Chapter 1: A Royal Beginning

We open with a view of a courtyard garden of an underwater castle, with a giant clamshell in it. Though the strangest thing was that if someone were to look inside the giant clamshell. They would be able to see 4 different colored spheres, with 1 person in each sphere curled and in some kind of suspended sleep-like state, going through some kind of transformation.

In the pink one, you could see a girl around the age of 5, with brown hair. Though the strangest thing was, what was happening in the sphere. Her clothes were vanishing and were being replaced by a different set of clothing. Along with pink fish scales, that were appearing on her legs.

The same thing was happening in the blue sphere. Though the girl inside, looked to be about 7 years old and had periwinkle hair. And was going through the same thing. Except, that she had blue scales appearing on her legs.

In the first green sphere. You can see a woman in her early 30's, with early signs of stress. Going through the same changes, as the rest. Though the sphere was undoing the damage done, due to her stress. While making her through the same changes as the 2 girls. Except, that green scales were appearing on her legs.

In the final green sphere. You can make out a boy in it. Who looked a bit like the woman in the other green sphere. Was going through the same transformation as the 3 other girls and was gaining green scales on his legs. Just like the woman in her early 30's. Though some additional changes were happening as well.

But, how did they wind up in the position that they're currently in. Well, I think it's better to turn the clock back a few hours or a day, at the max.

(Flashback)

Inko had decided to take izuku to the beach. Hoping to take some time from everything that had happened over the past year. Between her husband disappearing to her and Izuku being told that Izuku was Quirkless. And that last one made her feel like she has failed herself as a mother.

While at the beach, Izuku had made friends with a 6 or 7-year-old periwinkle hair girl, named Nejire Hado. After she had accidentally hit him on the back of his head, with her beach ball. Before she proceeded to help him up and then proceeded to check him all over. While apologizing, for hitting her with the beachball. Then once he had accepted her apology, she proceeded to introduce herself and say that she and her family were from Akita Prefecture. Before she proceeded to excitedly drag Izuku off, with her, to who knows where.

Until Nejire ran over a brown hair girl, with a perpetual blush on her face. Causing her to stop once again and notice 2 things. First was that she was still dragging Izuku and helping him stand up. Followed by her finally noticing the person, whom she ran over while dragging Izuku behind her. Where she once again apologized for running her over. Before Nejire started introducing herself and Izuku to the girl. Who introduced herself as Ochako Uraraka and that her family was able to save up enough money to at least spend the day at the beach. Before they needed to board the train to head back home.

After introductions were done, Nejire proceeded to grab Ochako's and start dragging the 2 off to who knows where, once again. Before they found a very nice section of the beach and started playing around there. And that was how Inko found them hours later still playing. She could only smile at the fun Izuku was having in front of her.

Then she felt someone launch her towards the kids. Where she crashed into where they were playing unconscious. Then Izuku, Nejire and Ochako ran over to check on Inko. Before the 4 were blasted by some kind of Quirk and teleported to who knows where. With a person saying to 2 other people, "that they can't have any witnesses." Ultimately leaving 2 sets of parents worried for their now missing daughters and a missing person report going out for Inko and Izuku.

As for our now, missing people. They had appeared in the indoor garden of some kind of underwater castle. Where they immediately started drowning from the lack of air. But when they thought that it was going to be where their lives ended. The giant clam opened up and spat out 4 different colored spheres. That enveloped the 4 of them, forcing them to curl up. Then they began to feel very sleepy. Unaware of the changes that were about to follow. The giant clam sucked in the 4 spheres and closed. To keep them safe during whatever changes that would follow.

(End of Flashback)

And that brings things back to the present. With the 4 staying in this state for at least another week.

Apparently, a week had passed. Before the giant clam was able to release the 4 of them from inside its mouth. And when it did, it let the 4 spheres land at the base of the fountain. Before the giant clam began to act as though it was just another piece of the fountain. While the 4 spheres released the people that they held inside for the entire week. When the spheres did, the 4 people uncurled themselves from the position and just laid there unconscious for a while longer. Then the spheres disappeared as if they never existed.

The 4 had gone through some major changes. First off, their legs and feet had been replaced by fish tail. Though their tails were different colors. Ochako was pink, Nejire was blue and both Izuku and Inko's were the same shade of green. Though Izuku went through some more changes than his mother, Ochako and Nejire. Since he got turned into a she, during his transformation into a merfolk.

