Pokemon: Eclipse
Chapter 1
The Pokemon World Coronation is an event that determines the strongest trainer in the world, and this year is looking to be the best one yet, with many strong trainers looking to enter, with almost 10,000 entrants! Trainers have one year to reach the top to be placed in the top 16 trainers. And one trainer, in particular, is looking to win it all!
His name was Dax Alexander a trainer that hailed from the Unova region. Although he doesn't have as much fame as others that possibly joined this year's competition, he was in this to prove just how strong he's become. The top 16 better watch out, because a storm is raging, and his name was Dax!
…
The sound of blissful snores could be heard in the middle of the woods. The person was Dax Alexander. He has dark, hazel nut skin. dark violet hair was braided into cornrows on the top and shaved on the shades. His eyes were a deep shade of black, looking like a raven's feathers. He wore a black undershirt with a purple blazer, black pants tucked into violet purple boots, and A pair of shades finished his outfit.
Dax however, was brought out of his sleep by a splash of water drenching his hair. This made the young teenager jolt up out of his sleep. Dax shot up and looked to the side quickly to find out who woke him from his slumber and noticed it was a bipedal turtle-like Pokemon with indigo skin, it has deep brown eyes and a dark blue print on each cheek. On each side of its head were feather-like ears, it also has a thick, wavy tail.
"Wartortle, what the hell!" Dax picked himself up off the floor to look at the pokemon with twitchy eyes.
Dax has had his Wartortle for a while now, having found it in Kanto on a trip. He found it as a small Squirtle and it never left his side since. However, it would pull pranks by spraying water in his face whenever he found himself asleep. Dax didn't understand it at all, but it was his alarm clock for important days.
"Tortle!" The Wartortle said with a raspy tone.
Dax furrowed a brow. "What's so important you woke me up out of my nap?"
Wartortle frowned at his trainer and turned to his phone, which was orange in color, however, it had two large orbs on it, similar to eyes and black lines.
"Rotom, my phone isn't for you!"
"Bzzt, but we got news, the start of Bzzt a new Pokemon World Championships is about to start!"
Rotom left Dax's phone, showing what it was, it was a pokemon that was made of plasma with a whitish-blue aura of electricity surrounding its body. It has blue eyes and its body was that of a wisp of some sort.
Dax's eyes widened as he rushed to pick up his phone. Dax's eyes were fixated on the screen. "The finals already? Who made it to the top 2?"
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! WE'VE ALL MADE IT TO VERY MOMENT WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! WE'LL BE WITNESSING THE BIRTH OF A NEW MONARCH!" The announcer cheered in the background of the very crowded stadium.
"ON THE LEFT CORNER, WE HAVE THE KANTO ELITE FOUR MEMBER, LANCE!" A headlight flashed on the left side to show one called Lance. "HE MADE HIS WAY THROUGH THE PRESTIGIOUS WORLD CUP IN DRIFTVEIL CITY AND EMERGED VICTORIOUS! AND NOW HE STANDS HERE, CLOSE TO THE PRIZE OF BEING CROWNED MONARCH."
Lance's red hair was short but still retained its spiky ends. He wore a dark blue tunic with orange linings, dark blue boots, and a majestic cape to end his outfit. Lance didn't even bother to look a the crowd as he walked to his side of the field, his only goal was victory, and he'll achieve that today.
"AND ON THE RIGHT CORNER, OUR ONE AND ONLY, BORN AND RAISED HERE IN GALAR, LEON!" The announcer screamed in excitement.
Leon was the one with all the spotlight this time, with the crowd cheering louder than before. Leon couldn't help but smile at the expressive cheering he was receiving.
Leon is a rather tall man with long purple hair and amber eyes. He wears a baseball cap that is turned upwards to show the crown design that was underneath the brim. He wore a red, fur-lined cape that had logos on it, most likely from various sponsors, and a black striped shirt that has a sword and shield design on it. He also wears white shorts with white tights underneath with a black and gold pattern on the sides. To finish it, he wore white sneakers with the same black and gold design on them.
