Chapter 3: Radiant sunflower
The morning on the lake was something of special, surrounded by gurgling waters against the boat´s sides. And the sunrays wrapping everything around in a warm light that promised another day of peace and unlimited time to oneself.
When Anna woke lazily stretching her limbs all squarely in her bed, a wonderful smell rose to her nose, that of fresh browed coffee and something she could not really define, but delicious to be sure.
She quickly crawled out of her sheets, hopped into the tiny bath cell and out again in no time, just to dress in her bikini and light summer dress atop. She hastily braided her hair into two plaids and then hurried out into the parlour to greet the beneficent host who provided her with such great a service. Goodness, what a treat!
"Good morning, Kristoff! I can´t believe you´ve prepared breakfast already?"
She chirped excitedly, just to stop short when she noticed him being on the phone and Kristoff hastily put a hand on the speaker upon hearing her voice, staring at her all bewildered.
Anna suddenly felt bad, lifted a hand in excuse and stood a bit uncertain of what to do or where to go. Right then, Kristoff blinked himself back to awareness, when a voice on the other side of the mobile called out for him.
Hey man! Was that a girl´s voice? You brought a girl aboard?!
Kristoff sighed and gestured to her to have a seat. So, Anna shyly lowered herself to the table´s side. Kristoff smirked, shrugged apologetically, and turned his attention back to his call.
"No Sven! I didn´t bring her. She was already aboard when I got here."
Kristoff listened to the exaggerated heap of questions pounded at his ear and couldn´t refrain from laughing.
"Alright, alright, Sven. I´ll let you in about this whole misunderstanding when I get back home, okay?!"
…..
"No, not now, we´re hungry…"
…..
"No! Of course, we did NOT, idiot!"
…..
"Yes, I´ll ask her."
…..
"Hey Sven! Stop it, okay?! See you, buddy. Bye!"
With that, Kristoff pushed the red button and practically throwed the phone away, all across the table, with a smirky grin on his face.
Anna sat all quiet, not sure if the man was angry or embarrassed, having her around and apparently causing him troubles with his friend. Kristoff had told her sort of a lot of "Sven" last night. He must be very close to Kristoff, and she got the notion that Sven cared a lot for his friend, and the other way round, for sure.
She cleared her throat and dared to ask.
"Are you alright? Look, I´m sorry, if I´ve caused you an argument. Really, that´s the last I ever intended."
Meanwhile, the sturdy blond man with kind almond eyes had sat down opposite Anna and looked like a soaked puppy. She couldn´t help but feel sincere and warm tenderness for him.
Kristoff sighed and ran a hand through his hair and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Ah, don´t worry. That was NO argument, believe me. You see, Sven is determined that I should get settled and looking for a lifetime mate – as he would call the eternal match of true love. And when he heard a female voice, all of his watchful fatherly buddy alarms went off…"
"Oh. Sorry for that."
"Hmph."
Anna bit her lips and huffed her shoulders in thought.
"I guess, your Sven and my Olaf would get along well. He tends to mother me sort of at times." She giggled nervously, then remembered something.
"What is it you´re supposed to ask me?"
"Oh. Sven desperately needs a photo of yours to be sort of in the loop of things."
Kristoff lifted his hands as in defence and tilted his head with an innocent smile. Anna didn´t mind such a request and stood immediately.
"Haha. Sure!"
She got around and behind Kristoff, then leaned down to level her face next to his.
Kristoff sat shock stared.
What was she doing now?
"Kristoff, the phone," Anna asked quietly, supressing a giggle.
"Wait, what?"
He turned his face to ask and found his nose brushing hers, just as she had turned at the same time, both blushing and holding their breaths for a second.
Anna regained her composure first, and leaned further to the side, reaching out for the phone across the table.
"Why not giving your caring friend the treat of a Selfie of the two of us?" She asked warmly.
So, they did, and Kristoff was astonished to find himself not even looking that bad next to that radiant sunflower. He sent the photo with a short message.
"Don´t get carried away!"
Anna sniggered with a hand on her belly, then looked around when she memorized the reason, she had rushed out earlier in the first place.
"Say, what´s that compelling smell next to the delicious aroma of coffee?"
"Oh. I made chocolate toasts. Good change of topic, thanks.
Anna gasped and did a little jig-dance in excitement.
"You´re the best!"
Kristoff laughed, got up and together they put the breakfast on the table and then enjoyed the well-deserved boost for the day.
Of course, it would not take long for the mobile to buzz off with a giant grin-emoji and a heart, sent by Sven…