As for their beach attire. They were replaced by beautifully designed dresses that were fit for royalty. Somehow Inko wound up getting a crown, fit for a queen. While Izuku got a tiara, fit for a princess.

It was another half an hour before Izuku started to come too. And the first thing he noticed was his new tail fin, followed by him noticing he was in a dress meant for a girl. Then he looked at his new tail fin and then at the dress he was in. Before he swam as quickly as he could with his new tail over to Inko. Who was still out cold at the time.

Then Inko was startled awake by Izuku swimming into her and started hugging her. "Izuku. What's going on?" Asked Inko, as she assumed, that Izuku had a nightmare again. Then she noticed Izuku's green tail. Then she felt Izuku's hair was longer than normal, that was straight and smooth and went to her lower back. Followed by her removing Izuku from her. Only to see Izuku, looking like a girl version of her son, in a beautiful green, light teal, and white dress, and light teal-colored gloves that went to her mid upper arms, with a tiara on her head. And the one thing that had her attention was the green tail.

Then she turned her head towards Ochako and saw her in a pink, light pink and white dress, with pink gloves, wrapped in ribbons, that went to her elbow. While having 2 pink ribbons placed on either her head, in her hair. She also noticed that Ochako had a pink tail, instead of legs.

While Nejire was in a royal blue, sky blue and turquoise dress. With a big blue bow in her hair, while the rest of her hair came down in a low ponytail of sorts. Along with a blue tail, instead of legs.

Then she looked down and noticed that her legs had been replaced, with a green tail and fin just like her son now daughter. Except she was in an emerald green and light emerald green dress, with ribbons of the same light emerald green as well. Finally, she moved one of hands and felt her hair. And found it in a bun, with a length of hair extending to her lower back. Along with feeling a crown on her head.

Then she looked around and noticed that they were in the gardens of some kind of castle, as mermaids. So, she did the only thing she could do at that point. And that was to just hug Izuku and blame herself for the situation that they were in. Just like when she blamed herself for failing as a mother and for Izuku being Quirkless.

"Um, excuse. I know, this isn't my place to say this. But you really shouldn't blame yourself for something beyond your control." Said a voice, from off to the side. Causing Inko to turn her head in the direction of the voice and notice a mermaid that was floating in front of her.

"Who are you?" Asked Inko, her son turned daughter even tighter, as she eyed the Mermaid.

"Aw, where are my manners? My name, Amelia. I'm one of the caretakers of the castle." Said Amelia, as she took a bow. Then she noticed the crowns and the outfits on Inko and Izuku's head. "Though I wasn't expecting to meet the next Queen and Princess of the entire Pacific Ocean."

Causing Inko to become confused at the fact that she and Izuku had become the Queen and Princess. "Were you 4 recently transformed, by any chance?" Asked Amelia, causing Inko to gain a confused look at Amelia's question. "I'm going to take your confused look as a yes, to my question." As she sighed, remembering that those who were just transformed had limited knowledge of what was going on. And may have trouble adapting to their new tail.

Then Amelia proceeded to explain to Inko, that the ocean itself chooses who becomes the ruler of the 1 ocean that he or she is in. And her daughter would become the princess of the ocean. Inko corrected her by saying that her new daughter was her son. Which caused Amelia to drag her hand down her face. While causing Amelia to mutter something along the lines of, "Her son may have that condition. Since he was turned from a human boy into a mermaid." Which caused Inko to wonder, what did she mean by, he might have that condition.

"What do you mean by my son turned daughter? May have a condition from the transformation into a mermaid." Asked Inko, becoming concerned about Izuku. While Izuku became curious too about what may have happened to him.

"Okay, Inko. There's a chance during the transformation that during Izuku into a mermaid. That he may have kept his genitals from when he was a boy. Instead of them becoming a girl's genitals." Said Amelia, as she floated there in front of them. Hoping that this information may explain something. While Inko thought over the information, she was told and blushed. Izuku blushed as well and moved his hands to where he thought genitals were on his tail. Amelia saw the look on their faces. "Before you ask, this condition can be either permanent or temporary. Though I think we should have the castle's doctor look at Izuku just to be sure about his condition. Along with you and these 2 unconscious mermaids as well." As Amelia began checking their vitals.

