Hey guys! Here's my newest fanfiction about our favourite grumpy tutor and his five crazy students! I hope you like it! :)
Disclaimer: I don't own The Quintessential Quintuplets.
"I don't believe it," Futaro exclaimed, gazing at the papers he was holding up, his golden eyes wide with amazement. "You five dummies passed!"
The young tutor was unable to believe what he was seeing. He had just finished marking up the scores for the mock test he had just set the Nakano Quintuplets. He was utterly stunned at how well the five sisters who were so often struggling academicallyhad done. Seeing that each and every one of them had passed the test was surreal to Futaro.
It gave the amateur a warm feeling inside - one he was keen to tell his students about.
"You've all done so well!" He lowered the test papers away from his glowing face to beam at the sisters. "It's hard to believe I'm saying this, but I'm-"
Futaro broke off, his smile disappearing when he saw the state of his young pupils.
All five of the Quintuplets had fallen asleep. The mock test they had just finished on their tutor's orders had really tired them out. His words weren't over their weary heads as they were sprawled out in front of him. Not one of them had been able to stay awake after all the work they had been out through.
"Typical!" Futaro shook his head. "One mock test - and you five slackers all fall asleep! You're in for a rude awakening when you head out into the real world!"
The young man rose from the chair he had been sat in while marking the tests. He kept the papers held in his hand as he walked among his napping students. He glanced around from one to the other. The warm feeling remained inside him. He decided now was a good time to tell the Quintuplets what they were thinking - even if they weren't awake to hear it.
"You've all come a long way since we began studying together," he murmured. "When we first met, I believed you five were just a bunch of ditzy, work-shy nuisances - and I certainly wasn't wrong! But I can admit I've realised there's far more to you than that."
Futaro turned towards Ichika. He was sure the eldest of the Quintplets had been the one to fall asleep first. When she wasn't at her acting job or reluctantly attending studying sessions, she could often be found napping during the day time.
"You, Ichika, you take on the heavy burden of balancing your studying with your movie shoots. You throw yourself in front and centre to keep a roof over your siblings' heads. The fact you've managed to keep making improvements in your work is amazing."
Next, Futaro averted his gaze towards Nino. He could only imagine the sort of comments the second eldest Quintuplet would make if she found out he was watching her sleeping.
"Then there's you, Nino. You were the last sister to welcome me as your tutor. You stubbornly insisted that you didn't need me and I should have stayed out of your lives - but you've mellowed out since then. You've been more accepting of me and the bond with you and your sisters is as close as ever. I can tell that underneath all that tacky make-up lies a heart of gold."
As he turned towards Miku, Futaro chuckled with amusement. Even while taking a nap, the middle Quintuplet still did not remove her iconic headphones from around her neck.
"If there's one area you've always been low with, Miku, it's your own self-esteem - and that's something even I don't think I'll ever understand. You should feel proud of yourself for how much your work skills have improved intensely since we started. Hopefully one day, the same incredible growth will apply to your confidence - and to your cooking, too!"
With his smile now returning to his face, Futaro looked down at Yotsuba. He was astonished by how the forth and most active of the Quintuplets was not making a move in her slumber. Not even a twitch of her head ribbon.
"Oh, Yotsuba. Everyone and their mother knows you're the biggest simpleton of the five - so won't it be a surprise to show how much you've improved since we've begun. Even you, the largest airhead of the group, is capable of passing exams. You can prove that now."
Finally, Futaro peered towards Itsuki. The smile on his face was now as large as ever as he remembered how all the shenanigans and pandemonium he went through with the Quintuplets began with the youngest of the five.
"Let's not forget you, Itsuki. It all started when we met - and instantly butted heads. How little I knew it would be the first of many times. It didn't take me long to realise how hot-headed you are - but I soon discovered you aren't too proud to mellow. You still rub me up the wrong way many times - but you've proved yourself capable of getting the right answers to your school work. The growth that you, the youngest of the five, has shown in all this time is astounding."
Futaro stood on the spot, gazing around at the sleeping Quintuplets. He knew not a single word he had said had been picked up by any of them. He held up the test papers again, observing the high scores he had written on the tops of each one.
"It's absolutely true; all you have done so well! It's incredible how far you've come! Of course, the five of you are all still a bunch of idiots!"
Even with all the praise he was giving to his students, Futaro couldn't resist passing a big of digging towards them, which he was not afraid to do to the Quintuplets to their faces, even when they were awake to hear it.
"But you're my five idiots," he finished with a warm smile. "I know you don't hear me say this to you often - and none of you will hear me say it now - but I'm proud of you all."
