Chapter 2
Emmett's P.O.V
After I fell off the building, I blended into the crowd and managed to quickly duck into an alleyway. I kept running until I made it to 5th avenue and hid in the shadows.
'Looks like I gave them the slip.' I thought as look over the corner and didn't see the turtles follow me.
'Well, the job's not over yet.' I thought as I look down at the bag of money that's still in my hands. I pull my hood up as I tuck the bag into my pocket. Then I head back to the purple dragon's headquarters.
After walking through an ally or two, I reached my destination. I walk towards the entrance and head towards one of the guards. I flash him our sign and he lets me pass without any problems. As I enter the dragon's den {No pun intended.}I notice that everyone is focused on the fighting ring where some nubbies are being inducted into our group. As I make my way to the boss's office, I'm stopped by his goons that guard his door. They are about the same height and muscle mass, but one of them has brown hair and the other one is blond.
"What do you want a kid?" Asks the brown-haired one.
"I have some business with Hun," I said coldly as I walk around them. Suddenly an arm comes between me and the door.
"Move before I make you," I warned as I continue to look forward.
"Heh; as some punk little kid can-" the blond-haired one said, but I cut him off mid-sentence as I twist the brown-haired one's arm and then judo flipped him over my shoulder and down the stairs then I glare at the blond-haired one. In my mind, I'm thinking, 'Make your move.' as I take my stance and prepare to fight. He freaks out and steps out of the way, letting me pass.
'Hmph Coward' I thought as I open the door and enter Hun's room. When I step in, it resembles your traditional business office. With everything from file cabinets to leather couches on one side of the room.
"Welcome back; I was thinking that you wouldn't show up." Said from behind his desk. Alongside him, I notice that Dragon Face came back.
"It's good to see you back in one piece my little Dragon Girl." He said as he calls me by his little pet name for me, shocking Dragon Face.
"Nothing I couldn't handle," I said coldly as I stand in front of his desk.
"Y-you're a girl?" Dragon face said as his words stuttered.
"Yeah, I'm a girl. I guess if you had any brain cells left from all the drugs you've taken and from all the chemicals that went into that dragon on your face, you would have figured it out." I said coldly as I take my hoodie and mouth mask off.
"What did you say?" He asks as steps forward from behind the desk.
"You heard me," I said coldly as I glare at him.
"Why you." He said as his anger rises.
"What are you gonna do? Run with your tail between your legs, just like you did when those turtles came." I said coldly as I step closer and stand face to face with him.
"I-I" Dragon face said as he tries to get his words in order.
"That's what I thought. And if you breathe so much of a word about my gender," I said, suddenly I punch my right to his face but stop only inches from his face. "You will feel the heat of my fire," I said coldly as I continue to glare daggers at him.
"So those freaks showed up again?" Hun said as he clutches his fists together in anger.
"Yeah, but they didn't stop me. In fact, they were no match for me." I said confidently as I toss him the bag of cash on his desk, making it open and the cash fall out.
"Good. I'm glad to see my little investment is doing its job." Hun said as he grabs the money and flips through the small stack of cash. Then he separates the money and then pushes forward my cut.
"Always a pleaser," I said sarcastically as I stuff the money in my hoodie pockets.
"So we're paying this chick?" Dragon face said surprised.
"She deserves it. She is very reliable and is able to get the job done; unlike some," Hun said coldly as he slams his fists on his desk.
"Now get out." He said in a low growl to Dragon face. He freaks out at first and then leaves the room.
"Dragon Girl, I have a question for you," Hun said as he stands up from his desk.
"I've got an answer," I said as he walks towards me and stops in front of me.
"Why do you hide your true self from the gang?" he asks as he looks down at me.
"It's like I said before, so I don't destroy the order that is here," I said as I look up at him.
"I know, but there's more to it. Tell me," he said.
"I have something that I'm willing to do anything for," I said as I turn around and head for the door. Suddenly I stop at the sound of his chuckle.