"Um…Amelia. They were human like us and they became mermaids." Said Inko, correcting Amelia about Ochako and Nejire.

Causing Amelia to rub her eyes due to the stress, that situation was starting to cause her. "Okay. How long have you been a mermaid?" asked Amelia, sounding tired from where this conversation was going.

"Um. I don't think for that long. My son, I mean daughter woke me up, maybe 10-15minutes before you found us. And then I noticed we were mermaids in an underwater castle." Said Inko, as Izuku nodded, still blushing and while keeping his hands at one spot on his new tail. (Yeah, it was going to take a while for Izuku to get used to his new body and being a girl as well.)

"Great. They were recently transformed and probably know little to nothing. About the situation or the position that they are in." Thought Amelia, as she brought her hand to her face. "Well then." Said Amelia, sighing, as she tried not to cringe at the situation, that the 4 were in. "I think you 2, plus the other 2 unconscious mermaids. May want to get that checkup as well. Then once you've been cleared. We'll start getting you 4 used to your new tails. Along with teaching some things, you do not know." Getting a nod Inko. "Now, if you'll excuse me will quick. I'll go and get a few of the guards to help me to move the 2 unconscious mermaids to our healing chambers and have them looked over. While you get a check there as well." She added, as she got up. Before she swam off to get a few of the guards to help move Ochako and Nejire to the healer's Chamber.

Eventually, Amelia returned with a few of the guards. While Inko had noticed that a majority of them were mermaids. And that caused her to raise a few questions about why there were so many mermaids. Then Amelia guided the guards over to the still unconscious Ochako and Nejire. Who put them on some stretchers to take them to healing chambers. Where they would be taken care of until they woke up.

Before one of the guards swam over to Inko and Izuku and asked if they could swim on their own. But Amelia told the guard that the 2, plus the 2 that were still unconscious had just finished their transformations into mermaids. And might not know how to swim with their tails yet. So, the guard called some guards over to help them get to the healing chambers.

Eventually, the guards had helped the 4 to the healing chambers and had placed Ochako and Nejire in 2 of the multiple clamshell beds in the chamber. Before Inko and Izuku were asked to sit down on 1 of the beds and wait for the castle's doctor. Whom Amelia had gone to fetch the castle's doctor, while they had to wait for her return.

"So, mom. How do you feel about the 4 of us becoming mermaids?" Asked Izuku, you can clearly hear the embarrassment still in her voice and still see a bit of a blush. Still feeling a bit embarrassed by the fact that he was turned into a girl and she may have a boy's genitals.

"Let me be honest with you, Izuku." Said Inko, as she took a deep breath. "When I woke up today. I was hoping for a nice quiet day at the beach. I wasn't expecting to become a mermaid. Especially after, we were told that you were Quirkless." As Izuku remembers the day, they were told that he was Quirkless. "I became stressed over the thought that I had failed as a mother."

Upon hearing that her mother thought that she had failed as a mother. Izuku gave her a hug, hoping that it would cheer her up. Which surprised Inko, when Izuku hugged her. "But you didn't fail as a mother. You still have me." Said Izuku, trying to cheer up Inko. Which caused Inko to think that maybe she hadn't failed as a mother, as she returned the hug.

Unfortunately, the moment was ruined, when they heard someone in one of the other beds stir. Causing them to turn towards the bed that Ochako was in. To see her beginning to stir and sit up in her bed. And with a big yawn, while rubbing her eyes.

"Izuku? *Yawn* What's going on?" Asked Ochako, as she continued to rub the sleep out of her eyes. Before she moved her tail over the side of the bed and stretched, still having a tired look on her face.

After she had finished stretching, Ochako placed her hands on her tail. Causing her to wonder why she was feeling scales. As she looked down and noticed a few things. The first thing she noticed was that she was wearing a dress of some kind. The second was that she had noticed that her legs had been replaced with a pink tail. So, she did the one thing any child would at her age. And that was to scream in panic.

Unfortunately, all of the merfolk. Who had been around long enough to recognize the type of scream. That could only come from a recently transformed merfolk. Who had been transformed against their will and had just found out that they had been transformed into a mermaid or merman.

