Chapter 2: Summer Heat and Finally Found
Late morning settled over the small city of Amity Park with the sun beating down hard on its residents. There wasn't a cloud in the sky that could block the intensity of the sun, and it was definitely going to show through the projected temperatures for the day.
"Yep, it is definitely going to be a triple-digit day." The sweating African American teen looked down at his PDA with details of the conditions in Amity Park. A small amount of sweat had built up on his yellow shirt with his beret darkening a little at the edges. He seemed to be slowly adjusting himself to the upper 80oF temperatures.
None other than Danny Fenton, who looked to be affected by the heat as well, walked right beside him and tried to bring in more positivity, "Come on, Tucker. It is best to not think about it and just enjoy the day. I don't think Sam will let the heat affect her."
Tucker reacted loudly, "I don't know how Sam is going to live through it! All her black is going to be a heat sink for the sun. Why did you decide to invite me to go to the carnival today? Why did I accept the invite?!"
Danny clarified what had happened earlier today, "My mom and dad were working on improving the Fenton Foamer and it had a bit of a malfunction. My dad got stuck to the wall. So, instead of spending one of my mornings on Summer Break dealing with that, I thought that I could spend the day having fun with my friends away from ghosts or anything ghost-related." Danny looked over at Tucker with a questioning look, "You could have changed clothes if the heat is bothering you that much."
"And mess up my entire style?" Tucker shook his head while dismissing the idea, "I think I will suffer through the heat, thank you very much."
There was silence between the two before Tucker asked, "Did Sam say where she would meet us?"
Danny shook his head, "No, she didn't. We were originally going to meet her at her house and go there together, but she decided to head there before us when her mom decided that she wanted to bring Sam shopping with her." Danny let out a small chuckle, "It isn't like she will be that hard to find. Even in a crowd, she tends to stand out."
Tucker mumbled to himself, "I don't find it hard to believe that it wouldn't be hard for you." Danny looked over at Tucker with a skeptical expression since it seemed that he didn't quite hear what his friend said. Tucker stuttered out a response, "I-I mean, I am looking forward to having some of that good, fattening carnival food that will no doubt repulse Sam."
Danny shook his head, "Sometimes I think you gain even more pleasure from that food when Sam gives you grief."
The duo soon made it close enough to be able to hear the attractions and crowds of people at the carnival. The heat didn't seem to affect the jovial atmosphere. Instead, it probably just led to higher sales of beverages and ice cream. Some of the stands even had mist to keep the customers cool while they waited in line.
Tucker and Danny looked around the crowds for any sign of their female friend. There were a lot of people moving around that which made it difficult to find anyone specific. Tucker then asked, "Dude, do you know where she could be?"
Danny scanned quickly before pointing out a second or two after Tucker asked him, "There she is."
Sam was hiding in the shade of one of the food stands. It just happened to be one (and only) of the carts that served somewhat vegetarian food. From Danny's and Tucker's position, she was somewhat hard to see as there were groups of people constantly moving which obscured the black-haired teen from the boys. They quickly moved over to Sam so that they could start their relaxing day.
A little later
"Really, Tucker. Is it really necessary to be that much of a slob?" Sam crossed her arms as she looked across the table at the teen. Tucker had decided to snack on two corndogs while the three of them sat in the shade. There were another two corndogs in a little disposable food tray.
Tucker replied while he continued to each from each corndog, "What? It would be a waste if I didn't use both of my hands to eat. One corndog wouldn't be enough." He finished chewing and swallowing before stating matter-of-factly, "Besides, I am a growing boy who needs all of the protein that I can get."
Sam continued to prod at the salad she managed to bring from her house in slight irritation. She continued, "Well, you also need a lot of vegetables. I suggest that you at least have a salad with all of that processed meat and fatty bread."
Tucker finished one of the corndogs before sticking out his hand to stop the goth from continuing, "None of that-," He pointed towards the salad in front of Sam before continuing, "-is getting near this." He finished by pointing at his mouth.
Sam commented back, "This would probably be the best thing that you could put in your mouth."
