Chapter 5

As I open my eyes from another dream; I look out the window and see that the sun has barely risen, and it's time to begin my day. I quietly slip out of my sleeping bag and put it away, without disturbing my brother. After I rub my sleepy eyes I get up and begin my normal morning routine. I quietly make my way downstairs, without waking my brother. I'll let them sleep a little longer before I wake them. I look at the clock and see it's still 6 am, still have enough time to do my morning Tai chi. After about fifteen minutes I finish my exercise and start making breakfast.

I open the refrigerator and see what I can make from the food we bought. As I look through all of our food, I couldn't help but feel annoyed that because of me we lost our milk. If I had known about where we were beforehand, we wouldn't have gotten involved with those purple retards. I sigh and take out some toaster waffles. As I place the waffles on the counter; I hear a knock on the door. I quickly jump into a defensive mood, and I quietly walk towards the door. Just before I reached the door, I reach for an old picture frame that holds my father's Tanto sword, which was given to him by an old friend, and hold it in my head, ready should I need to. No one knows about where my brothers and I live; not the purple dragons, Mr. and Ms. Li, or April know where we live. That's why I've created my alter ego, so I can keep my brother out of harm. As I reach the door; I grab the knob and quickly open the door and hold the dagger, ready to fight, but no one is there. I still stand at the ready as I look over the area, from behind and around the porch. Just as I turn around to head back inside; my foot taps something. I look down and see a new full gallon milk carton. I bend down to pick it up but I sense a presence nearby, a familiar presence. I stand back up and look around, from around the corner of the house and street to the rooftops of nearby buildings, and I don't see anything.

"Thank you," I said. I don't know why but I felt that I had to say it. Whether or not anyone is there or it's my own imagination. I take the milk and walk back inside.

"Morning sis," said both of my brothers said as they come down the stairs.

"Morning guys," I said as I close the door. "Hey, guys; look at what was left at our door," I said as I turn to face them and show them the milk.

"Wow," Greg said as he and Rai share a surprised look.

"Where did that come from, sis?" Rai asks as we walk into our kitchen.

"I don't know," I said as I place the milk in the frig.

"Maybe our guardian angel brought it to us," Rai said as he and Greg sit down at the table.

"Why do you say that?" Greg asks as I place glasses in front of them.

"Well, guardian angels are always there to help the people they protect," Rai said with his sweet smile as he begins to wonder about the angel, Greg begins to think about that idea. I couldn't help but think about his theory, as I warm up the waffles.

"Who knows," I said as I serve my brother's their waffles and then some apple juice. "But that's a comforting thought," I said as I serve myself.

"So are you working again tonight, sis?" Greg asks as he continues to eat his food.

"Well I know I have worked this morning, but I'm not sure," I said with a smile as I look at them. "But if I do, I'll have to find a babysitter," I said as I continue to eat my food.

"Okay," Greg said as throws away his trash.

"Alright guys; you guys have your tutoring today and we need to be at the subway train by 8:30. It's already 7: 49, so get what your backpacks and supplies so we can leave." I said as I gather mine and Rai's empty plates and cups and throw them away.

"Okay," Rai and Greg said together. Then they rushed upstairs and get ready for our trip. I follow behind them and walk to my side of the room to pick up some clothes for today. I take off my sweat pants and shirt and go to the bathroom to brush my teeth and my face. After about five minutes; I dry myself off and get ready for the day. I grab some bandage wrappings and I wrap them around my chest, turning my B-cup to a very flat A-cup. After I was satisfied; I get. Then finally; I put on my gloves. Once I'm done; I meet my brother downstairs and we head out the door. By the time we arrived at the subway, the train is on its way. I kiss them goodbye and tell them where to meet me when they come back. When I watch them leave, I grab my bag and wait for my train to take me to my odd job. Since I'm only fifteen and I'm not legally allowed to be working part-time, let alone full time. So I'm doing little odd jobs, like handing out flyers, free samples, and ads for local stores. Today I was lucky to fool this company to let me work at a factory. I'll be helping some of the men move packages and supplies around the building, so I should be able to make a little bit of money. I'm glad that I'm at least making somewhat of an honest living.

Leo's P.O.V

After I finished dropping off our milk carton to the three kids, I couldn't help but feel embarrassed. The way how the youngest boy called me a guardian angel was a first. I've been used to being called a silent hero, but not a guardian angel. I couldn't help but smile to myself as I walked back to our layer, but my thoughts are broken by a loud high pitch scream.

