Notes: this is a drabble I guess. It's just a little thought that was in my mind, don't love it. The idea was bugging me so I wrote it out. it's kinda confusing but that's the way it's suppose to be. Italics mean flashbacks. It kinda of dark. Let me know what you think. I obviously don't own avatar the last airbender. And...please review if you can. That's it hope you like it.
Azula squeezes her daughters hand. She looks up at the princess with a smile that's stretches from cheek to cheek. Her chubby round face sweet like honey. Her golden eyes sharp like a dagger.
The wind whisks her raven hair into her mouth. Azula's hand instinctively brushes it away tucking it softly behind her ear. Her little Zira. Her baby.
Azula never thought she could ever love something or someone so much. Then again she thought she was going to win the war, become Fire lord, and kill her brother. Perhaps she is lucky things don't work as planned.
The princess couldn't be happier. Not only is she holding the hand of her amazing daughter but she is sharing the moment with her wonderful wife.
Ty Lee, her best friend, her hero, her first crush. She sits next to the fire bender her head slumped against Azula's shoulder. Zira sits in the middle of the lover birds begging them to stop being so lovey dovey.
"Guysss, stop it." Little Zira whines squirming as if they have a disease.
The two women only respond by kissing. A small peck on the lips to annoy their kid.
"Ewwww, that's gross." She sticks out her tongue in protest.
"I think it's lovely." Ty Lee purrs advancing Azula with another kiss. "Don't you think so sugar cakes."
Azula's nickname. Bestowed upon her on their faithful trip to Ember Island. The place their relationship blossomed. Sweet sugar cake, the title in its full glory. No one other the Ty Lee would be caught calling the fearsome protege such a childish name. Azula isn't sure why some one like Ty Lee was able to make her so weak.
"I think it's lovely as well." Azula replies pecking her wife with a kiss and slight nibble on the ear.
Zira let's go of both her parents hand clasping them one her face to cover her eyes.
"Yuck!" She springs off her seat pointing towards the swing set in front of them. They are at a new Fire nation park. It's all the rage for youngsters. The sky is light with pink and orange along with a vast minority of other colors. The dewy sun is split beyond the horizon setting peacefully.
Zira runs up to the swings clapping her hands cheerfully.
"Push me! Push me!" She bounces from foot to foot.
"Alright." Ty Lee says motherly warmth spilling from her words. She chuckles slightly shaking her head. The acrobat lifts herself from her wife's embrace moving towards her young child.
"Yay!" Zira throws her hands above her head and shouts, jumping unto the swing. Her mother pushes her softly into the air, Ty Lee's tender fingers gently set Zira into a moving rhythm. Their faces both spread with bubbly smiles a identical glint in their eyes. They giggle the same too.
Azula shudders out a breath. She's overwhelmed by the happiness she's feeling. The sight in front of her is enough to shake her very core. A brilliant smile full of joy rushes onto the normally stone cold princess' face. Everything is perfect. She has her loving wife and her shining kid, perfect, everything is perfect.
'No!
Her shining wife?
'NO!
Her loving kid?
'WHY?!
Her baby is shining.
'HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!?
Her baby's right their.
'Sobs flood the room. It's cold so very cold. Her heart feels as if it has stopped. Her chest is full of lead. But she isn't in need of air. She would give it up. She would give it to her.
'The sobs that fill the abyss aren't that of a newborn. But of a mourning mother.
Everything is perfect. Azula's doing great. She has her bab-. She has her wife.
'The doctor shakes his head.
'He weeps for the princess as well
'How she has lost so much
'He watches her holding the lifeless lump of child
'The lump she pleaded would breath
'It didn't.
Azula inhales, the deepest breath she has ever taken. These thoughts, these sounds, these…memories. They weren't her's. They couldn't be. Zira was on the swing, with Ty Lee.
Looks up at the swing set, unaware that she had her eyes closed.
Zira's not their.
Panic swells inside the princess. She bolts to her feet sprinting full speed towards the empty swing set where her daughter was.
"WHERE DID SHE GO?!?" Azula screeches looking around frantically.
Her wife didn't answer, a blank look caught in her eyes. Ty Lee grabs the seat of the swing pulling it as far back as she can go.
"Push, push." Her words as slowed and sunken. Her eyes are clouded with some sort of fog. The life that they use to hold completely vacant.
'PUSH! PUSH!
"TY, WHERE'S OUR BABY!!" Azula grabs ahold of her wife's shoulder stopping the swing with her back. She shakes Ty Lee pleading for a response, she doesn't get one.
The circus freak tilts her head as if Azula was some sort foreign creature. Ty Lee smiles like some sort of joke has been told. Azula's breath is caught in her throat, her mouth dry.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON, WHERE'S MY LITTLE GIRL!!!"
"Don't be silly sweet cakes, she's gone, WE lost her."
Azula is speechless. Her daughter was just here. They were just together. Weren't they?
Ty Lee isn't quite finished.
Her words come out like nails on a chalk board. Her bittersweet tone hammering down on Azula's heart.
"Then you lost me."
'Miss Azula, I have…news
'Your wife…she
'Lady Ty Lee didn't make it
'I'm sorry
'Wait
'Don't!
'PLEASE
'IT WASN'T MY FAULT!!
'AGHHHHHH!!!
'She remembers, the doctor's charred body. The horrid smell that filled the room. Her hurt spread with flames through the hospital wing taking down person after person. She was sent away. Again.
Azula eye's have drifted shut once more. She opens them. When she does Ty Lee's body it gone all that is left is a pile of ashes by her feet. Azula breaks down. Tears flow freely down her cheeks pooling underneath her. Her throat is stuck she feels as if she is choking. A small stream of liquid leaves her nose dripping down into her mouth.
Her vision gets hazy and the colors of the world start to blend together. She drifts off. It's moving to fast. Everything seems like a void, and a mess at the same time. Chaos surrounds her. The ground she was standing on disappears.
The swing set crumples the sky folds in.
She's swallowed whole.
She wakes from one nightmare, to face another.
So basically if you didn't understand, cause of the confusing writing, Ty Lee gave birth to her and Azula's kid, Zira, they both died during the process and this story is just a dream Azula is having. Probably going to re write this later. Anyway let me know what you think. Hope you enjoyed.
