Chapter 4
Arthur's P.O.V
"Rest easy New York, for Michelangelo is watching over you. Nothing will happen on my watch." Mikey said dramatically as he stands at the top of a small water tower, overlooking the city street.
"Come on Mikey focus. We're supposed to be on the lookout." Donny strictly said hopping to the next roof.
"Yeah...Yeah..." Mikey annoyed as his brother ruins his heroic moment.
"Do you think we'll run into that boy again Leo?" Donny asks as he looks at his blue masked brother.
"I hope so; I got a score to settle with that punk." Said their red masked brother as he gets up from resting on a pole and twirls his Sais.
"Relax Raph; I'm sure we'll run into him. We just have to wait." Leo said to his brothers and then looks out into the city streets. "Do you guys see anything?" He asks.
"Zip..."
"Nothing..."
Leo sighed and sat down, leaning on the edge, resting.
"Haha...sucks for you guys. This time I came prepared." Mikey said laughing as pulls out the night vision goggles from the other night.
"Now who's the smartest turtle," Mikey said gloatingly towards his brothers as he puts on the goggles. While Mikey continued bragging, he didn't see Raph jump in front of him and pull the bridge of the goggles and release it.
"Ow...Raph!" Mikey cried out in pain as he lifts up the goggles and rubs the stinging pain on his face.
"Still not you Shell for brain," Raph said with an amused laugh.
"Not funny." Mikey annoyed as he pulls the goggles back over his mask.
Mikey looked through the goggles looking at the entire area that he and his brothers were in. Just then a cab pulls up to the building across the street from the one Mikey was on. A girl, about a year younger than them, gets out of the car with bags of food in each hand. She had brown hair, a little bit past her shoulders wearing a hoodie, unzipped at the top revealing a navy blue shirt. She's also wearing faded blue jeans that are torn at the knees, showing some skin. Then finally he notices that she's wearing black palm gloves. Mikey kept watching her as the other car doors open and two little boys step out with more bags of food in their hands. The oldest of the boys have short brown hair but not as brown as the girl. The youngest boy has greyish hair covered with a cap and goggles. Mikey guessed that they might be related to the older girl. When the boys made it to the sidewalk; the girl placed her bags down and reached for her bag.
"Come on guys, let's go home..." Leo said getting up.
"Come on Mikey!" Raph yelled at his annoying brother.
"Hold on! I'm doing something!" Mikey whined.
At the cab
Evelyn finds her wallet and prepares to open it to pay the cab driver. But her brother Gregory stops her.
"Hey sis; I don't think this is our stop." He said as he and his younger brother, Raimundo, look around and see that they're in the wrong street.
"You're right. This is 246 Madison Dr., not 236 Emerald Lane..." Evelyn said but stopped as her cash is snatched out of her hands.
"Hey!" Evelyn, Gregory, and Raimundo cried out together as the cab driver snatched the cash out of her hands and tuck the money in his pocket.
"Sorry, but you wanted me to dive you to a place so I got you to the place." The cab driver said rudely as he starts the engine.
"Come on is there any way you can drive us to the right street?" Evelyn asks.
"Hmm...there is one thing." The cab driver said then gestures her to come a little closer. "After I drop you and your brothers at home, we go to my place for a little fun." He said sensually as he winks at her.
"How about this..."Evelyn said with a kind smile. Then she looks to her brothers. "Can you guys turn around for a minute?" She said to them and they do as they're told. When Evelyn sees that their backs; she turns to the cab driver and flashes her middle finger at him.
"Heh...when and where the baby." The cab driver said with a playful smirk. This angered Evelyn so much that she takes a stance and sidekicks the driver's door, leaving a big dent. "Hey; don't damage the car or you'll have to pay for it!" the cab driver cried out in anger as he looks at the dent.
"As I care about your piece of junk," Evelyn said as picks up her bags of food and then flashes again her middle finger at the cab driver and then turns around so she and her brothers can begin their journey back home, which unfortunately is another three blocks away.
"When and where the baby. When and where." The cab driver said again with the same smirk as he stops Evelyn in her tracks. Just as he begins to leave; Evelyn gives one powerful sidekick to the back bumper, near the license plate, creating an even bigger bump than the one on the door. This earned a honk from the diver as he drives away.