"Someone calls the cops, we've been milk nabbed." Mikey cried as I see him come running out of the kitchen.

"Mikey, what's going on?" Donnie asks as he and Raph come out of their bedrooms.

"Call 911 we need New York's finest to solve this mystery," Mikey said dramatically as he grabs Raph's shoulders and shakes them. The sound of Mikey's high pitch scream causes the last person that I wanted to be up, Master Splinter.

"What is all the commotion?" He said as he walks into the room as we all look at him.

"Ask Mikey," Raph said as he pushes Mikey away from him.

"What is it, Michelangelo?" Master Splinter asks as he walks towards us as we stand on the dojo mat.

"It's awful Master Splinter, just awful. Someone stole our milk." Mikey said as he falls down to his knees and flings his head up into the air and cries out in agony.

"What?" Donnie, Raph, and Master Splinter said together.

"The new milk that April just bought us?" Donnie asks surprised.

"Yes. Our poor milk, it's out there somewhere, so alone. So cold, so delicious." Mikey said dramatically as he rises on his arm and rests the back of his hand against his forehead.

"Relax Mikey, we'll just ask April if she can get us a new one. We still have some money left over from selling my last homemade computer circuits." Donnie said reassuringly, finally calming Mikey down.

"But the question remains, what happened to our milk?" Master Splinter said as he steps in the middle of our circle. "Do you know my sons?" he asks as he looks at each of us.

"No me," Donnie said.

"Not a clue, Sensei," Raph said.

"I wish I knew," Mikey said.

"Leonardo?" He asks as he looks at me. I could feel my cold blood get even colder, but I calm myself and tell him my answer.

"No, I don't," I said with a poker face. He looks at me for a moment and then he nods his head.

"Very well then my sons. We will look into our milk problem later, let us prepare for today's training." He instructed us.

"Yes, Sensei." We all say together. Just as I begin to get ready for our training, Master Splinter calls me into his room. I follow him and close the door behind me then I kneel before him.

"I have taught you many things my son, but lying to your master and father is not one of them." He said sternly. I hang my head in shame that not only was I caught but that I lied. "Now what happened to our milk." He asks calmly. I take a deep breath and then I tell him everything that happened last night and then this morning. I tell him about the three kids and about where they live.

"Tell about these three children my son. What do they look like?" Master Splinter asks.

"Well; the family is made up of two boys and one girl. The oldest is a girl. She looks to be about fifteen years old; she has long dark brown hair and brown eyes. The middle child is one of the boys, he has short dark brown hair, like the girl, but he has a lighter shade of brown eyes. He looks to be about four years younger than the girl. Then the youngest is a little boy who looks to be about nine years old. He has a lighter shade of brown hair, but has the same brown eyes as the girl." I described the three kids. Then I continued telling my story.

"And that's what happened Sensei, it's just. I felt like I had to do something for those kids. " I began. "They're all by themselves. Without a mother or a father to look after them, I just." I said feeling that I should be looking after them.

"It is alright my son, I understand. If what you said about these three children is true, it will please me that you continue to look after these children." Master Splinter said. What surprised me is his tone. It sounded as though he knows these kids.

"Why Sensei?" I ask.

"If what I believe is true; then these children are lost in more ways than one and they need someone to guide them back to the right path." He said as he strokes his fur.

"What do you mean Sensei?" I ask him once again.

"I'm afraid I can't tell you yet my son, but only time will tell." He said as he begins to think about something.

"Alright Sensei, I promise to look after them," I said as I bow my head to him.

"Thank you, my son, now go and get ready for training." Master Splinter said. I bow my head and then leave his room, with my curiosity about these three kids. I still can't get that girl out of my head, something about her seems familiar especially the way she fought off those purple dragons. I feel like I've seen them before.

Inside Splinter's room

Splinter's P.O.V

After my son leaves my room, I look towards my little table that is placed by my bed. I open the drawer and pull out my old photo. As I look at the picture in my hands, my mind travels back to what my son has said about these three kids. The children that Leonardo describes are almost what the three young children look like in the picture, but much younger. Ever since the accident that happened to that kind-hearted family, we heard nothing from them until about a few weeks before my master's death. He told us what happened and that he had to move so he could protect his children, but if what I think is true then these children must be the three children I knew long ago.

"What has happened to you; old friend?" I said as I look at the photo. "Be at ease my friend, you're children are being looked after. They are in good hands." I said as I get up from my seat and place the photo on my shelf, and then I turn around to leave my room so my son's training can begin.