"Something that's wreath giving your life and branding yourself with our sign." He said.
"Yes," I said and then open the door and walk out. I make my way back down the stairs and past the fighting ring. Once I'm outside, I duck into an ally and then quickly pull my mask and hoodie back on. When I feel it fully on, I make my way back to the hardware store.
Arthur's P.O.V
Donny and Leo enter their lair with Mikey and Raph sour from their fight with the strange boy they encountered.
"Man, for a street thug, that guy knows how to fight," Raph said as Leo places him down on their couch.
"I'll say, I think my bruises have bruises," Mickey said as Donny gently places him next to Raph.
"My sons, you've returned so soon?" Said a voice, they look and see their master and father walk towards them.
"What has happened?" He asks as he notices his other two students in pain.
"Master Splinter, we came across a strange boy on our night patrol. We meet him with the purple dragons when they robbed a pond store." Donny explains as Splinter walks towards Raph and Mikey and examines their wounds.
"What do you mean strange?" Splinter asks.
"This boy, whoever he is; he took Raph and Mikey down with some sort of fighting style that we've never seen before," Leo explains as he sits next to his mater.
"What is this style that you speak of?" Splinter asks as he looks at his oldest son.
"He moved something like this," Leo said as he demonstrates the strange moves the boy performed. Master splinter studies the moves carefully as Leo recreates the same moves. When Leo finishes, Splinter thinks for a moment and then speaks.
"My son's I've seen these moves before." He said to his sons.
"What do you mean Sensei?" Leo asks.
"There was someone that my former master and I once knew that knew these styles that you just performed." He explains as he stands on his feet and walks back to his room. "I will meditate on this." He said and then closes his door leaving the turtles wondering with so many questions.
All is quiet until Mickey speaks, "So any idea what Sensei said."
"Not a clue," Donny said.
"Nothing," Raph said.
"I don't know, but only time will tell," Leo said as he looks back at their master's room.
Inside Splinter's room
Splinter's P.O.V
After I spoke to my sons, I walk into my room and walk towards my shelf and pull a shoebox. Inside I have some things. I was able to salvage from our old home after it was destroyed by those evil robots. As I dig through I found an old photo of my beloved master and me standing with a family that we once knew. After the accident that happened to that kind-hearted family, we never saw them again.
"Could it be, my old friend?" I said as I close the box and place it back on the shelf. I then place the picture on the table in front of me and begin to meditate.
Outside the hardware store
Arthur's P.O.V
After about a few minutes Emmitt is only a few feet away from the hardware store. He ducks into the alley next to him and pulls out a rope bag from a secret hiding spot. Then he begins to change. He takes off his hoodie, putting his money in his pants pocket, and then his mask then stuffs them into the bag. Once they're inside he takes off his beanie and then finally pulling his hair, showing that it's a wig, then undo the bun on his head letting his hair fall down revealing that Emmett is a girl. When she stuffs the last amount of her disguise into her bag, she pulls out a pair of black palm gloves and puts them on covering her dragon tattoo. She pulls out a pocket mirror and looks at herself to see if she needs to fix or hide anything. When she is has everything packed inside her bag, and she swings it over her shoulders.
The sound of a bell chimes, signaling everyone in the shop that someone has entered. Everyone looks and sees the young girl closing the door behind her.
"Oh Evelyn, welcome back. Did you take care of what you needed to do?" Said the elderly Chinese shop owner as he approaches the girl.
"Yes Heng, which reminds me," Evelyn said as she reaches into her pocket as she walks towards the man. She pulls out her money and gives him half of what she has.
"Here, this should help pay the rent space for a couple of weeks." She said with a smile.
"No, I can't accept this much Evelyn." Mr. Heng said refusing the young girl's kindness as she gives her back the money.
"Please, I want to thank both you and Jiao for all that you've done for my brothers and me," Evelyn said as she pushes his hands gently back to the old man.