"The nerve of some people," Evelyn said annoyed as she watches the car's light begin to fade in the dark city streets.
"Yeah what a jerk, no one messes with my sister," Raimundo said as he punches his fist into his palm.
"Heh...Thanks, little bro, but I took care of him and his car." Evelyn said with a wink as she explains to her brother who was acting tuff for his older siblings.
"I know; I saw how big those dents were. That's what he gets for getting you mad, you can be pretty scary." Gregory said with a playful smirk. This causes all three of them to laugh.
"Well might as well get moving. We have about three blocks to get to our home." Evelyn said with a depressed sigh as she and her brother moan at how far they have to walk while carrying their stuff. So with a deep sigh, they begin their journey home.
Back on the Roof
The three kids laugh for a moment that Mikey doesn't know why but guesses it has something to do with the cab driver and the girl leaving two dents in the car. He guessed that the driver said something to tick the girl off and she got mad. He couldn't help but giggle at the girl as she flashed the driver not once but twice with her middle finger and that she told the boys to look away.
"Mikey! Let's go!" Raph said as he hits him on the head. But Mikey ignored him watching the three kids. Something in his gut was telling him that he needed to. They sighed and then the three kids begin to walk around towards the ally that the house was near.
"Oh no...Don't go in the alley! That's the worst thing you can do!" Mickey threw the goggles at Raph and jumped down the building.
"Mikey! What-" Leonardo started. But noticed that three kids are about to walk right into a trap.
"Guys! That ally leads to one of the purple dragon's hangouts!" Donnie yelled and jumped down after Mikey.
Raph and Leo looked at each other.
"Couldn't hurt to get so practice in..." Leo muttered.
"Yeah and you know Mikey's going coz there's a girl involved...heh..." Raph jumped down and ran after his brothers. Leo sighed and joined them as well.
In the alley
"This should get us to our street," Evelyn said as she and her brothers walk down the alley hoping there was a shortcut to their house. The further down the alley the dark it seems to get.
"This place is creeping me out," Raimundo said nervously as he clings to his older brother's arm.
"Rai's right. Are you sure we're going the right way is?" Gregory said as he uses his free hand to pet his scared brother's back.
"I'm sure it is." She said as they turn a corner and continued walking. "At the end of this alley we should be at our street and our house is right on the other-" Evelyn said stopped as she bumped into something...or rather someone. She looked up and saw a band of street thugs that she recognized. The Purple Dragons.
'Shit...I knew this place looked familiar...This is one of the Dragon's hang out spots' Evelyn thought worried as two guys walk towards her.
"Hey, honey...what's for dinner?" One of the men asked.
Evelyn noticed that more came and surrounded her and her brothers. Gregory quickly pushes Raimundo behind him. Then stand protectively in front of him Evelyn stands beside her brother ready for anything.
"Thanks for the goodies Jr. Now run along and play." Another man said as he grabs bags from.
"Hey...we're not looking for trouble guys...If you let us pass...I promise we won't hurt you guys..." Evelyn warned as she places one of her bags down beside her. The men became quiet for a moment until they suddenly burst out laughing at Evelyn's words.
"Yeah right. How could a bunch of kids take down New York's toughest gang?" One of the other men said confidently.
"Like this...THINK FAST!" Evelyn said as she throws her other bag at one guy, making him quickly catch it.
"Heh...so what was that for?" The guy asks as he looks at the bag and looks back at Evelyn.
"This...HIYEAH!" Evelyn said as she jumps in the air and kicks the man in the face, sending him skidding towards the wall.
"GET THEM!!!" the man cried out before he passed out. Evelyn quickly jumps into action.
One of the men run towards her with a steel pipe ready to hit her, but she quickly roundhouse kick the pipe out of his hands and the sidekick him in the chest sending him to the trash can. Then three men charge at Evelyn from the side. With quick thinking; she rolls the milk carton to her and kicks it to one of the men. Then it bounces off his face and Evelyn quickly grabs it by the handle and swings it and knocks the remaining two men in the head, knocking them out. Moving with amazing agility and grace; she fends off as much of the men as she can in order to protect both of her younger brothers.