Danny put a hot dog that he was eating before he managed to cut in so that he could play mediator, "Relax a little, Sam. I don't think there is any harm in Tucker having a few corndogs. I do think that he could slow down a little so he doesn't get sick."
Tucker paused eating one of the corndogs while he reached to grab another one with his free hand. He chewed a little before swallowing a large chunk of meat and bread. He commented back, "I don't think that I can get sick from any of this."
Sam herself looked a little squeamish looking over at her friend eating, "I think I am getting a little sick by just watching you eat it. Don't you have some dignity and respect for your digestive tract?"
"This is me respecting my digestive tract." Tucker then took another bite of the corndog.
Danny shook his head at his two friends who continued to disagree about what they should be eating as it wasn't that uncommon of an occurrence. However, he found himself enjoying the small moment of what he would describe as 'friendly disagreements'. While he loved his persona of Amity Park's local ghost-fighting superhero, he found himself also really enjoying these moments of just being a normal kid.
The argument between both of his friends, however, was becoming more heated. Danny found himself finally acting as mediator, "Come on, guys. You both know that you won't agree with each other's positions. Let's just move beyond that and get back to enjoying the rest of the day."
Tucker and Sam glanced at one another as they were practically hunched over the table arguing in each other's faces only seconds ago. The moment of heated discussion had passed, and this caused them both to sit back in their seats. Sam seemed to nod in agreement and took on a more diplomatic tone, "Danny is right. It is pointless for us to argue about dietary habits." She smiled over at Tucker, "I wouldn't be able to break through your carnivorous impulses."
"I will take that as a compliment," Tucker smiled back over at Sam before continuing, "And I don't think I could convince you to relax from your vegetarian lifestyle."
Sam corrected him, "It is 'ultra-recyclo-vegetarian'." Sam seemed to drop the subject of food entirely as she turned to Danny with a different topic, "I would have thought that you would have wanted to escape the heat and do something that avoided going outside. Go to the mall, watch a movie, perhaps travel to the Ghost Zone seeing as it won't be hot there."
Danny shook his head at the last suggestion, "I just want to take a day to not think about the ghost stuff. That means not going to the Ghost Zone, avoiding my parents, and not dealing with any ghosts that manage to come through today."
Tucker commented, "I don't think you have any power over that last one, dude."
A sigh escaped from Danny's lips, "I am just being a little hopeful. With all the enemies that I have made, I would have thought they would have felt like they would take a break every once and a while from trying to fight me or conquer something. Instead, it feels like they almost coordinate their attacks, so I no longer have any days where I am not fighting ghosts."
Tucker and Sam looked at one another with concerned looks. Danny continued, "Sorry to unload a little bit of that stuff on you guys. I am sure my attitude will turn around a little after hanging out a little more today."
Sam placed her hand over Danny's in a reassuring manner, "Well, I am glad that you told us."
Tucker beamed, "Yeah! We are there for you, from kicking ghost butt to relaxing from kicking ghost butt."
Sam continued speaking after Tucker, "We will be more than happy to take your mind off the ghost stuff." Sam recognized that his hand was still resting on Danny's hand, and she retracted it with a small blush.
That was until she decided to do just what she said. She grabbed Danny by the wrist and Tucker by the arm, who was snacking on his last corndog. She began to march toward the exit of the carnival with both friends in tow, "Come on. I know something we could do which will also be out of the heat, a little bowling. Sadly, we won't be able to do it at my house since I am still avoiding my parents and there is only so much that my grandmother can do to divert them, especially when they are as mad as they probably are now. So, we can go to Amity Park Lanes. I will make it my treat."
Tucker voiced how pleased he was with this decision, "Yes! Finally! We can finally stop the torture."
Danny smiled at his friends, but his attention was more directed at Sam for the moment. He spoke softly, "Hey, Sam?"
Sam looked back at Danny, "Huh?"
"Thank you. I just want you to know that I appreciate what you guys said back there. More than you know."
Sam felt a fluttering feeling overcome her as she continued to walk with her friends to the bowling alley.
