It's been a long time since a dull moment has occurred. The war that took so many lives and almost led to the total annihilation of the resistance. Providing support to the innocents, repairing damaged cities, towns, and landscapes. The metal virus, turning the majority of the population into robotic slaves. Dr. Starline's two new creations, who have begun working towards their own ambitions. It all being so eventful, how could the sole surviving echidna not think of it all on this stormy night?
Knuckles opens his eyes and stands up, looking out in the distance, allowing his mind to wander. In spite of his desire to combat the many threats, they caused him to forget his real duty. It resulted in his willingness to aid in dire emergencies. Otherwise, he'd be here guarding the Master Emerald.
Knuckles' thoughts halt by a loud crash. He puts his guard up and turns in the sound's direction, shocked by its triumph over the noise of the thunderstorm. Before the dust can settle, he hears a familiar voice that puts a scowl on his face. "Good thing I planned for scenarios like this! I'LL GET YOU PESTS NEXT TIME!" Knuckles hears another familiar voice, "Oh no you don't, you're not getting away this time, Eggman!"
A loud metallic impact rings out. Dr. Eggman flys out of the debris towards the master Emerald, with blue, yellow & pink figures in hot pursuit. A voice speaks out, "Hitting him towards what he's aiming for wasn't the best idea, Amy." to which another replies, "He was going to escape Tails! You're the one that said things would get dire if he abuses the warp topaz!"
Everything is happening in quick succession. Knuckles is stuck spectating, still trying to process what's going on to decide what move to make. Eggman ends up falling onto the Master Emerald after getting knocked out of his egg mobile. The warp topaz on Eggman's glove glows brighter until a blast emerges and knocks knuckles off of the altar. This rolls him pretty far across the ground. He tries to regain his composure, but he's still very dizzy from the blast, making it difficult to find his balance.
"This isn't good! The topaz is being fed too much energy, like when you turned into Super Sonic! There's no telling what it'll do!" Tails exclaims. "Then what if it's not that big of a deal? It'll cancel itself out like last time" the blue hedgehog nonchalantly says back. Above the Master Emerald, a light in the shape of a rip appears in midair. It then becomes round and larger. "I stand corrected," Sonic says in a defeated tone.
Eggman shrugs off the impact and realizes he's sliding off the emerald towards the wormhole. "SONIC HELP ME!" Eggman shouts. While Sonic usually teases not saving Eggman, he grasped the severity of things. Sonic heads to save Eggman, with the wormhole assisting in its own way by pulling all them towards it. Amy is the first to lose her footing and goes flying towards the wormhole. "SONIC!" Amy shouts. Sonic in a panic rushes to grab Amy midair.
Sonic tries his luck landing on the jewel next to Eggman but is unable to maneuver in the air. Luckily, Tails shows up, grabs Sonic who's still holding Amy and spins both of his tails as fast as he can. It takes every ounce of strength he can muster to make it to the emerald. As a result, they land on the side of the Master Emerald. "Grab on Egghead!" Sonic yells. Eggman wraps his arms around Tails' torso. Sonic begins running as fast as he can with everyone in tow, trying to get down the altar and away from the wormhole. But, the weight of everyone and the power of the wormhole becomes overwhelming. Sonic loses his footing. They all go flying into the gap, screaming, until it closes behind them. The loud winds and shouts silence, with the only sound left being the rain.
Knuckles, who had been in and out of it from hitting the ground so hard, finally stood up and took a look around. The greenery damaged, and the altar is missing some chunks. He wonders where Sonic, Tails, Amy and Eggman vanished to. Knuckles examines the top of the altar. With a look of horror on his face, also realizes the altar is missing something else… the Master Emerald.
