The darkest day in New York City has arrived. What was believed to be an infection, turned out to be an invasion. From the shadows, the city is attacked by black goo aliens called Symbiontes. Spreaded across the city, infecting everyone they meet, and turning them against the city they love to destroy it. Fires are everywhere, buildings are covered in black goo, civilians are being kidnapped by those aliens, resistance forces can't hold on much longer, a veil of darkness is being spreaded across the city. Is there someone that can defeat them?
There is one… a boy, that after losing everything, became a man. Many call him a hero, others a criminal. A boy, that after being bitten by a radioactive spider, obtained incredible powers and became a superhero. His name is Peter Parker, the Amazing Spider-Man… and he has failed.
The depressed webslinger walks across the rooftop of a tower in silence, staring down at the floor while ignoring the chaos and destruction around. An aircraft crashes and explodes next to him. A helicopter spirals out out of control after being attacked by a winged symbionte. Police, SHIELD, and many other forces of order are working together to defeat the aliens, only to be overwhelmed by them.
It seems like some sort of Hell, and yet the webslinger simply ignores it, depressed over his failure, and he starts remembering voices of people he knows that hurted him deep into his core.
"I have it, don't I? I know what that does to me. How it can change me." said the memory of what he himself had said when he obtained the black suit when he was fighting Venom.
"If that thing gets control over you, you can be damn sure, you'll have my gun in your head, got that?" said the memory of Yelena Belova, the Black Widow.
"This city will be mine, and you don't have the strength to save it… if you don't believe me, just wait and see." said the memory of the new enemy he's fighting, who started this whole invasion, Venom.
"If you were good enough… maybe Tony would still be alive." said the memory of Quentin Beck, the false superhero turned criminal Mysterio.
"You killed her, Parker, I may have dealt the final blow, but if she's gone, it's because of you." said the memory of one of his enemies from another dimension, the Green Goblin.
"When this is said and done, who will the people remember… as their savior" said the memory of one of the arrogant members of the Thunderbolts.
But then, when it seemed like our hero would never get back up, something in his mind encourages him to push forward and fight until the end. As he approaches the edge of a roof, he starts to pick up the pace, and jumps down into a freefall, and then he starts hearing the voices of his loved ones inside his head, giving him a newfound strength.
"For the next Tony Stark, I trust you" it was the last gift that Peter received from Tony. Tony had showed him many times that he cared for Peter, and that last gift was to show him that even in death, he will always be with him.
"You know kid, everytime I see you with your two friends, it's like I see everytime me, Tony, and Pepper in your places." had said Rhodey, in one of his memories, with a nostalgic smile on his face, Rhodey has been to Peter like a second uncle. He will never be Uncle Ben, but he was thankful that even Rhodey took care of him when Tony wasn't there.
"It's like i see a mini Tony everytime I see you Peter, Tony has made the right choice" it was what Pepper had said in one of his memories, he remembers that she was looking at him with a smile, when she had seen him in a Spider-Suit, when he was going to go patrolling the city.
"Big Bro, you're my favourite superhero" had said Morgan, Tony and Pepper's daughter, in one of his memories, he remembers his heart being completely overwhelmed by happiness, and he had given his sister a really big hug to thank her.
"You're not Iron Man, you will never be Iron Man, no one can become like Tony, not even Tony… Tony was my best friend… and he was always a mess, he always second guessed everything. The only thing that he never second guessed, not even for a moment, was picking you. Since the first moment he saw you, he knew you would continue where he left off, now your friends are in danger, and a psycophatic is ready to break loose, what are you gonna do about it?" it was what Happy had said to him, when he was depressed over having trusted Beck. He will always be thankful of the fact that Happy was in his life, before he forgot him becaude of the spell.
"Peter, you have an incredible power… and with great power… there must come… great responsibility." it was what May had said to him in her final moments, and since then, he took this words by heart, became his reasons of fighting, until victory was his.
"Remember buddy, whatever happens, I'm your guy in the chair" had said the memory of his, now, ex-best friend, he never got to tell Ned that he was like a brother to him, but probably he alrwedy knew.
"Peter, I love you" said the memory of his, now, ex girlfriend, MJ. How he wants her back in his arms, having the chance to kiss her again on her lips, but he knows that as long as his friends don't know him, they are safe, and he will always protect them until the end.
"C'mon, me, don't tell me you're gonna give up now" starts to say Peter in his own head.
"STAND UP AND FIGHT." it was like everyone of his friends and family, Tony, Pepper, Morgan, Rhodey, Happy, his aunt May, Ned, MJ, hell, even himself, they all roared at him, to Peter Parker, to Spider-Man, to not give up, to continue to fight for what he believes.