Elsewhere
The heat of the day had definitely neared its peak, but that didn't stop too many citizens of Amity Park from going out and enjoying their day at the park. Out of the way, but not out of sight was Kirk who was laying passed out underneath a tree. The scorching temperatures had failed to fully awaken the teen from his slumber.
It seemed like his sleep was doomed to last as a man who was easily in their sixties in a uniform slowly walked over to Kirk's sleeping form with an annoyed look on his face. He stopped right at the teen's relaxed feet while looking down at him. He finally kicked one of them with little force, "Hey, you. This isn't a campsite. You can't stay here."
A grumble escaped Kirk, but he made no effort in trying to wake fully up. Instead, it seemed like he wanted to keep sleeping. The guy standing over him seemed to get a little more impatient, so he gave a swifter kick to Kirk's foot to jostle him awake, "Come on. Clear out of here before I make you."
Kirk's eyes fluttered open slowly as he got used to the light of the sun. The first thing that he noticed was the cop standing over him with an authoritative posture. Then the feeling of the sweltering heat, despite the shade, seemed to strike him in an instant as he noticed the sweat that seemed to collect on him.
Kirk knew that his plans to search for the ghost hero's whereabouts early went out the window as it was easily midday at this point. A sigh escaped him, "Shit."
The cop seemed to look over Kirk with a careful gaze before speaking, "Hey, aren't you a little young to be staying at the park?"
It was true that Kirk wasn't the oldest-looking 17-year-old, and that also includes the fact that he only turned 17 only a few weeks ago. With a still groggy mind, Kirk came up with an excuse for him being sleeping with all his things around him, "I was… uh… I mean… I guess I just got a little tired from stargazing last night. I am sure that my parents are wondering where I am at this point."
Kirk got to his feet while stretching out. He searched over the cop's features whilst trying to decipher whether he bought his lie or not. He was hoping to not catch anyone's attention, especially not some cop's attention. The teen waited for the cop to respond.
The cop put his hands on his belt before responding in a somewhat serious manner, "Well, next time be a little more careful. The park can be a little dangerous at night, especially for a kid who might be alone. I would suggest watching the night sky from your home next time. I would have thought that your parents would have known that."
Kirk relaxed a little as he knew that his small lie managed to avoid any further speculation by the police officer. He responded, "I will keep that in mind." He grabbed his bags before looking at him once more, "Am I good to go?"
The cop took a second before nodding and motioning for him to leave. Kirk began to walk away and towards his 'home' while the cop watched behind him. Kirk had already started planning on his next moves, such as how he was going to procure food and a place to stay.
The cop continued to look at the teen as he disappeared out of view with a discontent look. The cop had been around long enough to know when a kid was lying, especially when it came down to parents. That kid, he wasn't exactly the most compelling liar. The cop knew he should pursue the teen, but that decision was taken from him once the teen disappeared. If given the chance again, which he expects will happen, he will make sure the teen ends up in a better situation.
On the other end, Kirk walked quickly out of the park and around the corner so he could escape the police officer's vision quickly. A lot of the day had already been wasted on him sleeping, so he would have to make up time by getting food quickly. That meant he would probably have to resort to two options: the trash or stealing.
Kirk rubbed his face with his hand trying to wipe away the residual grogginess and sweat. While it didn't please him, this isn't the first time that he has resorted to the second option due to money shortcomings. I always left a bad taste in his mouth.
While Kirk was in deep thought about how he was going to eat and house himself, while also figuring out how he was going to find the ghost, he failed to realize the three teens walking in the opposite direction as him. They also seemed preoccupied while talking to each other to the point of not realizing Kirk was closing in on them.
Kirk finally collided with them enough to knock one of them down while he managed to keep on his feet. He came out of his thoughts enough to look at the three of them. Standing on his left was an African American who looked a little geeky and on his right was a girl who was unmistakable goth. The one who fell to the ground looked relatively unremarkable as he just wore jeans and a t-shirt.
Kirk offered his hand to the teen, "Sorry about that. I guess I should watch where I am going."
