Chapter 1: A New Adventure
Ever since my father walked out on us and my mother passing away, my papa Theseus took us in. Giving Jacob being dangerous, he had to keep me locked away from the world. Muggles, what are they? I had no idea what a muggle was, I only knew pure-blood, or so I thought, I didn't even know that there were half-bloods. I didn't even know much about the wizarding world until I would go to Hogwarts. When Jacob went missing, that's when all the visions started.
The Vision
"Raven!" a voice called out. I looked around curious. "Raven! It's me…." it continued. "What do you want?" I asked with a shaky voice. I began to shiver. "I know you don't want to break any rules, but you need to find the vaults for me!" the voice said. "JACOB! THOSE VAULTS AIN'T REAL!" I screamed. Then I was being chased by Voldemort. I screamed as I fell to my knees.
"Raven!" Theseus called as he ran over to catch me. I looked at my papa. "It's the visions again papa!" I started shivering. I soon quickly forgot about it when our owl crash landed into uncle Newt's suit case. I rolled my eyes and walked over to grab the letter off the bird. "Was that Crash?" uncle Newt asked. "Well duh!" I said grinning. "Oh, you have a letter Rave!" He smiled as he walked out of his suit case with aunt Tina. "I think it's from Hogwarts!" Theseus worriedly mentioned. "Papa, don't sound so worried, I'll be okay." I assured him as I opened the letter. "I've been accepted into Hogwarts." I smiled wide. I was excited to be able to finally experience the wizarding world properly after being kept away from it for so long. I did practice some magic and uncle Newt showed me how to train some magical creatures. I even have a pet hippogriff so I'm pretty much trained in magizologist. "That's great, granddaughter!" Theseus said happily gently kissing my head. I loved my papa and uncle Newt, though they are getting on in age, they are still so fun to be around. "Best be off to bed with you now Raven, you need to get all set for Diagon Alley tomorrow." Papa Theseus demanded. I nodded and gave everyone a hug and kiss goodnight.
The Night Terror
I slowly closed my eyes and drifted into deep sleep. I began to dream of a tall handsome red haired boy. We were on top of a tower dancing slowly, he twirled me round, then gently kissed my lips, after we looked deep into each others eyes, when all of a sudden a man came out of no where and attacked him, "BIFFLE!" I shouted. The name was muffled so I all I heard was Biffle, I couldn't make out who Biffle was or what kind of name it was. I jumped in front of the now werewolf and attacked me, giving me 3 deep scratches across my eye and a scratch on my arm. The boy and I were carried to the hospital and laid next to each other, they had placed us in each other's arms. We were in love.
I was awoke by my papa shaking me "Raven! Are you alright?" he asked. I looked around for a few minutes trying to figure out where I was. "I'm fine." I replied snuggling back into my covers and turning on the lamp, I grabbed my stuffy that I clung to, it was what uncle Newt got me when my mother passed away. Little did I know that my night terror was actually me time travelling through dreams. I slowly closed my eyes as my papa Theseus rubbed my back.
The next morning I woke up and slowly got ready to go to Diagon Alley. I walked down the hallway to find that my uncle Newt had made us breakfast. "There's our little Hufflepuff!" He said proudly kissing my head. "Come on now, she's definitely a Ravenclaw." Papa Theseus laughed. "But what if I'm put in Slytherin or Gryffindor?" I asked nervously. "Then they'll be proud of you no matter where you are placed, right guys?" Tina demanded rather than asked. They both squared themselves up. "Right!" The simultaneously said. I quickly ate breakfast and travelled to Diagon Alley with my uncle Newt.
