Why Paimon Won't Be In This Genshin Zelda Crossover: A complete explanation and side chapter (which is really depressing)
Oops! How could I forget about everyone's favorite noisy emergency food? Here's why Paimon parted ways with the Traveler:
So basically, as the adventures in Teyvat went on with Lumine and friends, Paimon began growing up. Her species (some kind of Fairy) matures MUCH FASTER than normal humans, and within two years, she was an adult, around the same size as an average human woman.
That's when she found out the horrifying truth about the Fairies of Teyvat: Paimon is the last of her kind, because greedy humans had hunted down every last Fairy, to fulfill a truly sickening purpose- extracting their literal souls in an excruciatingly painful process in order to create Visions (devices for channeling elemental powers) behind the backs of the Archons, who are usually the only ones who can grant magical abilities to people.
So when Lumine had fished Paimon out of the lake at the beginning of the game, it was like finding a living dinosaur (in real life.)
When Paimon discovered the truth behind why she was the only one of her kind, she went BERSERK, filled with feelings of sorrow and grief she never knew she even had, lashing out with the fury of the seven elements, and nearly killing the Traveler and endangering the entire cast of Genshin Impact.
At the end of the day, Paimon stopped her relentless assault, because she realized that the party actually cared about her. Still, the truth proved too unbearable for her, and she flew off, never to be seen again. Lumine decided to put the memory behind her, even though it haunted her every second of her life, knowing she lost a friend, and resumed searching for her twin.
"If there ever comes a day where we can no longer be together, keep me in your heart, I'll be there forever."
