In the early evening of January 18, 1968, a large crowd gathered at the new Arnold's for the Jefferson High School reunion.
It was a very nostalgic event since all of the alum had since built lives of their own in recent years. Richie Cunningham, now 29, had married and had two children of his own and was now living in California with a journalism career after serving in the Army for a few years prior. Ralph Malph and Potsie Weber were also present, Malph now an optometrist, and Potsie now a well established singer. It was the first time the friends had seen one another since Richie's move to California.

"Wow, guys!" Richie said, "It's really great to be back here with old friends!"

"I know, Rich," Potsie replied, "It seems like it's been years since we got together like this!"

"That's because it has been years!" Richie said, shaking his head at Potsie's comment.

"Sit on it, Rich!" Potsie sneered, playfully knocking his friend in the arm, "Gosh, it feels great to say that again after all this time!" he said nostalgically.

"Hey, guys," Ralph Malph interjected, I've got a great joke for you! Did you hear what happened to the snowman's wife when they had their first wedding dance to 'Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me?'"

"What's that, Ralph?" Richie asked, intrigued.

"She 'Mel'ted! Get it, 'Mel'ted? Like Mel Carter!" Ralph busted out laughing at his own joke, "I tell ya, after all these years, I still got it!"

"You sure do, Ralph," Richie agreed, grateful to be among friends again, when he suddenly realized one had not yet arrived.

"Hey, Rich," Ralph again spoke up, as if reading Richie's mind, "Wasn't Fonzie supposed to be here by now?"

"Oh yeah," Richie suddenly remembered, "He should be here soon, he said he had to talk to Leather about the entertainment for today."

He no sooner said that when Fonzie strutted in, still as cool as he ever was, and greeted the rest of the gang.

"Aaaayy, old friends!" he said in his cool manner, he certainly had not changed, "Long time no see!"

"Hey, Fonz," Richie said, "Wasn't Leather supposed to bring that new band by to sing for the reunion?"

"Yeah," Fonzie assured his best friend, "Leather said the band had a bit of trouble with the equipment, but they'll be here."

"Hey, Fonz, what did you say the name of her friend's band was again?" Potsie inquired.

"The Blueberries," Fonzie started to laugh, "Leather says they got the idea after she told her friend about Richie singing Blueberry Hill so many times!"

Just then, Leather walked in with her backup singers, and the Blueberries followed. Fonzie could not help but stare at the Blueberries' lead singer, Rema Relgar, whom Leather had introduced him to the day before, along with the rest of the band.

"Gang!" Leather announced to the Blueberries, "It's show time, let's go! Rema, did you have the songs ready?"

"Yes, Leather," the lead vocalist responded, somewhat annoyed, "We've got it, we've been singing since high school, remember?"

With that, they took their places and the dance started. Fonzie seemed mesmerized by Rema's natural star presence and vocal ability.

After the Blueberries continued to sing a few old familiar numbers, Rema spoke up in a star-like manner, "Okay, everyone, I know all of you know this next number very well!"

The music started, and she began singing the Ronettes' "Be My Baby." Throughout the entire song, she and Fonzie seemed to lock eyes.

After that song finished, Rema introduced the band, "Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for my backup singers, Blair, Gwen and Tamara!" before walking off stage.

Later on...

After the Blueberries finished their set, Rema and the girls sat down at one of the booths and talked, and the guys decided to compliment them.

"Great set, girls!" Potsie said, "I sing also. Rich, Ralph and I used to have our own band."

"Yeah!" Leather laughed, "You guys never did get a name, did you?"

"No, not really," Potsie responded, "Life got in the way. Speaking of which, I better get home. Jennifer gets worried when I'm out late."

"I better get going also," Richie said, "Lori-Beth's probably going crazy with the kids by now, let's go Ralph."

"We'd better get going too, Rema," said the Blueberries' guitarist, Blair, "We have an early gig tomorrow and I want to be well rested!"

"I'll meet you guys in a minute," Rema said, "I have to see about something."

"No problem," laughed Gwen, the bassist, walking out of Arnold's. As the door closed, Rema could swear she heard Gwen say to Blair, "Yeah, I know what she wants to see about!"

"I know, right?" Blair said in the distance, "Did you see her during 'Be My Baby'? She couldn't even concentrate on singing!"

Hearing that, Rema rolled her eyes, and suddenly, Fonzie strutted out of the men's room, muttering to himself, "I thought they'd never leave!"

"Hey, Fonz!" Rema said, excitedly beaming, "Great dance tonight, wasn't it?"

"Yeah," Fonzie said, blushing slightly, "It's been way too long since all of us got together like that, ya know?"

"I'm sure, Fonz," Rema said, "Life does do that to the best of us."

"It sure does." Fonzie said in his cool manner, standing up to turn on the jukebox.

Suddenly, something came over him, and he started to snap his fingers.

Rema quickly put up her hand, stopping him, "You don't have to do that," she said, softly touching his fingers, "I'd love to dance with you!"

Fonz grinned, still unsure of what was happening, "Alright, come here." he said, unable to contain his smile as he strolled over to the jukebox, still holding her hand.

The minute he hit it, Ricky Nelson's "Say You Love Me" began playing, and the two contently danced in each other's arms.