Leon and Lance both gave each other a look of respect and smirked at each other. They both knew the upcoming battle was going to be enjoyable.
"I knew you would make it here, Leon, I watched your battles, you show incredible skill," Lance spoke, his voice filled with respect.
Leon didn't speak before grabbing the nape of his cape. "Can you feel it, Lance?"
"What?"
"The tense, still air of the crowd, the anticipation is at an all-time high!" Leon brought the cape up to cover the lower half of his face, letting his eyes be the only thing seen. "The crowd is quite cruel, after all, they want to see one of us lose today."
"Heh, you make it sound like you've won," Lance said with a chuckle.
"I'm unbeatable because I learn from battles I see and partake in, and I'll learn today…from my victory," Leon said with a bit of smugness, getting Lance to stare at him, which he gave back the hardened stare.
"Then, there's no need for further discussion!" Lance said as he forcefully threw his Pokeball. Everyone expected him to summon his trusty red Gyarados like he was known for, but it was a different Pokemon.
It was Dragonite, which are largely built and orange in color, with two small pair of wings on its back. It also has a beige belly. Lance's Dragonite pumped itself up with a quick shout.
"A mighty foe! Charizard, stand by!" Leon threw his Pokeball up into the, and out came a pokemon similar to Dragonite but a shade of orange and a flame tip upon its tail.
Charizard landed on the ground, with a bent knee and hand on it as well. Leon's Charizard was powerfully built, which caught Lance's attention.
"Dragonite, this Charizard won't be like the others we fought, so prepare yourself!" Dragonite nodded in understanding. "DRAGONITE STRIKE WITH THUNDER PUNCH!"
Leon quickly responds. "CHARIZARD, AIR SLASH!"
Charizard's wings became cloaked in a white veil as he began to charge its attack, shooting off dense blades of wind at Dragonite. Dragonite gave a cry of its name as its fists crackled with electricity as it flew in towards Charizard. The crowd cheered in the background as the battle ensued.
Lance saw the opportunity to try something and brought his hands up. "Dragonite slam your fist on the ground and shoot the lighting at Charizard!"
Dragonite slammed its fist on the ground, digging them into the stadium and shooting off the bolts at Charizard's air slash. Leon's eyes widened at the tactic Lance showed.
Leon waved his arms. "CHARIZARD USE FLAMETHROWER!"
Lance smirked. "COUNTER WITH YOUR OWN FLAMETHROWER!"
The clash of flames met at the center, both fighting for complete dominance over the other, however, Charizards flame was stronger and overwhelmed Dragonite's in the process of it.
"DRAGON DANCE!" Dragonite dodged Charizard's attack and spun in the air with a purple, draconic energy shrouding its body. "NOW THUNDER PUNCH!"
"DRAGONITE WILL BE FASTER DUE TO DRAGON DANCE, HOW WILL LEON RESPOND!" The announcer shouted in the background.
Dragonite sped past Charizard in a display of incredible speed, shocking both Leon and Charizard, and before Charizard could even react, it was punched between its wings and slammed into the stadium. The crowd erupted in a large frenzy at the heavy hit Charizard was struck with. To this, Lance smirked confidently.
"Interesting, Charizard, it seems we've met a worthy fighter, eh?" Charizard recovered with its flames flying into the sky of the stadium.
"I must say, Leon, not too many people can take a hit after Dragon Dance, Dragonite let's kick this up a notch! DRACO METEOR!"
"BURAAAA!" Dragonite shouted as it shot an orange meteor into the sky before it broke apart into smaller fragments.
Leon went slack jaw for a moment before finally snapping back into reality. "CHARIZARD DIG!"
The crowd gasps at Leon's quick thinking. Even Lance showed his surprise at this and took a brief moment to gulp. He didn't expect the move such as dig to be used on a Charizard of all pokemon. Leon really showed how unpredictable he was.
