome to the Lumiose Gym." The screen said.

"I'm Ash Ketchum, this is my partner Pikachu and that's our friend Andrew Richardson." Ash said. "I would like to have a gym battle."

"How many gym badges do you have?"

"He, uh doesn't have any. The two of us just got there."

"You have none?! Not even a single badge?! In order to challenge the Lumiose Gym, you're required to have four gym badges." After that two coils appeared from the ceiling and were charged with electricity.

"Please try again later."

"Huh, Pika? Wai-wait a minute." Ash said nervously but then the coils fired electricity at the two, shocking them.

"AHHHHHH, PIKKAAAA." Ash and Pikachu yell out while sliding down the trap door as it led outside Prism Tower. From there they began to free fall to the ground. Their screams attract the attention of the boy and girl from before as well as a certain blue frog, who was about to save Ash and Pikachu but was beaten to the punch.

"Oh no." The boy said and the girl gasped.

"I've got to catch that boy." The boy said.

"I'll get Pikachu." The girl said as both ran to save them.

"All right Activate." The boy said as he threw his backpack right under the spot where Ash was falling. It then turned into an airbag that Ash landed on safely. The little girl wound up catching Pikachu in her arms, saving him.

"Whoa, are you okay?" The boy asked.

"Yep I'm okay thanks for the assist." Ash thanked the two.

After Ash and Pikachu had been saved, Andrew rode the elevator down Prism Tower and rejoined them.

"Wow Clemont look a Pikachu, and what a cutie." The girl said with excitement while hugging the mouse Pokemon, she didn't know she was hugging him too tight and Pikachu didn't enjoy it as made evident by it charging electricity up in it's cheeks and unleashing a Thunderbolt, shocking everyone.

"Uh, is everyone okay?" Ash asked. Everyone nodded yes as the little girl began to laugh.

"Ugh Bonnie, you apologize right now!" The boy said with a serious tone.

"Ugh, I only wanted to hug Pikachu because it was so cute!" The girl replied in the same tone.

The boy used a different approach. "But did Pikachu enjoy it?" He asked. The girl looked at Pikachu who had a upset look on his face, telling her that Pikachu didn't appreciate the hug at all, making the little girl sad.

"You're right, sorry for all the trouble." The girl said to Ash and Pikachu.

"No biggie, Pikachu and I are okay and that's all that matters. Right buddy?" Pikachu nodded in agreement and the two laughed.

The boy and girl looked at each other happily that all was forgiven and the boy looked back at Ash and Pikachu, then thought. 'Well, they sure do have a strong bond with each other and they seem like nice people.'

They then head to a park in another part of the city and introduced themselves.

"Well, I'm Clemont and this is my little sister Bonnie." Clemont introduced himself and Bonnie.

"Nice to meet you." Bonnie said.

"It's nice to meet you, I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town and this is Pikachu." Pikachu said hello.

"My name's Andrew Richardson from Twinleaf Town in Sinnoh, I'm the current Sinnoh League champion."

"Wow, Kanto and Sinnoh. That's pretty far away from here." Clemont said.

"Wait, you're the Champion of the Sinnoh Region!?" Clemont exclaimed in shock.

"What?" Bonnie repeated. Clemont told her who the second person is and she also became shocked. A Regional Champion was right in front of them.

'And I'm not the only one.' Andrew thought to himself. 'Ash has a brother who is a regional Champion as well.'

"Yeah, Pikachu and I are on a journey so I can become a Pokemon master." Ash replied.

"Wow you guys sound like you've been to a lot of other places besides Kalos." Bonnie said, mesmerized by the two.

"You have to forgive my sister, she can get overexcited about someone with a Pokemon." Clemont said, causing Bonnie to pout.

"It's okay, I can relate." Ash chuckled. "I've actually been to five other regions before I came here."

"Wow five?! Man I wish I was on a journey." Bonnie said.

"I have to agree, five regions. That explains why your Pikachu sits on your shoulder, since you two trust each other that much." Clemont said.

"Actually Pikachu doesn't like being in it's Poke Ball, that's why he travels on my shoulder."

"Really, wow I've never heard of that before." Bonnie said.

Clemont thought. 'Wow they really do exhibit a strong bond, the question is how strong.'

Ash sighed. "Well, it's too bad I can't challenge the Lumiose gym."

"Yea the gym requires the challenger to have at least four gym badges." Clemont said with a stern voice, but Ash didn't notice this.

"If you ask me, that's a pretty weird rule."

"The gym leader is actually this super duper strong person." Bonnie said.

"Well if that's the case could I challenge you to a battle Clemont?" Ash asked.

"Uh are you sure Ash?" Clemont said.

"Yes, if I can't have a gym battle, I'd be honored to have my first battle in Kalos against you." Ash insisted.

"Alright, but watch out." Clemont smirked back hoping to give Ash a run for his money.

(Ash vs Clemont: 1 on 1)

On the battlefield both trainers are on each end looking at each other.

"Alright let's go Bunnelby." Clemont calls and out comes a grey rabbit Pokemon with large ears while parts of brown were on the top part of each ear.

Ash then called out his Pokemon.