When we got there I went to go and get fitted for my uniform while Newt went to get me a pet. "Hogwarts?" A purple eyed girl asked and smiled at me. I just nodded. "Me too, my grandparents are getting me a pet." She continued. "I want a tarantula." She added. She looked outside and saw my uncle Newt. "Is that Newt Scamander?" she asked pointing. "Keep still dear!" Madam Malkin said. I didn't reply and shooed uncle Newt away while the young girl my age was not looking. "You're quiet." She said. I shrugged and hopped off my stand to buy my uniform. I scurried out of the shop to meet my uncle Newt. "What was that about?" he asked worried. "N…nothing uncle. I'm going to have a wonder around by myself for a moment if that's okay?" I asked. "Of course, I'll meet you back here later." Newt replied. I wondered around aimlessly looking at the list of things I needed, until I bumped into a girl who was holding a book in her hand. "I'm sorry." I said. The girl looked up. "I'm Rowan." She said. "Getting ready to start Hogwarts too?" she asked. I smiled. "Yes, I'm a big confused though. My uncle got me fitted for my uniform and got me a pet cat, but I'm not sure where else to go." I replied. "Oh, I can help. I've been visiting Diagon Alley since I was a kid with my family." Rowan mentioned. "Really?" I asked. "Yes, let's start by getting your books." Rowan replied. We both walked around and found a shop. "Here, Flourish and Blotts!" Rowan pointed up at the sign. "Luckily I needed to get mine too." She added. So we went in to get our books together. "Oh look. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them!" Rowan said excitedly. "Yeah, that book was written by my uncle." I said casually. "WHAT!? Newt Scamander is your uncle?" Rowan asked surprised by the news. "Well, my great-uncle. I was raised by my granddad." I replied. "That's amazing!" Rowan smiled wide. After getting all of the books we needed for our first year and paying for them, I had to say thank you. "Thank you Rowan." I said pulling out a hand full of lemon sherbets and offering it to her. "Oh, no problem. I love lemon sherbets." She said as she gently took them from my hand.
Once we got outside she grabbed my arm. "I just realised, I was too excited that I forgot to ask what your name was!" Rowan laughed. I laughed before answering her. "I'm Raven Loki!" I said smiling. "Well! It's a pleasure to meet you, Raven!" Rowan said holding her hand out for me to shake. "It's a pleasure to meet you too Rowan!" I said shaking her hand. "I'm even more excited about starting Hogwarts now." I added. "Me too." Rowan grinned from ear to ear. "Let's see what you've got left to buy." Rowan said looking at my list. "Ah, I've already got my stuff. But I'll take you to Ollivanders to get your wand." Rowan said. We skipped off to Ollivander. "There it is!" she said pointing to the sign. "My mum has given me just enough money to buys something special for school." Rowan said. "Oh cool." I said. "I want to show everyone that I'm a serious intellectual who is going to be on her way to become Head Girl." She said. "I feel like there's a but here." I laughed. "I'm stuck on buying a hat, a sweater or a scarf!" Rowan frowned. "How about a nice warm sweater?" I asked. "That's a great idea!" Rowan said. "I'll go and find a sweater and you get your wand, we'll meet back outside after." She added. I skipped off inside Ollivanders. I looked around, I couldn't believe I was going to get my first wand. I walked up to the desk "Excuse me." I said but the man did not reply. I coughed. The man turned his head. "I wondered when I'd be seeing you miss Loki." He said smiling. "Garrick Ollivander, a pleasure to meet you." He said as I took his hand to shake. "I have organised some wands for you to try." He said as he walked over to have a look at the first one he thought of. "It's an Applewood wand, Dragon heartstring core, nine inches and rigid." He said handing it to me. I gently took the wand and stared blankly at it. "Well go on…" he said. I looked at him confused. "Give it a twirl!" He encouraged showing me what to do. I gave the wand a flick and suddenly sent a pile of papers flying around the room. I quickly put the wands down. "I'm so sorry!" I said with a worried look in my eye. "No, no…It's not your fault." Ollivander assured. "Oh?" I questioned. "The wand chooses the wizard." He replied. I looked confused. "If I recall correctly, when your brother came in to try his first wand, he ended up exploding my favourite inkpot." Ollivander laughed. I was shocked. "You knew who my brother was?" I asked curiously. "Of course! I remember every wand I have ever sold." He replied. "What was my brother's wand?" I asked curiously. "Maplewood wand, Dragon Heartstring core, ten inches." Ollivander replied. I crinkled my eyebrows confused. "That doesn't sound too much of a good wand." I said. "Oh but it was, the finest wand I had ever sold, the only one of it's kind." Ollivander began. "Too bad they had to snap it in half when he got expelled." His face fell sad. I felt sad now too. "Yes, he ran away from home after being expelled." I said with tears in my eyes. "I'm sorry dear." Ollivander appologised. "That must have had an overwhelming impression on you?" he asked. "He has been missing ever since, but I know he loved us and he loved Hogwarts." I replied. I looked worried. "I just hope…Jacob…I hope he's okay!" I said. Ollivander began to think. "Yes, sensitivity is a great strength for you." He began as he walked over to the wands he had sorted out for me to try. "I think I have just the wand." He added. "Ahah, Larchwood wand, Unicorn core, 10 ½ inches, slightly springy flexibility." He added as he passed me the wand. I gently took the wand and gave it a wave. The wand started to glow. "Interesting, this unique wand has decided that you should be it's owner. This type of wand I have never sold before." He said. "You'll have to tell me which path you choose!" he added smiling. I took my wand and headed outside to meet Rowan.
