Sort of a continuance of Love the Lonely Out Of You in which Aurora and Diaval come face to face for the first time since their night together.
Still a ONESHOT. Read, enjoy, review:)
Aurora sat at her writing desk. The golden and marble accents of the room closed in around her. This was her bedroom. Well, their bedroom, she and Philip. However, she'd spent more nights alone in this room than with her husband.
That didn't make it any easier though, the guilt she felt. And the sadness. The ache in her heart squeezed so tightly she could scarcely breathe. Guilt over forsaking her marriage vows in the arms of Diaval. Sadness because she knew that they could never be together.
She'd made her bed. Like a foolish child. Now she'd have to lie in it for forever. It had been two months since that night and she'd neither seen, nor heard from Diaval. Today she sent word to the moors in secret. She needed to see him.
The memories of their night together flooded her mind. The thought of his lips ghosting over hers during their night of passion made a tear slip down her porcelain cheek. She sighed and wiped the tear.
The sun was setting, just as a storm was blowing in. The dark clouds enveloped the pink hue of the sunset. There was a thickness in the summer air. A low rumble of thunder echoed from the sky. The curtains blew wildly.
Aurora made her way to the window. Her pale jade gown brushing the floor as she went. The garment was fitting tighter now. Soon she'd have no choice but to announce the news... She reached out to close the pane when she noticed a dark bird circling. Her heart stopped. Only for a moment though, as she quickly realized it was not him. Not who she longed to see.
It began to rain, and Aurora pulled the window closed, but not all the way. Never all the way since that night. Just in case...She went to turn down the bed. It would be another early night. At least in dreams she could be with the one she truly loved.
Just then, she heard the window creak. She turned just as her dark visitor finished his transformation. There he stood. Dripping wet.
"Hello Aurora," he whispered. "I, I tried to make it before the rain,"
He gave her a little half smile.
"Diaval!"
She immediately went to him. His cold wet skin instantly warmed as she pulled his body against hers in an embrace.
"I've missed you," she confessed.
He kissed the top of her golden head. "I missed you as well."
His face was pale with a fresh scrape along his jawline. She reached up to examine the wound.
"What happened?"
"You know how we wild things are,"
And wild, he was. The look in his eyes made Aurora feel faint. If Philip came home. If he saw...
"I haven't seen you on the moors since..."
She turned loose of her lover and stepped back. "I know, Diaval. I'm sorry,"
He cocked his head sideways causing the wet strip of hair to fall across his forehead. There was something different about his Aurora. "You've no cause to apologize to me, Princess."
Aurora felt her lips tug upwards in a smile. She couldn't help it. Diaval made her so...happy. So herself. So at home. She'd come to realize that any time she had to spend away from him was torture. It was bound to be, though. When he had, in all his forms been there for her throughout her entire life. Living without him made her life less.
"I'm afraid I've put myself in a rather difficult position." She whispered. "Why didn't you tell me you loved me before all of this?" She gestured to their elegant surroundings.
"I thought you loved Philip,"
"I thought I did too,"
"More importantly, I thought you could never love me." He turned his back on her now. Embarrassed at his feeble confession.
"I have always loved you, Diaval."
"But as no more than just a pretty bird,"
The sadness in his voice broke Aurora's heart, along with whatever resolve she thought she had.
"You were never just a pretty bird to me. You've always been my friend."
He turned now and looked down into her eyes. Those pale blue eyes. "I don't want you to regret anything. I just want you to be happy. That's all I've ever wanted."
He was moving closer to her and the closer he came the more Aurora's nerves were standing on edge. She wanted to find herself in his arms again. She wanted to feel truly alive. Her spirit awakened by his kiss. Her soul ignited by his love.
Suddenly, Diaval was lifting her up into his arms. He carried her to the bed and there they fell together. Aurora lovingly kissed his scrapes, and caressed his scars. He laid her down and let his long fingers slip through her golden hair.
"Why did you summon me here tonight?" He whispered.
His fingertips graced her shoulder and trickled down her chest.
"I need to tell you something," she whispered.
Diaval's fingertips stopped just below her waistline. His eyes shimmered with knowing.
"Aurora,"
"I am with child, Diaval."
