A Brand-New Life- Iowa Style
The crisp Iowa air penetrated through the cracked window allowing the fresh spring air to fill the room as the sun rose over the valley, highlighting the walls with sunlit streaks of gold. Angela shivered and turned into Tony's welcoming arms as he engulfed her in his embrace. Burring her face into the crock of his neck, she inhaled his sorely missed scent, placing soft, butterfly kisses along his cheek line.
"Oh, how I've missed you," she breath, extending her arm across his chest!
"I've missed you too sweetheart! I can't believe we almost missed each other trying to surprise the other." He shook his head, tightening his grip around her. "I can't believe Rosie was able to get me off that plane after they closed the doors. I guess there's something to be said about small town, airport connections," he chuckled.
Leaning up on his chest, Angela inhaled deeply, looking around the room to find the words that had been occupying her mind throughout the night.
"What's wrong," Tony inquired, "You, ok?" His concern evident on his face.
"Ya, I'm fine," she leaned down and kissed his lips softly. Another deep breath, "Tony, I've been thinking about something, and I want you to hear me out before you say anything."
"Okay," he uttered hesitantly.
"So, I've been thinking, this commuting thing we've been trying just isn't working! The last three months have been an absolute shit show not to mention we're spending a fortune on plane tickets."
"What are you saying Angela," Tony interrupted frantically?
"I'm saying we can't keep going the way we've been, not only are we going to go crazy trying to fit into each other's schedules but when we're apart, I miss you so incredibly bad I can't hardly function."
"Oh sweetheart," Tony pulled her down into his embrace, "I miss you too but there's really no other way unless I break my contract and come home, and I doubt Dr. Graham will let me out of it and the boys are doing so good and I'm finally getting into my grove here."
"No, Tony," she pushed herself back up quickly, "I would never suggest you give up your job, you're doing what you love, what you were meant to do and I'm so proud of you,"
"Then what are you saying Angela, commuting is the only way to do this, we just need to get better at it!"
"Tony, honey, we've tried, and we suck at this so what I'm trying to say is that" she bit her bottom lip nervously, "What would you say to having a fulltime roommate?"
"What?" Tony sat up nearly tossing Angela off the bed. "What are you talking about?"
"Me and you, living together, you know, roommates with benefits." She smirked.
"Angela, in case you haven't noticed, we're not exactly in the same state and we have jobs on different sides of the country."
"Well, duhhh, yes, I know that but what if I moved out here for the remainder of the year so we could be together and stop this crazy commuting?"
"Angela, honey, I love you for wanting to try and make this easier for us, but you have a business in Manhattan you can't just pick up and move across the country."
"Ya and what if I gave it up so we could be together?"
"No way Angela, no way!" Tony shot out of the bed, grabbing his jeans and slipping them on, "No way you're giving up your business, I'll quit before I let you do that!"
"Tony, I'm not saying give up the business or sell it, I'm just saying I can take a leave of absence and let Jack run things for a while."
Standing next to the bed, his hands on his hips, "But Angela, that's your baby, your business, you've put your life into it, I can't just let you walk away from it. Your clients need you!"
"And I need you Tony, you're my life and the business will be okay. We're in a good position, Jack is more than capable of running things and I can still be available if needed."
"What about Jonathan, what about Mona, you can't just pick up and move across the country because of me!"
"Tony, if you don't want me here, just say it but stop finding excuses for me to not be here." Her voice quivered as she tried to hold back tears of frustration and disappointment.
"Oh God no, Angela," Tony sat down on the edge of the bed, "There's nothing I want more than for you to be here with me, but you've got your business, Jonathan, your mother, the house, you can't just pick up and move because of me." He grabbed her hand, kissing it softly.
"I told you before Tony, you've spent all these years doing for everyone else, this is your time, this is your place and it's my time, my turn to do something for you, something for us and I want to do this for you, for us." Her face pleading and soft.
Shaking his head, Tony rubbed is forehead and sighed, "I don't know Angela, I can't ask you to do this."
Grabbing his arm, "You're not asking me Tony, I'm telling you I want to do this. Please Tony, I know we can make it work! Unless of course, you don't like waking up to this every morning?" Angela seductively dropped the sheet from around her chest.
His eyes bulging, along with his male anatomy, "Are you kidding me," he leaned in capturing her lips passionately, "I love waking up to this," he looked her up and down, "To you, it's the best thing I look forward to every morning we're together." He captured her lips again.
Wrapping her arms around him, deepening their kiss, she pressed her body up against him, fully engulfing him in her arms. Breaking away to catch their breathes, she whispered, "So roomy, what do you say, wanna make this a permanent morning ritual?"
"I'm not 100% convinced yet, I think you need to show me some of the benefits of this arrangement," he smirked, leaning her back on the bed.
"I think we need to lose these then," she exclaimed, reaching for the zipper on his jeans.
"Let me help you with that!" He quickly escaped the confines of the denim and mounted over her.
Running her fingers down his back, she cupped his rear, pulling him down onto her, maneuvering her torse to aline with his, their perfect rhythm commenced without effort.
After a glorious morning of love making, Tony and Angela sat up against the headboard, each glowing from the satisfaction the other had gifted them with. Breaking the silence that had falling between them as they both tried to regain their breaths, Tony leaned in, kissing her cheek, and whispered, "Are you sure about this Angela?"
Looking over at him, she cupped his cheek, 'I've never been more sure about anything. We need this time together Tony. We've lived this lie long enough, not being together, hiding our feeling for each other, wasting precious time, we could have been loving each other and well, you know, loving each other," she emphasized looking between their naked bodies. "This is our time honey; our brand-new life and I want to enjoy every moment possible with you."
Staring at her, in disbelief that their seven-year world wind romance had brought them to this moment, he leaned in, capturing her lips softly, "I love you so much Angela Bower and I can't wait to start our brand-new life together, here in Iowa."
"Me either my love, me either," she took a deep breath, her mind suddenly racing with excitement and uncertainty. "I hope I just made the right decision," she thought to herself as she wrapped her arms around Tony, connecting their lips once again, sealing the deal.
