Extra Scene
Sonic raced along, restless. He'd never seen Tails so upset before. Usually the little guy worshipped the ground he walked on. For Tails to get mad like that, it must've meant he'd really messed up. He couldn't go setting a poor example for Tails. That meant he'd have to listen. Give Amy a chance, huh? Tails was smart, so if he saw something in her, he was probably right.
So Sonic headed to the city. It wasn't hard to pick a pink hedgehog out of a crowd, but Amy didn't seem to be in any crowds today. She must've been at home. No choice then. He didn't really want to encourage her chasing him around, but he supposed she couldn't get any worse. He ran over to her apartment and after a moment of hesitation, knocked on the door.
Sonic heard a voice inside say, "Wonder who that could be?" Then, louder, "Comiiiing!"
The door flung open, and Amy stood there, completely stunned for a moment. Sonic stared back at her with a wary expression, just waiting for the ticking time bomb to go off.
"Aieeee!" With a giant smile on her face, Amy squealed and wriggled around in a gleeful dance. "Sonic, darling! You came to see me?! Does that mean you're here to marry me?!"
As he felt a headache forming from Amy's squealing, Sonic pinched his forehead. This was turning into as much of a disaster as he'd thought it would be. "Hey, could you knock off the marriage stuff for just one second?!" Irritated, he crossed his arms and tapped his foot against the ground again and again.
"But why, Sonic darling?" Amy cooed in a hurt tone.
Exasperated, Sonic sighed and shook his head. "This is serious. I need to talk to you about something… I need to talk to you about Tails."
"Tails?" Amy's expression stiffened, and her demeanor changed at once. "Tails?! Wait, is something wrong? What happened to Tails? Is he hurt?"
"No, it's nothing like that…" Sonic was about to explain, but Amy quickly raised her hand to stop him.
"Wait!" She glanced over her shoulder. "Should we have this talk in private? I've got a friend over."
"I guess that would be best," Sonic said, tapping his foot impatiently.
Amy hurried back into her apartment, then said, "Cream, I've got to go out for a bit. If I don't come back, have your mother pick you up. I'm really sorry."
"Alright, Amy," said another voice. "You don't have to worry about us. We can come back and play some other time."
When Amy returned, she nearly bulldozed right into Sonic. "I know a place! Come on!" She grabbed his arm and dragged him off.
"H-Hey! Knock it off!"
Amy tried to drag him right into Twinkle Park. "I don't think so! This isn't a date, Amy!"
"Alright, alright! Jeez!"
Looking for a different venue, Sonic took her by the arm and zipped away at top speed. Amy let out a terrified scream, as she fluttered in the wind, but Sonic didn't pay much attention. He stopped at the city's park and set her down on a park bench.
"R-Right. So, Tails? Does he need my help?"
"Tails…" Sonic scratched his nose, looking sheepish. "You've been taking good care of him, huh?"
"…I guess? We're friends." Amy seemed a bit confused by the question.
"What do you think of him?"
"He's nice, and really smart, but he's not very confident. He's way too hard on himself sometimes. You know, he idolizes you, Sonic, but if he's comparing himself to you, it's no wonder he can't see how amazing he is."
"You could be right…"
From how Amy changed gears when she spoke about Tails, Sonic could already see he had misjudged her. She really was acting like she was his friend. That was all he really needed to confirm, but he supposed if there was a chance she could help him make up with Tails, it might be worth asking her.
Sonic sighed. "Yeah, it sounds like you really do get Tails… Maybe you know him better than I do… And he definitely knew you better than I did."
"What's this about, Sonic?" Amy asked. "Tails is my friend, so I'll do anything to help him."
"I guess you could say we got in a fight. I said some things, and he got really angry at me and started crying. I think I really messed up this time, and I don't know if I can make it right. Sure hope the little guy doesn't hate me now."
"A fight…? Then…" Pumping her fists and donning a determined look, Amy said, "Then go and talk to him again! Apologize and tell him how much you appreciate him! You've gotta know that what Tails needs more than anything is affection and approval! Your approval!"
Sonic chuckled. "When you say it like that, it sounds easy. But I guess you're right." Apologize. He knew Amy was right. Thinking it through though would take some time. And he needed to find the strength and courage to say what he needed to. "I'm going to go for a long run to clear my head first…"
"N-No, Sonic! You need to go right away!" Amy yelled.
But it was too late. Sonic had already dashed away, leaving Amy alone in the park.
"W-What the? Sonic! What about our park date? Er, I mean, wait… Oh no, Tails! What should I do…? Did Sonic just leave him by himself all this time? Maybe I should go and see if he's alright. Ohh, Cream! But she'll be alright, won't she? Yeah, that's it. I've got to go see Tails!"