While Amelia and the castle doctor were just outside the healing chambers. When they heard the scream. The doctor could only shake her head. While she thought back, to why she had taken the position in the first place. Though Amelia could only sympathize with Ochako. Since she knew, that mers. Who found that they had been transformed into merfolk, against their will to save their lives. Were known to scream in panic, when they found out. That they had been transformed into merfolk.

So, they decided to wait outside the door. Until whoever was panicking or screaming had calmed down.

While waiting for Ochako was able to calm down during her panic-like state for Inko to explain to her. What's been going on around them. As for Nejire. She was woken up to Ochako's crying. Then she took a quick look around, and noticed that they all had dresses, and their tails and fins. All she did was shrug her shoulders and went back to sleep.

"How is she so relaxed in our current situation?" Was the thought that ran through their heads.

Unfortunately, the moment was ruined, when I heard the healing chambers door open. And saw Amelia swim in with an unknown mermaid.

"Just to let the 3 of you know. You could have continued and we would have waited for you to finish." Said the doctor, from where she was sitting at her desk. "Oh, and by the way, my name is Luche. The castle's main doctor."

Before Luche noticed the crown on Inko's head and the tiara in Izuku's hair. Then she gestured for Amelia to come over to her. "Is there anything else you want to tell me? Besides the fact that they had recently finished the transformation. And didn't tell me that the older mermaid over there is the ruler of the entire Pacific Ocean. Along with her daughter being the princess, as well." Asked Luche, as she whispered in Amelia's ear.

"Actually, they're mother and son. And the son was turned into a mermaid. So, you may want to check that spot for that condition." Said Amelia, as she whispered in return. While Luche could only slap her own forehead at the information. Before Luche let out a sigh. Since she knew about the condition she was talking about and how much of a pain it could be at times.

After taking a deep breath and sighing. "Might as well get started." Said Luche, to herself. As she started taking out everything, she would need to give the 4 a checkup on their health. "Oh brother. Now I'm going to need to check for a hill or valley on the princess's tail. When I get to her." Was the thought that ran through Luche's head. While she was getting things ready to give the 4 a checkup.

Eventually Luche was able to get on their checkup and found that they were in good health. Eventually came the part, where she would have to touch a certain spot on Izuku's tail, to see if she had the condition.

"Izuku, I would like to mention this ahead of time. But I'm going to need you to lay down on the bed." Said Luche, as she told the boy turned girl to lay on the bed.

"Why?" Asked Izuku, slightly curious about why Luche was asking him to lie on the bed.

"Because I need to check a certain spot on your tail. To see if you have a certain medical condition. Those boy's, who became mermaids may have." Said Luche, as Izuku nodded. Before lying down on the bed, as flat as possible.

"May I please have more information on the condition my son turned daughter may have?" Asked Inko, concerned for Izuku. While Izuku once again had a blush on her face.

"Certainly, Inko. After I finish with son turned daughter." Said Luche, as she began feeling around a certain spot on Izuku's tail for something. Nodding her head occasionally, while mentally taking notes. After 10 minutes of checking the spot on Izuku's tail, she finally came to the conclusion. "First off, you're daughter Inko. Doesn't have the condition. Second, is that I'm going to start coming up with a plan. So, that you 4 can start getting used to living under the sea and getting used to your new tails. Then…" As she turned to Amelia. Causing her to gain a "What?" look. While Luche could only sigh. "Amelia here. Is going to find you 4 to find a tutor to learn about as much as possible down here. Though in Inko's case, she'll have to learn what she can. Since she'll have to split her duties, between learning and her royal duties. Since she's currently the queen of the Pacific Ocean."

"Would that make me the princess of the Pacific Ocean?" Ask Izuku, getting a nod from Luche. As Luche swam back to her seat at her desk. Nejire and Ochako had a look of surprise on their faces, as they looked at Izuku. From the news, that they had heard.

Then they heard 3 stomachs growl. Causing Luche to laugh, before gesturing to Amelia to take the 3 to the dining hall or the kitchens, to get the 3 something to eat. While she and Inko would meet up with them later. After getting a nod from Amelia and guiding the 3 out of the room. Along with giving the 3 children a lesson on how to swim with their tails.

Luche turned to Inko. "Okay, Inko was it?" Asked Luche, getting a nod from Inko. Before getting to the point "Do you know that certain species of fish can change genders?"