Charizard tucked in its wings and spun into the ground as the meteors struck all over the area, the crowd was protected by a red-like barrier as the meteors struck with a vengeance.
It took a few moments for the dust that clouded the arena to dissipate, Lance and Leon stared in pent-up anticipation.
Dragonite stayed in the air as a safety measure for any sneak attacks from Charizard.
"I'm quite happy that it was you to have been my opponent, Leon, I would've never had this much…excitement from anyone else!"
Leon smirked. "Likewise, Lance! Now… it's the time!" Leon's Charizard appeared from the ground and immediately was brought back into its Pokeball.
Lance followed suit. "DRAGONITE, ITS TIME…." Lance showed the wrist band and an aura left it, encompassing Dragonite's Pokeball. "TO DYNAMAX!"
Lance threw the giant red ball into the air, and in its wake, was Dragonite, extremely large and covered in a red lining.
"ITS TIME…TO GIGANTAMAX!" Leon said as he threw his Pokeball by Dragonite, and out came Charizard with a major change, its wings were completely flames, its horns had flames coming out of them as well and flames were leaving its mouth on the edges.
The crowd was silent before they inevitably shouted in cheers as they were finally witnessing the peak of this battle.
Lance hunched and smirked. "DRAGONITE, MAX WRYMWIND!"
Dragonite gave a mighty bellow before sending forth a devastating attack at Charizard. Leon could only smirk at this.
"I knew you would go straight for offense! Charizard, MAX AIRSTREAM!"
Charizard cried gruffly as it shot a pilar of swirling air from its maw, lifting its body up and back and dodging Dragonite's attack. Lance kissed his teeth angrily.
"LET'S KEEP IT UP! WE'RE JUST STARTING TO HAVE A CHAMPION TIME!" Leon shouted with high amounts of excitement. "G-MAX WILDFIRE!"
Charizard reared its head back as before shooting off a flame that morphed into a phoenix, striking Dragonite head-on in the face.
"MAX LIGHTNING!" Lance said agitatedly, Dragonite sent forth a lightning bolt over Charizard's head and struck down upon it, eliciting a large cry of pain from Charizard.
Leon threw his hands up. "G-MAX WILDFIRE!"
The flames shot at Dragonite once again, and doubled with the phoenix from before, this time it struck harder than before, getting Dragonite to shrink and lay flat on the ground. Lance stood there clenching his fist but breathed a sigh of relief.
After a few seconds, Charizard returned to normal.
"AND THERE YOU HAVE IT, FOLKS! THE BIRTH OF A NEW MONARCH, LEOOOOOOON!" The announcer shouted.
Lance and Leon both met at the center and grinned at each other.
"Looks like you win Leon, your Charizard's testament is an extension of yourself, strong and formidable, I'm glad I was able to witness the birth of a new Monarch," Lance grabbed Leon's hand and rose it into the air, the crowd roared.
Leon was now the strongest trainer in the world.
Dax looked at his phone with narrowed eyes, feeling a bit…moved by the battle. If he had to be honest, he was expecting Lance to win…but this Leon guy, he was a real fighter indeed.
"Say, Wartortle, I think I know who I want to fight next," Dax said as he turned off the battle he just witnessed. Leon showed impeccable skill, so much so that Dax felt he needs to get even more vital than he is right now.
Dax, being born and raised in Unova, took on the Unova League, but he couldn't make it past Alder, the man was a strong trainer and it showed with how his Pokemon responded to his pleas for victory. Dax decided that Unova wasn't the only place to place his bets on, he set his sights on the entire world. Dax then took a trip to Kanto, having heard about how strong Lance was, and took on the Kanto Gym Challenge, but along the way, Dax began to feel…lazy, as if battling wasn't fun anymore.
Dax grew somber, and nonchalant about battling, having only set his sights on strong trainers. It was due to that fact you could see Dax sleeping like a Slakoth in the middle of nowhere, thankfully he had his trusty pokemon to warn him of any dangers.
