(Hello my wonderful readers! So I actually forgot all about this fanfic that I started I don't know how long ago, but recently I rediscovered it and after I began adding more to it I decided I wanted to share what I had so far. So this is a fanfiction about Rock Lee from Naruto having a special friend from his academy days who always believed in him even when most everyone else scorned him because he can't use ninjutsu or genjutsu and struggles more than the other students in his class. Rock Lee is I think my favorite character from Naruto so this was very fun and therapeutic to work on. I hope you like it. I'm still developing my OC character and what kind of unique abiities she might have. I own nothing but my OC.)
...
"Rock Lee? Come to the front of the classroom and demonstrate the transform jutsu." Iruka nodded at the student sitting in the far right hand corner desk of the first row in front of him.
He noted how excited the boy got when he was called even though the majority of the rest of the class groaned at the sounding of his name.
"Hai! Coming Sensei!" Lee perked up, paying no attention to the jeers, groans and laughter of those around him.
"Aww come on, Lee. You know it's pointless. You haven't been able to use one successful ninjutsu or genjutsu since the first day of class." A boy sitting two rows behind Lee complained, rolling his eyes.
"Yeah when are you going to realize that you'll never be a real ninja? You can't be ninja without ninjutsu." Another student chimed in though Lee ignored them all.
"Transform Jutsu!" He chanted, clapping his hands together in the gesture they were all taught for performing this technique.
A short awkward silence followed before a series of soft snickers slowly echoed around the classroom.
Iruka pressed his lips together into a line. "Your form is correct, Lee. Unfortuantely you didn't build up enough chakra to complete the technique. Takumi, why don't you demonstrate how the transform technique is done?" He turned to call up another student while Lee slumped disappointed back to his own seat.
Alone of most of the his classmates who snickered or taunted the poor boy as he dropped dejectedly into his chair, a young girl sitting almost in the back row, watched Lee with a sad sympathetic look on her face.
Poor Lee. If only there was some way someone could help him build his chakra better. But...he already trains so hard. Every day and every evening he practices in the training room. Harder than anyone else and yet...
Her face fell even more at her thoughts and she barely noticed when Takumi successfully performed the Transform Jutsu for the rest of the class.
"All right, for the rest of class I want you all to break up into pairs and practice building your chakra and performing the transform jutsu. You will be tested on it at the end of this week so work hard." Iruka instructed, eyeing each young student in the room before turning to leave, a stack of quizzes in one hand.
Each student waited until the door had closed before springing to life. "All right! I get to work with Neji this time!"
"Hey! No fair! You got to train with Neji last time! It's my turn!"
"I don't think so! I'm the best student here next to Neji so I'd be the best training partner for him!"
"Oh! Isamu! Want to pair up?" Lee called towards a boy sitting next to him, but Isamu only sighed moving towards a girl with shoulder length brown hair instead.
"No thanks. I need to get some actual practice in with my chakra building. Maybe you should just sit this one out, Lee. It's not like you're ever able to build any decent amount of chakra."
Lee's face fell, but he quickly recovered, turning towards another boy next. "Jun! Why don't we-!"
"Forget it, Caterpillar brows!" The boy scoffed, shoving Lee backwards into his chair as he swept by. Some of the other students cackled when Lee yelped, nearly tipping out onto the floor from the force of the shove.
Sighing, Lee hung his head finally admitting defeat as he listened to the laughter grow steadily louder.
Perhaps they are right. Oh well, I suppose I could always practice on my own. Lee started to turn around in his seat when a timid little voice caught his attention.
"Um...Lee? Would you...? Uh...I mean if you want, we could..practice building chakra for the transform jutsu together." The girl offered surprising Lee since no one had ever asked to practice with him before and Naomi was the shyest member of their shinobi class.
"Na...Naomi-chan. Are you sure?" Lee asked, not quite believing that the kunoichi in training before him really wanted to partner up with him for a ninjutsu exercise.
Almost stiffly however, Naomi nodded her head, managing a tiny smile. "Yes. It is a pair exercise, is it not? Maybe we can help each other." She shrugged her shoulders.
Lee stood frozen in confusion for a moment longer. Then his face broke into a wide goofy smile.
"Yes! Let's do this, Naomi! I'm sure between the two of us, we will master the transform jutsu by this Friday!" Lee suddenly popped up from his seat, pumping his fist into the air with so much excitement, it startled Naomi a bit.
Finally she let out a sheepish laugh. "H-hai. Of course, Lee." She jumped again in surprise when she felt Lee firmly grasp her hand in his own.
"Let's get started then! First, we must build the proper chakra levels! Come on, Naomi-chan!"