Gregory as well jumps into action as he protects his younger brother. As one of the men tries to grab Raimundo; Gregory quickly grabs the arm and judo flips him away and into a nearby wall. Another man tries to grab him, but he quickly ducks underneath him. Then he grabs a trash can lid and bangs him square on the head making him crash into another guy and they fall hard to the ground. He continues to guard his younger brother as his older sister handles the rest. He moves with amazing speed and strength for his age. He's skills can almost be matched to his older sister.
Raimundo watches in from his hiding spot as he's amazed at his older siblings fighting still. While he watched in amazement as he couldn't see one of the men come from behind him and grabs him by the shirt.
"LET ME GO!" Raimundo cries out as he tries to wiggle out of the man's hold.
"RAI!" Gregory cries out as he looks back and sees his younger brother being captured. This distracted him and he couldn't see the guy he was fighting grab him in a lock. "EVE!" Gregory cries out as he tries to break free.
"RAI! GREG!" Evelyn cries out as she sees her brother trapped. This gave her opponent a chance to knock her down and kick her into a nearby wall.
"You guys put up a good fight but it's over now." The guys said as he grabs Evelyn and holds her in an arm lock. "Any last words before we bust you and the little brats?" the guys said as he forces her to look at her brothers.
"Yeah...this," Evelyn said as she tries to bear the pain in her arms. "GREG!...SING!" Evelyn said as she looks at Gregory with a smirk on her face.
"Solar Plexus (guts) instep (foot) nose (thing in the middle of your face) and groin (where babies come from)...TAKE THIS!" Gregory said as he followed his sister's order and S.I.N.G. this cause his holder to let him go.{Like this}
Then with a powerful kick in the face and the man falls with a loud thump. Surprising all the thugs.
"RAI! DOUBLE SIDE!" Evelyn said as she looks at Raimundo.
"HIYAH!" Rai cried as he did what his sister told and side kicked his holder in the face twice. This caused his holder to let go of him. Then both Raimundo and Gregory together judo kick the man into a trash can.
"Wow...what the!" the man said as he looks at all of his men are knocked out. Now he's the last man standing against these kids.
"My turn!" Evelyn said as she turns her head to look at her holder. Then with swiftly twists out of the hold and faces the man. The man grabs a wooden bat and charges at her. Evelyn swiftly dodges each swing. Then she begins her attack. As the man charges one more time with the bat; Evelyn focuses her strength and breaks the bat in half with her arms. As the man is shocked by what he's seen; Evelyn takes this opportunity and throws a series of powerful punches and kicks at him. Then finishes with a final and powerful kick; sending him into the wall with a loud thump.
"No one messes with my brother...not while I'm around," Evelyn said as she takes a deep breath and relaxes out of her stance.
"You guys okay?" Evelyn asks her brothers as they walk towards her.
"I'm okay," Raimundo said as his sister gently looks over his to see if he has any cuts, but is happy to see nothing.
"It's all good here," Gregory said as he dusts himself off.
"Alright let pick up what is still good and head home," Evelyn said. Her brothers nod their heads and they begin picking up their food. "Ouch!" Evelyn cries out in pain as she holds her arms, causing her to drop her bags.
"Eve!" Raimundo said worriedly about his sister as he and Gregory rush to her side.
"You okay Sis?" Gregory asks as he places a hand on her shoulder.
"I'm alright; my arm and wrist just sting a little," Evelyn said with a weak smile. Just as she's about to pick up the bags again; Raimundo grabs her bag and carries it. "Rai you don't-"
"I got it, Eve," Raimundo said with a big smile as he helps his big sister, earning a sweet smile from her.
"Let's head home," Evelyn said and they continue their journey home.
On the Roof
On the roof of the building next to the three kids, the four turtles watch in amazement as these three kids take down about 15 guys all by themselves. At first, they thought that they would need to make another turtle rescue, but they soon see that they didn't need to. But they are blown away by the level of skill that these three kids have shown, and they are more amazed by the skill that the girl showed during her final battle.
"Wow," Mikey said still shocked by what he and his brother just saw.
"I'll say; for a bunch of kids they know how to kick butt," Donny said surprised.