Now, Dax was interested in this Pokemon Coronation Challenge, it was an event to determine a Monarch, the strongest trainer in the world. And that was Leon. Dax decided to look up Leon and his eyes took a shot open from their usual sheepish look, supposedly Leon fought against 100 trainers and came out on top.
Dax somehow felt that was unbelievable, but since Leon did defeat Lance, it could well be true. Dax's fist clenched tightly as he was feeling the adrenaline begin to set in. Leon was an interesting person indeed.
"War?" Dax turned to his Wartortle and picked it up, ignoring how heavy the Pokemon was.
"You want to be the strongest too, yeah?" Dax received a cheeky grin from Wartortle which answered the question for him. "Me too, to have everyone cheer for me, that would be the life!"
Dax placed Wartortle on his right shoulder and began to run down the path that was nearby. Dax was going to start his training, but he needed to go sign up for the new year of the Pokemon Coronation series, an unsuspecting smirk appeared on the teenager's face as he was thinking of ways to defeat Leon, despite seeing one battle from him.
…
Dax was currently in the region of Kalos, having wanted to hear more about Pokemon Mega Evolution, it was interesting enough to pique Dax's interest on the subject…and because Dax was a fan of Diantha, despite her being older than he was, Dax can certainly say she was the most beautiful women he ever saw.
But charming fantasies aside, Dax needed to become stronger than he was currently. He knew he wasn't champion level, having lost against Alder two years ago. His team was rusty as well, considering all he does is lounge around and sleep whenever he can.
Dax made it to Lumiose City fairly quickly, having just been on the outskirts of the town. Dax and Wartortle looked around the place, having never been here before, this place was also the largest city in Kalos and the busiest as well. However, Dax wasn't here to sightsee and look at the clothing shops, he was here to meet the Professor, Sycamore. Professor Juniper had told him that Sycamore was a good man who is still trying to crack the phenomenon of Mega Evolution.
And so, Dax walked down the bustling street, the chatter from various people in the background. Dax made it to what he was hoping was the Professor's lab, it looked labby enough in his opinion.
Walking inside, Dax was met with a euphoric feeling, and to add to this, he saw three pokemon running around, one being a turquoise-colored frog with huge eyes and some sort of fluff around its neck, a small, bright orange fox, and a green mammalian pokemon.
The three pokemon stopped as they noticed the stare from Dax and his Wartortle. Wartortle jumped down and strutted over to them, and in a matter of seconds, they all began to laugh in their own way.
"What's with all the commotion?" A stoic tone entered the lobby, getting Dax's attention.
Dax saw a teen, or young adult around his age. He was slim with messy black hair and a major cow lick that made it seem like a spade of sorts and ocean blue eyes. He wears a black leather jacket, a pair of baggy black pants, a white shirt underneath a blue shirt, and black boots. He also wears fingerless gloves and a pale blue scarf,
"You're…definitely not the professor are you?"
The young adult looked at Dax with a steely gaze, which caught Dax off guard, he didn't return it back, only keeping the slack-ish gaze on his face and features.
"I am not," The young adult answered, his attention turned to the Wartortle conversing with the other pokemon. "You're already a trainer, so what do you need the Professor for?"
Dax grinned sheepishly. "I'd like to learn about this mega evolution if I can, it's caught my attention."
"Alain, what was the problem?" An older voice called out and soon after came a man of middle age, with black curly hair and bluish eyes. He wears a blue shirt and black trousers and brown shoes with gray stripes, he also wears a white lab coat. "Oh, excuse my manners, my name is Professor Sycamore!"
Dax could tell Sycamore is a busy man from the way he presented himself. "My name is Dax, I wanted to ask you about Mega Evolution, I come from Unova which isn't home to many things like Mega Evolution and Dynamax."
Sycamore cupped his beard and smiled. "I see, well, I suppose I can fill you on it. Follow me!"