The teen took it and was lifted to his feet quickly. He rubbed a sore spot while responding, "It is alright. I guess I wasn't exactly paying attention either."
The goth teen, Sam, asked in a concerned manner, "Are you okay, Danny?"
Danny nodded in and brushed off the minimal worry, "Yeah, I am all good." He turned to Kirk before saying, "I guess we were just a little focused on our conversation that we didn't notice you. Sorry about that, …"
"Kirk," The teen standing opposite the three finally got out of their way before continuing, "I can also understand that. I should be on my way. I wouldn't want to keep you three from wherever you are going."
Kirk walked around them before continuing down the sidewalk in the opposite direction from the three. Danny continued to stand there for a moment as he looked at Kirk's back as he walked away with some confusion and unease. This was noticed by the other two in his group. Tucker asked, "Danny? What's up, dude?"
Danny tried to shake his gaze as something within him was warning him of Kirk despite him not being weird in any metric. Danny responded, "I am sure it is nothing…"
Sam asked, "Do you think he is a ghost?"
Danny thought for a second before shaking his head, "My Ghost Sense didn't go off. I guess I just feel like some other thing inside me is trying to tell me something like a Ghost Sense."
Sam and Tucker looked at one another with confused looks. Danny saw this and tried to make them forget about it, "I am sure that it is nothing. Come on, let's get to the bowling alley."
Danny led the other two as they put the teen that they had just bumped into on the sidewalk behind them. On the other hand, Kirk had also gotten a feeling from that little interaction that he couldn't quite place. He had gotten similar feelings when in threatening situations, or when whatever was inside him decided to release, just like he felt before last night's incident. This felt tamer, and more of a warning.
Kirk shook his head. He didn't have time to concern himself with the local youth like this. He had bigger fish to fry, and that was what he needed to focus his undivided attention on. Right now, food seemed to be the largest priority since his stomach growled in desire. His hunger was going to be satiated before any other worry.
Outside Amity Park, Bus Depot
The bus station had been closed down while many different city, county, and state troopers looked over the scene of a bus with a cracked windshield. The incident that had occurred the night before would have been relatively ignored had it not been for the mystery surrounding what had happened. Only three accounts, two of them being hazy with the drunk conditions of two eyewitnesses, were there to describe the incident. There was a constant word thrown out by the three, though: ghost. This would inevitably shift to the oversight of a specific government agency.
"So, when do you think they will show up?" The state trooper standing next to another state trooper asked the question. The two were standing out at the perimeter of the scene to make sure that no amateur ghost investigators intruded to taint what evidence that might exist.
The other one responded, "I don't know, Jim. They are usually a pain in the ass to work around. Hopefully, they will just send us away once they get here."
A chuckle escaped Jim, "I doubt that. They like to swing their cocks around whenever they can. Since there are no active 'ghosts', I doubt that a containment unit will be brought in. That means we will be standing here all day until they figure out what happened here."
Right as Jim finished what he was saying, a helicopter's rotor could be heard in the distance before becoming a little louder. It then came into view over the surrounding trees before moving to land in an open area in the parking lot. The rotor hadn't even started to slow down before four agents in white suits exited it.
Two of them approached the bus from the incident the night before while two others, one Caucasian and the other African American, approached an open space between most of the officers and troopers. The African American, Operative K, spoke out loudly to the group of officers, "This scene is now under the jurisdiction of the GIW. Vacate the scene but maintain a wider perimeter."
The other one, Operative O, followed by saying, "Do not disturb our analysis of the spectral phenomena."
None of the officers seemed in the mood to argue with the mysterious individuals who strutted around with a walk that screamed 'government agent'. They extended the perimeter of the scene to give the GIW more space to work in privacy.
Jim whispered to the trooper that he was speaking with earlier as they walked further from the bus, "See. I told you that they wouldn't waste the opportunity."
"I guess not."
Meanwhile, the two agents outside walked up to the bus where the other two were deeply surveying the scene with their various equipment. One of the two agents asked them, "Operative L, Operative M, have either of you determined what we are dealing with here?"