"Yeah; and for a girl, she knew how to hold her own," Raph said with an amused look on his face.
As the others continue to talk about the fight that they saw; Leo continues to watch the kids, which he figured that they are siblings after the girl's last words. Something about the way this small family fights it reminds him of something. Especially the girl; something about her seems familiar to Leo.
"Come on guys, let's head back home..." Donny said getting up from their hiding spot. But Leo didn't hear. He's too busy watching the small family. He suddenly jumped when the girl cries out in pain as she holds her arm and wrist. But he became happy when her brothers worry about their sister and help her. It warmed his heart to see that little display of sibling affection.
"Leo?" Mikey asks as he and the others still see their brother watching the small family.
"Yo; Leo" Raph yelled at his annoying brother.
"Huh...what?" Leo asks as he finally hears what his brother said.
"You coming or what?" Raph said as he hits him on the head.
"Uh..." Leo said as he looks from his brothers and back at the small family as they leave the alley. "You guys go on ahead. I'll meet you back at the lair." Leo said. Then before his brothers could respond he jumps off the roof and disappears.
"Okay then; see you there bro," Raph said confused but then shakes it off and follows his other brother's home.
Evelyn's P.O.V
After about five minutes we finally arrived back home. As we come closer to our home; I suddenly sensed a strange presence following us. Just before we near the front porch; I quickly turn back and look at a nearby roof where I feel the strange presence.
"Do you sense it too Eve?" Greg asks. I guess he picked up the strange presence too.
"Yeah," I said still looking at a spot on the roof where I feel the presence. I decided to check out my theory by grabbing a soda can and kicking it up to the roof. When it finally reaches the roof it hits something, but to my surprise, it was nothing but a pigeon.
"I guess it was just my imagination," I said with a chuckle as I walk up the steps and unlock the door.
Once inside we head towards the kitchen and place all the bags on the table. As we sort out the food that somehow managed to survive our battle with the dragons, I noticed that the milk carton is empty which means our plans to make a cake are ruined.
"Sorry guys but our plan to make a cake is ruined," I said sadly as I show them the browsed and empty carton.
"Aw; I wanted to make that cake," Rai said disappointedly.
"Man; if it wasn't for those jerks we'd have our cake," Greg said angered by our encounter with the dragons.
"Don't worry guys next time I get paid, I'll get more milk," I said lighting the mood. "In the meantime; I'll start dinner," I said as I take out a few packs of instant ramen noodles and make three bowls.
After dinner, we all take turns taking a bath and then we head to bed. But before I turn off the lights I thought I saw something jump off a nearby roof, but I shake it off and turn off the lights. Then climb into bed.
Leo's P.O.V
After I finally catch up to the small family; I follow them until they lead me to an old decaying house. I'm surprised to see these three kids live here. I would have thought that they had parents or something, but I guess like some kids in New York they must be orphans or their parents have abandoned them. Just as they are about to enter their home; the girl suddenly stops and looks towards my direction. I quickly duck behind the wall just before she could see me. I hear her and one of her brothers talking; I guess they both sensed me. This both surprises and raises my interest in this small family. As I slowly peek over the edge of the wall; something small barely flies past me. It hits the ground near a pigeon, making it fly away. I hear the girl laugh which I'm guessing she thinks that she was just imagining things so that works to my advantage.
Once they're inside I sneak closer to their home and peek in through the kitchen window and see them put away whatever food they had that was leftover after their fight with the purple dragons. I hear the girl say that they don't have any milk so they can't make a cake. I guess they planned on making it today but after their little brawl their plan is wound. I see the youngest boy's disappointed face and the oldest boy's anger face and can't help but feel sorry for them, but their sister seems to have calmed them down. Then she begins to make dinner the three of them, which was nothing but instant food. It looked like they barely have basic needs like electricity and water. But somehow they seemed to have been making it through. As I watch them get ready for bed; I notice that their older sister's arm is still hurting. I watch as both boys help heal their sister's injury I couldn't help but smile. Even though they don't have everything; they still have each other and they look out for one another. Their bond with each other must be very strong.
'There's must be something I can do to help them.' I thought as I climb up a nearby building. 'I know' I thought as I finally reached the top and jump to the closest building and head back home.