…
Dax was given a brief tour around the facility, which ended with Sycamore coming back into his office where they could finally talk about Mega Evolution.
"Before we begin, I must ask…why are you interested in Mega Evolution?"
Dax didn't feel any suspicions from Sycamore's tone, it was an honest question. "Well, I heard about it on my travels, and it's a recurring phenomenon in Kalos and I was wondering what Pokemon exactly evolves…"
Sycamore hummed at Dax's answer and smiled. "I can see you have a Wartortle, Blastoise is known to Mega Evolve."
Dax heard his Wartortle grumble in a disapproving manner." My Wartortle doesn't want to evolve…we fought a Blastoise before and Wartortle hasn't…took kindly to them, so he refuses to evolve."
"Ah! Most Pokemon are like that, and I can tell just from the looks of it, that your Wartortle is strong enough, not every Pokemon needs to be fully evolved to show off great strength." Sycamore said beaming. "What other Pokemon do you have in your arsenal, we can figure out what Pokemon has the potential to Mega Evolve!"
"Well, my current team is Wartortle, Rotom, Aggron, Bisharp, Gyarados, and Hydreigon."
Sycamore was mildly surprised at the lineup and rolled in his chair. "Gyarados and Aggron can mega evolve."
Alain sat in the back listening intently to the conversation and something kicked inside him to enter the conversation, but he wasn't like that and ignored that nagging feeling.
"I see, I appreciate the help, professor."
"Say, before you go, are you by any chance entering the Pokemon Coronation Series this year?"
Dax and even Alain looked at Sycamore. "I'm planning on it, I want to beat Leon and his Charizard."
"Heh, how would you like to take one of the starters here? Chespin, Fenniken or Froakie?"
"But…I'm not a new trainer?"
"I know...it's just those Pokemon need to see the world, instead of staying in here, you know?"
Dax looked unsure for a bit before sighing. "I'll take Fenniken," Dax said with a short smile on his face.
…
Dax left the laboratory with his head held high, he was able to register for the Pokemon World Coronation thanks to Professor Sycamore. He was currently ranked in Normal Class, ranked 1000th. Dax's teeth rattled in excitement. He liked a good challenge!
"Hey wait…"
Dax turned around with his eyes landing upon Alain. "Yeah, what is it?"
"You want to beat Leon, how can you beat someone like that in a span of a year?" Alain asked quizzically.
Dax didn't answer straight away, only after a momentary moment of pause. "I don't know…but I'll get there…what about you?"
Alain kept his lips straight, and his blue eyes sparkled. "Then I'll be seeing you around."
Dax didn't understand Alain, he was…odd. But, Dax couldn't talk about being weird when he's similar as well. Dax turned around and walked down the street with a grin on his face. The thought of battling Alain also entered his mind. So many strong trainers entered this tournament.
Luckily for Dax, he could travel around different regions and challenge various trainers.
"Noivern, Air Slash"
"DODGE IT ACCELGOR!"
Two trainers were battling in the middle of a stadium. One trainer was a young man of light skin complexion. He was currently wearing a white tank top with black baggy shorts, orange socks, and black sandals. His hair was in a fade style.
Noivern was a large, bat with draconian features, its body was purple and black. It has ears that were largely rounded and resembled speakers.
Accelgor has a large pink head with green stripes and a hole with a star shape. It has a blue body with two extensions that was like a scarf.
Noivern's wings became shrouded in white before it lashed them forward, drawing blades of wind towards the Bug-type Accelgor. However, Accelgor was fast pokemon and it was easily able to dodge it with no trouble.
"ACCELGOR USE BUG BUZZ!"
"Heh, Noivern, Dragon Pulse!"
Noivern screeched before releasing a blast of draconic energy that shaped into a dragon midway through its pursuit to Accelgor. Accelgor jumped into the air and dispersed into thin air.
"Koa, I hear you're some bigshot, but you fight like a rookie, everyone knows Accelgor is all about speed."