(Speaking in Chinese)
"Thank you so much." Mr. Heng asks looking at her and then bows.
"Happy to help," Evelyn replied as she bows back to the man.
(Back to English)
"Oh, Evelyn you've returned." Said a frail old voice coming from above them. Coming down the stairs, an elderly woman with her hair up in a bun. Then two more footsteps follow behind her as two young boys peek out from the stairs.
"Sis," Said the youngest boy.
"Welcome back Eve." Said the oldest boy.
"Hey, you two it's time to go," Evelyn said to the two young boys.
"Bye Jiao. Bye Heng" Said the young boys as they walk towards the elderly couple and hugs them.
"Goodbye Raimundo. Goodbye Gregory," they said.
"Goodbye, and thank you, Heng and Jiao," Evelyn said as she walks towards them and hugs them too.
"Goodbye, Evelyn." They said as they return the hugs they received from the children.
"Alright bros, let's head home," Evelyn said to her brothers.
"Yeah," the two boys said together as the siblings leave the store and head home.
At their home
When the sibling returned to their home, they open the door that is almost out of its hinges. Once inside Evelyn walks towards the kitchen and opens one of the cabinets and pulls out some cans of soups and prepares to make dinner.
"What do you guys want in your soups?" Evelyn asks her brothers.
"I want chicken in mine." Said the youngest boy.
"Ooh, that sounds good. I want some chicken in mine too Eve." Said the older boy.
"Coming up," Evelyn said with a smile as she makes their food.
"Great news Eve." Said the oldest brother to Evelyn.
"What is it, Greg?" She asks.
"I'll be able to get the lights to work," Greg said happily.
"Really now?" Evelyn asks surprised.
"Shiro gave me a part that was missing for our lawnmower powered generator. And now we'll be able to have control over the lights." Greg said as he pulls out apart from his pocket and then grabs a flashlight and runs to the breaker box in their old house.
"Be careful Greg!" Evelyn cries out to her brother.
"And what did you do at Heng's shop Rai?" Evelyn asks her youngest brother.
"I helped Jiao around the house and she rewarded me with one of her cookies. Oh, I almost forgot, she wanted me to give this to you." He said as he pulls out a small bag with three pieces of cookies inside.
"Greg and I already had some so she saved some for you," Rai said as he smiles sweetly at his older sister.
"Aw thank you." She said as she pulls him into a small hug. Suddenly the light comes on and the two siblings cheer with delight at how successful their other sibling was.
"And Greg; said let there be light," Greg said as he walks back into the kitchen.
"Way to go, Greg," Evelyn said as she raises her hand giving him a high five.
"That's how I roll," Greg said confidently.
"Well here's to your success. Chicken noodle soup." Evelyn said as she serves her brothers a bowl and the small family eats and enjoys their meal. After they finish, they all head upstairs and prepare for bed. When Evelyn finishes changing, she joins her brothers in the biggest room in the old house and lights a couple of lanterns for her brothers to use as a night light.
"Eve, Are you going to work tomorrow?" Rai asks as he climbs into his twin-sized bed with Greg.
"No, I'm off tomorrow." She said as she finishes lighting the last lanterns.
"Can we go to the park?" Rai asks.
"Yeah, can we?" Greg asks.
"Sure; hey since I got paid we can go to the zoo while we're there." She said as she gets up and sits beside their bed.
"Yeah!"They both said excitedly.
"Alright then. Now let's get some sleep." Evelyn said as she pulls the blanket over her brothers and tucks them in.
"Eve, can you sing that song?" Rai asks.
"Which one?" She asks as she looks at him.
"The one dad always sang," Rai asks as he cuddles deeper into the warm blanket.
"Sure," Evelyn said with a smile and then takes a deep breath and begins to sing their father's lullaby.
As she sings her brothers fall into a deep and peaceful sleep to the sound of their sister's voice. When the song ends, Evelyn kisses her brother's goodnight and slips into her sleeping bag, and fall to sleep.
