Arnold turned around to a smiling Rhonda Lloyd.
"Why hello there, Romeo." she said in a flirty tone.
"Well if it isn't my Juliet hmm?" Arnold replied as his cheeks got warmer and warmer.
Rhonda couldn't help but giggle at his face reddening
Arnold then started. "So I take it this means you found out I'm playing Romeo for the play."
"Oh I found out because of Sheena before our call-backs for the part of Juliet"
Arnold just smiled. "Well since we're both going to be the main stars in the movie, maybe we could…. Study with each other at our places everyday to learn our lines?" Arnold asked nervously as he felt his cheeks warm.
Rhonda couldn't believe what she heard, she almost wanted to jump with joy. "And how about when we're done studying our lines, maybe we could… Go out and get an ice cream or go for a walk in the park? Just the two of us?" She said blushing furiously.
Arnold's heart skipped a beat as he couldn't believe what he was hearing, Rhonda asking to spend some one-on-one time with him.
"So spending some time together? The both of us? I'd love that." Replied Arnold with a big smile.
"Ok great! How's about I come over to your place in a half hour so we can start reciting our line?" Rhonda asked chirpily.
"Half hour? Sure! Do you mind if I walk you home?" Arnold then asked nervously.
Rhonda's heart skipped a few beats as she felt her heart flutter with joy, she could just jump on him and kiss him on the lips way before the play.
"You know, I would love it if you walked me home my dear sweet, Romeo" She said with a flirty tone.
Arnold couldn't help but smile as he then offered his hand. Rhonda then took his hand.
"You're such a gentleman, and a charmer too. No wonder you'll be playing Romeo."
The both of them just laughed as they started walking to Rhonda's place. But little did they know a certain blonde pig-tailed girl was spying over them, while she couldn't hear what they were saying, she didn't like what she was seeing one bit.
"Now what's princess doing with the football head? I can see they're giggling and blushing with each other, and I'm not liking this, not one little bit!" Then pulled out her locket.
"Oh Arnold, how must I show to you how much I truly love you, nobody else but me, I, Helga G Pataki, am your true love!" As she gave a deep kiss to her locket then she felt a heavy breathing over her shoulder. She puts her locket away and whacks Brainy with the back of her hand.
"Looks like a little spying is due here to see if Arnoldo is seeing little Miss Rhondaloid!" Helga soon left for Arnold's boarding house rooftop.
Back with Arnold and Rhonda, they were both sharing laughs with each other while giving flirty hints at one another.
"Oh Arnold I don't know how you do it, but you're certainly one of the best people to be around."
Soon they reached Rhonda's place.
"Well here we are, it felt like a short walk didn't it?" Arnold said
"Well they say time passes by when you spend time with ones you care for."
Arnold could only blush and smile. "Well I'll see you in a half hour at my place so we practice our lines?"
"And hopefully do something else after." Rhonda said with a smile.
"Perfect! I'll see you later, Juliet." Arnold said cheekily
"And I'll see you later, My Romeo." Rhonda replied, fluttering her eyes.
As the both of them blushed, both of them were having a thought come to mind. Before one could react, they both went in for a close hug.
"Man she feels so huggable like a teddy bear, and she smells so sweet!" Arnold thought to himself.
"Wow! I'm actually hugging him! I actually am! His hair smells so charming, and he feels like a huggable teddy bear!"
After a few seconds of hugging, they soon separated.
"I'll see you later Rhonda." Arnold said with a smile.
"I'll see you later, buddy." She said flirtily
Later at Arnold's boarding house, Arnold was telling his grandpa all about the school play.
"So shortman you're gonna be playing Romeo? So who's your Juliet?" Grandpa asked teasingly
Arnold felt his cheeks redden a little. "Well actually, the girl playing Juliet, one of the most beautiful girls in probably the entire school." Arnold said dreamingly.
"Y'know shortman, I always heard that Romeo and Juliet always shared a kiss, think you'll be up to impress the girl shortman?" Grandpa said with a smirk.
He looked over at Arnold who looked goofily while daydreaming of how the kissing scene would be like with Rhonda. The scene played out in his head, he imagined if he and Rhonda were standing in a park at night, slow dancing and then soon, he had his left arm around her waist, while her arms wrapped around his neck, as he slowly lifted her chin, they both went in for the kiss until….
"Shortman you hear me?" Grandpa asked
Arnold then snapped out of his daydream. "Huh? Grandpa, you said something?"
Grandpa soon realized what Arnold was doing. "Heh, dreaming of your future girlfriend are ya shortman?" Said with a snicker.
"Grandpa!" Arnold knew his teasing was all jokes but then it never occurred to him, could this be his shot with Rhonda? Taking his boldness to another level or was he just going to be in over his head? Arnold soon headed up to his room to get ready to recite his lines with the thought, still lingering in his head.
Meanwhile over the Lloyd residence, Rhonda was up in her room taking in the thought of how she and Arnold were going to play Romeo and Juliet together. As she laid in her bed with her eyes closed, she couldn't help but think of the kissing scene she and Arnold were gonna do. She then heard her mother coming into her room.
"How's my sweet princess doing today?" Asked Brooke.
"Oh hello mother, you won't believe what happened today!" Rhonda replied leaving her mother with a raised eyebrow.
"At school Mr. Simmons announced P.S.118's annual school play, this year we'll be doing a Romeo and Juliet play, and I got the part as Juliet!" Rhonda said excitedly.
"Oh how sweet! Our little girl is gonna play Juliet, so who's your Romeo?" Brooke said with raised eyebrow.
Rhonda could only dreamingly sigh. "Only the best boy in all of P.S.118."
"And who is that?" Brooke said as she lowered her eyelids.
"Well, he's the nicest and most generous boy in the entire school, he's my geography buddy, his name is Arnold. I feel like he's different from the others, I just feel all special and giddy inside when I'm around him." Rhonda said as her cheeks went red.
"Well why haven't we met this boy yet? From the sounds of it, he sounds like a charmer and perfect boyfriend material for you." Brooke teasingly said.
"Mom!" Rhonda was blushing furiously.
"Oh honey don't try to deny it, you make this boy sound special and you say he makes you feel special every time your with him. So why don't you consider the thought that you and this boy Arnold could go together." Brooke said with a smile.
Rhonda considered that a mere thought but now that she heard her mother saying that, she'd give it more thought to it now.
"Y'know I always heard that Romeo and Juliet share a kiss, maybe you could have your first kiss with Arnold that way unless you and him sneak one before the big play." Brooke teasing her again.
Before Rhonda said anything she looked at the time. "Uh mother, I have to get going to his place, I told him I'd later visit him so we can study our lines."
"To practice your lines or to practice your first kiss with him before you both kiss on stage?" Brooke said with a smirk.
"Mom!" Rhonda said with her face redder than a tomato.
Rhonda then picked up her backpack that had her script. "I'll be back in a couple hours, mother."
"Back in a couple hours from practicing your kiss with Arnold?" Brooke said laughing
"Oh ha ha. See you soon mother." Giving her a peck on the cheek before she went over to Arnold's place.
