Pushing through the chanting crowd Eddie hurried out of the hallway. He needed to get outside! Ignoring his dad and girlfriend's pleas to come back, Eddie escaped through the front doors of the school into relative freedom. He couldn't believe that Patricia would betray him like this! How could she reveal his secret to the whole school?
He had been so happy that everything was better between them for all of three minutes before the pair left the office and it all went to shit. It hurt all the more that it was Alfie and Jerome that had started the chant. He knew they were pranksters, but he thought that they were his friends. Hurrying back to Anubis House, Eddie planned to hide in his room until dinner.
Fabian peeked his head in the room to find Eddie sprawled on his bed; clearly still upset about what had gone down at school that afternoon.
"Hey Eddie, Vera says that dinner is ready. Are you planning on joining us?"
"Not like I have much choice in the matter" griped Eddie, reluctantly pushing himself to his feet and following his roommate into the dining room.
Once there he faced yet another dilemma. His normal seat would have him face to face with Patrica and Jerome and beside Alfie. Fabian, sensing his distress, graciously took Eddie's seat leaving the blond boy to slide into the open space beside Nina and across from Amber.
Helping himself to a large serving of Vera's chicken Parmesan, bowtie pasta, braised asparagus pepper salad, Eddie settled in for what he was sure was going to be an awful dinner full of taunts about his newly revealed parentage.
Surprisingly the topic of conversation stayed away from the newly revealed scandal for the first part of dinner. It wasn't until Jerome needed seconds on the asparagus salad that Eddie's fears were realized… just not in the way he had expected.
"Piper, can you be a dear and pass the Veggies please?" Asked the tall boy with a smirk letting everyone know he was fully aware of what he was doing.
Patricia leveled the boy with her deluxe "I'm going to kill you" glare, but the prankster remained surprisingly unaffected. Eddie guessed this had to do with living with the punk girl for many years and building up a tolerance to her ire.
"Come on Piper, just pass him the veggies" chuckled Alfie, joining in on the fun.
"Knock it off guys" sighed Joy, seemingly coming to her rescue. "We can all see that the veggies are perfectly in Jerome's reach, he doesn't need Piper's help".
Patricia shot her best friend a betrayed glare.
"Careful Joyless, or she'll go running to sweetie on you. After all she has an in now" teased Jerome winking casually in Eddie's direction.
"Oh please as if Patricia would ever go running to Sweet, she loves me" scoffed Joy.
"She blasted the fact that Eddie kissed Piper to the entire school this afternoon and she loves him… what makes you think you're any different?" pointed out Amber, before wincing apologetically at Eddie.
"Fair point. Sorry Trix" laughed Joy.
"Yeah, yeah laugh it up" scoffed Patricia bitterly, angrily pushing the potatoes around on her plate.
"I still can't believe that you kissed Piper" chuckled Mara, shaking her head at Eddie.
"Jerome told me too!" protested Eddie.
"I did not!" gasped Jerome dramatically clutching his chest, clearly enjoying the chaos.
"Yeah you did, you told me to not talk and just kiss her!"
"Yeah, your girlfriend… not her twin" cackled Jerome.
"I THOUGHT SHE WAS PATRICIA!"
"Come on, she clearly wasn't Patricia. Have you ever known Trixie ever not to talk?" snarked Nina.
"It was so obvious even Mick could have seen it" added Fabian
"Oh come off it, you all fell for it too when you first met Piper"
"Yeah but we didn't kiss her!" finished Jerome with a devilish smirk.
"UGGGH! I am done trying to reason with you all" groaned Eddie, throwing down his silverware and escaping to his room.
As he lay in bed that night Eddie couldn't help but reflect on the silver lining that at least his housemates seemed more concerned with him kissing Piper than who his dad was. Maybe this wasn't as big of a disaster as he thought it would be.