"No. I did not know that certain fish did that." Said Inko, as she became confused on why Luche asked the question.

"Well, Inko. We mermaids are like those fish in certain ways." Said Luche, as Inko gained a confused look, to what Luche was talking about. "Except, we mermaids stay girls and do not go through a complete gender change. We mainly go through a change in genitals that will allow a mermaid to get another mermaid pregnant. Mermen on the other hand stay 100% boys." Getting another nod from Inko.

"So, what does this have to do with my son? I mean daughter." Asked Inko, who was becoming even more curious about the condition.

"I was getting to that." Said Luche, since the subject was never the easiest to talk about. "Usually, human boys would become mermen. But there's an off chance that the human boy in question would become a mermaid instead of a merman. But there's an even rarer chance of the boy in question. Becoming a mermaid, while keeping the male genitals in the first place. Unfortunately, this will carry over to the boy turned mermaid, human form. And yes, we can change into our human forms." As Luche saw, she now had Inko's attention. Since Inko had sensed a big but in this conversation. "But, whether or not. They'll keep the ability to change genitals. That all mermaids possess. We usually have to wait until either the transformation finishes or her teenage years hit. Since most mermaids mainly start to experience these changes in their genitals in their teenage years, so to speak." While Inko began thinking about what could have happened to her new daughter. (Note from the writer: Yes. There are fish and animals out there. That can change genders like this.)

"Did you really have to explain it like that?" Asked Amelia, as she gave Luche a look. While swimming back into the room. After Izuku had asked her to get Inko so that they could eat together. Since she was still a little nervous about being a girl. Since it was an order from the princess. Amelia couldn't disobey it and had gone to fetch Inko.

"Did you have any better ways of explaining it, to a recently transformed mermaid and a mother? Who's concerned about her child's wellbeing?" Asked Luche, as she leaned back in her seashell chair. Which caused Amelia to hit her over the head for the comment. Causing Luche to glare at her, while rubbing the back of her head to ease the pain. While Amelia couldn't make a comeback to argue with Luche's question.

"Well either way, Izuku has asked me to fetch Inko. So, the 4 can eat together. Since she's the princess, I can hardly disobey her. Though it may be due to the fact that she's still nervous about being turned into a mermaid." Said Amelia, from where she was floating. "Since she was born a boy." Then Inko, who had been lost in thought. Thinking of the information that she had heard from the doctor. When she heard stomach finally started growling. Letting her know that it was finally time for her to get something to eat. "And it looked like that growl couldn't have come at a better time." Luche could only place her hand on her face and shake her in shame at the joke. While Inko had a small blush on her face, as her stomach continued to growl in hunger. "Come on, Inko. I'll help you to the dining hall. While I start teaching you, how to swim with your new tail." Getting a nod from Inko.

"Thank you, for the help, Amelia. Considering I need to get used to my new tail." Said Inko, as she gestured to her new tail. "Though I would like to see my new throne, if possible?" Getting a nod from Amelia. Who agreed to it.

After the 2 had left the room, with Amelia teaching Inko the first steps to swimming, with her tail. "Yeah, sure. Don't mind me. Leave me to do the work and come up with a routine for the 4 to get used to living under the sea." Said Luche, complaining, as she got some paper and got to work coming up with a routine for the 4.

Meanwhile Inko, with help from Amelia. Had awkwardly and clumsily swam into the dining hall. Beginning to understand how to swim with her tail. But she still had a long way to go.

Then she noticed her new daughter and her 2 friends. Sitting at the table in the room, looking like they were waiting for something.

"If you're wondering. We're omnivores and can eat whatever humans eat. But it's incredibly hard to get things from the surface. So, you may want to avoid ordering food from the service." Amelia, pointing out, "Though we do have a very good variety of seafood." While Inko could only sigh and roll her eyes at Amelia's joke.

Then Amelia proceeded to guide Inko to her seat at the head of the table. Where Izuku, Ochako and Nejire were sitting.

"Now, if you'll excuse me. I'll need to get back to my duties here at the castle. I'll be back to check up on you later. If you have any questions just ask." Said Amelia, as she began to swim off to continue her duties.

"Um, Amelia. I have one more question, before you go." Asked Inko, causing Amelia to turn back to her. "You wouldn't happen to know what time it is?"