Operative M was the first to respond to the question with a frown, "No. From descriptions of the incident, this was where the ghost was sitting last night, but there is no reading of ecto-energy reading detected here."
Operative L, who was at the front of the bus spoke, "There is no reading up here either. No ecto-energy reading or trace amounts of Ectoplasm for us to analyze back in the lab. It is almost as if a ghost was never here."
A look of disbelief overcame Operative O and Operative K. Then, Operative K responded critically, "Impossible. Our instruments have the ability to register single molecules of Ectoplasm and residue. If a ghost was here, our instruments would show us the proof."
Operative M spoke out his thoughts, "Is it possible that the report was fabricated, or that the witnesses just mistook what they saw? I mean, two of them were inebriated."
"Negative." Operative O was the one who responded this time. He continued, "Agent Alpha watched the video himself to verify if there was spectral activity. While the film is grainy, something supernatural happened on this bus last night, and some kid was the cause of it."
Operative L then asked, "Well, is it possible that it wasn't a ghost, but something else that acted supernaturally? Maybe Agent Alpha was mistaken to think it was a ghost?"
The three other agents looked at one another before bursting into laughter. They failed to contain themselves for a few seconds before Operative K responded while still chuckling, "Yeah, I am sure that it was a zombie or a vampire. Or more unlikely, Agent Alpha was wrong. That was a good one."
Operative L was slightly embarrassed by his suggestion. All he did was cross his arms without otherwise responding. Operative K continued, "It is possible that our equipment may be faulty." He pulled out an older device and a cotton swab. "We just must use something a little older, but more reliable. Perhaps this will give us better results."
He walked over to the seat that Kirk had been sitting in the night before and thoroughly swabbed it. He then placed the cotton swab into an insert for the device. The screen lit up and showed a loading screen for the sample. After a good minute or two, the device filtered out many compounds to show only things that were unusual.
The device showed only one compound of unusual origin with no earthly origin. However, Operative K's face scrunched in confusion. The other agents, who looked at the screen too, have faces of either concern or confusion. The result of the sample also showed that it wasn't of known ghostly origin either.
Operative O made a judgment call, "This calls for more analysis. We should bring the bus back to base so that we can catalog what was left over for future reference. We might be faced with whoever was here in the future."
The other agents nodded, "Affirmative."
With not much left to do at the bus station, the agents prepared the bus for transit. They would discover what they don't know at the base and then track down who or what was responsible for the incident last night.
Later in the day
The sun began to slowly descend beyond the horizon. The record-breaking heat for the day started to decrease which relieved the citizens of Amity Park. The air was still warm, but it wasn't the sweltering heat propagated by the sun.
Danny, Sam, and Tucker continued to enjoy their day filled with activities like playing games at the arcade, bowling, and snacking at various places. Since the day was coming to an end, the three decided to head back to Sam's to finish off the night with some movies.
Danny asked, "Do you really think it is alright to go back to your house, Sam? I thought that your parents could be upset over you leaving earlier."
Sam waved it off, "It should be fine. My parents might have some thin skin, but they also tend to not hold onto a grudge for very long. It takes more than me skipping out on some shopping with them to make them angry for longer than a day. We have gone through this all before."
A more relaxed posture took over Danny as he continued to walk with his friends. Tucker commented after, "What are we going to watch? Some fantasy or perhaps action-adventure?"
Same responded, "I am sure we will find a few movies to choose from. I usually have a larger collection of horror, but I do have a decent amount of everything."
Danny spoke up, "Well, we do have the time to watch a few movies tonight. What is the plan for dinner?"
Sam was already bringing out her cell phone, "What are you guys feeling? Sandwiches or pizza? It is on me as well."
An objection started to come out of Danny, "Sam, you don't have to do that. You already paid for the bowling today. I am sure Tucker and I can-"
Tucker grabbed Danny by the shoulder to quiet him. He then responded, "Dude, no offense, but stop talking. When have I been one to reject a handout and especially when it comes to food?"