Koa didn't respond to his opponent's bickering as he found it. "Noivern, you hear that?"
Noivern craned its head to look at Koa and smirked. "Vern!"
Koa chuckled before he glared at the trainer. "I won't lose, because I'm just getting started! Noivern end it with Boomburst!"
Noivern's eyes sparkled before giving a mighty shriek as its ears turned white. It released the devastating attack that shook the area they were in, the attack struck Accelgor who was trying to dodge the attack but failed as it flew into a nearby tree.
The trainer's shocked expression was all that was left. Koa and his Noivern turned around and began to walk away. "Next time, try not to be such an asshole," Koa said as a parting gift for the trainer he's defeated.
…
Koa was a trainer that was well renowned in the Alola region for his excellent sportsmanship and charisma. If there wasn't a champion already, Koa would most definitely be a top candidate for champion. For now, Koa has settled for leisure time battling trainers in Alola, but recently he's been hearing about Ash's exploit, the current champion of Alola. Koa wasn't jealous, he was inspired by Ash to even start his journey around the Alola region.
Now, Koa doesn't even know what he wants to do.
"There you are, Koa!"
Koa stopped walking to look at the restaurant he was going to walk past, his ruby-colored eyes landed upon Mallow, one of the cooks of the restaurant. Mallow is a slender young woman with a rather tall build and tan skin, She has long green hair kept in two pigtails shaped like trees, and she also possesses light green eyes. On the right side of her hair, she has a pink flower accessory. Mallow wears a pink tank top with gray overalls with white frills.
"Oh, Mallow, what's up?"
Mallow smiled brightly at Koa, getting the young adult to blush a bit, although it was small, it was still visible on his face. Koa scratched his hair to stop the blush from growing any larger.
"Did you hear about Ash taking part in the Pokemon Coronation Series?" Mallow was met with silence, giving Mallow her answer. "Are you going to enter?"
Koa cupped his hands and placed his chin on top of them as he sat down on one of the stools. "I don't know…what will I gain from it? Everyone is going to be cheering for Ash."
Mallow hummed lightly. "You're still one of the best trainers in Alola, we can cheer for you both!"
Koa glanced at Mallow, hearing the serenity in her tone. "I'll think about it."
Back with Dax, the young man was currently on his way to Hoenn for some much-needed training.
Dax felt his phone ring and he quickly answered it seeing who it was that was calling him. "I haven't heard from you in a long time, teach."
["I wish it was on better terms, Dax, but we've received a new case that needs…your expertise. It's a mission in the Hoenn region."]
"Hoenn? Funny I was just heading there now, so, what is it I have to do?"
["I will rendezvous with you in Lake May, this is a pressing matter, and it may do you some good to hold off on your Pokemon and gain new ones, you're too well known to the criminal underworld and if anyone from any organizations you took down notices you, you may be in trouble, however, you can bring Wartortle and your trusty ace.]
Dax stared at the plane he was going to get in with a frown, if his mentor was telling him to leave most of his current party behind, that meant this was going to be a harsh and enduring mission. "You got it, boss, I'll see you soon," Dax said blankly as he hung up the phone.
Dax took a few seconds to get his act in gear, it's been a full year since he's been on a new mission, and if that was the case, he knew the risks that came with his job.
And he was prepared for it.
END
It's been about half a year since I started anything Pokemon related and as you can see, it's not a rewrite of Pokemon: Dreams Or Knightmares. In fact, I'm positive this will be better. This story will take in elements from my first Pokemon story. This will be a bit gritty and not for the faint of heart.
The PWC M8 has been disappointing, so this will story will be an AU of it with how I feel it should've gone down. I and a few friends have already determined who will be in the M8 or should I say M16. As you can tell, I kept Ash here as my friend requested.
Dax and Koa are going to be the main characters of this story and will meet soon.
Here are the Pairings.
Dax X Courtney (Team Magma)
Koa X Mallow
This is subject to change.