Causing Amelia to think on the question. "I need to check the nearest clock. Since it's hard to tell time. When you can't see the sun. Because how deep the castle is in the ocean." From how deep they were in the ocean. "Though if I had to guess, its currently 5 to 7pm in the evening."

Inko gained a look of surprise at how late it was. Before she brought her hand to her chin and leaned on it, while gaining a look. "This is going to take a while to get used to our new situation."

When she heard a door open and saw someone poke their head into the room. Upon seeing the crown on Inko and Izuku's heads. The merfolk immediately brought their head back into the room. Then they heard a crash, followed by yelling and other noises, that brought everyone. Some of the words, that could be pointed out. Were words like, royal, queen, and "get something ready for them." Before someone came out, with some food for them. It Looked like she was hit by a bunch of food, while someone was trying to prepare something.

"Here's your food." Said the mermaid, with a sigh in her voice. "Now, if you excuse me. My Queen." She added, with a bow. "I need to get clean and change my uniform." As she swam off. Causing the 4 to gain a confused look. Thus, causing them to have a quiet dinner, with the occasional question.

An hour had passed and they were just finishing up dinner. When Amelia swam back into the room and took a seat at the table.

"I take, that this is going to take some getting used to. Isn't it?" asked Amelia, getting a nod from the 4 of them. "It took me a while to get used to working here. And I'm from one of the Alaska Colonies." Causing them to gain a look of surprise. "I know, I know. It's a surprise. Well, you may want to get used to it." Causing Inko to raise an eyebrow in confusion. "Because Inko, you rule the entire Pacific Ocean. And your son turned daughter will inherit the throne from you." Getting their attention once again. Thus, the conversation continued on for a while longer.

"Well, Amelia. Thank you for revealing this information to help us." Said Inko, as she was trying to process the Information. "But, can I ask you something?" Not sure how to ask the question.

"Sure, ask whatever you need of me." Said Amelia, wondering what Inko wanted to ask.

"Since it you have done so much for me, my new daughter, and her 2 friends. Is it possible to appoint you as our personal head maid, until further notice?" Said Inko, wondering if it was possible. While Amelia could only look on in surprise at the request.

"Certainly, I can accept the request. What is it, that you would like me to do?" Asked Amelia, wondering what her queen wanted her to do.

"I'm just asking until the 4 of us have adjusted to living down here. And I and Izuku have to adjust to our new royal duties?" Asked Inko, wondering if Amelia would take the position.

"I would be honored to take the position." Said Amelia, standing up and bowing to Inko from such an honor and position. "What is your first request?" Still surprised by the request.

"Well, Amelia. My first…" Said Inko, before she was interrupted by a few yawns. "I think, my first request. Will be to get these 3 to bed and I would like them brought to my chambers. So, they can get ready for bed. Since it has most likely been a very long day for us." As Inko smiled at the 3 children in front of her.

"It will most certainly be done. My Queen." Said Amelia, still standing. "Just let me get a few maids and tell a few to bring some tops to your chambers. Since I doubt that you would like to go to sleep in the dresses. That you are currently wearing." After receiving a thank you from Inko. Amelia swam off to get some of the maids to help her.

A few minutes later, Amelia returned with some of the maids. They gently picked up the almost asleep children and carried them to Inko's new bedroom. With a few help Inko swim as well.

When they arrived at the bedroom. Inko noticed a few of the maids carrying some tops for them to wear. Along with noticing, that the bed was a giant clamshell, with a mattress, pillows and blankets in it. When asked about the colors. They replied that it was the only colors. That they could get under such short notice.

Once in the room, the maids sat the 3 children on the bed. Though the 3 looked like they could go to sleep any minute. Thus, began removing the dresses that they were wearing. Before they put the tops on. Along with brushing their hair. While making sure to put Ochako ribbons and Nejire's bow back in their hair. Though they were kind enough to put Izuku's tiara in a special case. Before placing it on one of the 2 bedside nightstands. Before they could get them under the blankets and tucked in for the night.

While Inko sat in front of her own vanity mirror and got the same treatment. Except her crown was placed in a different case and placed on one side of her vanity mirror. Followed by them helping her to the bed. Where she sat down on the side of the bed and thanked them for their help. Before they left the room. While dimming the lights enough for them to get some sleep.

Finally done with the first chapter. Which is the hardest chapter to start a fanfic.