"Alright Pikachu, let's do this." Pikachu nodded and got right on the battlefield. Bonnie then called out, with Andrew standing on the side. While he was overseeing the battle, he looked down and saw the blue frog.

"Hello." He cheerfully said, picking it up.

"Alright battle begin!"

"Alright Pikachu let's start off with Quick Attack." Pikachu's body glowed white and he charged towards Bunnelby.

"Bunnelby dodge it." Bunnelby then jumped to the side, avoiding Pikachu.

"Alright use Mud Shot." Bunnelby then charged up and fired several balls of mud at Pikachu.

"Use Quick Attack to dodge." Pikachu then charged up and ran forward with lightning speed while avoiding all the mud shots. Bunnelby was left exposed and Pikachu hit it, causing some damage.

"Are you alright Bunnelby?" Bunnelby nodded yes.

"Alright use Dig." Bunnelby then burrowed into the ground.

"Pikachu, use your senses to see where Bunnelby might surface." Pikachu used it's ears to sense vibrations from the ground. When a few rocks began to rumble, Pikachu reacted.

"Quick, Iron Tail." Just like that, Bunnelby tried to attack from behind but Pikachu spun to the side hitting Bunnelby with Iron Tail.

The attack sent Bunnelby forward and landed by Clemont's feet.

"Uh Bunnelby you okay?" Bunnelby struggled at first, but nodded yes.

"You battle well Ash." Clemont said.

"Trust me, you haven't seen anything yet." Ash replied.

"Alright use Double Slap." Bunnelby's ears charged up and he lunged at Pikachu.

"Pikachu use Iron Tail once again." Pikachu's tail glowed and he lunged at his opponent. Both Pokemon traded blows, matching each other in strength. Pikachu then tried to attack overhead but Bunnelby wound up catching it with it's ears.

"Ha gotcha." Clemont smirked.

"No got you." Ash said with a bigger smirk.

"Huh." Clemont said.

"Pikachu Electro Ball." Pikachu then charged up a sphere of electricity until it exploded in Bunnelby's face. The smoke faded and revealed Pikachu was still standing and Bunnelby knocked out.

"You did good Bunnelby, take a rest." Clemont returned Bunnelby to it's Poke Ball.

"Wow you really had me beat Ash." Clemont said, shaking his hand.

"Thanks Clemont you still gave me a great battle though." Ash replied.

Suddenly a cube was thrown towards Pikachu, but he reacted quickly and managed to get away.

"Alright who did that?!" Ash replied angrily. Then three figures appeared from the steps up above.

"Oh no, not you." Ash replied annoyed, knowing who they are.

"Ha prepare for trouble my beloved twerp."

"And make it doub-" A staff striking the ground cut them off.

"Are you finished?" Andrew questioned.

"HOW DARE YOU INTERRUPT OUR MOTTO!" The trio yelled out.

Andrew didn't react to their outburst.

"Look we'll skip the boring part and go right for the fun stuff as we want that Pikachu." The middle figure, a Meowth said.

"So you guys are a part of that small band of Team Rocket loyalists my brother mentioned." Ash said.

"We swore loyalty to Team Rocket and Giovanni." The man said.

"Team Rocket is finished, your boss is in jail." Ash spat out.

"Ever since you and the older twerp put him away, we'll get our revenge by taking your Pikachu." The woman said.

"Ha, the only thing you're getting is a blast off." Ash smirked.

"Pikachu, Thunderbolt." Pikachu charged up and fired a thunderbolt at the trio.

"Wobbufett go." A blue Pokemon stood in front of them and glowed, reflecting the thunderbolt. As it was about to strike Pikachu, a small blue Pokemon got right in front of him, getting hit by thunderbolt instead and slightly reducing the damage it would have taken with Bubble.

"Huh." Everyone said.

When the smoke faded, it revealed a small blue frog Pokemon.

"What's that?" Ash asked.

"Oh that's a Froakie." Clemont replied.

"Froa kie!" Froakie then jumped high up and threw a white projectile from it's back towards the trio.

"Wobbuffett go." Wobbuffett glowed again but it was somehow still struck along with the other three.

"Uh what is this stuff." The woman said.

"I don't know, but it's very sticky." The man said.

Seeing as they were immobilized Ash used the opportunity.

"Alright Pikachu, use Thunderbolt." Pikachu then charged up and fired a thunderbolt at the trio, shocking them and sending them flying.

"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN, Wobbuffett." The four said, blasting off into the sky and leaving a twinkle.

"That got them." Clemont said.

"For the time being, yes." Andrew replied. "But if I know anything about Team Rocket, it's that like most other villainous teams they're extremely persistent."

"They'll be back." Ash added.

"But how do you two kn-" Clemont said, but he was cut off by a Pokemon cry. They then look to see a injured Froakie.

"Oh no Froakie." Ash said, carrying the frog Pokemon in his arms. "We've got to get help. Clemont where's the nearest Pokemon center."

"It's too far away Ash, but the Sycamore Pokemon lab is nearby come on!" Clemont said.

They then rush to the Sycamore Pokemon lab to help Froakie.

'Hang in there Froakie we'll save you.' Ash said in his head.

"Froakie." It said weakly before opening it's eyes to see Ash closely and feeling the potential he emitted.