The was still a conflicted look plastered on Danny's face, but that was eased by Sam responding, "Don't worry too much about it. Spending some of the money I get from my parents on my friends is something I enjoy doing very much. It is okay."
Danny hesitated for a moment longer before letting out a sigh, "Alright. I guess I prefer pizza."
Tucker nodded in agreement, "Nothing would cap off this day more than a nice pizza topped with pepperoni and sausage."
Sam began to dial the number for her favorite pizza place as she began to think over the orders that she knew her friends would want. She almost finished punching in the numbers when a dreaded feeling overcame Danny. The familiar chill of his ghost breath leaving his mouth then caught his eye.
He then spoke before Sam could press the green 'call' button, "I would hold off on placing that order, Sam. I have a feeling that we have company."
Danny scanned the area for a moment seeing that there was nothing out of place. There wasn't anyone walking out on the street that he could see, and nothing quite seemed out of place. Both Tucker and Sam were also looking around with worry as they couldn't quite spot anything.
After a good five seconds, there was the hissing of a missile that Danny had become quite familiar with coming from above and heading right toward him and his friends. Out of instinct, Danny grabbed both of their shoulders and turned intangible the moment right before the missile struct the concrete sidewalk below their feet.
The smoke cleared showing the scorched and cracked pavement. Danny then released his friends before turning tangible once again. He looked up at the robotic ghost flying above him with his jetpack. Danny mumbled to himself, "So much for a quiet day. I should have known…" He spoke up with disdain lacing his voice, "Skulker. I wouldn't have thought that you would have stooped so low to surprise attack." Danny then smirked, "It is a little unsportsmanlike."
Skulker rebutted, "A pelt is still a pelt. It doesn't matter how I got it. Besides, …" Skulker then landed right across from the teen, "you wouldn't be as valuable of a prize as I thought had that killed you."
Danny only responded with the white rings that revealed his ghostly alter ego underneath. His blue eyes turned to a glowing green that stared at one of his archenemies. He asked, "Having troubles with that 'girlfriend' again?" Danny quoted with his fingers for the 'girlfriend' part.
An unimpressed look overtook Skulker's metallic features as he looked back at Danny, "That wasn't something I made up. We initially bonded with each other on the fact that we hate you." The phantom kid arched his eyebrow in confusion while Skulker continued to talk as if they were old friends. "Sadly, we grew apart and are no longer together. I wished to continue to hunt while she wanted me to spend more time with her, and she also told me she wanted me to appreciate her music more."
Danny looked on confused before it all connected. He looked back at Sam and Tucker to see that they also got the hint. They all began to laugh together much to the annoyance of Skulker. Danny, who continued to laugh, finally replied, "You are telling me that you were dating Ember McLain?! I thought that it was ridiculous to hear ghosts dating in the first place, but this goes way beyond that."
Skulker responded by pointing his wrist laser at Danny. He glared but didn't fire. He spoke, "The only ridiculous thing about that is how she reacted. She will soon come to her senses."
A smirk found its way onto Danny's lips, "It sounds like she came to her senses just now."
Skulker became angry by the remark and fired at Danny without any more hesitation. The beam seemed to strike Danny right in the chest but only seemed to throw him back rather than hurt him. Both Sam and Tucker came over to Danny to check up on him.
Danny shook the daze from his head before saying, "I guess there is no more chit-chat." He then looked over to Sam and Tucker, "You don't suppose that you brought any equipment to help me in this fight?"
Sam shook her head, and Tucker responded, "Sorry, dude. Seeing as you wanted this to be a completely 'ghost-free' day, we didn't bring anything with us. Not even the Fenton Thermos. This is all up to you."
Sam added, "I should have a thermos at my house along with some gadgets. If you can hold him off for a few minutes, Tucker and I should be able to gather them."
Danny smirked, "Hold him off? I should have him beaten by then."
Tucker and Sam took off only for Sam to turn around, "Still, be careful."
Danny nodded, "Don't worry, I will be."
