Of all the places she could have been assigned. Of all the jobs she could have been given. How did she end up here?

She was always being told she had a bright smile and a warm glow, so why?

Her sister had something to do with this as the second of head, but why would elder Kaeda agree!

Sure she played and slacked off sometimes. She was carefree often, but she still did what she was supposed to do, brought honor to her name, was one of the strongest! WAS chosen to be the holder of the jewel by the damn jewel!

Who thought putting her in the den of demons was a good idea! This was insane. Unfair. Cruel.

What she wouldn't give to see the sun right now.

She wished she could say they did it because she was the strongest, but everyone was always comparing her to Kikyo, and Kikyo was the strongest. But did the jewel choose her, no. Did the jewel give Kikyo power? No! Was Kikyo the immortal one? No!

Kikyo wanted it; she did not. Why her. Lady Kaeda told Kagome secretly that the jewel chose her for her pure heart. Did that mean Kikyo didnt have a pure heart?

Kagome snorted, no. Kikyo was mean.

This was mean and scary.

Dark, cold, scary. No sun, no smiles. No anything.

She could be marrying people, birthing life, or healing the sick. So many things.

But instead, she was here, surrounded by death or near death. Surrounded by deadly demons, or more pinned point, one demon. Sesshomaru.

He was by far the most deadliest, darkest, scariest demon. She didn't like to admit she was afraid of him, but she was. She was afraid of all this, and they just left her here, in the dark dungeon. Her job was to keep the poor souls locked away, alive and well, and at peace so that they could later face their fate which was death. She was surprised when she first arrived that there were people here. Sesshomaru was not one to spare anyone. But these were not people he brought here, but they would be people he would dispatch. She hated that word. Dispatch. She shivered.

She just hoped she didn't have to kill anyone, and without valid reasons, they could not force her to. Of course, it had crossed her mind to lock him up down here, or at least try, but it was a quick thought that came and went.

Sesshomaru didn't leave people alive, There were no second chances or forgiveness. No begging for mercy. Though many did try, it always ended the same.

There were six people here, all men. Two humans and four demons. The humans were the most hopeless; they would not last a second, and what was worse is they never knew when their time would come, she never knew. It was like playing with your food. The demons, well, most of them anyway, came with smirks on their face and toyed with her like she was food, and even still, she prayed for their souls. There was always one or two who came with fear, clinging to her with hope that she could save them. But she couldn't save anyone, not even herself.

She had only been here for two weeks and had witnessed three deaths. Two demons and one human. She spent that night throwing up.

Sesshomaru had beheaded all of them, they stood no chance at all, and she had to purify the demon bodies.

First, she was angry, but now she was sad. It took her hours to get the blood out of her white top, and she had cried with anger the whole time. She was angry with Kikyo and Kaede and even the demon Lord Tashio himself. She wanted to be mad with Sesshomaru, but he did not bring her here; in fact, he was totally against it, insulting her but was against it.

But now that she was here, she suspected the demon Lord was getting kicks at her pale face and weak stomach. The jerk.

All the killing and all the death. Why. Why would they do this to her?

Why would anyone put to giver of light with the bringer of death. She was beginning to suspect that Kikyo wanted her dead and who better to smother the light than the king of darkness himself.
