Chapter 1
1. IMPRESSION: Freddy wanted to make a good first impression on the new animal in the Barnyard.
2. SPECIES: When Freddy learned that the animal coming to the Barnyard was of a different species, this made him more nervous.
3. FOX: The animals learned that the farmer rescued a female fox by the name of Scarlet.
4. QUIET: When Scarlet finally arrived, she didn't really talk much to the other animals.
5. SNOB: "What do you guys think of Scarlet?" Peck wondered curiously.
"One word for that chick dude," replied Pip.
"S-N-O-B."
6. OPINION: Peck ignored Pip's rude comment and asked for the others' opinions instead.
7. NICE: Pig and Otis had said that maybe Scarlet was just extremely shy and truly was a nice animal once they all got to know her. The gang turned their attention to Freddy, wondering what he thought of the vixen.
8. PRETTY: Freddy felt his face flush with a hint of embarrassment. The ferret mumbled something inaudible.
"Freddy buddy, we can't hear you," Peck said with a gentle tone.
Gulping, Freddy spoke up so his friends could hear better.
"I-I s-said that I t-think she's k-kinda p-pretty looking."
9. TEASE: "Awww Freddy has a crush on Scarlet. How cute," Pig playfully teased.
"Freddy and Scarlet sitting in a tree," sang Otis.
"K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" taunted Pip.
10. EMBARRASS: Freddy could feel the hot shame of embarrassment sinking in. Why did he have to open his big mouth?
11. SCOLD: "C'mon guys, knock it off would ya," Peck scolded the gang for teasing Freddy.
12. FUNNY: Pip snorted in derision, saying, "Dude we're guys. We're supposed to give each other a hard time. It's supposed to be funny. Get a sense of humor."
13. BICKER: Soon enough Pip and Peck began to bicker for real.
14. APPROACH: Trying to diffuse the argument between the rooster and the barn mouse; Otis, Pig, and Freddy didn't even notice Scarlet timidly approach them.
15. VOICE: "E-excuse me? I-Is there something w-wrong?" Came a soft, meek voice that was sweeter than honey and lighter than air.
16. PRESENCE: Otis and his friends turned to see that the sweet voice belonged to none other than Scarlet. The barn animals were soon aware of the vixen's presence.
17. INTRODUCE: "Hi, I'm Otis the Cow. You must be Scarlet. It's nice to meet you. These are my friends: Pip the Mouse. Peck the Rooster. Pig the...uhhh...Pig. And this here is Freddy the Ferret," Otis introduced his friends to Scarlet. The black and white cow had a wide grin on his snout when he introduced Freddy to the vixen.
18. NERVOUS: Freddy felt even more nervous than he did beforehand.
He timidly waved at Scarlet and let out a hoarse,"Hi."
19. GIGGLE: Scarlet couldn't help but let out a little giggle. But it wasn't a malicious one. It was a lighthearted and benevolent one.
20. COLORFUL: The gang was rather curious if not confused about what was funny to Scarlet. The vixen apologized for giggling and explained that she never met a bunch of colorful characters like Otis and his friends.
She then faced Freddy, and said, "I especially like you Freddy. You're quite a colorful character I've met so far as of now."