And that's exactly what he's going to do, because that's what a hero does, because that's what Spider-Man does.
During all the time he had heard his friends encouraging him, he had already defeated many symbiontes, in many parts of Manhattan, but it's not over yet.
Spider-man looks down at the street, and spots a SHIELD van crashing into a building, exploding upon impact. "Could they be in there, please be alive" he finally speaks, he was searching Ned and MJ, that have gone missing, he's absolutely worried, and he's gonna find them no matter what. He swing through the crash site, landing next to the van, but he doesn't see them, just a now dead soldier of SHIELD, "No, they're not here, where are they?" exclaims Peter.
Suddenly he turns around and sees a group of Symbiontes walking towards him, ready to attack him. "Stupid Symbiontes, get out of my way" he says with anger, and he defeats them quite easily.
"I have to find them, they must be alive somewhere" says Peter desperately, swinging through the city, until he sees a SHIELD aircraft crashing through a wall of a skyscraper.
SHIELD agents come out of the aircraft, "Move, move, move, let's go" "We've got multiple targets", said the agents, surrounded by the winged symbiontes. But suddenly the aircraft explodes, causing everyone, but one, to fall to their deaths, while the survivor holds onto the hedge of the aircraft.
"That man won't hold on much longer, I must hurry" said our superhero, web-zipping towards the wall where the aircraft crashed and sticking onto it, the symbiontes on that same wall tried to kill him, but Peter defeats all of them.
Meanwhile, the SHIELD agent has been grabbed by a winged symbionte, trying to kill him. "OH NO, YOU DON'T" said Spidey furious, he jumps out of the symbionte and shoots webs at the Symbionte, forcing it to drop the agent, but before he falls to his death, Spidey catches him and saves him.
"Now where's Kate Bishop and the civilians she's evacuating? Where. Are. My. Friends?" asked Spidey, with hurry and anger.
"Bishop? I don't understand. Maybe… the secondary rendezvous, One Bravo-17"
"Show me" said Spidey
"It's not too far from here, just a couple blocks" and thanks to Spidey's speed, it has not been long before they arrived at their destination "Yeah, that's it, over there."
Two SHIELD agents were standing next to the van, when they were surprised to see Spidey with one of the agents, injured. They already had a stretcher out as Spidey gently puts him there.
"WHERE'S KATE BISHOP AND THE CIVILIANS SHE'S EVACUATING" roared Spidey
"Who?" replied one member of SHIELD, confused
"TWO CIVILIANS, A REDHEAD GIRL, AND A CHUBBY BOY, ABOUT 19 YEARS OLD… AAAAAGHHH, YOU'RE NO HELP."
"Hold that APC, we got vehicles inbound" replied another member of SHIELD
"Ned! MJ!" Spidey follows them, hoping they will lead him to his ex friends.
Following them, he sees some officers fighting against Symbiontes, Spidey helps them and defeats the aliens, until he sees a pod on a wall, spawning more symbiontes.
"I have to destroy if we want to have a fighting chance" Spidey goes to the pod and destroys it with his amazing abilities.
After winning the battle, Spidey is surprised to see a car ramming through symbiontes on the streets, and from that car he sees Happy, Ned and MJ, he even sees from the sky Rhodey and Pepper with the War Machine armor and the Rescue armor.
Spidey lands on the car. "Guys, guys, run away and search a safe place, I'm taking it from here"
"We just need some answers Peter" said Happy
"YOU THINK THERE'S TIME FOR-… One moment, how do you?… Who is Peter?"
But before he can interrogate them further, his Spider-Sense kicks, and turning around he sees a silhouette coming towards him. Spidey is ready to fight it.
"Oh no, get away, GET AWAY" said MJ frantically
"Don't go" said Ned with the same worry, while Happy holds onto them.
Spidey looks at them, then at the silhouette, with confusion. What should he do?
"Don't do it, just come with me" said MJ desperately
Peter doesn't know what to do. If he follows them, the silhouette will do the same, until it gets Spider-Man, and if he instead goes to fight it, his friends will follow him, and he will put them in danger. He grabs his head with frustation, even because of the Black Suit trying to corrupt him, and then black tendrils grab Spidey, and pull him towards the symbiontes while he screams "AAAAARRRRGGGHHH"
"No! NO! NOOOOOOO!" yelled his friends, while he gets consumed by the black goo, the last thing he sees are War Machine and Rescue coming to save him.