Soon, it was only Skulker and Danny in the street. They both stared each other down as they had done before countless times. Neither moved an inch for a few seconds. The air around them almost seemed to be affected by their standoff as not even a breeze or sound propagated through it. The only movement was Skulker's flaming hair and goatee.
Suddenly, Danny sent an ecto-energy blast at Skulker. The ghost propelled to the side to dodge the blast with the help of his jetpack. Skulker then activated his missile launcher before sending a few rockets towards Danny's position. Danny managed to twirl around the missiles while flying toward his enemy. He flew and tackled Skulker before flying up into the air.
Danny spoke while they cruised through the air, "Isn't this getting a little old? You attack, I fight back, you lose. How about we skip the part where you cause property damage and to where you got back to the Ghost Zone."
Skulker smiled over Danny, "I'm not going to lose this time. This time I have a few more cards up my sleeve."
Skulker then spun around with the help of his jetpack and out of Danny's grasp. Before he could truly gather his bearings, Danny punched him from above to where the mechanical ghost then struck the street below.
Danny landed and fired another ecto-energy beam. Skulker managed to create a ghost shield that blocked the shot from hitting him. Danny pulled back for a moment to see that Skulker was unaffected by the strike. The hunter then retorted verbally to Danny's attack, "You are going to have to do better than that, Ghost Child."
An icy blue overtook the green in Danny's eyes as he shot a small ice blast meant to freeze Skulker's feet to the pavement, but it didn't even make it halfway. Skulker intercepted the shot with a wrist flamethrower that instantly melted the strike. He responded with a dark smile and voice, "My turn."
Skulker shot out two wrist nets towards Danny in a somewhat surprising move. Danny managed to strike one of them away before the other one ensnared him. He was instantly pulled to Skulker in a swift move before he was released to roll to the mechanical ghost's feet.
Danny moved to get to his feet but was pulled up into Skulker's grasp. Danny managed to blast the ghost hunter in the face before being electrocuted and thrown down the street. Danny struggled to get back to his feet while speaking, "I guess you do have a few cards up your sleeve."
Skulker smirked, "You like the new additions? They were specifically added and programmed to deal with you."
Danny commented, "Too bad you can't program a new hobby into your suit."
Skulker rushed forward with his jetpack to grab Danny. However, Danny blasted the outreached hand causing it to break apart. Skulker stopped right in front of Danny with an unamused expression on his face as he looked at the now missing limb. He responded to Danny's comment, "Funny. Ember said the same thing to me."
Danny tried to not internalize the response too much as he attempted to strike once again. However, Skulker was prepared and deflected the shot and grabbed the hem of Danny's suit. He threw him even further down the street to the point where Nasty Burger was visible to them.
Danny skid to a stop and Skulker continued to move. However, the empty street seemed to be not as empty as before since there was a lone figure walking down the street. The ghost and half-ghost didn't even notice him before he hid in an available alley.
The green eyes of Kirk peered out in slight disbelief as he witnessed his first ghosts in plain view. It hadn't even been a day since fully arriving in Amity Park and he was getting a first-hand view of the paranormal that happens here. He mumbled to himself, "I guess it is true what they say about this town. You walk out at night, and you are guaranteed to witness ghosts. And I am unbelievably lucky to run into him as soon as I did."
Kirk's eyes landed on the form of Danny who struggled to get to his feet. From what Kirk had seen in the short new clips he has seen this was a usual enemy that Danny Phantom had faced often. Phantom had always come out on top.
Skulker's jetpack carried to mechanical ghost just a few feet from Danny. He landed and extended his retractable wrist blades from his still intact arm. He walked slowly and spoke, "It has been fun, Whelp, but all great hunts must come to an end at some point."
Danny clutched his side as he got ready to defend himself. He let out a few chuckles, "I wouldn't count myself out just yet."
Kirk watched from the alley hearing every word. He did not doubt that the ghost teen could recover from this and ultimately succeed, but Kirk wasn't going to take any chances after traveling all this way for him.
With only one option, Kirk was going to have to rely on the part of him that he hated the most. He was going to have to rely on his curse to save the one he needed the most.