"Hi, Raven" Rowan asked excitedly. "Woah, how long have you been waiting there?" I asked startled. "30 minutes!" Rowan said smiling. "So, what do you think?" she asked as she pulled out her new sweater and put it on. "Oh wow, that really suits you!" I replied, amazed at how well the sweater clung onto her. "Thanks, I'll definitely looks like the smartest first-year now!" She said. "Yes, you will. I love the sweater!" I agreed. "Well it was your idea, I'll definitely come to you for anymore fashion advice." Rowan smiled. Then she looked down at my wand. "Wow, is that an Larchwood wand?" She asked amazed. "Yes it is." I replied showing her. "Wow, my family grows Larch trees on our farm." She said gently taking my wand to have a good look at it. "You have a family tree farm?" I asked. "Yes, my family supplies the wood for wands and brooms." She replied handing my wand back to me. "I bet that's fun going outside, exploring the nature?" I asked curiously. "Nah, I enjoy staying inside and reading, that way I don't have to go outside and farm." Rowan laughed and then she frowned. "Except for the fact I don't really have any friends anyways so…" she started. I looked at her, we had so much in common. "Me too, well my only friends are my papa and my aunt and uncle. Maybe we can be friends?" I asked. "Really? You don't think I'm too weird?" Rowan asked. "Of course not, why would you say that!" I replied. "Because people usually assume I'm too weird." Rowan said. "Well, people assume I'm weird too." I assured her. She looked confused. "Why would anyone assume you're weird?" she asked. "Because of my brother being Jacob Loki, they think I'm mad and dangerous like him." I replied. "Wait, you're the sister of the Jacob Loki, who was expelled from Hogwarts?" she asked. "Yep, he was expelled for breaking rules and searching for mythical Cursed Vaults." I said, my face saddened. "Yeah, that was a massive story in the Daily Prophet." Rowan agreed now looking sad too. "Everyone in school will know and they will all think I'm mad and insane just like my brother!" I started crying. "Oh no, don't cry, we can be friends. Is there anything I can do if anyone bothers you about it?" Rowan asked giving me a gentle hug. I wiped my tears and proceeded with the conversation. "I can usually stand up for myself, but it would be nice to have a friend who has my back." I replied. "I understood that!" Rowan started. "I will then do what I can to stop anyone who tries to torment you and ruin your reputation." Rowan huffed. My uncle Newt had found us. "Raven, it's time to go now. I want to show you the little baby Nifflers." He said. "Rowan, this is my uncle Newt Scamander." I said smiling. "Uncle, this is my new friend Rowan Khanna, she's a huge fan." I added. "Pleasure to meet you Mr. Scamander." Rowan said holding her hand out for him to shake. Newt took her hand. "Please to meet you too Miss Khanna." Newt shook her hand. "I'm so glad I met you Rowan, it would be nice to have a friend at Hogwarts." I said giving Rowan a friendly hug. "Me too, Raven. See you in September." She said hugging me back.
Later that day, uncle Newt and I had gone to see the baby Nifflers. "I trust all went well?" papa Theseus asked. "Of course! She's already got a new friend." Newt replied. "That's perfect Raven!" Theseus said smiling. And with that, uncle Newt and I disappeared down into his suitcase.
