(Part 6. This is all I have for now. I hope you will enjoy! Sorry this part is kind of really sad, but I will write more for this later. :) I own nothing but my OC.)
...
"The damage is extensive...the bones in his arm and leg are completely shattered and the muscle tissue...he'll be lucky if he can even stand again."
The Doctor's words sounded as if they were being spoken from underwater as Naomi stood as if frozen by her friend's bedside and stared at Lee's motionless and bruised face below her.
There were bandages on nearly half his body and his right arm and leg were both splinted and elevated in a way that Naomi knew was meant to help them heal properly...except there was a high chance that Lee would never completely heal. Not after what happened to him during that fight.
A shudder trembled through her body as she recalled and tried to banish away the images of Lee's beaten body being swallowed by the sand just before his anguished screams echoed around the arena.
Shaking her head as if to physically shake out the horrific memories, Naomi moved towards the thin glass vase that sat on the window sill and plucked out the wilting orchid that was inside and replacing it with the purple magnolia she brought from the flower shop.
A magnolia for healing and good luck.
Quickly she kissed the flower before letting it drop into the vase.
"You...you almost look like you could be sleeping, Lee...if it wasn't for all the blood and...bandages." Naomi began to murmur as she returned her attention to the injured boy on the bed beside her.
Carefully pulling a chair closer to the bed, she sat down and reached to take Lee's good hand, mindful still of the small scrapes and bruises left on it from his match.
"You know the Doctors said you'd live, but the likelihood of you continuing as a shinobi is..." She trailed off, biting her lip and squeezing her eyes shut as tears started to brim over.
"Darn it, Lee! We made a solemn promise!" Naomi's voice wavered as she clenched her hands into fists at the sides of her thighs.
"We were supposed to become top ninjas and have a rematch to see who is better...how can you break your promise already?" She vented through clenched teeth as violent sobs struggled to break free from within her.
"H-how...?...It's not fair!...It's not..."
As the tears continued to stream down her face, Naomi gently tugged Lee's hand closer to her while also being mindful not to hurt him more.
Wake up Lee. Please just...wake up!...We made a promise, so you need to wake up. You're stronger than this, Lee. I know it. You're stronger than anyone I know and no matter how many times you failed you always overcome...so don't you DARE give up...You made me a promise...You made me a promise, so don't you dare break it without a fight...I believe in you, Lee...
